E-cigs will not be allowed in checked luggage
Earthling789 replied to vaping_jake's topic in General Vape News
Yep, I take them apart, and bundle them together with electrical tape, then just to verify how long I've been without a vape, I put a small clock attached to the top of them with lots of yellow and blue wires to keep the clock running off the batteries NEVER an issue going through TSA that way -

Easier to fix that way... Like cleaning the garage, you have to make a bigger mess before you can really clean!

So, what did Tam break this time?

So what do you do with your empty bottles
Earthling789 replied to vaping_jake's topic in General eLiquid Discussion
I save the glass ones for DIY, and the plastic ones I'll re-use for mixing, samples, and travel... until they start getting soft or worn, then I'll use them for target practice on the fencepost -
I've noticed the iStick requires a setting of 50-75% what other devices require to get the same vape experience. I've been running my AeroTanks on 8.5-10W with my MVP... 9-10W on my IPV-mini, and... (drumroll)... 6.5W on my iStick

E-cigs will not be allowed in checked luggage
Earthling789 replied to vaping_jake's topic in General Vape News
I'd rather have mine on me anyway! I don't think I've put anything but a couple bottles of spare juice in my checked luggage. I always have my "batteries" and tanks with me in my carry-on -
Kanger Tech AeroTank V2
Earthling789 replied to vaping_jake's topic in Troubleshooting & Technical Issues
I've used 80/20 and 70/30 juices with my Kanger tanks, and occasionally, the coil would leak a drop or two into the base. If the base floods, they tend to not fire, or fire erratically, but cleaning them out with a q-tip or tissue will have them back up and running just fine. I would guess that the center pin of the base may be the issue... it could be "stuck" and not making contact with the base of the coil? BTW, there are 3 KPT2 tanks (with air-flow bases) in my rack at the moment, all with 70/30 juice in them, and they've been sitting for weeks, with zero leakage or fluid build-up in the center tube or base. -
Which mech mod or box for kanger tech subtank
Earthling789 replied to vaping_jake's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I look at it this way... the sub-tank 0.5 Ohm coils are recommended to be used at a maximum 30W, which means my IPV-mini ($50), or an iStick 30W would be all the power needed. Also, even if using a mech-mod, 0.5 Ohms @ 4.1V is only 33.6W. I'm sure if you were cloud-chasing, you'd want/need more power, but for the average-Joe... a 30W device will suffice... and a 50W device would fit the needs of the vast majority of vapers (all but that 1-2% of cloud-chasers). -
The way to quit smoking by substituting vaping is simple... but it's in this order... Willpower High enough level of nicotine level to help stave off cravings Willpower Good tasting juice (fruits, candy, bakery... all good things to get you away smoking) Willpower Reliable tank and battery (at least two of each so you can switch flavors and have one charging while you use the other) Willpower A good support-group, like the fine folks on this forum!! PS, don't feel bad if you don't quit tomorrow... it's not an Olympic event, not a race, and there are no penalty points for having to have a few smokes as you get into vaping... everyone is different!

The 650mAh eGo-T and Ce4 combo kits are the go-to $10 rigs, sold at finer gas-stations across America Seriously, of the 3 B&M's within 20 miles of me, two of them PUSH Ce4 clearomizers... mostly because they can sell them at 2/$7 and people think they are getting a bargain... and we all know you can buy a 100-pack for pennies (direct from China).

I've not tried one yet, but I plan to pick up one in the near future, just because I like the updated airflow base I may even grab two I really should try a Davide tank... but I recently cut down my excess tanks and paid-forward six KPT2's... still have six If you shop around, you can find Kanger single-coils in 50-packs for $28-36. The last case I bought was $34.99, but I also had a 15% off coupon-code, which made them $29.75 or < 60 cents each...

Do You Ever Mix Two Different Flavors?
Earthling789 replied to T-Bone's topic in General eLiquid Discussion
I mix pre-made juices all the time... some of my favorites are Sour Apple (like jolly rancher) in a tank, mixed with a half-dozen drops of cinnamon fireball (Mad Alchemist Dragon's Breath). I also mix Dark Chocolate, Peanut Butter, and Caramel 1:1:1... YUM! I've also mixed different fruits together just to see what happens... sometimes it's a winner, sometimes not, but strange combos have been surprisingly good Tam, I'll have to try the blueberry and peppermint... sounds good! -
What build to replicate plug and play coils?
Earthling789 replied to jasonculp's topic in Coil Builds
For my RTA's, I like 1.3 - 1.8 Ohm ranges.... Not a cloud-chaser, but I want my flavor "smooth", not hot or harsh... On my Russians, what tastes best is 1.3 - 1.4 Ohm single-coil (30ga or 28ga macro coil, built on 2mm mandrel). Generally, around the 12W range seems to be best with my IPV-mini. On my Kayfun V4, what tastes best is 1.6 - 1.8 Ohm single-coil (28ga micro coil, built on 2mm mandrel). A 1.4 Ohm macro coil tasted pretty good, but was overpowering, which is why I tried a micro coil with a tiny higher resistance.... it helped a LOT! I've been using the V4 on a mech-mod, lately, so 3.8 - 4.1V range. -

I've left it alone, and I've peeled away one (or both) side(s) when using smaller diameter coils. I've seen no real difference between leaving the outer-layer alone, or taking it off. Once the outer layer gets soaked, it expands and wicks as well as the inner layer... at least that is my opinion/observation.

For me, you can't beat Kanger tanks for cost and performance. The single-coil tanks (KPT2, KPT2-mini) are excellent, and the cheapest to operate. Coils (in bulk) avg ~ $0.60/coil, and they will last from 1-3 weeks. Their dual-coil tanks (KPT3, KPT3-mini, AeroTank, Aerotank-mini) provide a little more flavor/vapor, but the coils are a little more expensive, and still last from 1-3 weeks (depending on your vaping style, juice, etc.). I've tried dozens of different tanks, and continue to go back to my KPT2 and Aerotanks. They are cheaper than a Nautilus, no leaks, low maintenance, and durable! I would suggest using the 1.8 Ohm coils with either of these tanks, as they provide a good median-vape experience. 1.5 Ohm coils will be a little warmer vape, but they will also run down your battery faster. Personally, I use both, because a couple of my juices taste better when ran through a 1.5 Ohm coil

Bump when you get something in vape mail.
Earthling789 replied to Tam's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Happy surprise in the mailbox this morning... A 120' roll of 26ga Kanthal... I forgot I had ordered it -
That's what I have... and it works great, and tastes great. Compared to KGD, I find no difference, other than price. KGD is just a brand-name, like Mabelline or Cover-Girl... and price tends to reflect the brand-name....

My first rig (eGo-T and Ce4) was bought on 3/31/14, and that was also the date of my last analog! I started vaping on 4/1/14 and haven't looked back. I found my "better" set-up in late April or early May... and have been evolving ever since However, I still use my "better" set-up of KPT2/Aerotank/MVP, even though I've now evolved into bigger and better APV's, mech-mods, RTA/RDA, etc.

Can never have too many calculators! Thanks Rixter!

So far the reading of the coil are holding steady with the new post screws.... if it continues to fluctuate, I'll try giving the spring a little stretch. Now I see why they included a spare spring This RTA has it's little quirks, for sure... but it's not horrible either, just a little "different". Even though I like the V4, I find myself picking up my V1 Russian more often (if they are side-by-side)

^^ This ^^ I was about to chime in that the 25r's were 20A rated. I would not use them for anything lower than 0.25 Ohm builds, just to be under the Amp-threshold. I think they will operate slightly higher than 20A, safely, but I'd rather not find out "the hard way"!
