  1. They don't necessarily taste the "same"... the RDA cranks up flavor intensity... a lot like turning up the volume on a stereo. But, just like when you crank up the volume on your stereo you tend to lose the subtle melody undertones, an RDA (to me) tends to wash-out the subtle flavor undertones of complex mixtures. One of my juices is a complex mixture... in an RDA, the main ingredient is strong and harsh, but that is about all I taste. In an RTA, I can pick up the subtle hints of coconut, nut, and citrus that are completely absent in the RDA experience. For this reason, I tend to limit my RDA to "simple" flavors. My RDA is currently set-up with a 0.35 Ohm dual-twisted-micro-coil built on 2.5mm rod, and my RTA has a single 28ga macro-coil built on 2.0mm rod. Using my cranberry/raspberry 30/70 juice in both has a similar experience (even though the coils are not built the same), but the RDA has more intense flavor and lots more vapor. If I use a more complex juice (with coils built the exact same), the RDA tends to wash the complexity, whereas the RTA brings out the undertones more. So, in the latter example, the RDA is a chainsaw... and the RTA is a razor-sharp scalpel
  2. I don't have an Orchid, but do have two Russians and a Kayfun V4. I love them all, and each has their advantages. Personally, I think the V4 has advantage of being the most versatile for the money, but the Russians are just rock-soild performers. The V4 is much cheaper than any (good) Russian clone, so that may also be something to consider. There's a recent thread of mine for the Kayfun V4 Review... I made some comparisons to the Russians, and pointed out the major issue with the V4... the spring! If someone were to offer me an authentic, my choice, of a Russian, Kayfun V4, Orchid, or Lemo.... I'd be tempted to take the Russian 91%... at least until the V4 spring issue is fixed or re-designed.
  3. First off... if you're going to build coils, be safe, and pick up a real ohm-meter! Using the meters built into your box-mods (like the iStick or MVP) is good in a pinch, but they are not nearly as accurate. Safety first! A good beginner RDA for flavor ... I would recommend a Magma from a reputable clone company like Infinite, HCigar, or EhPro. I have an Infinite version, and it is very easy to build on, has good airflow, and a deep juice-well to keep you from constantly having to drip more into it. The juice I like to drip tastes fantastic in this RDA, with a 0.8 Ohm dual-coil build @ 18-22W. Any lower Ohms or higher Watts, and the flavor suffers. I will say this... RDA has great flavor, but I enjoy the flavor from my RTA just as much. Sub-ohming, high Watts/power, etc... are more for cloud-chasing, IMO... I don't find 0.2 Ohm builds @ 50W to be any more pleasurable than my RTA with 1.4 Ohm builds at 12-14W... But, that is my opinion because I don't like a harsh or hot vape The burnt taste from your Nautilus is most likely the juice that cannot tolerate high power. I have a few juices that taste great around 8W, but taste like burnt socks at 11W. Higher power doesn't always mean "better".
  4. Well, I'll be the dissenting voice, lol... I bought a Nautilus so I could see the hype, and have not been impressed, even though I want to be. The flavor is marginally better than my AeroTanks or KPT2's with AeroBases. Out of the 5 coils I've used, three of them have flooded the center-tube (two BVC, one BDC) to the point I had to disassemble the base and clean the base/coil of excess juice almost daily (usually after sitting overnight), and I'm not using "thin" juices. My next issue is the coils themselves... they cost up to 5x as much as my Kanger coils (bought in bulk), but do not last even twice as long. I do like the air-flow control design. I can also see why Aspire now ships the Nautilus with a spare glass tank, too... I have banged my Kanger tanks like red-headed step-children, and had zero issues, but a Nautilus atop my box-mod, bumped over on my desk a few times, and cracked the tank.... I've ordered a stainless steel replacement tank for my Nautilus, and maybe it will help the flooding issue (and will not break, lol), but based on my experience with the Nautilus... I won't be dropping another $25-30 on a second one. I'll continue using my Kanger tanks and my RTA's...
  5. Not always... My local B&M's house juice is 80/20, 70/30, and 60/40, depending in what flavors....
  6. Wow, I saw their V6 model was released just a few months ago (back in the Fall)... didn't realize the V7 was already out. I personally don't have any of the Vamo models, but those people that I know who have them (usually a V5) claim them to be work-horses.
  7. Ooooh, I just thought of another one I tried when I was in Texas and Mexico many years ago... Deep fried earthworms! They wash them in running water, then dump them in a big bowl of flour and seasoning... then drop them in the deep fryer like french-fries! And, that is how you eat them, with a little salt and ketchup or salsa:) They tasted like crispy shoestring curly fries....
  8. The only leaks I've experienced with Kanger tanks were caused by knock-off coils or a coil that just was "over used". Is it possible that you have a clone V2 or knock-off coils?
  9. It wasn't bad... worth renting... It was well done with cool effects, but I feel they could have done better with the ending.
  10. I just realized that no one had given you any info on sub-ohming Sub-ohming is for true cloud-chasers and those that want really intense flavors. Personally, I've tried 0.3 Ohm builds on my RDA and I can honestly take it or leave it... usually the latter, although when I do drip, I find my dripping juice has best flavor ~ 0.8 Ohms. Mostly, though, I use my RTA's because I don't like carrying my juice bottle around, lol... and flavor/vapor from my RTA's is best with builds from 1.3 - 1.6 Ohms. Sub-ohming has it's appeal, but not necessarily the next progression of vaping... just like driving for NASCAR is not the next progression after getting a driver's license.... Despite all the news stories, pictures of people blowing room-filling clouds, and people at the B&M hyping their 0.00001 Ohm builds that make flavor so intense that you can smell colors... those that sub-ohm are a huge minority of the vaping society... It also takes a bit of knowledge and proper equipment to sub-ohm safely and responsibly... which is why the media hypes cloud-chasers a lot... just like they portray all motorcycle owners belong to Hell's Angels... or all gun-owners as commando-wanna-be's... the media wants to paint the image of all vapers as cloud-chasers (to fit the agenda of government regulators and big-tobacco). -- yeah, I got on my soap-box Vaping is what you want it to be... if you're happy with a drop-in coil tank-system and a stick-battery... nobody will think less of you But, I will say, vaping quickly DOES become a hobby with all the shiny gadgets on the market these days.... and there's nothing wrong with sub-ohming... if that is what you like Just be SAFE!
  11. 1.2 Ohms @ 4V is 13W... perhaps that is where they were headed for the sub-tank? And 1.8 Ohms @ 3.8V is 8W (sweet-spot for my KPT2's)...
  12. Oh, you have a black version 1... and need a champagne version1... and a pretty black version 2 (70W) With a 70W, you'll be able to ditch all those mechs, and with a champagne V1, you'll also need a nice Russian 91% or Kayfun V4 RTA to put on top of it
  13. Yeah, Tam has an IPV-mini 2 with her name on it, already
  14. I love my IPV-mini 30W... it's the same size as an MVP, but the rounded side and fire-button on the short-edge make it feel half as big in my hand. As soon as I saw these were coming out, and the same size as the 30W, I decided to hold off on buying another 30W model, and throw an extra $10 towards the 70W model. Even though I'll probably never use it to it's full potential, having a70W box-mod would be handy someday
  15. I think they're going the right direction with a box-mod, and 40W is more than ample to power their sub-tanks!
  16. Welcome to V|T... and congrats on making the switch!
  17. Ipv mini 2 features: Same body style & size as the first version 1>SX330V2C chip 2>output power:5-70watt,3.6-8.5v 3>atomizer resistance:0.2ohm-3.0ohm 4>USB for charging Estimated MSPR $59.95 - $64.95 (Tam needs one )
  18. Jason, I just checked Vapor Range's site... The site says the Colossal's are "In Stock", so maybe your wait will be over soon?
  19. Well, let's see... after I pay State $20, and get my $4 refund from Uncle Sam... yep, I'm in the hole.... I'm one of those that adjust my W-4 a couple times a year, so I DON'T give the government an "annual interest-free loan" of MY money However, I will be picking up a second IPV-mini and probably an asMODus Colossal in the very near future... as well as another Russian 91% and Kayfun V4. I'm really loving the small box-mods and RTA combo!
  20. If it's walked, crawled, hopped, flew, or swam, I've probably eaten it... but the strangest thing I ever ate was back in college (no, not goldfish)... My roommate had served 5-yrs in the Army, stationed in Korea, and he kept begging me to go with him to this authentic Korean restaurant, so I finally relented and we went. He ordered in Korean, and said "trust me, you'll love it"... and I did... it was delicious food, and tons of it! I never asked what it was we ate, but years later I heard the name again and asked what it was... all I'll say is this... "I apologize often to my dogs"...
  21. YES! I have a tiny bit more willpower now, than I had back when I was photographing dinosaurs with my Polarock camera Then again, no guy evolves past 12-yrs-old, so I'm still a sucker for shiny new toys....
  22. Same as my obsession... They're SHINY! And it doesn't hurt that they're priced low enough to buy one a month and not notice the hit in your bank account! Buying my IPV-mini was like buying a carton of smokes... and I use to be a carton per week smoker
