  1. Good to hear... I like fast shipping, and don't mind paying a little extra for it I've been wanting to get my hands on a Cloupor mini... I've heard really good things about them since they upgraded the boards to fix the sleep-mode issue. If they are that good, I may use them as the replacement for my iSticks.... I ordered a Squape Reloaded from GearBest the first part of Feb... it has yet to ship I pre-ordered a Goblin from them too... I guess I'll see it sometime this summer, lol
  2. How fast is their shipping? I've been thinking real hard about buying from them, but wasn't sure about shipping speeds Plus, $30 is cheaper than Cvapor... and shipping from China always sucks... I'm still waiting for my package from Fasttech (ordered on 1/3), but the good news is that it hit Chicago on Friday, so that means I should have it within the next two weeks
  3. I have two authentic and four clones... and I must say there is a difference, but that difference is not worth $100+, IMO If you can find an authentic Russian 91% for under $50, then I'd snag it, but otherwise, the clones from EhPro, Yiloong, Kebo (which also make the original), YouDe, and others, are usually quite good. Both my authentic Russians were bought for $45 each, from a shop that was closing them out... otherwise I'd never have bought them. Even the worst clone I have is not a bad device... it just came with a poor quality plastic center-tank (bad threads) and it has a tendency to pool condensation under the drip-tip (far more than I think it should). The clones also tend to be slightly taller than the authentic, and clones usually reverse the air-intake port (screw on the angle, rather than straight-in)... but that makes little difference in their function. PM me if you want to know where to get a decent clone for $18-25.
  4. FYI, CVapor.com has the Cloupor mini (30W) for roughly the same price as an iStick 20W, and they are only a few millimeters larger than the iStick. Granted, they require a single 18650 battery, rather than being a self-contained unit like the iStick, but it may be something to consider?
  5. Nothing wrong with vaping 100% VG, if you can handle the pure glycerine flavor... and it would make some great clouds Most people will have to have some flavoring (do not use oil-based extracts), and flavorings are carried best by PG and/or water, so adding flavoring (enough to be able to really taste it), would cut your 100% VG. Even using VG-based flavorings are still not 100%, as they will normally contain a little water. If you're going to attempt to make your own juices, I'd suggest reading several of the threads in the DIY e-liquid sub-section... you'll get good info on best flavoring brands, mixture ratios, and safety!
  6. ^^ THIS ^^ I'm quite sure that the iStick 20W were built (and still are) with the cheapest chip-set on the market... Mean-vs-RMS does make a difference, but these things are all over the place, and their is no excuse (cost-wise) to not create a VV/VW mod with MEAN circuitry! It is quite sad when you can take the same tank and switch between 3 iSticks (all set the exact same) and the vape will be different... from weak to burnt and everything in between. I'm using mine right now with my KPT3-minis and AeroTanks, and so far, so good (using Voltage-mode only, and on ridiculously low settings). I've written Eleaf a rather nasty letter about their iStick 20W, and how I would appreciate having mine replaced with upgraded models, 30W models, or perhaps they'd like to buy them back? I've yet to receive a reply... but fingers are crossed that someone replies... at least with an apology
  7. Yep... the iStick 20W are "hotter" on any setting, and on Wattage-mode, if you have an atomizer that fluctuates readings, you can quickly burn your juice! Switching to Voltage-mode clears the issue because you level-out the output (somewhat) by setting the Voltage constant, rather than having the PV bouncing Voltage up and down trying to hit the Wattage you set (in Wattage-mode). When in Wattage-mode, I have to use 25-50% lower settings on my iStick, compared to my MVP or IPV, to get the same results. In Voltage-mode, about 20-40% lower setting is required. The odd thing is, that as the battery depletes, I can move the Voltage a bit higher without getting a burnt taste.
  8. As far as pure-grain alcohols go... Everclear is a great cleaning product... I just don't drink it.... Growing up in the mountains of KY, most of us had moonshine long before we ever tasted beer or wine, and Everclear is not even close to my grandfather's 'shine
  9. Hey, according to TV Guide, tomorrow doesn't start until 5am... I have plenty of time until then
  10. Wow, I've had no real problems with clones... at least no more problems than I've had with authentics too... In all honesty, I know how Chinese manufacturers are... they contract their lines to make authentic for company X for 10-hrs a day... and then they run 14-hrs of clones without branding, or with cheaper metals (those that don't meet specs for the authentic), or they don't bother to polish them as well.... UCT contracts their Russian 91% to a specific plant in China... Kebo... and the really good clones are built to the exact same specs, right down to the name (just not the logo) during the "off hours" when they're not under contract to build for UCT. The reason half the Kayfun clones are as good as the authentic is because they are made on the same lines as the authentic. US manufacturers are no different... The local paper plant makes diapers, tissue, etc.... and after they run 'Huggies' for 8-hrs, they change the labels and bags, and start running 'Babies-R-Us' or 'Family Dollar' brands Sorry you had a bad experience with a bad clone... but that is the real rub with clones... the Chinese make just as many bad authentic, but the QC departments don't let bad authentic merchandise hit the market... with clones, it's commonplace to send them out anyway.
  11. No school here for the past two weeks... the 20+" of snow we got last Monday is still "mostly" on the ground, and we received another inch of snow yesterday morning and this morning... Commuting has been FUN before daylight, to say the least! All next week is expected to hit mid-50's and mid-60's, but thunderstorms every day... YAY FLOODING! Our luck, we'll probably have another foot of snow next weekend The saddest part is, the first two weekends of February, I was riding my motorcycle with just a light jacket! Spring can't get here fast enough for me!
  12. Hmmm... just a thought here... The EVOD tanks are heavily cloned... it may be possible that you have a clone. How many air-holes are on the base? Genuine EVOD bases have three air-holes @ 120-deg spacing. Most knock-offs have only two, or if they have 3, they are not evenly spaced around the base and they are half-way-up, not in the upper third of the base. I've used the trick for flipping the cap over, and also used two caps (one up, one down) before, too... generally it works well, but it can put added pressure to the components and create leakage from other places, like the o-rings at the base, or additional pressure on the center-tube can cause cracking where the tube is attached to the drip-tip I agree with everyone else on recommended upgrade to the ProTank2 or ProTank2-mini... as a matter of fact, I'm giving two of them away in a contest, open through the weekend... just reply to the thread and get a chance to win It's a great way to upgrade without spending any $$
  13. A vodka soak for overnight or longer usually works wonders for removing flavors. It doesn't remove 100% of some flavors, but it does a pretty good job! Air-dry for a day (longer if you can), and even if you can't wait, a little vodka being vaped is not a horrible taste
  14. Well, I had to take a break from work to give everyone an update... I tracked him down this morning and handed him the "box"... he sighed heavily and said, "I guess it was too far gone, huh?" I smiled, and opened the box, and showed him the "clean" Russian, and began to explain that I was giving it back to him because there was NOTHING wrong with it (aside from the idiot that sold it to him). He tried to be nice and insist that I keep it anyway, but I told him that I couldn't do that to him (or anyone for that matter)... He had been taken advantage of once already, and there was no reason why he shouldn't ENJOY his purchase, to the fullest extent possible! I took it apart and showed him how parts are supposed to fit, how the coil was built and mounted, etc. I then educated him on using an Ohm meter (showed him how with mine), how to dry-burn the coil (and look for inside-out glow), how to tweak the coil if it gets bent during re-wicking... how to wick it, re-assemble, and how to properly fill (from the bottom). He was so excited to see it properly built, and insisted that we fill it and "take a break" so he could try it out BTW, Comp, he loved your PBFB, and I gave him your website so he can order more He had bought that RTA about a year ago, and it had been sitting in the box (slowly leaking juice) since the day after he bought it Now, he has a fully functional, authentic RTA... and hopefully he's a little more educated as well
  15. I received two AeroTank V2 on Monday, compliments of Tam - a thousand thank-yous... Yes, Tam, you're welcome for the help of removing all that evil, dirty money from your bank account In the past couple of weeks, I've received an IPV-mini, IPV-mini2, authentic Russian 91%, and 180ml of my ADV. Since Tam just received her champagne IPV-mini... mine should arrive tomorrow... Yes, I couldn't talk her into buying one if I didn't get one myself Also, TugBoat sent me an Orchid V4 (which is an awesome RTA that arrived yesterday!). I'll be sending him a custom built rack to hold two Spinners and a few tanks at his desk... just as soon as I get finished building it,
  16. I live in a really small town too, thus the independent cable company... fortunately they are a good cable company! When I moved into my current house, there was no cable within a mile of it, so I had no choice but dial-up for Internet and DirectTV for my viewing pleasures... when the cable company began offering cable Internet, with free hook-up, my wife stopped by the office and paid the deposit and first month's service. Now, did you catch the part about "no cable within a mile"? Yeah, neither did they.... so when they came out to hook us up, the soon realized they had to run new line (just over a mile) to actually accomplish this feat... They hated me at that moment, but I've been a loyal top-tier customer since that day... and they also added a few more customers from that extra mile of cable, too... so it was a win-win for all of us... The best part is... since they are laying all new fiber (as part of the high-speed initiative for poor counties), the fiber-hub is about 100-yds from my house, and I'll be one of the first to see 150mbps (happy dance)! As for cell-phone reception... yeah... we're listed on every major carrier as a "roaming" or "fringe" area... which is why I switched from Sprint to Republic Wireless... They operate on wifi priority model, and Sprint as fail-over... for $25/month - unlimited everything I'm near wifi 95% of my day anyway... why not use it?
  17. Well, thanks for the pat on the back, but I'll be the first to admit that if this were a $20 clone, I'd probably be keeping it But, since this is an authentic Russian 91%, and he honestly was taken for a ride with it... I would feel horrible if I kept it Someone needs to look out for the noobs (we all were one once)! I've got it built right now @ 1.44 Ohms, all cleaned and ready to go. Honestly, I can't wait to see his face tomorrow when I hand it back to him... I also had an empty 5ml sample bottle from the V|T Store sample-packs that I was saving for rainy days, and gave him a sample of Comp's PBFB as a treat, as well as a couple of Japanese cotton pads so he can re-wick it (after I show him how) and keep it going for a few months.
  18. Won't break the bank... well, I guess that's a matter of perspective, lol... If you love/want eGo stick-style... All 1300mAH or larger Vision Spinner (original is a favorite) Vision Spinner II Smok Winder EVOD Twist Box-style... smaller, but long-lasting and all under $50 iStick 30W or 50W (20W are okay, but not as good) SMY35 IPV-mini 30W (takes 18650 battery) Cloupor 30W (takes 18650 battery) Sigelei mini 30W (takes 18650 battery) MVP 2.0 MVP 3.0 MVP 20W There are others, but these are all good intermediate upgrades over the basic eGo-C, although I still use the 1100mAh eGo-T (non-VV)
  19. The Nautilus has a standard 510 connection... so how is it not compatible? Manual/Automatic? Did I miss something?
  20. On Tuesday, I was vaping outside work and one of my co-workers noticed my gear and struck up a conversation. He realized I was using a Russian 91% and mentioned that he had one that was "junk", and wanted to know if I could use it for parts. Hey, free is free, so I said "sure"... he brought it to me yesterday... in the original box, unopened accessories, and leaking juice like crazy . Last night, I was taking it apart for cleaning, and quickly realized exactly WHY it was such a horrible RTA for him He normally uses KPT2's/Nautilus on a Mech-mod or Vamo, and some shop in/near Lexington, KY talked him into buying it (obviously to make a sale of a $139 RTA)... and this is what the shop built for him... with cotton piled-high around the coil, packed in the chimney! I checked the resistance, and it's a 0.7 Ohm coil... on an RTA where builds are best in the 1.2-1.8 Ohm range (yes, the upper deck is scorched and insulator slightly melted - yes, it is wrapped around the air-hole). I honestly don't see how this thing could to anything but make the deck hot and leak like screen-doors on a submarine I cleaned it up last night, and tonight I'm going to build it RIGHT @ 1.4-1.6 Ohms and organic Japanese cotton... and offer it back to him tomorrow... after-all, it's not his fault the shop is ran/staffed by idiots....
  21. When DirectTV decided to raise my rates for the 5th time in 5-years (had them for 13 years total), I dropped them like a hot rock... Dish Network wasn't any better with prices, and my local cable offered more channels for less price anyway (and I had to have cable for my Internet out here in the sticks). My local cable (not a big-name like Comcast) is independent, and offers my 25mbps Internet and roughly 250 digital channels for $102/month (not including premium stuff like HBO, etc.)... and once they finish laying fiber, I'll get 150mbps for the same price! 99% of what we watch on TV is downloaded or streamed anyway... I HATE commercials!! And, I enjoy being able to store my shows on my media server and watch them when "I" want... an episode or a season... not when the network says I get to watch them....
  22. My doctor endorses vaping... He even lets his nurses (former smokers) vape in the office, as long as it's not in the room with a patient or in the reception/lobby area. My health, in the past year, has greatly improved, even my seasonal allergies are lessened... and I did not get the Flu or Pneumonia this past winter (like usual)! I honestly think if I had not started vaping when I did, I would have been destined to pulling a trolley with an Oxygen bottle within the next 10 years! Today, I enjoy (again) my outdoor activities of hiking, camping, canoeing, and even played a little soccer back in the fall with my sons... and I didn't have to stop every 3 min and catch my breath or tell them to "keep playing without me" while I lit-up...
  23. Pure Fluoride IS toxic, but the volume mixed with tap water is "considered safe"... HOWEVER, water treatment plants have (quite often) exceeded the safe limits in their additives over the past 50 years, and caused untold numbers of illnesses and trips to the ER by people that drink tap-water by the gallon. BTW, the only reason Fluoride is put into tap water is because of a huge push by the ADA and Health Departments to reduce childhood tooth decay and gingivitis (you know, because it's for the children): In 1962, based on scientific studies showing that fluoride reduces tooth decay, the U.S. Public Health Service recommended the amount of fluoride in drinking water range from 0.7 to 1.2 milligrams per liter. Scientists set the range by taking into account different levels of children's fluid intake according to the average annual temperature in different regions of the United States—less fluoride was added in warmer, southern climates where it was believed that people drank more water, and more was added in cooler, northern climates where it was believed that people drank less. Adults exposed to excessive consumption of fluoride over a lifetime may have increased likelihood of bone fractures, and may result in effects on bone leading to pain and tenderness. For effects to teeth, children are most likely to be affected by excessive exposure to fluoride because it impacts teeth while they are still in formative phases. Children aged 8 years and younger exposed to excessive amounts of fluoride have an increased chance of developing pits in the tooth enamel, along with a range of cosmetic effects to teeth. For prevention of tooth decay, the beneficial effects of fluoride extend throughout the life span. - Extracted from CDC website (So, to me, it seems like a tin-foil-hat conspiracy by the ADA and HHS to ensure prolonged tooth and bone issues over decades - i.e. "job security") The problem is that today people are bombarded by Fluoride in everything they consume, and it is estimated that we intake 400-1000% more than the recommended volume daily. Thus, the push to reduce the volumes of Fluoridation by water companies, as well as drink bottlers and food processors!
