  1. Flavor loss is common, especially when you start vaping... #1, you do get "use" to a flavor, and it becomes muted to your tastebuds #2, drink LOTS of water... this will help! #3, change flavors a couple times a day, or switch out every-other-day... you can't eat only fried chicken for every meal Your tastebuds and your nose need variety... very few people can vape one flavor only, forever (BCarter is an exception to the rule, lol).
  2. School is still out... -1 at 6:30am... river is 15' above flood-stage... roads are closed/blocked all over the valley... but OMG, what a beautiful sunrise!
  3. Interesting... so it won't fire below 0.9 Ohms... and not recommended for sub-ohming because of the Amp-limiter... So, to the OP, you'll need to build your RDA to 1.0 Ohm or higher (two 2.0 Ohm coils) in order to use this MOD. For going below 1.0 Ohm, you'll need a different MOD, either a mechanical mod or regulated device.
  4. Welcome to VT! I'm not familiar with the MOD you mentioned... BAM? But if it won't fire anything below 0.6 Ohms, then you must build higher by making more wraps on your coils. Resistance is determined by the length of wire in the coil, so making a larger diameter coil with more wraps gives you more resistance. The thickness of the wire determines resistance per foot. 30ga wire has more resistance per foot than 26ga, so you'll need fewer wraps of 30ga to get the desired resistance, compared to 26ga wire (on the same size mandrel). Use a good calculator to determine # of wraps... such as Steam-engine.org, and remember that if you're building dual-coil set-ups... to get 1.0 Ohm, you have to build each coil to 2.0 Ohms. When you put them together on your RDA, their resistance is halved.
  5. Adding anything to the Nicotine base will reduce the Nicotine % (water it down, so to speak). I buy my Nicotine 100mg concentrations (in VG), and cut that with 100% VG to lower levels for making juice. Take great care in working with 100mg Nicotine base, and cut it to something a bit safer to handle... say 30-36mg? Wear Nitrile gloves, protect your eyes and eliminate as much exposed skin as possible... Safety First! If you're not comfortable working with high concentrations, I would suggest buying your Nicotine solution higher than you expect your mixes to be. If you're planning to mix 12mg juices, purchase 24mg or 30mg solutions in 100% VG for simplicity and greater choices in your ratios. You can always add PG, and most flavorings are PG-based, so it is easier to mix 50/50 ratios... or at least I find it easier. Plus, if you are buying your Nicotine in 24mg, you can easily mix a batch of 18mg, several batches of 12mg, and a LOT of 3mg juces ... if you are buying 12mg base, you can't mix anything higher than 12mg, and you'll go through it much faster (costing you more in the long-run).
  6. Sunlight and heat are real juice killers... Comp is right about the freezer... it won't freeze, and will keep "fresh" a loooooong time that way. I use to store all of my juices on the shelf in my office (away from direct sunlight), but even at room temps they tend to "darken"... so now, I transfer those that I regularly use (my all-day-vapes), into 30ml amber or blue Boston Round bottles (with dropper caps), and the rest go into my mini-fridge @ ~ 40-deg There's probably 300-500ml of juice in my fridge right now...
  7. Just received my Cloupor Mini... For anyone interested in the size specs... in comparison to the iStick 20W.... The Cloupor mini is exactly 1mm taller They are both exactly the same width The Cloupor mini is 1mm deeper (front to back). The iStick is rounded on the back and the Mini is not, so that makes it feel slightly different, but I actually like it. It feels a little thicker, feels like it is better quality, and is much easier for me to handle... it is also not so slick, so it doesn't slide out of my hand like the iStick does. The battery door is magnetic, and holds tight, but is easy to remove by sliding it down. The overall fit and finish looks like it costs a lot more than it did! Weight is the big difference. Even without a battery, the Cloupor weighs more: iStick ~ 90gm Cloupor Mini ~ 125gm (without battery) or ~ 160gm (with battery) The only "wish" I have is for Cloupor to use a spring-loaded center pin, rather than adjustable
  8. Tug, when they call for a "dusting" here in KY... you better have 2-weeks of food stockpiled The last "dusting" was 23", and they were still calling for "up to 4" on the weather-radio when there was already a foot on the ground... Hooker, be thankful they got it wrong... we're getting another foot today (6-7" already on the ground), and I almost wish they had estimated ours on the high side... sadly, they'll probably be on the low side again, and we'll top out well over a foot.
  9. The order I placed to Fasttech on New Year's weekend just arrived this week! Actual shipping took 6-weeks, thanks to the Chinese New Year shut-down of their postal service, and of course, our wonderfully efficient US Customs (held it for 10 days)... Generally, shipping from China takes 3-4 weeks from order to receipt, but I think anything you order between Christmas and the first of March will take twice as long.
  10. Hooker, snag a good Ohm meter from one of our trusted vendors, like Sweet-vapes or the VT store. I got my latest one (Eleaf) from one of the vendors for ~ $10. You don't have to have a dedicated meter, but it helps, so you can read resistance, and attach the coils using the meter as a stable base From what I've read, DeKang is not 100% PG. Most of their juices are 80/20, but I've read where some of their mixes are 90/10... and some are 75/25. Personally, those I've tried had the consistency and throat-hit of an 80/20 juice... But, that is the best, most scientific analysis I can give you As George suggested, you can always cut them with some pure VG to thicken them up, but you will sacrifice some flavor because you're "watering it down" so to speak...
  11. The Omega is the symbol for resistance... the Ohm-rating of your coil. What Jake was asking about is the PG/VG ratio of your e-liquid. Some have it printed on the bottle label, some don't. If it's not on the label, then tell us the brand name of the juice, as well as the flavor... maybe we can have someone that will know the ratio.
  12. The B&M I frequent most often just moved and opened a real juice bar, and there is an air-intake above the bar and the "lounge" area, which makes pretty quick work of the clouds the "kids" are attempting to produce It can get a little thick at times, but never lasts long... I think the college kids are always trying to out-do the fans... and more power to them! They're not bothering me, or customers... and they're always respectful of customers. My gripe is not with those cloud-chasing at the bar or in the lounge... mine is with the employees that can't seem to stop sucking on their drip-tip long enough to actually SPEAK to a customer or answer a question, or can't put their device down long enough to use BOTH hands to do something! The guy that was attempting to help me last night probably drained half his Atlantis in the 15-min I was in the shop! He literally stood in front of me and took two huge hits before saying "umm, yeah, what can I help you with?", as if his next vape was far more important than the customer in front of him... and perhaps he could have done his job better/faster if his Atlantis wasn't the only source of life-nourishing Oxygen in the room? And, no, he never sat it down once... he did everything one-handed! Last week, I stopped in to get juice, and the lady couldn't carry FOUR bottles of juice to the counter at the same time, because she wouldn't set her Sigelei box-mod down, and use both hands to carry the bottles (or even use two hands to put the bottles into ONE hand, then pick up her mod)... she actually made two trips across the back-room to bring the juice to the counter A couple of workers don't even have a free hand... as they are trying to drip and wait on customers... and they have to stop every 10-seconds and add a few drops to their rig... vape a few hits... and then repeat... I can only assume they are NOT paid on commission At least these guys are usually at the bar, so they don't have to go far to help someone. Seriously, I think every employee in the building is required to keep a piece of vape-gear in one hand at all times? It would be comical if it weren't so frustrating....
  13. The snow has melted... hit 60-deg today Now we're facing flooding (expecting 8-10' above flood-stage) Oh, and tomorrow, the thunderstorms and rain will change to sleet, freezing-rain, and then to snow... and we should get 12" of that... YAY Spring!
  14. Received a 3-pack of Kuro Concepts coilers in the mail today, along with a pair of coil-winding jigs and new ceramic tweezers. My Cloupor mini (30W) and 4-pack of 18650 battery boxes should be arriving tomorrow... if the bad weather in the mid-west doesn't delay them.
  15. Our company use to give out American Express gift cards to interns as a "pat on the back". I brought it up to HR many years ago, that these 16-18 yr olds couldn't get an AMEX on their own at that age, and we were promoting (or at least enabling) underage purchases online by giving them gift cards that could be used as CC (and re-loaded like any pre-paid CC that would otherwise require age-verification). HR agreed, and after that, they received actual (taxable) income, or corporate-logo merchandise. We don't even give out Amazon or Wal-mart gift cards to anyone under 21, just in case they were to use it to purchase something "adult".
  16. I ordered mine late Friday, early Saturday, so it shipped today. Expected delivery on Wednesday (if the weather holds). I've ordered things from TN before, which went to NC, VA, PA, OH, IN, then to IL before heading back to KY Sometimes the USPS just likes to take our packages on an "adventure"
  17. Let me recommend a battery that will be more "regulated" and less prone to burning your juice/coils. The iStick mini and 20W are very strange breeds of batteries, and they just aren't very good at preventing spikes that burn and hurt.... at least that is my experience I would suggest you pick up a Vision Spinner 1300mAh (original Spinner), MVP 2.0 or 20W, a Smok Winder, or EVOD Twist in 1100mAh or 1300mAh. I am a firm believer that the iStick mini is causing your issues! Start with a different battery, clean tank, and fresh coil... I think you're experience will be MUCH more satisfactory
  18. Higher nicotine levels are necessary to get you over the cravings of analogs... 18mg or 24mg is not uncommon... some heavy smokers even require 30 or 36mg! The reason vaping is not working is probably two reasons... #1, the nicotine level is too low (equivalent to smoking about 5 ultra-lights half-way and snuffing them out), and #2, you have to break the cycle of lighting up by vaping through the cravings (as much as you can, anyway), and higher nicotine levels will help. Is it the throat-hit or taste that is keeping you from going higher? If so, try another flavor, another brand, and definitely try a lower PG mixture ratio... 50/50 ratios are very low throat-hit, even with 18-24mg nicotine. If that is too much, try 30/70 ratio... 9 times out of 10, finding the right juice (pg/vg ratio, flavor, and nicotine level) is the key to success!
  19. It's a common misconception that higher (or lower) resistance (or Wattage, or Voltage) will affect vapor production in some huge fashion. Lower resistance coils operate hotter than higher resistance coils (considering same Voltage applied to them), because lower resistance coils will draw more Amps. Higher resistance coils draw fewer Amps, and therefore will prolong the life of your battery. Higher resistance coils also take longer to heat up (and longer to cool down), compared to lower resistance coils, which is why chain-vaping with high resistance coils is not desired, because it will heat up the atomizer/tank/juice. Study Ohm's Law a bit more, and you'll begin to see the relationship between Resistance, Voltage, Wattage, and Amps. Simply throwing more Voltage or Wattage to a coil does not make it produce more vapor or more flavor... there is a delicate balance between the variables, and it will not be the same for every person, every tank/RTA/RDA, every battery-device... because every person's tastes are different/unique, and we all perceive juice flavors differently. So, the short answer, no.. using a higher resistance coil will not give you more vapor. As I said above... VG content of the juice is what determines the potential for vapor production. From there, it's a balance of power, surface-area, heat, volume, and air-flow... There is no magic number of "use this juice, this ratio, this device and get max flavor/vapor"... if that were the case, there would not be thousands of different devices/juices on the market....
  20. Vapor is produced by the VG content. Flavor (and throat-hit) is carried by the PG content. Therefore, in order to maximize vapor, you diminish flavor... to get a little better flavor, you sacrifice vapor. 50/50 juices are the best of both worlds, but nowhere near producing room-filling-fog from a single hit To me, anything with more VG content than 30/70 PG/VG juices have little flavor (and a sweet glycerine flavor, which I can't stand). So, the "unicorn" of maximum, thick vapor, with a pinnacle of flavor... does not exist... you have to sacrifice one for the other, and find the balance you can live with for your personal satisfaction.
  21. For the juices I vape, I prefer 0.8 Ohms or higher in my RDAs. The flavor is better (not hot/burnt/harsh), and the battery lasts MUCH longer because you're pulling fewer Amps on each hit. I can see (understand) the need to run <0.25 Ohms if you're chasing clouds, but just because you CAN go super-sub-ohm, doesn't mean you have to One of my favorite analogies ... Just because your car's speedometer registers up to 200mph, doesn't mean you have to floor-it and DO 200mph every time you pull out of the driveway . To me, one of my favorite dripping juices seems to peak flavor around the 1.0 Ohm range with my RDAs (and 1.4 -1.6 Ohms in my RTA), but your rig and juice may peak flavor at different levels... not all set-ups (or preferences) are equal (thankfully, lol)
  22. Nope, wouldn't accept it if it were I think we've both spent our limits for a few weeks... and I want to give my new purchases a thorough run before recommending them, beyond "here is something that might work for you"... I FULLY endorse the IPV-minis and mini2... but they've (so far) proven to be everything they've said they would... I have a Cloupor mini on the way (Thanks for the best-price update, Jason), and hope it will perform as expected. If so, I'll see another in my near-future for perfect, light-weight, pocket-size travel companions....
  23. Yeah, I need to stop too... but it's soooo hard to do I think if I weren't so frustrated with the iSticks, I would not be looking to replace them, but I think the Cloupor minis may be the answer... good chip-set, good regulation, and still TINY size and tiny price-tag. I have plenty of the IPV-minis (and a V2), and always have my MVP for basic tanks... I just need something tiny and portable for travel... The iSticks are perfect size, but I just wish they didn't suck so badly in their chip-set, and to fix that would cost as much as a Cloupor anyway, so why not just go that route, right? Hey Tam... I have something new for you to buy
  24. Yes, I've actually saved money... maybe $4 overall, but man, I do feel better about spending money on vape-gear than analogs... and if I ever gave up on vaping, I can always SELL my used gear... you can't sell used cigarettes
