  1. +50 Tam, I had a couple of ml of Comp's snickerdoodle left over, so I enticed her with that Mirage, I told her about the forum and gave her a VT Store "business card" too... I think with my next order, I may request a few more cards... I'm out
  2. Cool kit Hooker... but you might want to secure those batteries with a few more dividers and/or into proper plastic cases to prevent anything from shorting one out
  3. The Wattage range will depend on the juice. Some juices will go up to 20W without tasting burnt or even "hot", and some will start to get that burnt taste at 11W. There is no "one size fits all", which is why devices are variable, and why there are so many choices in coil resistances If that juice tastes good at 12W, then that is where you should leave your setting. If you try to go higher, bump it up a tiny bit, try it, bump it again, try it, etc. Once you start to taste a little "burnt", then back off your setting a bit... 0.2W or more, and that is the "sweet-spot" for that juice. And, yes, pushing any coil at high wattages will shorten their life-span, but also, it depends on the coil...
  4. Will do! I'll keep encouraging her, and keep asking her how her juice/coils are holding out... just to let her know I'm genuinely interested in her progress and success
  5. Thanks! I've got two good friends at that office that smoke like freight-trains... I watched one of them smoke three Camels today (by lighting only one) while on a break. They're my next projects!!
  6. Today's vape-mail wasn't that glamorous... 50, plastic 10ml bottles from Amazon, another box of Nitrile gloves to use when mixing juices and working on the vehicles, and a 5-each of 3ml and 1ml syringes with (not so) blunt-tip 16ga filler needles.
  7. Now that I'm back in an office (not working from home), I have had LOTS of opportunities to talk to even more people about vaping! One of my co-workers had tried vaping a while back, and basically started out with an over-priced eGo from a smoke-shop... no support, no knowledge, and obviously gave it up rather quickly... She was asking about what I used, and what would be good for her to get started again. She wasn't really wanting to spend another $100 and get nothing out of it, so I set her up with one of my iStick 20W and a KPT2 as a loaner. I went with her on lunch today and helped her pick out a juice at the local vape shop, which fortunately was only a couple blocks from the office. I showed her how to adjust the Voltage / Wattage, disassemble the tank, fill the tank, change the coils, etc., and I also gave her a handful of coils I had re-built @ 2.2 Ohm (which are perfect for the iSticks!). Well, she just sent me an email, asking if I would sell her the iStick and tank, because she doesn't want to give them back She's hooked! She also wants me to go back with her tomorrow, so she can buy another battery and more tanks/coils/juice. I told her the blue iStick and KPT2 would be my gift to her, and I had a silver one I'd sell her for what I paid for it (from the VT store), to save her some $ over retail.... So, I guess tomorrow we'll be off to the vape shop again for more juice and additional tank shopping, lol. I think I'm nearly as excited as she is
  8. It's okay Jason... I hear there's a 12-step program just for us... 12 steps to this vape store... 12 steps to the next vape store... 12 steps to the computer...
  9. Next month... maybe Right now I'm still trying to figure out what to do with all of IPV-minis, and these two Cloupor minis... Sheesh, now I need more 18650's!
  10. Yep, although you have a hard time finding them lately, amongst all those IPV-minis and iStick collection [you're welcome, BTW]
  11. Hahaha... yes, I meant CAT hair, lol... stupid auto-spell.... I told Tug that his stand would be delayed a couple days because my cat had decided it would be a good idea to lay on it (about 4-5 hours after applying the last coat of satin)... I would have loved to have seen the look on his face when he stood up and that big chunk of wood followed him off the table Seeing that would have made the extra time spent sanding and re-applying polyurethane worth every minute!!
  12. Do a little here, a little there... The hard part is waiting for the stain to dry, or sanding the cat hair out of the polyurethane
  13. When it comes to cleaning, I tend to unscrew / remove everything I can, but in all honesty, when it comes to the deck, there is very little places that oil can get into that hot water, soap, and "running" hot water can't reach. Vodka or pure-grain alcohol (Ever Clear) will remove anything else left behind (and will remove water from the crevices). Pay close attention to the threaded areas, those tend to be the real "pockets" for oil. I use an old toothbrush for cleaning threads!
  14. I've yet to find one (new) that didn't require a massive scrubbing... Some, twice!
  15. ^^ This ^^ Never have I been held-up behind the Senior Citizen bus
  16. Hooker, you'll love that Magma! I have 3 RDA's, and the Magma is the only one that sees regular use...
  17. Not yet, Tam... After buying two Cloupor Minis, I've tapped-out my mod budget for the moment I have held one in my hand at the local B&M, and wasn't turned off by them, and I do like the uber-battery in them, too. Maybe in a few weeks I can justify sneaking one into the house without anyone yelling at me for "buying more stuff" I think I need to lay low for a few weeks anyway... with all the DIY mixing supplies that are now cluttering the kitchen
  18. It is always good to have a backup, and a backup for your backup As Tam said (very wisely, I might add)... I'd stop using that V2 as soon as you get something else, more reliable, and not damaged. Whether you go with an internal battery mod like the iStick, or an external (changeable) battery mod like an IPV-mini, etc. is up to you and your tastes/preferences/wallet. Oh, I didn't mean to dog the Sigelei, but for the price, there are better mods out there... to me the Sigelei is not a comfortable mod to hold... and others have complained about their function being far less than stellar. That is why I suggested the IPV and Cloupor minis... I have both and find them both to be comfortable and reliable. Actually, I'm using the Cloupor right now
  19. Excellent point Jason... I did notice that they seemed a bit too short. The Kuro Koiler rods are MUCH longer because you gain the length that sits down in the main body. The Coil-master rods are basically what-you-see-is-what-you-get in length... I see how with some RDA's it might be difficult to tweak a long coil or work around a deep well.
  20. For the cost and what they are... I'd pass on the Sigelei mini and get an IPV-mini for cheaper, or a Cloupor mini for even cheaper than that. Although, you have to consider the cost of a pair (or more) of GOOD 18650 batteries and a good charger. For batteries, I recommend Samsung 25r, Sony VTC4 (watch for fakes), LG H2, or Purple eFest (also watch for clones). For a charger, you can't go wrong with Nitecore or Lucfest. Expect to infest at least $40 in a pair of good batteries and charger if you decide to go the route of box-mods that take separate batteries.
  21. The part that popped off is the top cap of the eGo connector... they do come apart there sometimes, as that is how they install the battery and circuitry. A little super-glue there should be fine, but it will eventually pop loose again. Tam mentioned some good box-mods, and for a new vaper (for simplicity and expense), I'd stick with the eLeaf iStick 50W or 30W... or an Innokin MVP 2.0, 3.0, or 20W models. SMY makes a nice, slim 35W mod which is supposed to be pretty good, although I've not tried one yet. For ones that require separate batteries, the Cloupor mini is excellent, small, and inexpensive (compared to others). I do love my IPV-mini's though
  22. I've made several coils today with my Coil-Master tool... At first, I wasn't very impressed... my first two coils (one with 26ga, one with 30ga) were not even... the wire actually wanted to stack and slip as each turn was made. The heads on the screws are not tall/high enough to really capture the wire...either that, or the bevel that catches the wire is not deep enough? Anyway, I figured that if you leave the wire coming out of the hole "as-is", and not trying to "start" the first turn like on the Kuro Koiler, it makes a MUCH better coil. The coils are comparable to the Kuro Koiler. Smooth, tight, and even. I tried 2-strand, twisted 32ga, 2-strand twisted 30ga, 4-strand twisted 32ga, and of course, single-strand 32, 30, 28, and 26ga wires. Making a twisted 4-strand coil on the 1mm mandrel was "interesting" to say the least But it was possible by going slow. The design concept of interchangeable rods (with their own cap) is a brilliant idea, and they have designed that concept well. I found the 3mm, 2.5mm, and 2.0mm rods were best suited for my needs, and using the 1.5mm rod made it VERY easy to build a KPT coil. I think with the 1.0mm rod, you could easily rebuild Kanger BDC (dual coils)? What I think they could to better... Slightly larger body would make it easier to grip. OR, perhaps knurling on the body and cap? Identify the size of the cap on the side, as well as, or instead of the top of the cap? Also make the printing more bold? Perhaps offering a 3.5mm and a 4mm rod as well? Slightly taller screw-heads, or increase the bevel to better grab the larger wires? For the price of this tool, I highly recommend it over the Kuro Koiler set ($60). It functions just as well, and offers two additional sizes for one price!
  23. Hi, Ray, and welcome to Vapor Talk. It would help to know what brand/size/style battery you have, as well as the tank/clearomizer, but based loosely on the description, you have a short in your coil, or your coil's resistance is too low for the battery to handle. Give us some more info, and in the meantime, clean off the top of your battery with a tissue and charge your battery fully. Also, change the coil in your tank/clearomizer (and clean the bottom of the tank well too)... these things always help Worst thing is that your battery has gone bad... cheap knock-offs do that sometimes within a few months of use, and even better, name-brands will die-off without warning... no battery lasts forever...
  24. Menthol will cloud/crack tanks too, but Cinnamon is the worst...
