  1. I started with VTC4's from Sony (have 4 of them), but I've changed over to running only Samsung 25r's in all my mods (mech or regulated). I bought the last 5 from a local B&M's Christmas sale, and picked up 4 more from Amazon... at an average price of $6.50 each, and great reliability... you can't beat them! Jason is right on the Cloupor minis... VapeNW has them for $30, but unless you have a charger and 18650 batteries, you are driving up the price to $50, after, of course, buying a pair of batteries and a decent charger. Still though, the Cloupor does allow on-board charging, so you can get away with ONE battery for now, and just charge it with a USB cable (just like you would the iStick). Then, you can pick up more batteries and a good charger next time you have change to spare on more equipment
  2. Yep, one more stuck against the magnet at the top
  3. I got mine in the mail today Tug... same kit, and I agree it is really nice for holding everything you need to build coils or fix/tweak an RDA/RTA. Comp, the little plastic box won't hold wire in it (six compartments), but you can easily place several strips of 3-4" of wire UNDER it. You could also cut some "V's" into the slots in the box, and lay a few strands of wire across the top of the compartments. The only thing I've found that wasn't 100% on this kit is the Ohm Meter... mine is reading a tiny bit low, but still within 2% accuracy. The ceramic tweezers are really nice, and have replaceable tips! Also, Tug... check your screwdriver... there are more than 5 tips in there I banged mine on the table and 7 fell out (4 flat-head, 3 Philips-head) They've also updated the Coil Master winding tool... the one in the kit is much better quality than the first one I received, but I still wish the sizes were stamped on the sides of the heads (rather than on top), and still wish the heads were knurled for better grip... because the diameter is so much less than the Kuro Coilers.
  4. Yep, I agree... it's hard to defend vaping as a smoking cessation tool that is safer and healthier than smoking... when two people behind you have just "fogged-out" the entire crowd with a couple of hits of 100%VG in their $500 rigs I, too, despise going into some vape shops in the local area... I feel like I'm entering a seedy "adult bookstore"... dark, loud music, no windows (or blacked-out windows), and when you open the door, the vape-cloud rolls out like you're entering a haunted-house.... Honestly, after my last issue with a "good" vape-shop getting mad at me because I knew the difference between a KFL+ and a (mythical) Russian 91%... I've not stepped foot in a shop for myself; however, I did take a noob co-worker to one last month, because she needed help selecting juice, "today".
  5. I watched it religiously until the season after we lost Phil... he was the heart of the show, and it lost it's appeal to me at that point.
  6. They're dripping high NIC e-liquids into things like Red Bull... high caffeine, and a Nicotine buzz... and the carbonated drink speeds it to your system, much the same reason people use Tonic, cola, or Soda water with alcohol... it speeds up the intoxication effect. These are also the same "kids" that will huff paint or gasoline... looking for that cheap buzz.... and the reason I have to show ID to buy a can of Krylon these days... because as an adult, I'm not as likely to huff it or use it for graffiti... (in the infinite wisdom of our politicians).
  7. Haha... maybe he's "trying" to get rid of her? LOL JK I have to agree... get her the same set-up you have... and neither of you will be envious of the other's rig
  8. Six months ago, I was running ~ 20ml/week, with a bit more if using my RTA's. Since I've started DIY, and cut my Nicotine levels by half what I was using last fall.. I expected my weekly ML to increase... but it hasn't... I'm still running the same ml/week, well, actually a bit less... between 15 and 20ml/week, regardless of tank or RTA I use.
  9. I've read study after study... and the two most effective-measures studies were conducted in Europe (Greece and Germany), where they sealed people in a room (while they smoked or vaped) and measured the second-hand smoke and second-hand vapor using gas chromatography. The conclusion from both studies showed between 1/35 and 1/75 the level of second-hand nicotine from vaping, as compared to smoking... and the test subjects were using 17-36mg Nicotine (while the smokers were using anything from ultra-lights to "reds", with the avg person using "lights"). So, think of it this way... you'd have to be in a room with 35 people vaping 36mg Nicotine juices to get the same second-hand nicotine as ONE PERSON in the room smoking a Marlboro Light! If the vapers were vaping 12mg Nicotine, you'd have to have 105 of them in the same room to equal ONE smoker's second-hand nicotine spew! The residual second-hand from smokers also contained several known carcinogens (in levels that were considered HIGH), and several other "irritants" that are known to cause or compound asthma, COPD, eye/skin irritants... the list goes on... BUT, the other residuals from vaping were compounds found in the every-day air we breathe (and in lesser quantities). The only real "residue" from vaping was a tiny bit of glycerine that stuck to the Lexan walls of the test chambers... and by tiny bit, I mean levels measured that were considered very safe (negligible) by CDC/FDA/WHO standards... a few PPM. So, in answer to your question... yes, "I" consider it safe to vape around anyone, but as Bebob and BCarter pointed out... I will refrain from vaping where socially unacceptable (restaurant table or someone else's house), unless I'm told otherwise it is okay. I do vape in the car with my children, even my 5-yr old, but I don't blow it in his face... and, just like when I smoked, I crack the window to allow an escape-route for any vapor cloud when he's in the car with me. Also, a bit of info... I vape 50/50 juices in the car, and my windows do NOT need cleaning every week like they did when I smoked... as a matter of fact, I don't think I've cleaned the interior of my windshield in several months, and it's still crystal-clear!
  10. The center post of your box-mod should have a screw-top... try turning it counter-clockwise by half a turn and see if that fixes the issue. If not, turn it another half-turn (and continue testing and unscrewing) until the issue resolves. The issue is the center pin on the subtank is not making a GOOD connection to the center post of your mod. This is why they are adjustable... not every tank's center pin is the same length...
  11. Yeah, yeah... but stopping at 2 batteries and going with two or three Davide tanks, and that frees up $40-45 for a few bottles
  12. I have four IPV mini (three 30W and a 70W), and I think they are the best things since sliced bread I also have two Cloupor Minis (30W), and they are so much nicer than the iStick 30W in the way they feel (sturdy, and they are the same physical size, give or take a millimeter or two), and just like the IPV-minis, they use 18650 batteries, so if I pack a spare battery or two, regardless of which device I'm using, I'll not have to worry about charging cables.... So, if you want a VV/VW device with 30W and replaceable batteries, you should consider the Clourpor Mini... Several sites have them for $30, so two of those would set you back $60. Add in a decent NiteCore charger (i2 or i4) for $10-18 (Amazon has great prices), and at least a pair of Samsung 24r batteries for $14-25 (they generally run $6.50 each, also on Amazon)... So, now you're at $100 for two devices, four batteries, and a charger... The remaining $50 in your budget could buy as many as five Davide tanks or 3-4 Kanger Protank 2's. Check out VapeNW.com... they have the Cloupor Minis for $30 and the AnyVape Davide tanks for $10. Amazon is a great source for your Charger and batteries (I highly recommend the Samsung 25r).
  13. Nicotine is not dangerous at all... it is mildly addictive, just like caffeine. Nicotine is also found in EVERY plant, vegetable and fruit on the planet! Eggplant, tomatoes, broccoli, potatoes, squash.... all contain some of the highest levels in fruits/vegetables. One Eggplant has the equivalent of 1/2-1 cigarette per serving! A whole, ripe tomato is nearly the same... Nicotine has never been responsible for a single case of cancer, either. These are facts the government and health officials don't want you to know! There is nothing wrong with wanting to cut away your Nicotine, just like choosing to avoid caffeinated beverages... but don't demonize Nicotine based on the propaganda spewed by the media and health-officials and government entities.
  14. I use to get dry-ice from the local hospital and health department. They receive meds, vaccinations, etc packed in dry-ice, and will give it away, along with the little Styrofoam shipping boxes too... or at least they use to... If someone doesn't use it, they just let it evaporate and toss the boxes after a few days anyway.
  15. Yeah, it's much worse in CA (and many big cities in other states), where the lawyers have made it impossible for anyone to flush a toilet without three letters of intent, a waiver from your cardiologist that it's safe for you to be pushing the handle, and $50M in liability insurance! Here in KY, (in the larger cities) it takes 4 fire trucks to get a cat out of a tree, but a fender-bender takes 30-min for a cop to show up... an hour later, you'll get 2 ambulances, rescue-squad, at least 2 fire trucks, and half a dozen cops. BUT, in the sticks where I live, you can call the Sheriff before you axe-murder a whole bus-load of nuns, and have time to dispose of the bodies and concoct an alibi before ONE cop shows up
  16. My first foray into vaping led me to e-Swisher (closest cigar flavor I could find), and they weren't bad flavor for the first 10 puffs, then they just started giving that burnt silica smell and flavor... YUK! Vapor production was about what you'd expect from 90/10 or 100/0 juices, too... NOT satisfying at all! They also didn't last for 400 puffs... heck, barely 150 before the battery died (on the disposables), and the rechargeable were even worse... I'd go through 3 batteries and two cartridges a day Which, is why I never got away from analogs while attempting to use them, even though I tried using them for nearly a year... before finding the TRUE vape-gear! I still hate myself for wasting hundreds of dollars on these disposables and rechargeable kits... knowing all that wasted money went straight to Big-Tobacco still makes me sick to my stomach!
  17. Thanks for the read... and your brother is one smart cookie for knowing the meat of the pamphlet has to do with the possible cause of fire due to Li-Ion battery charging issues... Sadly, the pamphlet is written with a ton of info from WHO, FDA, FEMA, and other politically oriented organizations that slanted a lot of the wording and data to show e-cigs as a demon to be eradicated (or at least sin-taxed). I understand the need of fire personnel and investigators to know the potential issue with Li-Ion batteries, but how does this info assist a first-responder? Other than to aid the propaganda-machine to now blame all fires in the homes/vehicles/work-places where vaping gear is found... on the vaping gear! This is just like how the doctor listed the cause of death of my grandmother as "smoking related", even though she died of passive heart-failure in her sleep at the age of 97 (just because she smoked 2-packs a day). She also drank 2-6 beers every day of her adult life, but they didn't list her cause of death as alcoholism... because that doesn't fit their agenda!
  18. Nope, you're not being picky... we'll need a bit more info as Bebob said Welcome, BTW... glad you finally "joined-up" The IPV-mini2 is excellent, but not quite what I would consider a beginner or even moderate-advanced user equipment because you have to use rechargeable batteries (and buy a dedicated charger)... and as a beginner, you'll NOT need 70 Watts of power (rarely do any of us need 70W, lol). When you start out, you want to maximize your equipment for minimum cost, so you can save some cash for the "pursuit of juice". Rarely will you find your flavor out of the starting gate, and rarely will your first choice in tanks, coil resistance, or batteries be your go-to forever. As you start out, you'll want at least two batteries (of whatever style you choose) so you can have one to use and one to charge (or two flavors running at the same time). You'll also want a bare minimum of two tanks so you can switch flavors, try new flavors, etc. Personally, I'd recommend 4-6 tanks, even if they are the disposable Ce4's, so you can get more bang for your buck and be able to try many flavors without having to clean tanks and waste coils. Good starter tanks are Kanger ProTank 2's (or something similar from Davide, Aspire, Innokin, etc.). The KPT2 are suggested because they are inexpensive (compared to others), vape well, and have cheap replacement coils... After more than a year of vaping, I still use my KPT2 and AeroTanks daily!
  19. Yes, we are the new "smokers", and the ONLY advocates and voices, up against the wolves at the door... the politicians, big tobacco, and the media, which are all about spreading their misinformation so they can continue to set-up the scenario for regulations and taxes! I'm with B... I've seen nothing but positives since I kicked Big-Tobacco out of my life (and wallet)! Well, there is one down-side I've seen, lol... a bad case of shiny-itis... where I have to have the newest piece of vaping hardware
  20. But... But... You're not old enough to have been a legal smoker two years ago Congrats!
  21. VapeNW.com has (or had) the Davide full-size for $9, and the mini's for $6. I bought a stainless full-size and two gold-tone mini's last month, when I ordered another Cloupor mini. The Davide are just like the KPT2... no sub-ohm capable, no RBA deck.... and they're not "hot"... like Tam said, they use the standard KPT2 coils. Personally, I think they have a slightly better flavor than the KPT2 (but comparable to the AeroTank, IMO), and a little better air-flow (with the standard bases). I didn't expect to let go of my minis, but a co-worker was drooling over them, so I paid them forward to him... but I kept the full-size!
  22. I don't think Comp will be hurt if you don't, but I think everyone should try a few of his juices... especially the PBFB! That stuff should come standard with a cold glass of milk!
  23. A dry burn will turn any residue to ash... simply blow it away with your breath or a quick shot from a can of compressed air, if you feel it necessary... Personally, after a half-dozen bursts from the battery, to get the coil nice and orange, there is rarely anything left that doesn't disappear on its own... I've never had any residue come off on the cotton when I re-wick, so that tells me a good dry-burn does not require a "water rinse" or anything more to remove residue.
