Welcome to the nut-house... er... VaporTalk! If you're worried about your marriage, we promise, we won't tell her how much of your money we'll help you spend

Things that will burn up a coil fast are dark/sweet juices, and running really high Wattage. The iStick 20W run much hotter than they display, so if your target is 14W, you should be setting the iStick at ~ 8W, maybe 10W max. Running a Nautilus mini at 18W is asking for it to fail quickly. One of my co-workers was told by the B&M "expert" to run her Nautilus mini at 18-24W for "best flavor", and she was complaining to me how the coils didn't last a day (and her juices were hot and burnt, compared to how they tasted in her Kanger ProTank 2's)... Unfortunately, once juice gets in there and messes with the circuit board, there is little you can do, as the damage is likely already done. To prevent it in the future, keep an eye on your tanks and coils...look for any leakage... swab out the base with a bit of tissue each time you fill the tank... and always dab out any juice that makes its way onto the top of the battery! You may not catch it all, but you should be able to prevent huge gobs of the stuff from getting inside all at once (or at steady stream).

The "randomly going up in Volts" would seem to point to e-liquid has leaked into the battery circuitry. The Nautilus (and mini) leak a few drops of e-liquid through the atomizer head, and into the base, which then eventually finds it's way past the spring, pin, and seal. Juice gets into the top of the battery and slides right by the pin, and onto the circuit board. Get enough inside the battery, and they do crazy things, up to and including not working at all. The pin getting pushed down is a common occurrence, not just isolated to the iSticks... it happens to all "floating pin" batteries eventually, but that does not seem to be your issue. BTW, Welcome to VT! Stop by the New Vapers section and introduce yourself

And don't forget... a kid walking down the street with a baseball bat over his shoulder is considered a "disturbed child with a lethal weapon" these days, when 30-yrs ago, he was just on his way to/from baseball practice or the pick-up game in the vacant field....

Thanks Adversarious1! I said something a while back to a co-worker... and I think it's relevant in this thread... Vaping is to Big Tobacco as the bicycle is to the Big-3 Auto-makers... yeah, think about that... The bicycle is a less harmful mode of transportation, but it is not a threat to the Big-3 because not enough people are trading cars for bikes... BUT, if they DID? Politicians would be in a panic... no more gasoline taxes, no more registration fees and taxes, no more property taxes... auto sales would be through the floor, politicians wouldn't be getting their kick-backs and lobby money... Suddenly, there would be a huge push to impose higher taxes on bicycles, registration of bicycles, licensing of bicycles, odometers on bicycles (so they could tax you on the miles), charging for parking of bicycles, fees for transfer-of-ownership of bicycles.... It may not happen in the US, but it has (to some degree) in other countries... bicycles, scooters, motorcycles... all are a threat to the economic wealth (for state/local/federal governments), and the moment they cut into those profits... taxes, fees, regulation goes into effect! It's NEVER about public health, or the health of the individual, or individual choice... it's always... ALWAYS... about the MONEY! A few years ago, vaping was considered a "fad"... a small niche market... but now that more and more people are dropping analogs in favor of vaping, we've peed in the Cheerios of Big Tobacco AND government... which is why we're the target we are today. If everyone in the country parked their car, never bought a new one, and decided to ride a bicycle every day... you better believe bicycles would be produced by Ford, GM, and Chrysler, and they'd have huge fees/taxes/registrations, we'd have to have a bicycle license, and the newest 2-wheeler from Ford would likely cost $8,000 (because it would come with gov't mandated seat-belt and air-bags, a 6-speaker JBL stereo, and back-up camera (as an option, of course)! Huffy and Schwinn would be pushed out of the market because they'd not meet new "safety standards"... It gripes my rear-end knowing that my neighbor over-paid for a Prius and gets a gov't pat-on-the-back in the way of tax incentives for getting 40mpg in their hybrid... yet I ride a motorcycle that produces less pollution (smaller engine), causes less damage to road surfaces, and gets 50% more MPG! Where's my tax incentive?? Oh, that's right... it's not an AUTO...

Okay, I'll step back onto my soap-box.... That's the problem... politicians "expect" that money to be rolling in, and they spend it years before it actually shows up (and rarely does these days because over half the country is unemployed or under-employed). The tobacco settlements were supposed to go for "public health initiatives", but our politicians have played the shell-game and spent 80-90% of the expected money on other things... because it was never about "public health", it was about the MONEY... now they are panicked because people are doing what they wanted them to do... stop smoking... and now their cash-cow of sin-taxes and settlement checks is dying.... and states are poised to default on loans, bonds, and other unpaid projects. Politicians want vaping to be classified as "tobacco products" so they can get a win-win... 1) sin-taxes on the e-liquids and gear, and 2) by classifying vaping as a tobacco product, they can hold Big Tobacco hostage by forcing them to pay-up even more on the settlement agreement. Big Tobacco is forced to push more money to the states this way... which is why they (as an Oligopoly, a legal monopoly) are strong-arming politicians to pass laws to outlaw vaping or at least pass the sunset clause to make all vaping gear but THEIR e-cigs illegal... then they can have the lion's share of the market (to make-up for their losses in analog sales, and provide what the states "expect" them to pay, per settlement agreements). It doesn't take a Master's Degree in Economics to figure this crap out! And, I'm sick and tired of our government spending money they don't have (and then raising taxes or creating new taxes to cover their over-spending). It's a never-ending cycle! Now, if you or I write a check for a $200,000 home (without any money in the bank) and try to use the excuse that "Well, I've got a plan to hit the lottery, so the money will be there in a few weeks"... and see how that flies! But, this is exactly what our government is doing DAILY! I am 100% against any sin-taxes on e-cigs, e-liquid, or hardware. I am 100% against any politician who pushes for such laws or taxes. Politicians like the one in the video should be out of a job tomorrow, IMO! Big Tobacco is threatened by vaping. I say let them be threatened... let the free-market run them out of business, or at least reduce them to a minor force in the economy. But this is not going to happen until "We The People" stand up for our rights and our freedoms... reduce the economic strangle-hold our government has on us... and return our country to the free-market society that allowed us to prosper decades ago. Our government/politicians need to be required to take a few Economics courses... then they'd realize that lower taxes (and fewer things taxed/regulated) will evolve a stronger economy (more jobs, more sales, better salaries), which will in turn provide more raw-dollars flowing into the economy, and thus into the government coffers. Basic math is a strange concept to our government... I would much rather have 1% of $1M, rather than 75% of $10,000! We cannot keep this pace of tax/spend any longer! Pretty soon the only ones with jobs in this country will be government employees... and without US to provide their income, how will they get paid?? Vaping -vs- Big Tobacco is bringing the disparity and hypocrisy of our government's spending policies to light, and we must win! If we don't win this battle, then the war is lost for everyone (not just vapers).... [steps off soapbox]

whats yer weather? pic...

Fog so thick you can cut it, this morning... expecting 80-deg today, and the rain starts back again tomorrow (and expecting rainy / cool weather for next 2-weeks) I was looking at the pool last night... I drained it 2' for the winter, and all the snow and rain we've had, has not only filled it back up, it's been overflowing for quite some time.... -
Yep, I've found that if I build my Russians to 1.3-1.4 Ohm, they are at their best performance! I can only imagine the SubTank 1.2 Ohm coils are a very similar experience...
-
When I get a dry hit on my RTA's... I tighten up the airflow a bit, and that seems to fix the issue more times than not... then again, you might have just gotten a dud coil
-
Airflow wide open? Did you try cutting it back some?
-
Buy her some Kool-aid packets... they're much cheaper

Well, considering that all the flavorings I have bought have suggested mixtures for cola, water, and food products... and they are all food-safe ingredients... Excerpt from one of the flavor descriptions: ...produce the best natural flavor enhancers that may be applied to any kind of food or beverage such as Diet Shakes, Oatmeal, Pudding, Espresso–based drinks, brewed Coffee and Tea, Martinis, Smoothies, Italian sodas, Desserts, e-juice, e-liquid and more... Your favorite coffee shops and bars use very similar (or even the exact same) water-soluble flavorings and extracts to add flavor to your beverages....

I've not made it up there for that one, but I have a friend that lives in Detroit (yes, by choice, lol) that has mentioned it. I think he's been a couple of times? He's also mentioned some type of informal "perimeter-run" that people up there tend to ride at least once in their life... where they ride the highways that circle the state, and make a weekend or week out of it?

I knew the tank looked like a Yamaha, but the seat and pipes made me think of a '79-81 Suzuki. Boy, was I way off Here's my baby, '02 Sabre, up close... sporting the Mustang seat I added last year for long-distance comfort... and one of the whole stable... and the Goldwing I snagged last summer to rebuild (currently in a few thousand pieces).

Those ribs / rings around the top of an RDA... sometimes also at the bottom. They help to disperse heat by increasing the surface area.
-
Comp, is that a Suzuki GS425?
-
Very different, at the same wattage... because the lower resistance coil will heat faster and be "hotter". It will also cool down faster, which makes it more desirable for chain-vaping or a quick-hit. The higher resistance coil will take longer to heat, run "cooler", take longer to cool down... which will add heat to your juices, turning them darker in a tank, but should have far less effect to juice in an RDA. But, it may make the RDA body warm (even with cooling fins)

cheap cloud chasing for my girl
Earthling789 replied to radnate's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Yeah, it's more of what I've always called sea-foam-green, but perhaps a tiny bit darker? Not my first choice of colors either, but now that I look at it... it might look nice in my bathroom next time I have to paint -

Yeah, I stole the image... LOL... -
They are nice kits... Tug, did you notice how much they had on them for retail-price for the pre-order? Just the meter, tweezers, screwdriver, coil-master-coiler, and nice case should put them at least in the $60-80 range, IMO.

Good Evening Everyone......
Earthling789 replied to cany's topic in The Vape Lounge - Off Topic Chat
Had a check-up today, actually... and Doc said they are healing nicely... no shifting, color is coming back, and the swelling is going down (but not enough to where I can wear a shoe comfortably). Maybe sometime next week they'll let me actually walk on it more than just to the bathroom and back? lol Thanks for asking, Tam! Just your asking makes me feel better -

I'm kicked back in the recliner (because I can't go anywhere else at the moment)... watching the latest episode of iZombie, vaping my own concoction of Dark Chocolate Raspberry... -
Not my cup of tea either, Tam... But, it sounds like you were at a vape show with everyone I attended high school with
