  1. It looks like that is press-fit. You'll need to flare the head of the threaded piece and re-press it, OR weld or solder that with a conductive material... JB-Weld won't work as it is a horrible conductor of electricity, and you need to conduct electricity up those threads to the body. That is your ground from your battery. No conductivity = no coil firing....
  2. Welcome! And congrats on kicking the analogs... or at least getting pretty close in such a short time! You're set-ups sound like a really good choice. How much did each of you smoke daily (regular, lights, what?), and what mg nicotine level did they sell you?
  3. I've not tried the Nautilus, and I've heard about equal good and bad on them... but everyone says when they work, they have good flavor / vapor. But, I have friends with Nautilus tanks, and side-by-side, I produce just as much vapor (using 50/50 juice and an AeroTank) as they do. I'm not a cloud-chaser, so vapor production for me is all about flavor and nicotine delivery... which my AeroTanks and KPT2's do just fine for that. Now, for me, I love my Kanger ProTank2's and AeroTanks! I use an Air Flow Control base on the KPT2's, which really helps to dial-in your draw. As for vapor... I get plenty vapor from the KPT2's single-coils, and a bit more from the dual-coils on the AeroTanks. Coils are cheap... I've bought some as low as $0.75 each (in bulk), up to $1.60 each for duals... but if you look hard you can pick up 50-count boxes for $36 (single-coils) and $42-45 for dual-coils... so they're both under a buck a coil, which is 1/3 the price of Aspire coils... which still makes the Kanger's a bargain, IMO, even if you have to replace coils twice as often over the Nautilus! Another factor is that I've averaged <$10 tank on my KPT2's, and $13.99 avg each for my AeroTanks... so I can buy two AeroTanks or three KPT2's for the price of ONE Nautilus, with change left-over! For me to invest in a Nautilus, they'd have to come WAY down in price, coils would have to be a buck each, and they would probably have to wash my car on occasion, too
  4. The $7.50 "clone" kits are what I started out with (two of them, but they were 950 mAh, not the 1100's)... and paid nearly $30 each from my local vape-shop, because I had no idea what I was buying :P The batteries are clones, but they work just fine. The Ce4's are disposable, and work pretty good for a couple of weeks, but I would swap out for better, replaceable bottom-coil tanks, and you'll get good service from them. But, I'd let them buy their own tanks, unless you can pick up a 10-pack, cheap, and share them around to everyone.
  5. $11 for six months of rebuilding supplies (not counting different gauge wire, and set-up materials of clippers, hemostats, pliers, torch, gauges, meter, magnifying light for my poor eyes, etc, etc. --- Not to mention the TIME involved to rebuild, and do it RIGHT), and 50 pre-made coils will last me nearly two years... So 11 x 4 = $44 for two years worth of (only) rebuilding supplies, compared to $36 for two years worth of tank coils? Yes, my statement stands... at least for me And, no, I don't own an RDA... and don't plan to in the near future either... I'm quite happy with my tanks.
  6. The MVP is adjustable Voltage or Power (not both at the same time. There are two buttons on the side, one marked "P", one marked "U". P is for Wattage (power), and U is actually for Voltage (guess they couldn't find the V key, lol). Personally, I prefer using the Power setting (Wattage) to adjust... just press and hold the P button until it shows P and a number. Release the button and hit it over and over again to progress through the Wattage settings... when you hit 11, it will drop back to 6.0. The sweet-spot for your selection will be based on the resistance of the coil you're using. Here's a little chart to help you figure out what to set it for best performance: I like using the Power setting so that it does not matter what coil I use, as the MOD will auto-adjust to the proper voltage. I tend to use 1.8 Ohm coils mostly, and my setting at 8.0 or 8.5W, so the Voltage auto-adjusts to 3.79 - 3.91V. Lower Voltage used per hit, also makes your battery last longer between charges. If you're using a 2.2 Ohm coil @ 8W, then you're requiring 4.2 V. You can also use the reverse to set the Voltage (in the same way) by pressing the U button. Having either set too high will roll through the juice, and it will also give your juice a burnt taste. If you press both buttons together, and hold, it will show you the coil's resistance (not exactly accurate, but close) as well as the Voltage of the battery... once you hit 3.5V or 3.6V, the fire-button will be yellow instead of green. I usually charge mine when it hits yellow.
  7. A lot of us here have (and use) the MVP... ask away! We'll have plenty of opinions and answers for you
  8. And I thought $22 for 30ml of Mad Alchemist's Dragons' Breath was high-priced!
  9. Yeah, I'd check that with a real meter... my MOD rarely reads the "correct" resistance... sometimes as high as 0.5 difference from a real meter reading.
  10. Yeah, I've seen them for $30 in a few places, which is probably about the best price you'll find anywhere, really. At that price, you're getting a bargain, they're getting a really good head-start-gift, and if they don't follow-through with them, you're not out a lot of money I really wish someone had bought me a really nice EVOD kit as my starter, lol...
  11. Welcome! Are you using a coil-meter to check your resistance, or are you relying on the meter on your MOD? If you're using the MOD's meter, that could be part of the issue... only trust the readings from a "real" meter, either one specifically made for reading coils, or a good digital multi-meter. Another issue could be the cotton... are you using organic cotton (no additives, chemicals, etc), and are you using the right amount? Too much will prevent proper wicking (too much compression), too little will not wick enough juice fast enough (and usually brings burnt tastes).
  12. Anyone starting out really needs two batteries and two tanks at a minimum. Starter kits like the EVOD are really good, and economical, considering you're getting two batteries, two tanks, a handful of coils, and a charger with each kit... which would probably run you an extra $10-15 if buying everything individually. The JoyeTech eGo kits (basic ones) are usually a bit cheaper, but you typically get disposable tanks with them... not a bad thing, but tanks with replaceable coils (like the EVODs) will give them more value, IMO. I'd get them started with a basic kit, and let them decide how to go from there... such as spinners/twists, MODs, tanks, etc. What works for you may not be their cup-o-tea Be careful of starter kits on eBay... they may be a steal @ $20, but they are usually clones/knock-offs. Kudos for wanting to help your family out... just don't go broke doing it, lol
  13. Fantastic! I know what you mean about the cost factor. When I was in Manilla a few years ago, I could not believe that my cigars were pennies compared to what I was paying in the states! Cheap = incentive to continue smoking... I'm glad to hear you made it through a major milestone by not giving in around your smoking buddies. Willpower, along with the fact that your vaping has already allowed your body to recognize that analogs smell bad and are bad for you! Keep up the good work... pretty soon your counter will show you smoke free for a month, then two... then... years!
  14. I smoked cigars (premiums and 'little cigars') for 30 years... and yes, the first couple of weeks when I started vaping made me feel "strange". One thing about your lungs, smoking analogs "numbs" them, so you don't feel all the crap in your lungs. When you start vaping, there is no anesthetic effect, so you feel the garbage in your lungs, as well as the body's natural healing which is taking place, first in your lungs, which will give you a "sick" feeling. It will pass in a few days to a couple weeks. Full healing and recovery will take longer, but you'll start feeling better, have more lung capacity, more energy, etc. after only a couple of weeks! As always... drink more water, then drink more water, and finally, drink more water! It will help flush your body, as well as offset the "drying" effect vaping has. Oh, and drink more water
  15. I've got two B&M's within 20 miles... the closest one has genuine articles in the case, but what they sell you are clones, especially in batteries and MT3/EVOD tanks. They also sell Ce4's @ $4.99 each (or $7.99 per pair), and Kanger coils @ $2.99 each... so that should tell you a lot about them! Their cheapest juices are $7.99 for 10ml bottles, and $15.99 for 30ml bottles. Their starter-kits are $40 for ONE 900mAh (clone) battery, ONE Ce4, charger (no wall adapter), case and a "free" 10ml bottle of juice. The saddest part is that there are ALWAYS people in there buying stuff... The other shop is a little drive, but they sell local juices, as well as major-brands, and a decent selection of designers... all at very reasonable prices, compared to ordering, shipping, and waiting for things to arrive. They are a tiny bit high on their equipment... some things are a buck or two more, some are 100% mark-up. But, I bought my MVP from them for $40, which is less than I could find it online, with the exception of eBay.
  16. My favorite flavors run ~$0.40 per ml... and I'm okay with that. Some of my cheaper flavors, like my sour-apple are dirt-cheap, at less than a quarter/ml... and I love getting stuff on sale! I agree, DIY can be cheaper in the long-run, but I don't have the time (or space, or money) to set up my "chemistry-set", LOL. Now, if/when the gov't gets control and starts popping on taxes and regulatory fees that make my juices $1.50/ml or higher... I may look into DIY, as long as the base-ingredients allow me to make my own for what I'm paying today, up to half the cost of retail, pre-blended juices.
  17. Check out Republic Wireless... No contracts, unlimited everything, and plans range from $5 to $45/month. Their phones (Moto-X and Moto-G) use wi-fi for everything (when wi-fi is available), and the Sprint network if no wi-fi is found. You pay up-front for the phone, or can finance it out over time (for a small fee, unlike ATT/Sprint/Verizon/T-mobile's "buy it twice" financing). I have Sprint as my primary carrier right now, but bought one of the Moto-X phones for $300 from Republic to try it out... so far, I've been impressed, and I only pay $25/month plus taxes for unlimited everything, with 3G access speeds when no wi-fi is around. They are also planning to add more phones to their line-up... but no news on when...
  18. I knew all those years invested in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Math would pay off someday!
  19. Twice the wick-area in a dual-coil, but the wicks draw the same, regardless of single, dual, triple... 1/4" long or 4-foot long... rate of absorption is the same, as each strand draws the same rate - inch/second - based on the viscosity of the juice. The thicker the juice, the higher viscosity, and therefore, slower rate of absorption per strand of wick. Another factor is compression... which dual-coils DO seem to have, more-so than single-coils... think of wringing-out a towel, and the tighter you wring (compress), the less moisture can exist in the strands of the towel fibers... same thing here... more wicking material crammed into the coil equals less juice actually able to reach the coil's center... unless you give it enough time... thus dry-hits. I've had 30/70 juices give semi-dry hits if I don't allow at least 5-seconds or so between hits, so I can imagine chain-vaping a higher VG juice would really give some dry hits. I don't have any real-issues with dry-hits when using my 50/50 or 60/40 juices, regardless of coil.
  20. None taken... I'm just as frustrated at our nannies in gov't and eradication of the free-market as you are!!
  21. It's all about "equality", with some industry being more equal than others... A week's worth of smokes - $40... a week's worth of Juice - $15... so the gov't, in their infinte wisdom, and pressure from tobacco lobby, work to tax and regulate vaping until juice costs 300% more, or $45 for a week's worth ... Then we have a "level playing field" for alternatives, which does not give advantage of one over the other... unless of course you count the extra $5 for vaping juice, which the gov't is okay with, because the juice is not as bad for you as smoking... so you should pay more for the healthier alternative (so they say)!!
  22. Wow, great deal on those... might buy a box of 50, even though I've still got over 80 un-opened! that would keep me in coils for another year and a half, and cheaper than rebuilding Good price on their dual-coils too... $58 is $2 cheaper than I paid for the last box of 50, and I thought those were a great price, then!
  23. Don't worry, you'll ease up on the purchasing after one of these 3 things happen: There's nothing left to buy that you don't already have two of You declare bankruptcy and are living in a cardboard box under an overpass (with all your gear) You realize that you're only using a couple of mods and tanks, and the rest are collecting dust, so you sell the excess to buy more juice! Welcome to the asylum!
  24. The government, bought and paid for by big-tobacco and big-pharma, has no interest in anyone quitting. If they did, ANY alternatives or cessation method of your choice would be cheap as dirt, and probably given away by every health-department, hospital, clinic, or doctor's office across the country, just like birth-control!
