  1. Interesting... I wouldn't have thought VG would affect blood-sugar levels, especially since the average person vapes only a few milliliters daily, and most juices are only 20-30% VG content (unless you are making an effort to go with higher VG levels). So, factoring a mass-produced 75/25 juice, vaped at 4ml per day... you're getting ONE ml of VG via vaping. One ml of VG is roughly 30 drops? That's not a lot of VG, IMO... I did a quick scan of a couple of websites, and according to ABC Herbal: Glycerine (or glycerol) is a natural component of all fats and oils. When fats are digested in the body, they are broken down into fatty acids and glycerine. Hence, glycerine is a non-toxic, natural food substance. It is also a good solvent of herbal constituents and a preservative. To top it off, glycerine is also sweet tasting but does not cause blood sugar problems. Journey Forever - Glycerin is used as a sweetener in food products because it adds a sugary flavor, but contains no sugar, according to Journey to Forever. If you cannot eat sugar, glycerin may be a good alternative for you, but it is not a calorie-free sweetener. Take that for what it's worth... I mean it did come from the Internet, and we all know everything on the Internet is 100% accurate and true :D However, the American Diabetes Association also has a positive take on VG... http://www.diabetes.org/food-and-fitness/food/what-can-i-eat/understanding-carbohydrates/sugar-alcohols.html
  2. Welcome to the forum! Taste is purely subjective... To me, I don't care for most flavors by themselves... I mix chocolate and PB for a Recee's Cup flavor... and mix a Cuban cigar flavor with Vanilla and Black Cherry (with a dash of Cinnamon) for a spicy, smooth cigar flavor... Based on what you have... I'd attempt 1:1 ratios at first (1 or 2ml at a time) with flavors that appeal to you... You just have to try different combos to see what you like. Personally I'd think Blueberry and Cheesecake would make an awesome flavor, but it may taste like dirt... only one way to find out though
  3. That's a question best left for a Pulmonologist, and I'm pretty sure none are on this forum. As for water vapor... you expel water vapor while breathing... it is a natural function of Oxygen metabolism in the lungs. Regardless of the humidity level of the air we breathe, the air we exhale is always near 100% humidity... because our lungs are naturally moist already. Studies have shown that we expel upwards of a pound of water (about a pint) through normal breathing during the night, which is why you get moisture vapor accumulating on the inside of a tent when camping, and why you always weigh less in the morning than you did when you went to bed! We also (all of us) breathe in water vapor normally, every breath, every day... it's called humidity! PG and VG (to a lesser extent) are also humecants... they bond with moisture and prevent it's absorption, which is why vaping drys you out... Vaping is not like breathing in steam from a sauna...
  4. What is the brand/flavor of the pre-filled cartos you've been using? If we had that info, perhaps one of us can recommend an e-juice brand/flavor that will come close, or even be superior? If you like carto-styles, moving to a refillable like BOGE (with a better/bigger battery), and finding the right flavor e-juice might be a good option for you? Making the switch to a vape-pen over the cig-a-likes (small battery with small cartos) may or may not be your cup-of-tea, but will definitely be cheaper and provide a more satisfying experience (more vapor, juice variety, tank options)... at least that is my opinion I tried the replaceable carto cig-a-likes, and they "worked", but moving up to an eGo-style vape-pen was the best thing I ever did... then again, I was having trouble replacing smoking with the cig-a-likes... they just didn't cut it for me
  5. Congrats on kicking the analogs! Welcome to VT!
  6. Welcome! Glad you found us... pull up a chair and stay a while!
  7. Well, Tuesday night, I exhausted the battery to the point it would no longer fire. I powered it off, charged it overnight, and am happy to say that I've not seen the problem again during the past 4 days. Gremlins? Charging issue? Circuitry issue? Battery-memory issue? Who knows... but it's working fine now, and has only required one recharge since Wednesday morning (now Saturday - sitting at 3.9V), so even the battery-life has improved after a full discharge/recharge cycle Now, I did use the MVP to charge my near-death phone battery last weekend, so perhaps that could have had something to do with it's strange behavior on Tuesday? Again, who knows... but it's working fine now!
  8. Jeff, I stand corrected... I wasn't looking at my Amp-chart when I posted the info Tam... hope this helps to explain it quick-and-dirty: Lower resistance coils produce higher Wattage. Higher Wattage draws more Amps from the battery (to produce those Wattages). Therefore, using a 1.5 or 1.8 Ohm coil will produce much better vapor, but will run down the battery slightly faster than a 2.0 or 2.2 Ohm coil. (I had it backwards).
  9. I hate to say it as well, but your employer sets the standards for your job, your building, your workstation guidelines... If they say, "no more coffee at your desk", then that's their prerogative, and now a term of your employment... just the same if they say "no more blue ink-pens". Arguing the benefits of health, safety, cleanliness, smell, etc. etc. etc... will only put you on the "list"... IMO. As for what has been formally written... both sides of the debate are working hard to discredit the other, and the real fact is that the jury is still out on the matter, regarding health-safety of the vaper, and those around them. We just don't know... And, don't look for any definitive evidence to support either side. Any independent studies performed that prove health-benefits or safety of others will be shot-down by the government (backed by big-tobacco/big-pharma), or the media. Any government sponsored studies will be bought-and-paid-for before the first test is performed, and the results will be "inconclusive" (so they can apply for more grant money), or firmly showing horrible dangers in vaping (because contrary evidence would destroy the tobacco industry).
  10. ^^ This ^^ Lower resistance coils extend battery life, as compared to higher resistance coils... My 650mAh batteries barely lasted all day, but I had one to charge while exhausting another. My 950mAh batteries held out all day, and my 1100 and 1300mAh batteries can easily go a day and a half, sometimes two days if I'm using a 1.5 Ohm coil
  11. Your EVOD tanks are single-coil, and they will use juice slower than a dual-coil... but don't fret about your juice usage... most of us here average from 20ml up to 40ml (or more for drippers) each week! 3ml per day is on the low-end of vaping use, especially for someone new to vaping... When I first started, I was in the 30+ per week, easily... then settled down into a groove and run 20-25ml per week. Given the costs of juice, that's still cheaper than a carton of analogs a week (actually about what you'd pay for two packs)!
  12. Fantastic! My brother-in-law gave cigalikes a try, but couldn't make the switch... and until I gave him a starter kit and some juices to try, he probably would never have EVER given vaping a try (after his poor cigalike experience). Sometimes freebies are the best way to convert someone!
  13. Tam, you're Davide mini will be jealous
  14. Yes, the 16d has a replaceable BDC (bottom dual-coil). You can buy more and just swap them as the old one goes bad. For a glass tank, I highly recommend the Kanger ProTank2 (single coil) or AeroTank (dual-coil) They are larger capacity than your current Innokin, but still fit the Spinner via 510 threads. If you want smaller, slimmer tanks, I suggest the ProTank 2-mini (single coil), or a dual-coil unit like the ProTank3-mini or EVOD2-Glass. Aspire Nautilus (and the new mini) is also a highly recommended Pyrex tank, and the Anyvape Daivde and mini versions are also really good (although I don't own one). There are others, but those are my recommendations. As for battery, you can't beat a good Spinner or Spinner2, as well as the Kanger or JoyeTech VV versions, too. If you want something a bit bigger, the Innokin MVP 2.0 (box-style VV/VW MOD) is rock-solid and will last a couple or three days before needing a recharge. Welcome to GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome)
  15. Bebop hit it... I don't use Aspire tanks/coils, but those I know, who do, get anywhere from a week to three weeks out of a single coil, and daily vaping on that single tank/coil combo. So, figure a 5-pack of coils to last you anywhere from 5-15 weeks. Even at the median of 10 weeks per box, that's $1.60/week... or about the cost of a large coffee from McDonald's! I started vaping on April Fools Day this year, and yes, you can invest some serious $ on equipment if you allow yourself I know for a fact that I over-spent on tanks, batteries, VV/VW MOD, juice, juice, more juice, and stockpiling coils in the first two months! But, once you have a few batteries and tanks, you're only real expense to maintain vaping, is coils and juice. Currently, my weekly expense for juice is about what I spent for a day of analogs! Even with my initial over-spending on equipment, my total vaping expense (today) is well under half what I would have spent on smoking for the same period, and I feel 50x better than I did in March So, it was worth every penny spent, and double-worth every penny saved!
  16. Welcome, and congrats on your purchase! The Spinner2 is a really good VV battery, although you might want to check out the thread here regarding charging issues with them... might save you some frustrations! The iClear 16's are good tanks, and will get you started in the vaping world quite nicely! The real key to vaping is finding the correct juice to go along with reliable equipment. Being a 3-PAD smoker, you'll probably want to start with high mg nicotine content juices... 24mg or possibly even higher to start out, or you'll not get nicotine levels high enough to stave off cravings. Start slow, ask questions, and enjoy your new adventure!
  17. Welcome! Congrats on kicking analogs!
  18. You have Pica... It is a disorder where you crave non-food items. The disorder typically affects children more than adults, but it is believed that upwards of 20% of the adult population chew or consume non-food items, in an attempt to gain specific, vitamins or minerals which are missing from their daily diet. Before you trade one addiction for another, or just add to your repertoire... I would seek the advice of a doctor... have some blood tests run, and try to determine if your addiction is related to a vitamin or mineral deficiency, or purely psychological. I just don't think vaping will stop you from eating paper... because it will not replace the "thing" you're getting from paper.
  19. Welcome to VT! The Kanger starters are great kits, and will serve you well for a very long time. Everyone is suggesting you try different juices, and I will agree... that's part of the fun of vaping, lol. I'll also toss in that your next few purchases should include another tank or two (or as some of us have done... 10 or 20, lol)... As you experiment with more flavors, it's a whole lot easier to have different flavors in different tanks, ready to vape, rather than have to empty one out and change or clean coils before you can start a different flavor!
  20. Congrats and Welcome! Vaping works, and as Fishguy said, everyone has their own story to tell and method/equipment-choice which works for them. Some can make the switch on day one, some can't, and it's okay! Sometimes (like TX's wife) you just hit the right flavor and never look back. As Tam suggested, use the search tool and feel free to ask questions... we all have opinions!! Oh, BTW, the VT store has fantastic prices and excellent equipment and juices... check that out, too!
  21. I have to say I love my KPT2's with AeroBases... I have "more than I need" currently in service. I also have several AeroTanks, half a dozen KPT3 minis, EVODs, and dozens of cartomizers and atomizers... but the KPT2's receive the most "love"
  22. I agree... on a static-3.7V battery (ego or MOD), I prefer 1.5 or 1.8 coils in my Kanger tanks... I get a good vape, good flavor, and extended battery life (compared to higher resistance coils). But on a VW battery, setting a specific Wattage, will not matter what coil resistance you select, as long as it is not too low or too high for the circuitry to adjust Voltage to maintain the Wattage selected (based on the chart above). As you can see, a 1.2 Ohm coil on an MVP, cannot operate below 9.5W or above 3.63V (at 11W), as any higher or lower setting will be outside the operational parameters of the battery's circuitry / protection limits. Using a 1.2 Ohm coil and setting the Wattage at 8.0W, and the battery will auto-default to the closest operational limit, which is 9.08W @ 3.3V (minimum operational Voltage setting) or 9.5W @ 3.38V (minimum operational Wattage setting), based on the coil resistance.
