I called the local shop this morning and asked how many they had in stock, and if they would hold one for me... They sold one on Saturday, and have one left... and won't hold it for me, but they did say they had more ordered and should be the same price. Soooo, do I wait or order from VapeRoyalty? Actually, I'm thinking I'll order a Windrose from VapeRoyalty, and hold out on the Copper Penny until the weekend (if they still have it by then, or wait for more stock). Now, I use NiteCore and Panasonic 18650's in my flashlights (protected, button-tops), and obviously will not be using these in my MOD... so what would be the best battery for my upcoming MODs? I know I'll need flat-tops, and I'll be using these primarily with my KPT2's and AeroTanks (no sub-ohming). I want decent life (mAh), but don't need high-drain/high-Amps... but would the Sony VTC5 or an EFest IMR (in the 2600mAh size range) still be acceptable for that purpose? Also, since these are unprotected, should I add in a "kick-chip" fuse as an added safety measure?

Yeah, cutting it with Glycerin will dilute the flavor... like pouring water into your cola to make it last longer...

Welcome! If you're looking for a rock-soild battery that isn't "complicated", I'd recommend the Innokin MVP 2.0 (its a box-style, VV/VW), and I can't praise mine enough. If you want something smaller, but still with decent battery life, a Spinner, Spinner2, Innokin VV V3, etc will provide you all day (or two) vaping pleasure without having to recharge. I'm no cloud-chaser... I stick with tanks, and love my Kanger ProTank 2's, AeroTanks, and ProTank3-minis (smaller for my eGo batteries). Use a 1.5 or 1.8 Ohm coil and you get a really good vape. Many here also praise the Aspire Nautilus for better flavor and vapor, but I've tried them and think the AeroTank is just as good (at a cheaper price). More vapor is achieved by using a higher VG content juice. Most commercial juices are 80/20 or 70/30 (VG is the last number), so vapor is okay, but flavor and throat-hit are more pronounced. 50/50 juices are truly a good "balance", and I get just as much vapor from those as I do my 30/70 juices (and more flavor).

I started with Ce4's, which are top-loading... When I got my first bottom coil tank, I took it apart, cleaned it, etc.... then fully assembled it and paused for a moment... I got a good chuckle at myself for holding the drip-tip in my hand, thinking... nope, this ain't gonna work When you're use to one type, another style will throw you off for a moment. I hate to admit this, but I was helping a friend with their starter a few weeks ago and caught myself trying to remove the bottom of their Ce4 before I realized... oh, yeah... top-loader! Blonde-moments DO happen

Yeah, those o-rings are kinda necessary And, Chinese Quality Control pretty much ensures "something" is in the package... no guarantee if it's the right part, or fully/properly assembled! I've even gotten to the point of checking coil resistances with my meter before I use them the first time... it eliminates installing a dud (only found one so far, though) or finding out the coil marked as 1.8, actually is a 2.2 or a 1.4

I picked up 180ml of juice last night... while I was at the local B&M... and just checked the date on the sides: Four bottles say "Best if used by May 2016"... so roughly two-years from date of manufacture on those. The other two bottles say "Liquid expires one year from date of purchase"... so they obviously have over a year of shelf-life, because who knows how long they sit on the shelf before they're sold? Although they do a booming business in juices there because of their great prices and selection, so I doubt anything would sit more than 4-6 months, even if it's a crappy flavor

I use a BOGE carto when I'm working in the yard, cutting grass, or under the hood of my cars... less bulky, looks good on a smaller battery (650mAh or smaller), it doesn't hold a lot of juice, but I use them mostly because there is no danger of breakage if I drop it or bang it around! Brian pointed out their usefulness to me a couple months ago, and I picked up 30 of them (love lots of spares/backups) for about $20, shipped. Tam's right though... the flavor in a carto is muted, compared to an atomizer... but they do have their purpose...

Amen! You know all that $$ you're saving by not smoking... Weeeeellllllll... it's gotta go somewhere

MVP comes with a charger which connects to USB port, so if you want to charge from the wall outlet, you will need to buy a AC-to-DC 5V USB converter... you can usually pick them up anywhere for a couple bucks... even next to the candy-bars at Walmart... Spinners and other eGo-style require a special charge adapter which screws onto the end of the battery and has usb on the other end. Sometimes they'll come with them (like when you buy kits), but it never hurts to have a couple of spares, especially if you own more than two or three of this type of battery. VT store can set you up... and at good prices for quality... https://www.vaportalkstore.com/ecig-Chargers-s/1828.htm

You can use a MOD like the Nemesis with your AeroTank (or any 510 threaded tank)... no need to take the step to a rebuildable atomizer until you're ready. But, if you do someday decide to take that next step, you'll have a MOD capable of handling the power required for sub-ohming (as long as your battery can handle it)... Now, when you get a MOD, you also have to consider the cost of at least two, quality batteries (proper size/type) and a quality charger. Depending on where you're buying these things... you could easily invest anywhere from $60 to $100... and $100 could buy three Vision Spinner 2's or a couple Innokin MVP 2.0's Not trying to discourage you in the least, just trying to give you some perspective on cost. Personally, I'm getting ready to buy a Copper Penny mod, myself, and I'll be using my KPT2's and AeroTanks with it .... I've no desire to dive into rebuildables (yet).

Have I've been missing something?

I had a coil go south in a KPT2 tonight, and it flooded the base, leaking out of the air-holes... ugg, what a mess! Normally, I'll check under the coil when I'm filling a tank, and a little swab with TP or a paper towel corner makes quick work of the occasional drip. But, tonight's mess required a bit more "thorough" cleaning Now, even with that leakage disaster tonight... nothing made it onto the body of my MVP, and NONE of the juice entered the battery by oozing past the center pin! This is the number one reason I use AeroBases on all my KPT2's. Killing one battery was enough to convince me of their value -
The dual-coil EVODs are available as plastic or glass. The EVOD2 is plastic, the EVOD2-glass is Pyrex. If it doesn't say "glass" in the description (or on the box when you buy it), it's the plastic version.
-
The EVOD is a plastic tank... it could be the tank has cracked from a harsh juice (Cinnamon, mints, citrus, menthol, etc.) and the leakage is simply because the tank can no longer hold a vacuum to maintain pressure equilibrium? EVODs are a one-piece design, so any fracture will render them unusable. Luckily, they are also cheap to replace.... If you're going to vape a juice that might damage a plastic tank, it's best to invest in Pyrex and stainless-steel tanks. If you like the EVOD size/shape, you'll also like these from Kanger: KPT2-mini, KPT3-mini, AeroTank-mini, or EVOD2-glass. Of those I listed, only the KPT2-mini will use the same single-coils as your EVOD, though. Tam and Comp are spot on as well... I've had coils work loose and leak, and had brand new coils leak within an hour or two of installing them. Genuine coils, knock-offs, rebuilds... any and all can and will leak... given enough time
-
Good idea... I'll give them a call on Monday and see how many they have, and ask if they'll put one aside for me. If they can't hold one, I'll go ahead and order one from VapeRoyalty (and maybe a WindRose, too).
-
Now, I wish I had bought it today... I won't get a chance to get back to that shop until next weekend unless my schedule changes. But if they sell out of them, at least I know VapeRoyalty has the same price!
-
Now, how did I know you were going to say that?
-
Yeah, that Copper Penny has my eye... and @ $35 it's looking more and more enticing... The Turtle Ship looks awesome too, and it's the cheaper of their selection @ $27, but is stainless (I think). Yeah, you're helping a lot... helping me decide to part with some cash
-
Okay, it's my usual Saturday of running errands and I keep finding myself at the local B&M's, drooling over the MODs in their cases... I have no desire to mess with a rebuildable (yet), but those beautiful Copper mods (and a couple of the stainless ones too) just keep calling to me So, I've decided to purchase one... I know everyone says the Magneto is a good starter, but I'm just not a fan of the asymmetric telescope. I've really got my eyes on these: HCigar Copper Penny HCigar Turtle Ship V2 (yeah, wasn't copper, but still beautiful) HCigar Rose Copper Stingray (but not caring for the broken lines of stacked tubes) Infinite XXIX (smooth copper) I'm leaning hard towards the Copper Penny or the Turtle Ship V2, but would welcome suggestions and insight... Oh, and the B&M's don't seem to be marking up their MODs much at all (which is why I would by locally)... All their HCigar MODs are in the $27-35 range... IIRC, the Infinite was the only expensive one @ $50, but their batteries and chargers are insanely priced!

Now THAT's a bottle of nicotine!!

A 1.5 Ohm coil on my 1100mAh, non-VV $12 eGo-T's, cranks 9W, which is where I prefer to leave my MVP for most of my juices, anyway (8.5-9W)... thus the reason I've not dropped the extra cash for a new Spinner :P I just have to remember to only use my 1.5 Ohm coils in the minis BTW, 4.0V @ 1.8 Ohms is 8.9W, it seems Bcarter and I seem to have the same sweet-spot

Resistance and Nic and vapor production
Earthling789 replied to bcartervol98's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Proven by the University of Kentucky study on the temperature of nicotine patches... higher heat DOES increase the rate of nicotine absorption. A patch applied to the skin at 102-104-deg showed upwards of 30% faster rates of absorption over a patch at room temp. Now, does that still apply when we're talking about temperatures of vapor? I don't know, and I'm sure there's a point where a plateau is reached, or temp negatively affects absorption (breaks down nicotine)... I've just not seen any studies on "vapor temp and nicotine absorption". The rest is also subjective... but logical... more vapor "should" increase the volume of nicotine, as well as holding the hit longer to allow for maximum absorption... but those are factors I've not read any studies on, either... so I'll stick with what sounds logical for now So, yes, using a higher resistance coil will produce a cooler vape, and less vapor, so logically (yeah, we're making assumptions here), nicotine absorption should be lower? -
Resistance and Nic and vapor production

Theoretically, the volume vaporized is the same, regardless of PG/VG... BUT, I've noticed that my higher VG juices do seem to deliver (or deposit) more nicotine into my system... So, I use 18mg for my 80/20 - 50/50 juices, 12mg in my 30/70 juices, and seem to maintain a good balance that way... Could it all be in our heads? Possibly, but it seems to work for me Like you, I'm using standard tanks (no dripping), but I've yet to dive into 100% VG because I can taste the glycerine over any "flavors", even at 30/70 levels... and I prefer to taste the flavor, not the glycerine... which is probably why I still regularly vape a couple 80/20 and 70/30 juices -
It must be something in the water or air... today has been a real PITA for me too... I feel like a cracked tank, lol

Something smaller and more efficient day to day?
Earthling789 replied to Thevwvaper21's topic in General Vaping Discussion
The standard eGo/EVOD 650mAh battery is common and small, and accept eGo and 510 thread tanks. There are smaller batteries, which are designed for cartos, IIRC, they are in the 320mAh size, but still have 510 threads. Check this out from the VT store: https://www.vaportalkstore.com/The-Mini-Starter-Kit-p/510t%20starter%20kit.htm Now, I guess the next question is... how small are you wanting? Cartos are going to be smaller, but they're not a tank. Most tanks are going to be in the 1.5-1.8ml range, and popping those on a small EVOD battery is "small", but still not quite cig-a-like sized....
