  1. My order for Four VTC5's was back-ordered for 12-weeks, so I cancelled that order this morning, and ordered Four VTC4's from Comp!
  2. Math is math... but for some people math is pizza You are correct. Amp draw (based on Voltage and Resistance) does not change just because the battery is capable a higher discharge rate. It's called Ohm's LAW for a reason Many people have a misconception that Amps are PUSHED... this is very wrong, but it sells batteries! Amps are DRAWN, based on the load! Which is why you can SAFELY jump-start a lawn-mower or motorcycle with a car, even if it is running (alternator generating 40-100A). The mower or bike will only draw the Amps it needs to start... no more, no less! I've tried to explain Ohm's Law to several people before, but there are some that have read somewhere on the Internet, or been told by their cousin's sister-in-law's half-brother that "60-amps hits harder", so it is now "Gospel Truth". These are usually the same people that will tell you that their Nickel plated .357 will "shoot clean-through an engine block" simply based on the premise that it's shiny... or that paying an extra $250 for a yellow-top, ultra-mega, 2000-cca battery for their 4-cyl pick-up was the best purchase EVER, because it makes it run "more better".... The general rule we were taught in school (back before fire was invented), is to use a battery capable of at least double your expected load (for safety margin and lower heat) as a minimum. Is there anything wrong with using a 60A battery when you'll never peak above 8.4A (based on 0.5 Ohm coil @ 4.2V peak)? Nope! Nothing wrong with it at all... But, it doesn't make it any better than a 30A battery.
  3. And you personally load-tested and charged all 300, right?
  4. Grrrr... Sony batteries on back-order No estimated date for shipping....
  5. I change coils when they start to taste funky or become hard to draw (sign the wick is gunked-up). I've not had a coil pop or fry, but did have one short-out on the first firing... no biggie though Cleaning the contacts on the battery when you swap tanks is always a good thing, just to keep juice drops at a minimum. Juice leaking into the battery via the contact pin is a sure way to have a battery fail. Cleaning the bottom of the tank/coil area is a good habit too. Once you fill the tank, I like to give a little puff or two down the drip-tip of my EVODs or KPT3-minis to dislodge anything in the tube (shoots out the bottom onto a napkin). My larger tanks have AeroBases, so no danger of drips from the coil finding their way to the battery. I never bother wiping down the coil-head or stem when filling the tank.
  6. Nah, we derail threads regularly What I was referring to is you have one tank and you keep one flavor in it... and I see/hear of lots of people vaping that tank for 20-min and topping it off, repeat... so the juice that was there yesterday or the day before is still mostly there, and has seen lots of heating so it gets funky. I vape until the liquid is at the bottom of the glass (so there's 1/2 ml or less to "freshen-up" or dump out) before refilling. It stopped the problem of juice going bad from constant reheating.
  7. I have two favorite flavors, and several others that get an occasional hit as a treat to my tastebuds It's not uncommon to grow tired of a flavor as you get your sense of taste back from smoking... sometimes you just need a new flavor, and sometimes it is vapor's tongue where you need to switch up flavors and drink LOTS more water!! Also, be aware of a failing coil or dirty juice. Heat from the coil(s) can cause a "good" juice to go dark and taste funny, especially if you have a habit of topping off a tank before it's half-used, and a failing coil not only will be hard to draw, but can also give juices a "different" taste.
  8. Glad to hear it was a good experience! Feel better soon... and take some meds BEFORE the anesthetic wears off... you'll be thankful for that advice!
  9. You should NOT be stacking batteries... these are not AA Flashlights! Slight variances in battery chemistry or discharge rates can cause catastrophic or deadly results! Seriously, I mean no disrespect here, and I appreciate your enthusiasm to jump into Mech Mods, RDA/RBA, building coils, etc., but if you don't get a good grasp of the basics (and heed some of the advice you've been given already), I fear you're going to hurt yourself... and none of us want to see that happen!
  10. I've sampled several of the SB juices, and found all but Derailed to be nasty, leaving a chalky, warm-buttermilk aftertaste, which I find gross. Derailed was good, but a bit too much banana for my tastes, so I didn't feel it was worth spending $22 on something to sit on my shelf. Tastes are subjective!
  11. Welcome! EVODs are a great starter set-up. Next steps are always something variable-voltage and/or variable wattage like a Spinner, Twist, MVP 2.0, VV-V3, etc. The VTR requires replaceable/rechargeable batteries, and is quite expensive once you factor the price of the device, batteries, and charger (especially for a noobie starting out). Back-ups! Back-ups! Back-ups! YES, you will need them eventually Another thing you should always have in reserve are at least a couple of tanks, and a box of coils at a minimum. Batteries fail or run out of juice when you least expect them, but tanks can leak, crack (if plastic), or break (if dropped), and coils will always fail when you away from home, or down to your last coil... Murphy's Law does exist
  12. Ordered them from Vape Playground. I've never ordered from them before, but a couple others said they were good to deal with and fast shipping... so... we'll see how it goes. I'd been dying to get a Copper Penny... and the design on the Windrose was just too stunning to pass up (as well as magnetic switch and separate tubes). If I like the Brass one, I may order a stainless too...
  13. it is... The local shop had the Copper Penny for $35, and Vape Playground was $33. The Windrose I ordered along with it was $10 cheaper than anyone else had them listed... and shipping was $3 for USPS!
  14. Feel better Tam! We'll hold the fort for you, although the liquor cabinet may be a little lighter
  15. Hehe... Thanks! I've been wavering on pulling the trigger, and today, I found a site with cheaper prices on the MODS, and then I realized I had $90 in a kick-back check I hadn't cashed yet... so everything I just ordered only set me back about $10 Now to wait by the mailbox...
  16. Just ordered the following: HCigar Windrose Brass MOD w/ 3-tubes HCigar Copper Penny MOD Four Sony VTC5 18650 batteries w/ storage case NiteCore i4 Charger (already have one for my flashlight batteries, but good to have a backup!)
  17. Fantastic! Thanks! My local shop couldn't hold a Copper Penny MOD for me, and no clue when they were getting more. Vapor Playground has them cheaper than anyone else, and their shipping is also saving me $8-10 over other sites.
  18. I stumbled across this site today and was impressed with their prices on hardware, but more impressed with their shipping rates... ($3/$6 flat-rate) Has anyone ever ordered from them?
  19. ^^ This ^^ The toolbox app and dozens of places on the web outline exactly how many turns of X-guage Kenthal equals Y-Ohms... Trial and error, taking notes, and using your dedicated coil-meter will tell you if you need 5 turns, or 15...
  20. Li-po batteries can burst very high amps, but they are more expensive to manufacture, have "memory-effect", must be "primed" on initial charge to operate efficiently. Li-on batteries are cheaper and have higher energy density (last longer). I'm sure there are better answers, and there's probably a safety issue from using a MOD capable of dozens of Amps in a burst, too
  21. Okay, it's on my wish-list, lol... So, what's next? A V-8 model with hyper-charger and nitrous?
  22. I feel your pain, but even at retail from the local shop, a charger-should be equal to or less-than a pack of smokes!
  23. I gave a way some of my smaller eGo-T's as a starter kit, as well as a few tanks I was not using... BUT, as Tam said... have backups of your backups of your backups! You never know when a battery will fail (or not be charged fully), coil will die, tank will get dropped, etc. etc. My family says I have too much stuff, but Four eGo's, an MVP, (two MODs on order), at least a year's worth of coils on stand-by, and more than two dozen tanks (which are used regularly)... plus tanks still in packages, just in case... so I don't see it as too much stuff, I see it as a well-stocked emergency plan
  24. There are several good cleaners on the market for copper... One is Penny-Bright? IIRC, Wright's makes a really good Copper polish as well. Neither will remove deep scratches, but they'll make them less noticeable and restore the "new" shine.
