Assault On The Us Constitution
miatafrank replied to ddavelarsen's topic in The Vape Lounge - Off Topic Chat
The real threat is from within!!!!! Did you hear the part of the report that said that other countries that have adopted this law also enjoy a rise in crime? That's the real threat! The only thing laws can stop is legally obtained guns, which leaves only the criminals holding. I don't own a gun now, so you would think that this shouldn't matter to me. A criminal doesn't know that I don't have a gun, and that could be just a powerful, but have a law like this go into effect and every criminal will know for certain that you and your father and your mother and your sister and your brother doesn't have a gun. The police cannot protect you, and the criminals will have open season on law abiding citizens since they know no one is in a position to protect themselves. Our country will fall apart from within, and the ragheads can sit and watch without lifting a finger to bomb us or fly planes into our buildings. -
The adapter McQuinn is talking about is about the same size as the atomizer, but is an extender adapter with male threads on one end and female threads on the other. It just extends the length of the 901 past the button. The manual 901 is a relatively new thing, the switch/button position was apparently an afterthought, and thus the need for the extender/adapter. Sounds like the vender just didn't give it to you with the kit.

Do you think I should re-post this info as it's own thread so it can easily found, instead of burried here? If so, should it be posted in the general section, or the modding section?

It's time for electronics 101, and how it applies to PVs. Current flow (measured in amps) is the movement of electrons through a conductor. These electrons are sent out by the power source (volts) to act as the workers, and resistance (measured in ohms) is in the path of current flow and will slow the electrons (workers) down. Power (measured in watts) is the measurement of work being performed in the circuit, and will always manifest itself in the form of heat (doesn't that sound like heating up an atomizer to you?). Of course too much heat (power/watts) will pop the atty. Now for the math, and I promise it's not that complicated: A physicist by the name of George Simon Ohmdiscovered that there is a tight relationship between voltage, current, and resistance. This relationship can be described and predicted by mathematics, which has become known as "Ohm's Law". The basic statement of relationship is that voltage and current are directly proportional (when we increase voltage, current will increase as well), and that current and resistance are inversely proportional (when we increase resistance, current will decrease). Voltage = current multiplied by resistance Current = voltage divided by resistance Resistance = voltage divided by current Power = voltage multiplied by current Now let's apply Ohm's Law to a PV: A 3.7v device with a standard atty; Voltage 3.7v divided by an atty that is 3ohms = 1.23amps The heat produced by this is determined by the power in watts which is 3.7v multiplied by 1.23amps = 4.563watts We know this works, and we can use these numbers to compare the performance of the other combinations. A 3.7v device with a LR atty; 3.7v / 1.5ohms = 2.46amps 3.7v * 2.46amps = 9.126watts (remember, this is the heat) A 5v device with a standard atty; 5v / 3ohms = 1.66amps 5v * 1.66amps = 8.33watts (remember, this is the heat) A 5v device with a LR atty; 5v / 1.5ohms = 3.33amps 5v * 3.33amps = 16.66watts (remember, this is the heat.....POP) A 6v device with a standard atty; 6v / 3ohms = 2amps 6v * 2amps = 12watts (remember, this is the heat...on the bourder of POP) A 6v device with a HV atty; 6v / 4.3ohms = 1.395amps 6v * 1.395amps = 8.372watts (remember, this is the heat....is this really any better than a standard atty at 5v?) My ohm values for the attys are approximate, but you get the picture. This really answers all the questions "will this work with this?", "will that work with that?". I also think that anyone dabbling in making their own mods should understand these basics when choosing components that will work well together, and avoid injury.

California Congressman Mcclintock

"For every pleasure in life there is a corresponding risk. With enough taxes and laws and restrictions and regulations and penalties and lectures, government can produce a virtually risk free society……….But it will also be the most colorless, pleasureless, tedious, and miserable societies conceived by the mind of man." Are we there yet? Honestly, I love this guy. It brings a tear to the eye to see a Politician who actually does work for the people. -
A 5v device divided by a 1.5ohm atty is 3.33amps of current, and 3.33amps of current multiplied by the 5v device is 16.65watts of power, that's real hot. I can't imagine your juice having really good flavor at those levels, so why bother trying it.

Vaping And The Visually Impaired
miatafrank replied to Phaseman66's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I think that the wetbox idea is right on the money. The wet box uses cartos, and feeds juice from the bottom. A blind person should be able to feel for the button, and know where it is instinctively in no time. As snubber said, battery charging might be a challenge, so I would have several batteries that she can work with. I'm thinking maybe 6 batteries so she can have a storage box where she stores fully charged batteries. One battery in use, when it falls off vapor production put it on a separate box for staging "to be charged". place a battery in the charger over night and it will be charged by morning, out of the charger and into the fully charged box. Take a battery from the staging box and put it in the charger, charge all day, should be charged by night. Move charged battery to the fully charged storage box, move a drained battery from the staging box into the charger for the overnight charge. Get the picture? With enough batteries, she should be able to handle this by feel, and the fully charged box should have more batteries in it than the staging box. Filling juice bottles might be the next challenge, is something that she may need help with. I wouldn't want her spilling any on herself. Blind people can learn all kinds of ways to be self sufficient, and getting to know her a little, and how she can use other senses to compensate will help fine tune the plan to her abilities. Concentrate on what she CAN do to compensate for what she can't (see). -
I'm also trying to do the same thing at my company. I've been sending information to our HR department, and also our health/safety/and facilities department. Thanks Christopher, great article.

I did this last night, even before I read this post. I got the atty warmed up real good to melt the crud, then turn it upside down over night, and it's absolutely unbelievable how much crud comes out. I'd say this is a very effective method.

What Suppliers Have To Put Up With From Some Folks !
miatafrank replied to parked's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I personally am impressed with the quality and innovation of vaprlife products. Any product, even of the highest quality AND PRICE can fail. In today's throw away society, most products that fall into the under $100 category are often considered disposable by American consumers. I fully understand John Doe's frustration and his comments about expecting the product to last at least a year, but the response of the average consumer is to chuck the unit and say "I guess I will never buy manufacturer's products again", and go about their merry way. This is what YEARS of dealing with bad customer service has done to the American consumer, we expect mediocrity. This is also why Vaprlife is stepping things up a notch. Most companies that manufacture an affordable consumer product (yes $80 is very affordable) would just say "sorry, it's out of warranty, buy a new one". How many companies will repair such a low cost device to prevent you from having to pay full price again. This is not only awesome customer service, it's fair to all parties. My Denon surround sound receiver that I paid over $500 for is warranted for 1 year, and after the 1 year you pay for repair or buy a new one. If something that costs over $500 carries a 1 year warranty, it is more than fair for something that costs $80 to carry a 90 day warranty, and Jeso is more than fair to offer repair service for a mere $35. Show me any new PV that would be less than the $35 it will take to get you your VP/PT back in like new condition. Any vaper that threatens to go to the authorities about a product that is under scrutiny of the authorities, is not only threatening the entire community, but also threatening himself. What an idiot, he's a vaper and what he does threatens to end vaping......Posser -
A little big, but not too bad, not much bigger than a pack of 100mm analog cigarettes. I'm thinking of ysing the extra room for an easy access compartment for spare attys and such, I'm just trying to work out the easy access part. If done right, you shouldn't have to ever use a screwdriver to open the box.

More of a 14500 thing, but check out the VM series boxes, in particular VM-24-AA.

I joined this group, and think we all should. At this time they are asking people to take two surveys, one is a CASAA survey and the other is a university survey. These surveys will add important information from people who have used electronic cigarettes and other methods of quitting. This would give us a chance to take part in a study of the effectiveness of e-cigs, possible side effects, and comparisons to other smoking cessation products. http://www.casaa.org/news/article.asp?articleID=92&l=a&p=

Try this site http://www.polycase.com/ Lots of boxes here

I'd put some tape over the ends of the batteries for the spade if I were you. Altoid tins are conductive after all.

I'll jump in on this one as well------TODD ROCKS!!!!!!! His customer service skills are second to none. Aside from extras and suprises, he will spend the time with you to answer all your questions and help you make choices that you will be happy with. It's never just supplier/customer with Todd, and you will quickly consider him a friend. Thanks Todd, for all you've helped me with.

Hi Vic, I started out using a cartridge exclusively, as anyone would, but quickly advanced to direct dripping. I originally thought dripping would be a hassle, especially while out for the day. Removing the tip, dripping, and replacing the tip several times a day didn't seem convenient. I was filling several carts in the morning to bring with me for the day, only to find that some of them would leak in my pocket. Not a lot mind you, but any amount of juice in your pocket or on your hands is not desirable. I tried a direct drip, and found that it tasted better and produced more vapor. I then found out that there are special drip tips available to allow you to drip without removing the tip. You can also make your own drip tip out of pen parts, and Dr.Vapor has a video (sorry I don't have a link to it) that shows you step by step how to make a drip tip. This is a good way to try it before you run right out and buy the drip tips that are mass produced and sold on the internet. The drip tips make it very convenient, and I no longer view dripping on the go as a hassle. I hope this info helps, and keep on vaping!!!

I really looked at that one also, but I thought that the kit at onestop would be better because the VG or PG comes in a 120ml jug, and the kit at the flavor shack comes with a 20ml bottle of base. Both kits come with a 30ml botle of nic juice, although the flavor shack kit has higher mg levels. The tackle box is a nice touch, and it has a few more tools and accesories, but in the end I think you can make more juice out of the onestop kit. Of course I may be wrong because I have not done any mixing yet, but I was looking more at the volumes of liquids and less at the box. It's jus difficult for a newbie to look at these and know what is the better deal.

I thought about this option as well, and was wondering, wouldn't a kit like this one be a good way to start? http://www.onestopdiyshop.com/products/The-DIY-Flavor-Artisan%27s-Apprentice-Kit.html

Yes, thanks for posting the site, very informative. Here is another site I found a link to http://casaa.org/ Hey look, it's an organization dedicated to fighting the cause.

Electronic Cigarette Sales Banned In New York
miatafrank replied to Christopher's topic in General Vape News
My apologies for making you feel flamed, it was surely not my intention. I was just trying to point out to anyone reading through the posts that we are all in this together. I live in Washington state, and I'm going to send an email to NY voicing my outrage. -

We can't just say "sorry you guys have to put up with this crap" just because you don't live in NY. Some really good suppiers are in NY, and supplying us in other states. What effects them effects all of us. -

Why do they insist on saying that there is anti-freeze in it when anti-freeze is ethylene glycol not propylene glycol. It's just a bunch of misinformation and lies. I'm glad I bought my VP-PT and VP1 when I did. What are our suppliers in NY going to do now. I don't want to see good suppliers fade away. I'm pissed!!! -
Ok thanks for answering, I won't be concerned about it anymore. On another note, this VP1 has many advantages that it's my new favorite. Aside from having a long enough battery life to keep me vaping like a fiend, the bright LEDs draw alot of attention. Not everyone will see it as an advantage, but it does help you spread the word. I was at a bar last night, and taking a smoke (er vape) break outside with all the smokers, and when I pulled out the VP1 and started hitting on it, the smokers wanted to talk to me about it. I just happened to have a couple of charged 510s with an atty and loaded cart in my pocket, so I could let them sample it.
