Which e cig would you reccommend for begginer?
aufin replied to syed's topic in General Vaping Discussion
From what little bit I've learned, throat hit is more a matter of pg/vg mixture than nic level. I would think nic can have some small effect since the end result does seem dependant on the total mix, but I believe the nic effects the flavor more than the hit. I have sampled some flavors that had quite a pop with low nic, and vice versa. As to the equipment, I've been quite content using eGo type batteries and EVOD tanks. My first suggestion would be to find a good store with people who know what they're talking about and are willing to take the time to explain everything to your satisfaction about the equipment you're considering - both pro and con. And, this forum is a very good source of information to verify anything you've been told. One more bit of advice would be to have more than one battery, a small number of tanks, and, depending on which tank you choose, a pack or replacement coils/wicks. Nothing worse than being off somewhere when your battery goes dead or your fluids start tasting burnt and you have no backup. If you're committed to replacing tobacco with vaping, your initial investment might be a little more than you expected, but in the long run will be well worth it. -
Hello I'm Isaac and I want to stop smoking...

With e-cigs you can do it. I gave up cigarettes after 50+ years, so you can, too. But first you need to find a local shop that is interested eough in helping you accomplish your goal instead of just selling you a setup and sending you on your way. The people in the shop should be well versed in the electronic cigarette models, How they work as well as what makes them not work so well. Interested enough in giving you the customer service you will need to leave cigarettes behind while you find your e-cig comfort zone. They also should have plenty of experience with flavors, nic levels, and be able to advise you on your PG/VG preferences. E-cigs aren't rocket science, but there is a small learning curve with e-cigs regarding the best vaping technique for you, the e-cig model you prefer, and the flavors and pg/vg mixes you might like so your vape experience will be a pleasant ride while you leave tobacco behind. The shop I go to is 15+ miles away from me. I pass no less than 5 shops, that I know of, to get there. His shop is a small hole-in-the-wall place, but the customer service he provides is the absolute best. He truly enjoys working with his customers. He does custom flavor blends on-site as well as sell e-cigs to both beginners and experienced users, and he will not let a beginner leave without knowing exactly how their equipment works. I've dropped by his store just to visit and have watched many people leave happy after being upset with their equipment when they walked in. I tell you this because you asked for advice. The best advice I can offer is to find a store staffed by people who care, not there just to sell you something and send you on your way to figure things out for yourself. This is what got me on the path of leaving tobacco behind for the past 11 months with no stumbles. This is an excellent forum for both information and just foolin' around. You can ask questions and you'll usually get a timely responce. Sure, you can order things online, but you will still have questions that can best be answered in person by the person selling the equipment. And, you might end up spending your money online on things you might not like. The e-cig setup that has served me well is eGo batteries with EVOD tanks. If you're serious about quitting and doing e-cigs, get yourself at least 2 batteries and a few tanks for different flavors. -
Drivers ....... where do you guys run ........ SE ......midwest ............ all 48? Where? If any of you drivers see an Apex Pilot/Escort truck out there running around, give me a shout.
-
Something else to think about ...... when you're passing a big truck ..... DO IT. Don't creep by. Ever been around a big rig when a tire blows or starts coming apart? Quite dangerous. Above advice applies double to oversize loads. Don't creep by trying to figure out what's on the truck. Quite often the driver can't see what's coming up behind and has to rely on what the escort vehicle driver is telling him. By the same token, the escort driver can't see what may be in the shoulder ahead and has to rely on the driver's information. If there is something the driver has to change or split lanes to avoid and a 4-wheeler is gawking, things can start to get ugly, so get on by. So, pay attention around big trucks rolling down the road. The blinking directional signal may not be asking .... he just may be telling. Big truck drivers are doing a vital job, and most of them do it quite well.

Not sure if my taste buds are revolting or I'm doing something wrong. Been playing with DIY for a short while and sometimes my mixes are ok, sometimes not so much. Which brings me to the question I have been pondering ....... is there a point at which a flavor starts "going backwards" and the finished juice mix just tastes crummy? Lately my mixes have not been tasting as good as I remember - or think they should, but people around me say the odor of the flavor is quite noticeable, and some who I allow to sample my vape, such as mixes blended with Black Cherry, Chocolate, Tosted Marshmallow, say the taste is there, sometimes to the point of being too much for them, but I can hardly taste it. I'm beginning to think it's me getting familair with the flavor to the point where my taste buds ignore it and I need to change directions for a while. I'm mixing at 20% flavor so before I go bumping up the flavor ratio I would like some guidance from some of the more experienced DIYer's.

My Kanger and EVOD tanks get a bit warm, too once in a while. Figured out the wicks are starting to get a little clogged and not allowing as much jiuce to pass, which makes me hold the button a little longer to get the same hit. It's a progressive situation that I don't pay much attention to until things start getting warmer than I think they should. So ..... for me, I either slow down a bit, switch to another setup, or change my coil.
-
Helped?!! Yeah, I'd say so. Bought myself a double starter setup and put down the killers the same day and haven't looked back since Apr 19, 13 ........ after 50+ years of smoking. So, yeah, I'd have to say they've "helped". I keep the opened/stale pack with the date written on it in the console of my truck to remind myself and show any others who may be interested in my tale.

If you're talking about the EVOD/Kanger type coils, I use Efferdent or Polident denture cleaning tabs. I pop the chimney piece off, get rid of the original clogged/toasted flavor wick, let sit in the denture water a while, gently brush the coil and replace the flavor wick with a short piece of cotton yarn - only 2 strands, not 4 - put it all back together when dry and use them again till next time. A box of denture tabs can be found at the dollar stores for cheap, and the yarn from anywhere you can find a roll. A roll of yarn will last A WHILE.

Ain't it great? When I was smoking stinkers all I had to do going out the door was pat my pockets and make sure I had my pack and lighter. Now that I've taken up the vape thing I have to carry around a small camera case for everything I take with me ..... "no it's not a man purse, it's a camera case." And, I'm working on a small box for the house to hold stuff. At least it was small when I started. Now I have to rethink everything since I've been experimenting with DIY. This stuff just grows n grows.

Oh yeah, sure, it's OK to target adults with sugar loaded, tooth decaying kiddie crap ........ but even the appearance of ........ well, ya know.

Did ya see Julia L Dreyfus vaping a Blu on the GGlobes?
aufin replied to Aquatroy's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Nope .... don't watch that kinda stuff. But ... glad to hear- every little bit helps. More product placement on tv and movies would be interesting. -
Welcome aboard ..... even tho you're a C Tide supporter........

That's up to you. Me, I actually kinda enjoyed smoking, so I haven't attempted dropping my Nic level ..... yet. Maybe soon, tho. My daughter-in-law has dropped her nic level to almost 0 after 8 months, so it's all up to whatever you choose....... at your own pace.

Seems every day, or every other day at least, someone posts on this site to say just how pleased they are to be quittng smoking and how easy it is with vapn', or how long they've been without stinkies, or any other stories about quitting after a long time and how easy it is/was, and how much better they feel, both physucally and about themselves. I know I sure do feel better since I started using mine .... and so does everybody around me. To bad no one has bothered to either cruise or mention any of the vape sites in any of their studies. Just sayn'

I second the xtra batt's and tanks. A real pisser when the batt goes out and you're nowhere near a charged-up spare. Also, if you really want to impress yourself, poke around, on this site I think, and set up a banner for yourself. It'll keep track of the number of smokes you're avoiding, and keep a running total of the $$ you're not spending on them. Not so sure if it does Euros or whatever you're using over there.

What they've been saying is, by mixing the two, you would be diluting the higher level with the lower level to end up with around a 15mg/ml mixture.
