Using Electronic Cigarette Is Beneficail For Health?
aufin replied to Bensonada's topic in Vaping Health & Safety
I suppose this is relevant ..... I used to have restless leg syndrome pretty bad at bedtime and had to take aspirin so I could sleep. Since I traded tobacco for vaping my RLS has gotten so much less annoying I rarely have to take anything to sleep. So, yeah, I guess vaping is better for you, not to mention all the other crap you're getting away from in tobacco. -
Curious about something ........ does there seem to be a point where the flavor starts going "backwards". I try to stay around a 50/50 pg/vg and 20% flavor mix, but once I goofed and wound up with around 30% flavor. Just didn't taste good at all.
-
Nah, not really that curious. Was just tossing out thoughts. Besides, I'm satisfied enough with the results I'm gettiing now. If we can figure out how to swing a $2 - $3 million study grant ...... well, guess I'd have to rethink my position.

I don't see why a rock tumbler wouldn't work. An ultrasonic might/could speed up the process by the way ultrasonic machines agitate down to the molecular level, depending on how powerful the ultrasonic machine is, But ...... when usng ultrasonics for mixing/steep acceleration, it has been suggested that bottles of new mixes be placed in plastic bags, then in the water. Makes sense so the labels won't be destroyed, leakage, etc. From my experience, and talking to ultrasonic mach. manuf's., an object's direct contact with the water is best. I'm referring to the cleaning action of ultrasonics, but the same principals should apply. The plastic bottle and plastic bag, and any air trapped in the bag, buffer the usonic waves. With the usonic waves being pretty much buffered down, the usonic becomes just a really good mixer. The small amount of heat generated can be a plus for steeping. A rock tumbler, on the other hand, seems like a pretty good alternative, since steeping seems to be pretty much a matter of time to allow the flavors to blend togther, much like leftover chili, beef stew, etc. And, the rock tumbler can be run over much longer periods of time, keeping the juice mix constantly moving and mixing. Now that I think about it, I think I prefer the rock tumbler for a few days of steeping. Liquid/flavors constantly moving, mixing, no water, simple, inexpencive machine, quiet ........ etc. Yep, I just might start looking for a cheap tumbler.

To anyone serious about getting away from cigarettes I highly recommend starting out with at least a two battery setup. Pretty hard to resist "the urge" with a dead battery, especially when you're away from home and Murphy's Law comes into play. An extra tank or two is a plus, but not absolutely necessary, just nice to have for a little variety. And keep a fresh coil handy when you're out and about. You'll get it all figured out as you progress. Good Luck.

CASAA First Call to Action for FDA Regulations

What difference does it make? Not everyone is concerned with a latest 'n greatest fashion show. Some are quite content with what works for what they're trying to accomplish .... getting rid of cigarettes. Seems a pretty poor attitude if you won't help family members just because they're comfortable with their equipment and aren't interested in "keeping up with the Jones' "

Ummmm ....... tie a string to it ........... tie it to a large helium balloon and have it follow you around .....tape it to your hand .............. buy a set of jacks, drill a hole in the little red ball and put your tank in ....... don't drop it ........... if glass hits something hard it usually always breaks. If you're going to drop it, make sure you're over carpet - thick carpet. Oh yeah ..., welcome to VT. Just havin a bit of fun with ya.

You can also give Johnson Creek a try. Give them a call and explain what you're looking for. They've been around a while and seem to have a pretty good handle on the flavor thing. There's also some very good flavor blender/vendors in here that can probably blend just what you're lookiing for. As you'll eventually figure out, taste is a very individual thing........ kinda like opinions. Trial and error is the name of the game...... and hope the e-juice chef can be consistent with the flavor blends.

Try plugging in Lizard Juice in your browser. Find the closest to you and order some LJ4. Supposed to be close to the RY. I like it, but that doesn't really mean anything. Also give their Cuban a try. Coming off cigarettes, you might like that Lizard's juices - I've been told by one of their distributers - are made with 100% PG, so you'll get the hit. Or you can try DIYing your own. Wizard Labs offers an RY4Double flavor.

Don't know when the session ends. According to the original email from WL, the bill has already passed the state senate unaimously. House vote comes up very, very soon.
-
They shouldn't have to move.

A copied quote from Wizard Labs - "What this means in simple terms are that all future sales of electronic cigarettes, e-liquids, and liquid nicotine in Florida must be conducted in face-to-face transactions at retail stores. This bill currently makes no exceptions for legal online sales to adults." Maybe "in Florida" gives the online sellers a bit of wiggle room........maybe.

From: Wizard Labs (admin@wizardlabs.us) Sent: To: UPDATE 4/21/2014 Due to my original email last night, there have been several active discussions started online surrounding the new language in HB169. I feel it's my responsibility to share some of those updates. I've been in phone conferences late last night and this morning with Kevin Skipper of VISTA (Vaping Industry Strategic Truth Alliance), who has a lobbyist in the state capitol on behalf of the vaping industry. Greg Conley, a well respected attorney in the vaping community has also weighed-in on the CASAA Facebook page regarding the recent changes to the bill. Greg expressed his professional opinion that if this issue had been noticed 2 weeks ago, there may have been merit in attempting an amendment to the bill, but at this late date, with the deadline already upon us, a last minute attempt at changing the law could be more harmful than allowing the bill to pass in its current form. After carefully weighing all of the available options left to us at this time, VISTA has agreed, and decided to hold off on filing official paperwork in Tallahasee this morning. Instead, they have decided the best course of action will be in focusing their efforts behind the scenes to get assurances from the sponsoring representatives that the intention of this new language is not to enforce an online ban in Florida. If those assurances cannot be met, Kevin has advised me that they are fully prepared to file the necessary paperwork to challenge, and we have pledged our support. At this point in time, with the most current information available to me, I am deferring to the expertise of Mr. Conley, CASAA, and VISTA's assessment. Their position is that the time for emails and phonecalls has passed, and our best chances at this late hour now depend on having the bill sponsor go on the record on the House floor that his intent is not to ban sales online. Now that VISTA is aware of the situation, they will be actively working toward that goal over the coming days. I would like to express my gratitude to all of the Florida vaping community who have come together in their passion and awareness over this issue. This situation highlights the importance for all of us to stay involved and informed of any pending legislation that affects us and our community before it's too late. I will be continuing to follow the course of this legislation both on the government website: http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Bills/billsdetail.aspx?BillId=51280 and CASAA's Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/groups/casaamembers?id=220551917982663&ref=notif¬if_t=like Sincerely, John MacLeod Wizard Labs 6808 Hanging Moss Rd Orlando, FL 32807 (321) 422-0803

Really??! I'm shocked!! You mean a new law/bill/ordinance won't make everyone behave? Like ..... underage drinking ....... smoking ...... and guns?!! Wizard, last time I was there, had 2 fairly large office spaces and a number of employees. Way to go, Florida ...... drive them and anyone else in a similar situation out of business. Ignorant, knee-jerk Beaurocrats just can't stand it unless they're sticking their noses into someone else's business, and overregulate them OUT of business.

If you order from Wizard Labs in Orlando, Fl, this will interest you........................ Dear Fellow Floridian, I am writing to you because a new Florida law could directly affect your access to vaping supplies. There is a bill that is about to be passed in the Florida House of Representatives which could possibly be used to eliminate online sales of nicotine, e-liquids and e-cigarettes to adults in Florida. House Bill 169 (HB169) is intended to prevent the sale and possession of electronic cigarettes and e-liquids to minors under the age of 18. Although Wizard Labs is a strong supporter of 18+ regulation for the ecig industry, this bill has language restricting sale and delivery of nicotine products which could be used to eliminate access to online vaping supplies by adults of legal age in Florida. We are urging every Florida vaper to contact their representative tomorrow, Monday morning, and express your concern that any new regulations do not restrict legal adult access to online alternative nicotine products, which could lead to negative consequences by forcing some adult e-cigarette users back to smoking tobacco cigarettes. If you do not know which State House Representative you should contact for your district, you can find out by entering your address, and city on the following webpage: http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/sections/representatives/myrepresentative.aspx Although most of the bill contains reasonable and common sense regulations to prevent e-cigarette usage by minors, the following parts of the bill which could directly affect you as an adult vaper of legal age are as follows: The following language from HB169 Section 11 places new restrictions on how ecigs and e-liquids can be sold after July 1st, 2014: Quote: "(11) RESTRICTIONS ON SALE OR DELIVERY OF NICOTINE PRODUCTS OR NICOTINE DISPENSING DEVICES.— (a) In order to prevent persons under 18 years of age from purchasing or receiving nicotine products or nicotine dispensing devices, the sale or delivery of such products or devices is prohibited, except: 1. When under the direct control, or line of sight where effective control may be reasonably maintained, of the retailer of nicotine products or nicotine dispensing devices or such retailer's agent or employee;" What this means in simple terms are that all future sales of electronic cigarettes, e-liquids, and liquid nicotine in Florida must be conducted in face-to-face transactions at retail stores. This bill currently makes no exceptions for legal online sales to adults. HB169 defines nicotine products as: "any product that contains nicotine, including liquid nicotine, that is intended for human consumption, whether inhaled, chewed, absorbed, dissolved, or ingested by any means" HB169 defines nicotine dispensing devices as: "any product that employs an electronic, chemical or mechanical means to produce vapor from a nicotine product, including, but not limited to, an electronic cigarette, electronic cigar, electronic cigarillo, electronic pipe, or other similar device or product, any replacement cartridge for such device, and any other container of nicotine in a solution or other form intended to be used with or within an electronic cigarette, electronic cigar, electronic cigarillo, electronic pipe, or other similar device or product." Link to the Bill details and history on the Florida House website: http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Bills/billsdetail.aspx?BillId=51280 Link to a PDF of the full Bill text of HB169: https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2014/0169/BillText/c3/PDF We believe this is a heavy-handed approach which will unfairly limit access to an effective alternative for many adult smokers and vapers in Florida. We urge all Floridians affected by this bill to email and phone their House Representative tomorrow morning and ask them to vote NO on HB169 until such time as the language of this bill is amended to include protections for legal adult access to online alternative nicotine products. These protections could reasonably include the use of modern online age verification software, adult signature requirements for mailed packages, or other form of ID and age verification for adult consumers, none of which are currently included in this bill. Again, If you do not know which State House Representative you should contact for your district, you can find out by entering your address, and city on the following webpage: http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/sections/representatives/myrepresentative.aspx The Capitol Office phone number for your State House representative is on the first page next to their photo. To email your representative, click on the Full Detail button under your State House representative’s photo, and an Email Representative button will be available on the next page. This bill has already passed with a unanimous vote in the Florida Senate, and has been placed on special order calendar in the Florida House of Representatives for this Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014. This bill is expected to pass into law unless immediate opposition and action is displayed by Florida vapers. Your House Representative has until 2pm tomorrow, Monday April 21st, to submit any amendments to the bill. If this bill is allowed to pass into law with the current language, Wizard Labs, and other online Florida businesses may be forced to stop online sales to Florida customers on July 1st, 2014. Please take a few moments to send a well thought and respectful email to your representative tonight, and please follow up with a phone call to their Capitol office phone number tomorrow morning. Together we can help shape responsible and common sense regulations for our state. Sincerely, John MacLeod Wizard Labs 6808 Hanging Moss Rd Orlando, FL 32807 (321) 422-0803 You have received this email as a Florida customer of Wizard Labs. We do not normally send newsletters or advertisements to our customers, but because this Florida legislation could directly affect your rights as our customer, we felt the need to inform you with this letter. If you do not wish to receive any notice of this kind, please reply to this email with the subject line “Remove Me”.

1 year today since I exchanged a pack of stink-sticks for my e-cig. After 50+ years of a pack plus a day I put the coffin nails down and haven't looked back. Well, maybe once or twice the first week, but it was only lookn', no touchn'. Told myself "this is the way", stick to it, you can do it. And, for me anyway, it was much easier than I would have ever expected, and much more enjoyable, too. I would whole heartedly reccommend e-cigs to anyone considering quitting smoking who would listen ...... and have on a few occasions to the point of "soap box". After 6+ decades of life I'm not too easily impressed by much, but this e-cig has certainly captured my attention. For the first couple weeks I'd get a craving for a smoke, but after a couple hits of my device things were back on track and moving right along quite nice. Getting rid of stink-sticks was my primary goal, getting to 0 nic is on the back burner. The hand-to-mouth habit is hard to break, but with e-cigs, I don't care - I'm not even trying. Plus, the flavor is so much more enjoyable, not to mention how much better the world smells (and tastes) now,......including me and my truck, and my home, and, and ......... I think I'll go someplace and let my feet do a happy dance. Considering gold plating my first eGo/CE4 and putting it on the shelf as a memento/reminder of another one of my life changing events.

Can't believe I've made it this far!

Keep the faith, Kiddo, you can do it, so pat yourself on the back instead of usiing your foot. If I can, so can you. 50+ years of nasties for me and in 2 days I'll be stink-stick free for 1 year. Remember ...... quitting's easy. Staying quit is the hard part ........ unless you're vapn'. -
