  1. Apr 19 '13 .......... bought my setup, laid my pack of smokes in the console and they're all still there ...... every one of those stale, nasty things. And I don't even miss 'em after 50+ years of inhaling their poison. Really don't mean to change the subject, but just what make those ignorant, self-important beaurocrats think they know best what's good for us?!! Seems no matter what day I read these posts, there's always someone new to vaping and excited they are leaving that nasty unhealthy tobacco behind. Maybe if the law makers made the effort to take the time to do a little reserch, they'd come to realize just what good e-cigs actually do. Guess that's ust too much to ask of them. Afterall, they're just so busy listening to all those lobyists. Congrats, bcarter, I'm right there with you. And everyone else going down the quitting road. Read my tag.
  2. As I understand the ohms thing, ohms is a measurement of resistance to current flow through something - such as the heating coil wire in your tank. The lower the resistance the quicker and hotter the coil can get, thereby producing more vapor at a faster rate than a higher ohms rated coil. Also has a chance of burning your coil out quicker, too. If you want easier "pull" you'll have to open up the air vents to allow more air to pass through and over the coil as you draw (suck). But, opening the air holes too much can be a little counterproductive, too. Too much airflow can cool the coil and keep it from heating the juice to optimum vapeing temp.
  3. Welcome aboard. Your story sounds much like mine. 50+ years of the nasty ones, tried quitting a few times without success till I got my e-cig. Tried the cig look-a-likes, but turned out to be a waste of money. Bought my eGo and EVOD tank in April and haven't had a nasty since..... don't miss them, either. Still working the same tanks with newer batteries and coils. Your e-cig will work for you if you want it to.
  4. Maybe it's just me, but I've been content with the eGo style 1100 extended life batteries topped with EVOD tanks. Simple, relatively inexpencive and, for me, durable enough to last long enough to rub the paint off. Pop in a fresh coil and keep on keepn' on.
  5. Mia, I like the way "you guys" think.
  6. If anyone's interested, I was recently shown how to do a minor rebuild on EVOD type coils. I posted it under the Dawn Dishwashing Liquid thread.
  7. The "chimney"is the small tube sticking out the top of the coil/heating element right above where the wick stick out. It has a silicone piece I assume is a gasket to prevent leaking. To take apart, just pull and "twist" as if you're trying to break a pencil. It's easy once you get the hang of it. Whether you have to remove it is up to you. Personally, I think it allows for a more thorough cleaning and allows the wick to be replaced once it gets clogged or toasted. For the yarn, I use white cotton yarn I got from wally-world. There are two wicks - one is wrapped in the heating coil - do not mess with that one. The second wick was explained to me as a flavor wick. It will come out quite easy. To replace it, cut a short piece of yarn, separate it into three strands - you want to use only two strands. Place the two strands across the coil where the original wick was, reseat the chimney making sure it is seated all the way down, reseat the gaket, and you have accomplished a minor rebuild on your miniature fog machine. For your first experiment use a coil you can do without in case something goes wrong. Using denture cleaning tablets without taking the heating element apart is better than nothing, but whether it will give satisfactory results is up to you. I take mine apart. I think it allows for a more complete cleaning, but that might be just my way of thinking.
  8. The "magic wand" thing looks like where I (and probably everyone else, too) started but eventually moved on. I would suggest getting yourself an EVOD type tank, or three, (it'll fit your battery) and I think you'll be much happier for quite a while. EVOD's draw smoother and easier than either the CE4 or 5, they clean easier and are more durable. Just change the heating element (coil) and keep on vapn'.
  9. Try Efferdent instead. I remove the chimney piece from my EVOD coils, let Efferdent work on them for a while, rinse, let dry and replace the toasted flavor wick with a piece of cotton yarn and presto ..... clean fresh taste ....... if the heating element hasn't burned out. Then it goes in the trash.
  10. I like Varney, but in this he acted a little naieve ....... but still sort of a positive look at ENDS and vapn'. http://video.foxbusiness.com/v/2900366972001/the-rise-of-the-e-cigarette/?intcmp=fbfeatures
  11. Methinks there's way more lurkers here than regular posters. Yep, I'm guilty although this is one of my daily reads.
  12. I see you're in Winter Haven. If you find yourself in the Seffner area you gotta drop by Your Tobacco Source. Bradford has over 800 flavors to choose from. You can get a pretty good buzz working tryng to decide which flavor to choose from the testors he has out on the testor table. On second thought, a special effort to visit Brad's place just might be worth the trip.
  13. I have a question ..... are any e-cigs made start-to-finish here in the US? I don't expect e-cigs to be totally banned here, and I'm not sure how regulations might effect them, either. But, if any form of regulation might have an effect on the sales of e-cig apparatus, I would think China might have a little say in the matter and apply some pressure on DC. Afterall, China seem to carry a pretty big stick with regards to our debt. If I'm way off base, I'm all ears.
  14. Digital camera went belly-up, so I now have a small camera case crammed with all sorts of vapn' stuff ...... with plenty of room for more.. Plenty of inexpencive ones in different sizes and configurations at Wally-World.
  15. Flight Announcement Shortly after a British Airways flight had reached its cruising altitude, the captain announced: "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your captain. Welcome to Flight 293, non-stop from London Heathrow to New York. The weather ahead is good, so we should have a smooth uneventful flight. So, sit back, relax, and.........OH... MY GOD!" Silence followed. Some moments later, the captain came back on the intercom. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm sorry if I scared you. While I was talking to you, a flight attendant accidentally spilled coffee in my lap. You should see the front of my pants!" From the back of the plane, an Irish passenger yelled....... ."For the luva Jaysus......you should see the back of mine!
  16. OK ...... Anyone interested in taking a survey for the cause? Link is to a local news article with an additional link in the article to a survey by a respectable cancer center. The survey doesn't ask for any personal information, takes a few minutes to complete. http://www.wtsp.com/news/topstories/article/344708/250/Are-e-cigarettes-really-better-for-you
  17. Interesting small article. Maybe there is some hope afterall ....... http://www.foxnews.com/health/2013/11/13/e-cigarettes-may-save-millions-lives-scientists-say/?intcmp=obnetwork
  18. Got a friend to give up analogs for vapn' this weekend but can't find a vape shop anywhere near them. Anyone know of a store in the Savannah - Statesboro corridor I can direct them to for supplies and juice? Seems e-cigs other than Blues are a big mystery in the area. Kinda hard to believe with Ga Southern Univ in the area and Savannah being such a big destination type city. Found only one shop listed in Sav, but they wouldn't answer the phone ........ on a Saturday.
  19. Just what makes anyone think the govt intends to act rationally concerning e-cigs?!! Look at some of the crap that's come out of DC the past few years. How much of that really made sense? My Opinion ....... that whole bunch of two-faced, self-important, liars up there in DC are going to do whatever makes them "feel" good or somehow directly impacts their pocket. In the past few years I've lost all confidence in our govt. to do what makes sense. These guys can't stand it unless they're micro-managing even the smallest issue that they have no business in, and finding ways of taxing everything else. I'm hoping for the best, but am preparing for the worst ........I'm stocking up. "Just my opinion.........I could be wrong."
  20. Your taste preferences seem to be kinda like your favorite color, taste in furnishings, life style ..... it is what it is and probably won't change much. Probably wander around looking at others, but come back to your personal comfort zone. Maybe with a few minor modifications, maybe not. Been vapn' over 6 montths and have tried a bunch of flavors, (cucumber/mint ... yow!) but keep coming back to my base ...... Captain Black with Black Cherry, and a strong Cappuchino with either carmel or vanilla. Have a number of flavors I hit occasionally just to break the monotony, but my regulars are always with me. I like the coffees, too so I intend to try an espresso with a back flavor. Putting together a DIY flavor assortment order so my venture into the flavor experiments won't be so expencive ....... $8.00 for a 10ml taste experiment doesn't sit too well with the pocket.
  21. Must be a secret. Just dong some basic math, the savings should be quite significant. Plus the control I'd have with flavors. And, the convenience of not having to buzz around looking for the "right" flavor guy. On the other hand......I'd have noone to blame but myself ......... I can live with that.
  22. Interested in knowing this, too, but judging from poll results, doesn't seem like others are.
