I was using 100%VG until this weekend, when (on the advice of kitsune), I started mixing in PG of the same flavor to improve wicking. I started with a 1:1 PG/VG, but I've been gradually increasing the VG portion since. 1:4 PG/VG seems to suit my taste, and I'm still not getting those "pops" I was experiencing with the 100%VG. I've been getting my juice at my local shop, but just ordered a sampler of 80/20 VG/PG juices from wordup ecigs on a friend's recommendation. My new 1.8ohm coils shipped this morning; I'm really anxious to try them; I've been using 2.2's since I've started vaping.

Oooh, good to hear... My first spinner just shipped this morning!

I'm certainly not dead set on a mod, just getting on getting the best vaping experience without feeling like I'm carrying a sidearm (my first thought when I handled the Zmax). There are some great suggestions here... After reading Blu's first post, I just ordered a 1350mah spinner and some lower resistance coils for my protank - a $30 trial that I certainly can live with. Hopefully I can become more familiar with the settings and see if I can tweak my setup without dishing out a few hundred bucks! I'm using 2.2ohm coils now and ordered 1.8's to play with. I am very interested in rebuilding my own coils (seems pretty straightforward), but I don't want to risk getting ahead of myself for now. @IMEDIC: Thanks for bringing up the durability of the eVic. I definitely don't kidglove my vape like I should, so that's going to be a consideration for me. This info is very helpful - exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to all!! P.S. - The Provari looks like a nice little mod; If I do end up going that route, I'll be adding that to my short list.

Just did this with my protank (D'oh!). My victim was my mac keyboard. The numeric keypad is still touch-and-go. :-(

Well done!

I'm currently using an ego-C twist vv, and looking to upgrade to my first variable voltage mod. After asking around online and at my local vape shop, it seems everyone is pushing me towards the ZMax. After my own research, however, I find myself leaning towards the Joye eVic. I'm curious what experiences you've had with either product. My reasons for considering an upgrade really boil down to: 1. I'd like more taste & vapor, and can't help but take notice to the bellowing clouds coming out of the "big boys" I see people using. 2. I'm tired of carrying three ego batteries and multiple chargers everywhere I go. A longer usage time per charge (I'm a very heavy vaper) would make my daily life a bit easier. The smaller size of the eVic in comparison to the Zmax is very appealing. I'm on the move for most of my day, and (although I probably shouldn't) I keep my PV in my pocket at all times. I also like that the eVic can be charged without removing the battery (replacing the chargers and ego batts in my bag with a bunch of recharchables doesn't seem like a step in the right direction). Those pushing the ZMax seem to applaud its battery life, and the fact that it can be extended to accommodate two batteries at once. Valid points, but I still feel like it's far too big to schlep around in my pocket all day! Unfortunately, I haven't actually held the eVic in my hands to get a feel for it, so I'm just comparing the measurements of the two. It seems to me that both devices are similar in bells and whistles. I typically vape at ~4.2v, so it seems either mod will have the power I need. Since this is my first attempt at a mod, I don't know if there are any other variables I should be considering, or if there are any known advantages to either of these products over the other. Right now, I'm leaning heavily towards the eVic, but if those more experienced have any advice to offer, I'm all ears!

I find the Kanger Protank to be simple and reliable. I like it's capacity for a little more juice as well.

This incredibly simple advice was helpful to me when got my first vape: With regards to suction, I was advised to think of using a straw. "Dragging a cigarette is like drinking a milkshake" she said, then told me to vape as if I were "drinking water with the straw". Of course, the longer duration factored in as well. As silly as it sounded, I do think it helped, and I'd be lying if I told you I don't still think of that conversation now and again when vaping lol.

It hasn't come up for me yet, but I'm curious about how a PV and accessories would fare as a carry-on. I have to assume the combination of metal parts, electronics, and liquid could be quite a headache during a TSA inspection. Does anyone have any experience flying with your gear?

Is 'your' memory lane this long?

I just saw one in a local bar a few weekend ago, complete with the table-hockey style levers with the big handle-grips lol! The price per pack: $12.00. Sooooo glad that's behind me! Any current or former smokers will probably agree that if there was no other option (and you've had a few drinks), I wouldn't think twice about shelling out the cash for a fix. -
My kids are 10, 8, and 6. They have never seen me vape and I don't plan on exposing it to them at any point. My thinking is that it has potential to "trivialize" nic use, and could even glorify smoking as well (I think of it as the "candy cigarette effect"). I smoked for 2 1/2 years until I picked up vapor, and none of my children once saw me with a cigarette (although they would often tell me that I stunk lol). Congrats on the GKids! -K

Ok, I'm a happy camper! I just picked up a PG batch from the shop (The self-proclaimed "juice nazi" was hesitant to brew it 100%PG - not really sure why, but who am I to judge lol). I did a quick mix by topping off my tank (probably about 4:6 PG/VG) and giving it a good shake. The difference is shocking. No pops, just smooth, silent vapor! Could the solution really be this simple?! I'm going to make a proper 50/50 mix when I get home, but this is promising!

"Tangled Tobacco" from Vaporphoxxe, a local vape shop in my area. I've been using 100%VG @ 18mg. Yummy!

I did breakdown the coil unit (just out of curiosity, really), but didn't think to check for proper gaps. The thing is, I've experienced this with at least 4 coil heads. Granted, they were likely from the same manufacturing batch. I used a standard multimeter when I broke the coil down and got ~2.1ohms on a well-used coil. Since I had never considered the juice being the source, I'm going to pick up some 100%PG later today (hoping I can use my existing VG of the same flavor to play around with mixing ratios). I sure would hate to find that I can't use this flavor since I love it so much! Many thanks (and one "mahalo" @kitsune) for your suggestions!!!

Perhaps it is the juice itself? I'm gonna give kitsune's suggestion a try (hopefully tomorrow). The resistance was just a shot in the dark since I'm pretty much clueless lol. I'll be sure to let you know if using the PG/VG makes a difference. -K

I've fallen in love with "Tangled Tobacco" from Vaporphoxxe. It's a very sweet flavor, but distinctly tobacco based. I'm spoiled since the shop is right down the road from me, but if you're willing to order online, I don't think you'll be disappointed! K

Hmmm... I hadn't considered that. I'm pretty sure the juice is 100%VG, and it's definitely a lot more viscous than most liquids I've seen people use. Hopefully I can swing by tomorrow and have them brew a 50/50 to see if it makes a difference. Thanks so much for the suggestion!

Apologies if this is elementary... I've only been vaping since March of this year. I'm currently using an eGO-C 1000mah VV with a Kanger ProTank. The only juice I've had in it is VG (and friggin' DELICIOUS!), with 2.2ohm coils. After playing around with voltage, I've found that 4.0 - 4.2 volts suits my taste, however I am consistently getting "pops" when taking a drag. It's not the typical "gurgle", and I'm definitely on top of keeping my tank clean. At 4.2v, I've even experienced a sharp burn at times (it almost feels like a spark from a sparkler in my mouth), accompanied with a nasty taste on the hit. Dropping to ~3.6v definitely seems to eliminate the "pops", but doesn't really satisfy my taste. My (very unexperienced) suspicion is that I am not using the proper resistance coils, but truthfully, I have no idea if this is logical (and if so, what change should I be making). I've been using 2.2ohm replacement coils for no other reason than that was the type that came packaged with my tank when I bought it. Thanks in advance for any advice you might be able to offer! Cheers, K P.S. - If anyone's interested in the Juice that hooked me to vaping, it's from a small shop in the Philly 'burbs: http://shop.vaporphoxxe.com/Tangled-Tobacco-48.htm

Hey everyone! Picked up smoking (after 10 years off) in September '11. Tried e-cigs as a last ditch effort in March of this year, and seriously haven't even thought of an analog since (I even gave away the half pack I had left)! Needless to say, I'm in love with this technology and honestly enjoy vaping more than I ever enjoyed smoking. Looking forward to learning more about the ins-and-outs here... cheers! K
