  1. Your Japanese matchlock sounds cool. I would guess crafted by a single smith and perhaps one of a kind. That one I'd hang on to.
  2. There are a number of juice vendors that offer the pg/vg ratio you want. Tasty Vapor and Mount Baker Vapor are 2 that quickly come to mind. TV offers custom flavor mixes as well as sweeteners. MBV offers custom mixes, extra flavoring added.
  3. How does it compare to the original Vision Vivi Nova? How does it compare to the Protank? Even if it compares favorably I'll probably want to wait to hear any possible downsides after extended use. Things like coil/wick life, ease of rebuilding, leak development, parts failing, general quirkiness, etc.
  4. Bean counter is an age old reference to an accountant. Of course somewhere there is probably somebody that gets paid to count actual beans.
  5. I don't know squat about your Trident, but here's a link to rebuilding Protank coils from this forum _ It's not a Trident but the principle of coil winding should be a little bit similar. Then again. I have no clue about a Trident.
  6. Electrical safety program coordinator for US sites of a European manufacturer.
  7. MBV's root beer, sticky bun and some homemade blueberry cheesecake using tfa flavorings. These days I keep 3 pv's going when I'm at home. Yeah, I like the sweet dessert kinda juices.
  8. With the Protanks I just take a few power off pulls when using a fresh coil to prime the wicks. Then I vape and go. No waiting. When I used Vivi Novas I used to fray or unravel the wick strands to improve wicking. When using a new Vivi Nova head I'd drip a drop of juice on the coil itself, screw the top on and vape. No waiting.
  9. There is no reason you can't use a Protank right after you wash it. I do it all the time. I'll rinse the coil if I want to change juice flavors and use it right away provided it wasn't all gunked up. I blow it out first, insert it in the tank and within a few hits it's performing as usual.
  10. I used to collect military rifles that ranged in period from the Civil War through WWII. The only "newer" one I had was a Russian SKS. But I started selling them off a couple of years ago. I had too many and they were just collecting dust for the most part. I've still got a few though. My favorite is an M1 carbine. I call that one my fun gun. Got a few handguns but was always more of a long gun kinda guy.
  11. I actually used the Joye 510 pen style for quite a while. Once I got some of the extended life (long) batts the time between charges became at least tolerable. Of course I had several to rotate through. Once I got an eGo I stayed with them for months. I still use them for work since they're more discreet than my mods.
  12. A basic Joye 510 kit with 1 auto and 1 manual battery, a couple of atomizers, a few prefilled cartridges and a charger. Within a week I'd quit smoking altogether while feverishly ordering more vape supplies from Cignot.com.
  13. Can't say I have a favorite. Different vendors carry different stuff. Sometimes one is out of stock of something I want while another has it in stock. Depends on what I'm looking for and who has it in stock for what price.
  14. Saw a local tv news report related to this within the last hour. It was chock full of misinformation as has become the norm - exploding devices and children flocking to ecigs in record numbers. "Oh the children! The children!!" The time tested propaganda rallying cry to ban anything and everything.
  15. I've had an evic since they first came out at the end of last year. The ability to go past 5V is a non issue when you use a delivery device in the correct resistance range. More is not always better. I have several apv's and the evic is my favorite. I wouldn't exactly call it fragile but I wouldn't use it for a hammer either as I wouldn't my phone. I tend to take care of devices I value but certainly don't have to take extreme measures with my evic.
  16. Aside from tanks, etc. I'd recommend the op get a variable voltage battery pv. An eGo twist or vision spinner are both pretty inexpensive. Obviously he can go more high end but just starting out may want to get some experience before committing the $$$ to an apv. The variable voltage really lets one dial into the best vape depending on the resistance of whatever device coil you're firing.
  17. I don't understand the compulsion to test your nic level first of all.
  18. Personally I go with not over thinking things. Use some basic math skills to calculate how many parts of this and how many parts of that combine for the total desired nic strength and pg/vg mix. Personally I then calculate 15-20% of that total and add that amount of flavoring. The flavoring end of things is going to vary widely from person to person of course. I don't use drops as a measure. Way too variable and thus inaccurate. I use a graduated vessel of which there is a wide variety. A simple measuring cup is a graduated vessel for larger volumes though I don't advocate you use one. A graduated scientific vessel of desired volume would be best imo but there are a lot of things that fall between those ranges. For smaller volumes a syringe would be good. It's not rocket science.
  19. More diy supplies, fresh batteries and a better charger ordered and arriving this week.
  20. I bought a small ultrasonic cleaner a couple of years ago to clean coil heads, etc. It didn't seem to be any improvement over just soaking parts. Now all I use it for is steeping newly purchased or diy juice.
  21. You can forget about cleaning cartomizers. Way back I tried every method imaginable. The best results I ever got were mediocre and then only a handful of times with one specific brand and type of carto.
  22. I came home from work and my new Vamo was waiting for me. I've been hitting it exclusively since. Got a jwrap for it too. My only surprise was that it's actually about 3//8" longer than my Sigelei Zmax telescope. Anyway, nice device so far. Good vape. It may be new toy delusion but the vape seems marginally better than the Zmax. Evic's still my favorite though due in part to being able to adjust wattage in .1 increments instead of .5 in the Vamo and Zmax.
  23. I believe that you can set the output of that device to either RMS or mean voltage. It makes a huge difference. RMS is much smoother and is where you probably want to be..
