  1. this is my first attempt but kind of aggressive for me. I'm thinking about building a mod. the item that I'm going to convert has a box in it for two AA batteries. First, isn't AA too low a voltage to work? Second, is there a battery that is the same size but will work. Third, can I put a mini or micro usb port in the bottom so that I can charge or use it as a passthrough too.? I appreciate the help. Thanks.
  2. I've gotta say, I can't believe what a great product SmokeStik is. Yes, they are a little pricey. But if you purchase $50 of cartomizers from them every 6 wks, (which is pretty easy) their batteries are guaranteed for life. 100%. They are automatics but they don't use the typical vibration switch. They use a real vacuum switch so there's no "false on" problems. The Cartomizers are of such good quality that you can refill them over and over. We've yet to burn one out. But even if you don't refill, their flavor is great. Reminds me of how a smooth pipe used to smell.. My daughter picked up the SS Royale and really likes it. I guess more than anything, I have to comment that Lorraine in customer service has been wonderful. She's so attentive and available. I know that most "premium" ecigs are a disappointment for the price... but not SmokeStik. They are the real deal.
  3. Hello all, I got a mouthfull of juice the other day from an overfilled cartomizer. It made my tongue really numb. Then a few days later, got another taste from a different cart... different flavor and stength. My tongue was not so numb. Question, Is it the nicotine that causes the numbing? If so, is the relative numbness an indicator of the relative strength of a juice? I ask this because i've noticed that High nic juice could mean anything from 18 to 36 mg. Depending on the supplier and they don't all have the mg's on them. Some are just marked High, Med or Low.. or NO. Any thoughts.
  4. The average cost to get a drug or drug dispensing device on the market is $800,000,000.00 With phase 1-4 studies all the way to the store. With the tobacco companies lobbying the FDA to shut down ecigs... could the ecig industry handle that kind of cost? People will go underground and start condensing their own nicotine.
  5. Of course you realize that VaporTalk has a store too!!!!
  6. OK, I got as far as the BogeTech site and short circuited. I'll rest a moment, reset my brain and try again. Yeah, I figured that... but I'm trying to figure out if there is a system to the other sizes. i.e. will a L88B cart fit on to a 4081 bat. (just an example... I'm pretty sure they aren't compatible) Thanks again for the help.
  7. Thanks for the input. I appreciate the help.
  8. Hello all. As I get more into this, I'm getting a little more confused about the numbering system for the different styles. For example... I see that a DSE808 appears to be a large battery box type while the KR808D seems to be a 110mm mini. I understand that some stores sell the product as their branded name... Revolver Elite, SmokeStik Classic... and I understand that they are a particular style... (smokestik is a 4081). I have the model/compatibility chart ( www.e-cigarette-wiki.com/index.php?title=Brand_and_Model_Compatibility_Chart ) I like the chart, but I'm wondering if there is a system to the numbering... What does DSE stand for vs. KR. What does the 808 refer to? Is one of the numbers a reference to the thread size and count? Does the DSE808 use the same cart as the KR808? So for those of you that are as anal about this as me.... I'd love an explanation. Thanks As always....I'm HyOnLyph.
  9. They talk about emulsions having the flavor "bound" into suspension... I'm thinking the binding process may not let the flavor vaporize. Might work great for baking but I'm hesitant regarding vapor. Could you taste the flavor but not vapor?
  10. Most of the emulsions that I saw are water soluable. They are cloudy. I saw on another thread that someone was concerned over a "cloudy" mix. I would expect that an emulsion additive would make it cloudy too. Still doing a little research before I dive into this.
  11. Really? If I buy flavorings I need to make sure they are water soluable? That's a big deal. Glad I'm just perusing the forum to see what it takes to DIY.
  12. I buy mine at the Vitamin store. Manufacturer is Nature's Answer. It says "Pure Vegetable Glycerin - Alcohol Free Extract.... Holistically ballanced... blah blah blah ". About $5 for 120 ml. (4 fl oz) At first, I saw some glycerin at CVS pharmacy. The pharmacist told me it was cosmetic glycerin for applying to your skin. He could not guarantee that it was pure enough for vaping. Hope that helps.
  13. Oops. thanks for moving... I thought that's what this was. ;o)
  14. I was considering a little DIY experimentation. Mostly because, in our women's home, the ladies want some sweet fruity and chocolate flavors with Zero nicotine. I looked at LorAnns and I found a website called The Baker's Kitchen http://www.thebakerskitchen.net/extracts-and-flavors.aspx They both sell "emulsions". I don't know if those work as well. The are supposed to be more potent in bakery goods. I did a search of the DIY forum and couldn't find anything. Any thoughts?
  15. I've seen others say it is the KR808D-1. Should be able to find a lot of compatible parts. After reviewing a few posts and other forums it looks like it's a pretty flaky outfit. Possibly bad batteries and very poor customer service.
  16. Found a Compatibility Chart online. If you copy and paste it into a spreadsheet, you can vary the sort. As it is, it is sorted by length. http://www.e-cigarette-wiki.com/index.php?title=Brand_and_Model_Compatibility_Chart Check it out... it helps me.
  17. {Big smile} Sounds like we're getting a little off topic. But secretly I know you guys have been talking to my wife and are trying to get me all riled up aren't you? Guess we better start a topic on the condition of the world as we know it. ;o) Or... just take another puff of that passthrough sitting by your computer.
  18. I guess my post was confusing. I'm not interested in buying from china. Just wondering about chinese made vs. usa made products. Sorry for the confusion.
  19. Thanks, I'm not thinking about buying from china. Just wondering about Chinese vs. USA products. I'm currently buying from WordUp... Joye510. WordUp has been great.
  20. Thanks for the reply... I guess that is where I'm confused. Some local vendors, SmokeStik for example, swear their product is Made in the USA. Of course the numbering is different but they look just like the 510. Currently I'm dealing with a great guy (WordUp) for my 510 and accessories. Customer service is impeccable. And the price is right. But it seems that some people are very pro-American made and I just couldn't understand the difference. I understand about the juice. If some products are custom made in the USA, then it would probably be hard to find any consistency and interchangeability among manufacturers. Maybe I misunderstood. Maybe the Chinese models are the "real deal". I appreciate your input.
  21. Hello all, OK, now that I have the ecig and some variety of juices and carts, I have a question about strength of nicotine in the juice vs the carts. In the standard package of carts that I got, they are rated high, med, low, and no. The juices that I have are rated 11 mg. PG, 24 mg PG and 36 mg. PG. As I look on this forum, the strengths generally discussed are 6, 12 and 18. So far, the girls in our women's home have only used carts rated high or med. After only a few puffs, they say they are getting buzzed and headachey as if they were smoking a cigar or something. Even the woman who smokes Marlboro reds. I guess I should have told them to start with the low cart but thought the high was more like a regular full strength cig. (I know I can purchase 0 juice and dilute. I plan on doing that. Is there a standard or typical concentration? Does everyone talk the same language with regards to concentrations? Thanks again for all of the support from this forum.
  22. Hello all, I've looked through some of the posts and find some discussion about USA made vs. China made e-cigs. I see how to tell which is which and that many people think that USA made are better. In general though, I don't see why. I understand that the juice is different and China juice may have additional contaminants. So OK, I'll avoid Chinese juice and carts. But what about the equipment. Some of you may be aware that my wife and I have a home for women. We have picked up a few 510 kits in an effort to give our smokers an alternative. (by the way... I mentioned ecigs to a friend of mine who bought one immediately. In a few days, He's already stopped coughing and has completely lost that stale smoke odor. He is really excited and His wife has asthma and she is so grateful) Back on topic.... Is there any real difference in the 510 Chinese vs USA. Prices vary so much ($49 to $120 for the same kit) that it's hard to make a determination as to one product being better than another. For me, getting the best deal for the money makes a difference. Thanks
