I would recommend 50-50 to start, maybe even 60vg-40pg. Just quitting he probably needs some throat hit but even with 60-70%VG the throat hit should be there at 24mg.

His Dr. probably smokes. I justified continuing to smoke for years in much the same way.

No way he should start at less than 24mg imo. He is not going to be satisfied.

The bolded above is why I think one should have to take a test and obtain a license to open a vape shop. They are probably selling garbage liquids if they are giving advice that a backup battery can help with too much throat hit. Have him get a higher VG% liquid and lower PG% at the same nic levels and try that. Things like this make me thrilled to have the established online supplier network I have and do not have to rely on B&Ms for advice. You will get much better here than at most.

Yea and I really only use my Vamo at home now, or on long road trips. I am back to using Vision Spinners probably 80%+ of the time. The Vamo is nice and I like the features but I follow the KIS method anymore.

I pretty much exclusively vape Fuzion flavors that have no PG added. They stop short of calling it 100% VG but it is a 100% VG base with flavors that contain some PG. Either way the taste is incredible. Order a sampler of Unicorn Blood and you will retract this statement lol. I cannot even stand 50-50 anymore, and I use a tank. The flavorings thin it out plenty to wick fine in my KPT 2s and Davide Minis. I have a 70pg-30vg Spearmint I keep for occasions I do not want much vapor and need to be satisfied by a draw or two (Airplanes, restaurant bathrooms, airports, social functions in indoors environments etc...) but I can only take it for a little while. 20 days from 1 year smoke free, and I do not want any throat hit anymore lol.

If you are able I would get extra batteries. Between my wife and I we have about 12 total in regular rotation and 6 chargers. When the pile on the table of dead batteries gets to 6 I plug them in. Small investment in relation to smoking analogs and never a worry of having a dead battery.

Everything I use lol. Only been in a physical shop once I order everything and it comes in the mail thus VapeMail.

It is a local Vape Shop that does it at their meets. I do not go to Vape Meets or Vape SHops for that matter, but send my extra stuff with my sister in law. I will try and see if I can get their contact info and post it here. She is in the stone age and doesn't realize its "ok" to order online so she pays B&M prices lol. I could sell her KPT coils for $3 and make mine free since she pays $3.99 for a KPT coil now at the cheapest shop in town.

Davide Mini or as others have said KPT 2. I have several of both.

I went with a Vamo and use it some but use Vision Spinners more now. Just more portable and I am rarely not on the go. Everyone is different I just stick to the basics and buy tons of backups.

One of the big reasons I use Mini Davides and KPT 2s is because of the coil compatibility. Never got into dual coils.

All my Spinners both new and old charge without doing this. I have 4 1300s and 4 650s. The 1300s are almost a year old and the 650s are about a month old.

It's not rebranded, unless I am mistaken the Dekang (I call it Deskank) they carry is all made in China.

Fuzion and ECBlends are both great although I favor Fuzion over any other I have tried to date.

Everyone likes something different, but I would question the utter existence of tastebuds in the mouth of anyone that says they like it. I tried them thinking the same thing about 8 months ago and can still recall the putrid chemical smell and taste. I sent some liquids free to another member of the forum and the "Turkish Blend" had spilled into the bag and even they said the smell is horrific. Of the dozens of liquids I have tried, the stuff I got from there is at the very bottom of the list. Not only do I think it tastes and smells like a cleaning product that has gone bad, I truly question the safety of something that smells and tastes so rank. Its the one with the dumb posts in the supplier sub forums. Remember the liquids I sent you for your friend? Remember the one that spilled? Yes, that was from them.
