  1. Not sure really my Davides are doing fine just always concerned about backups and what to do when mine are worn out. I prefer a looser draw that's the main difference for me with the Davide vs the KPT with or without the aero base. I find the aero tank and bases to be a PITA. I think I may order a couple of the Davides that Eric has at Discount Vapers. After trying most every tank that uses single coils this is the one I like the most and there is not a close second. Does not sound like the SubTank is for me. The coils may last longer but I sure like paying 80 cents for a coil (I order them 100 or 200 at a time) because I change mine every 4-5 days to keep a fresh taste. What i want is glass, can be fully disassembled, 3ml capacity minimum, looser draw, dependable and low maintenance and use KPT single coils. Sounds like its Davide or change all together.
  2. Eff it I may just try a SubTank with 1.5ohm coils. I wonder how that would compare? I think it's ugly like all the subohm tanks I see but I'm more about utility. It's just hard to start paying 3 times more for coils the way I go through them but I may try one and see what I think. Wish I could get 1.8 ohm. If I am going to use 1.5 ohm coils what makes a SubTank different than a KPT with a 1.5 ohm coil? I know nothing about them and have avoided it all together but my Davides are going to last another year maybe they are so beat up and the choices are slim for a simple tank with good airflow that is not a subohm capable tank.
  3. Yea I knew that but what is BCC? Im just sick of everything I like getting replaced by more complicated more expensive ****. Maybe I am just at the point I need to try to just quit all together, start stepping down nicotine etc... It wont be long and the savings that keep me going with the whole Vaping thing will start evaporating. I have never spent more than $15 on a tank. The largest single vaping item I have bought are these ISticks that were $50. Before that I only used Vision Spinners and was completely happy with those but the battery life of the 50w sold me. I feel like if I ever did go to a B&M I would have to shop in the clearance section, Money is not the issue at all, but I want what I want lol. I think I am gonna e-mail Eric at DV and ask of I buy 12 of the last 42 in existence and they are not the same as the ones I have now if I can return them lol.
  4. Ok once again I find myself having a hard time finding what I like from where I want to buy it from. Anyone know the difference in the Anyvape (Aspire) Davide BCC vs BDC? I was going to order 3 or 4 extras to put back as it seems tanks that use KPT single coils are getting harder and harder to find and I have tried almost everything else and cannot get close to the same experience. I will not use anything subohm or with dual coils. Any advice? Discount Vapers has the BDC version but has a lot of disclaimers about how you have to remove part of the base to use it with KPT singles and with the ones I have now that is not necessary making me think this is a different tank than the one I like. I DO NOT like Kanger Pro Tanks with or without the Aero base either lol. The only tank I have found that I truly like is the old 2.5ml Davide Mini and the 3.0ml Davide full size and its just my luck Sweet-Vapes does not have them any more and the ones Discount Vapers has look and sound different based on Erics description. Those are about the only two places I will order hardware from. Maybe its time to change once these finally are ready to be replaced, I just have no idea what with. This is the one DV has: http://www.discountvapers.com/anyvape-davide-bdc-glassomizer-aspire-version/ Read the description about removing the larger base. I DO NOT have to do that with my current tank. I may just order a dozen of these and be good if they are the same ones I am using now.
  5. Just another case of another worthy cause being "their own worst enemy".
  6. Bebop I agree sub ohm and cloud chasing are completely different and do not mean to lump them together. Its not the act of sub ohming or even cloud chasing that is dangerous to our perception it is the place and time people choose to do it. Take that complete idiot Cesar. He felt he had the "right" to vape wherever he wanted with no regard to what others thought. It is inevitable he will end up with a cloud chasing rig at some point and have no regard for others around him. That is what I am talking about not the guy on his back deck blowing clouds lol. There are lots of things I can condone doing in my home, car, boat etc... that I would not deem acceptable in a social environment.
  7. Everyone knows I do not do the whole B&M thing anyway but I follow them on Facebook and at least one of them is finally speaking out against cloud competitions and wrote a great article about "Vaping as a sport" and how it is detrimental to our rights. They condemn the competitions BUT still push sub-ohm as "the only way to go" and I know dozens of people over the years I have steered to Sweet-Vapes with recommendations that still vape today after trying high maintenance difficult to understand equipment. Its a hot button topic for me. If someone wants to sub ohm cloud chase safely in private that is their prerogative but to do it in public to me is no different than someone smoking pot in public while screaming for legalization. If vaping is perceived by the masses as ANYTHING but a smoking cessation technique then we will ultimately be the losers of this fight.
  8. Bebop I have an opinion and it is based on a few conversations on Facebook and other venues but when the forum was in its original form when I joined the VT store existed but the forum was very separate or at least it felt that way. I think there for a while there was such a push to get people to buy from the VT store the forum seemingly turned into an advertisement. I post more sporadically because the new format on mobile is way less user friendly and lack of activity breeds lack of activity. Even myself who is somewhat active have backed away some largely because I can check the forum every 3 days and stay caught up from lack of activity. We used to have a lot of activity and open discussions BUT I think now many are afraid or feel bad about offering advice (especially about vendors) because we love Chris and Comp so much we do not want to steer people in different directions even if we feel in their best interest (more VT store not Fadora have never had anything less than stellar experiences there). Personally I have had "not great" experiences with the VT store and I wonder if that is the norm and it has pushed some away. Chris and I have talked a lot about this. I miss the banter with Troy and others that were always around to make me laugh or smile throughout the day. As far as vaping goes most everything has passed me by lol. I rarely have anything to add. I can only say "Personally I prefer a Davide tank with KPT single coil at low wattage and 1.8ohm" so many times when a noob is wanting to vape at 50w and .3ohms.
  9. I may order a small sample of 12 and have my wife do what I did to her when she switched from 24 to 18. Fill 3 tanks, 2 with 12 and one with 18 but not tell me which is which or when she does it and see if I can tell a difference. She never fills tanks though so I may have to train her first haha. I am just curious. I could care less about the nicotine and feel no ill effects whatsoever and I go to bed with my IStick and 18mg and puff till I fall asleep, even take a drag or two if I wake up to pee, but I know less nicotine would be better thinking big picture. I just know myself and if I know it is 12mg I am going to find all sorts of differences whether real or fantasy lol.
  10. Yea I have made like 0 effort lol. I applaud peoples efforts to set new milestones and stuff I just was wondering if that is most peoples experiences. When I vaped 24mg I could fill a 2.5ml Davide Mini and last the whole day at work. with 18mg I use a 3mg Davide and fill it before work and by 4-5pm I am low enough I want to fill again so I keep a bottle of liquid at work. I would say I went from an average of 2.5-3ml a day to 4.5-5ml from 24mg to 18mg and have held at that for well over a year. In fairness I vape anywhere I want throughout the day with very few situations where it is not acceptable to vape. My wife uses less because she is front and center in her company and has to be selective where I am in my office and can do basically whatever I want lol. Its a legitimate question though. Even though I believe nicotine to be relatively harmless I cant help but wonder if 3ml of 24mg vs 5ml of 18mg, well how those two would compare with regards to nicotine absorption and consumption.
  11. You can do anything you want! I am not at the point where I want to step down but wish you the best of luck. I noticed about a 30% increase in the liquid I use when I stepped down from 24mg to 18mg about a year ago and the same held true for my wife when she made the change from 24 to 18 about 3 months ago I just ordered her third batch of 500ml in 18mg and that lasts about a month and a half as compared to just over 2 months in 24mg. My main question in dropping down is if we drop down 25% in nicotine level BUT vape 30% more....are we really dropping down? I'm not too worried about it personally my main reason to switch to 18 was the taste is SO MUCH better than 24 or I would still most likely be vaping 24. It took me forever to get my wife to understand it and now she loves the difference in taste of the 18mg she uses now.
  12. Wow this is a blast from the past lol. Amazing now I loathe PG and use "no PG added" liquids. Want no throat hit now.
  13. My favorite way to cook rabbit is to skin it and clean it, leave it whole and boil it for about an hour on high high heat in very salty water. Then I take it off and direct heat grill it until tender and basting with a good vinegar based sauce (I prefer Wickers). Man thats great. I would trade deer, bear and boar to have pheasant here!
  14. Being done = temp Being tender= The fat and connective tissues being rendered (melted) and absorbed into the muscle
  15. Jason I would argue that the best meat is walking around the woods waiting for my 50 cal sabot or 180 grain 30-06 to put it on the grill lol. A couple more months till that time though. Took me a while to sort through over 3000 pics on Facebook to find those pics haha.
  16. Notice how the bone is recessed in my first pic? Thats a great indication too of it being done. You can grab the bone and pull it out with 0 effort. And yea there is a million different ways to cook and no right or wrong BUT there are tried and true methods that have made my outdoor cooking much more enjoyable both for me and those eating it. Its like Ribs. In competition you should have a firm texture to your rib BUT I like my ribs literally falling off the bone which is a major points deduction in competition.
  17. Some of my favorite things: 1. Butt done and ready to serve 2. Filets and Corn on the boat 3. Whole Hens and a Butt (Yes I wrapped it the chickens needed more smoke and the butt was done lol) 4. Pork Tenderloin on the boat 5. Bacon Wrapped Dove smoked for an hour indirect heat then frilled on high heat to finish
  18. Just make sure the interior of the meat is at least 150 after a 5-10 minute rest and you are good. All the time is to make it pull apart tender. Its technically done and edible once it reaches the right internal temp but may be tough.
  19. If you are cooking at the proper temp (230-250) it will still be raw at 6 hours in the middle and about as tender as strap leather. This is my test. I stick a fork in one side then the other side. If the forks pick up the meat instead of tearing through its not done imo. If my temp gets above 240 then I spray my firebox to cool it back down, cooking at too high of a temp is about the worst thing you can do for a butt in my experience. In a perfect world my temp will fluctuate between 225 and 230 for 20-22 hours. Its a pain to get up every two hours throughout the night to check the temp but necessary if you are as OCD as me about stuff being perfect lol. Another thing I like to smoke is King Mackerel when I can get it fresh. Smoked fish dip on a cracker with a dab of Crystal Hot Sauce is hard to beat for an app!
  20. I like my sauce but for a bottled sauce I LOVE Famous Daves Sweet and Spicy. Its my "go to". Never entered rib or brisket but the comps here (I am talking mid 90s) usually only had rib, butt and half chicken. I suck at ribs lol but butt is my thing and chickens are fairly easy too just touchy.
  21. I use "Stubbs" rib rub on my butts I spice up with more garlic, cayenne and salt and pepper. See the above post about my drip pan method I use it has won my old team several trophies lol. The main thing is constant temperature and giving it time to get the nice rings and bark on the outside. I do not injection baste at all and use only the rub and apple slices on the butt for additional flavor. I like to use Shiner Bock, apples, oranges and just about any fruit juice you like in my infusion drip pan. In reality its all about the time and temperature. Even a completely unrubbed unseasoned butt will be awesome with the proper amount of smoke. Some people like to wrap theirs about 8 hours into cooking to not get it too smoky. I think that takes away from the bark (crust) that develops on the outside of the butt. I only use hickory or apple wood for smoke the first 7-8 hours of cooking then straight charcoal. Dont let the temp get above 250 or it will get tough and the bark will be too hard. I also cook the first 7-8 hours "skin side up" to allow the infusion from the drip pan to get into the meat I plan to eat PLUS it lets the rendered fat to drip down the meat sealing in your rub so when you flip it over to skin side down all you have to worry about is temp.
  22. When I am "really" cooking butts I usually put them on about 3pm the day before and keep my indirect heat as close to 230 as I can and let them go 20-22 hours. Usually that is around 70-80lbs of charcoal and quite a bit of hickory cut from my yard and I cure it myself. I prefer logs and sticks to chips. Usually I do 5 or 6 at a time because I only do it for "events" anymore. When I want to smoke a butt for a small gathering or to take somewhere and do not want to take the time I will cook it in the oven on 250 with a drip pan overnight then carefully put it on the smoker with heavy smoke for 4-5 hours. It doesnt get the beautiful rings and bark I like but works well and everyone seems to like it. Another trick is I keep a huge aluminum drip pan under the meat with apple juice, beer, apple slices, orange slices and other fruit based on how I feel and what I have on hand. Over the 20-22 hour cook time all the liquid evaporates and infuses the meat with the subtle flavor of the drip pans ingredients PLUS all the drippings are contained and easy to discard.
  23. I only use charcoal and hickory and apple wood to smoke meat and used to do it quite regularly before we got so into boating. Now I only do it a few times a year but used to do competitions. I am originally from Memphis area so smoking meat is something we grew up doing. I have never used an electric or gas smoker or grill, have always said I could do the same thing in the oven and have proven it several times lol. Two butts, side by side, mine in oven and others on electric smoker and those tasting could not tell us which was which lol.
  24. I am on a plan to becoming debt free in a lot of areas the next 7 years but just cannot bring myself to drive an older car. We bought an 09 with 75000 miles waiting on the new body style Yukon to come out when our last lease was up and it about killed us. It's the technology and comfort that I am a fan of plus I'm no mechanic and back in the day I got stranded too many times lol. When this lease is up we plan to take the plunge and buy our 15 Yukon and drive it till the wheels fall off it, by far the favorite of all we have driven. Just gonna have to force ourself to do it and I can cover it with warranty another 7 years at that point. I will continue to lease my daily driver as long as I can drive a $36k MSRP Terrain for $244 a month like now with all maintenance and full warranty for the entire term. To me that's a no brainier the way I think about things lol.
