  1. Posting a pic that is a close up of your base and coil will really help us trouble shoot it.
  2. Thanks Tam. It's not perfect but it'll do. You also have other factors involved. Low ohm coils tend to be larger wire, more surface area, more wicking and thus more juice to heat up. More wick and juice means more to heat up before vaporization takes place which means more power is needed. Plus, you have 3 interrelated parts - volts, watts, and amps describing that power. So it makes for a lot of head scratching!
  3. Morning Tam! I've had my first cup so I'll give it a shot. it's really just just a bit of a numbers game. Kind of like 30mph is too fast for a school zone but 30 on the freeway would be crawling. I thought of a good analogy (I think) which might help illustrate it. If you stood in front of a stereo speaker and turned the volume up to 3, you would think it was pretty loud (too hot). But, the guys in the back of the room would be saying "Crank it up!" It takes more power to deliver that same "volume" to the back of the room. So you think 3 is fine, but the guys in the back of the room need to have it on 7 to get the same perceived volume. Then you're left thinking how is that possible, 7 is way too loud. A high ohm coil (1.8ohm) sees 10 watts and goes, "no way, I'm not letting you through" and pushes back on that power and the result is heat. A low ohm coil (.3 ohm) sees 10 watts and offers very little resistance "go right on through, boys" and without that resistance creates almost no heat. So, more power is needed to heat up that .3 coil. It doesn't start pushing back on that power until the power reaches 40watts. Then it starts going "hold on, boys" and produces heat. The perceived heat could be lower at 40 watts than 10 watts on a high coil.
  4. Oh yeah, baby. Looks good. I roasted the turkey this year using a Gordon Ramsey recipe. People say it looks awesome. (It is ☺) Certainly smells great.....
  5. I am sucking down a caramel vanilla from a local B&M today in my Zephyrus. Lots of cloudy deliciousness. When I first started vaping I wasn't too fond of vanillas and caramel flavors but they have moved up to the front of the line. I will probably rock this all day today.
  6. Yeah. In California that will make the cost of a pack if ciggys around $8. Although, Im sure you can find those ciggys that I don't know where they come from for cheaper. Like dollar store ciggys or whatever. Whatever it takes to keep sending them our way, I guess.
  7. I use LGs or Samsung exclusively and have never had any issues with them.
  8. I follow a simple rule for myself. I don't vape anything that I have any kind of reaction to.....even if that reaction is "huh...this doesn't taste right".
  9. "Anything not sold in combination with e-liquid" is exempt! That is good. And better than I had hoped for. Sent from my LG-D851 using The Vapor Talk mobile app
  10. Well, some good news in there. No tax on most of the gear I buy. That's good.
  11. 4 years in April for me. Loving it and time has flown by. 4 years ago if you had asked me I probably would have said I'd smoke myself to death. Thank the gods for the vaping miracle.
  12. Sadly, I have paid forward ALL of my early tanks. Love the nostagia, though. Makes me long for that iClear 30 and mouthwatering, diacetyl loaded cafe mocha. Those were the days...
  13. I was cracking up doing my research before the elections on prop 64. It was by far, the largest portion of the booklet released on Cal propositions. I guess the funny part was trying to imagine a bunch of stoners trying to read thru it. Who am I kidding, they probably didnt read past the title of the proposition. I did find the significant problems Colorado faced/is facing to be noteworthy. It's interesting that medical approval leads to legalization. Something like 6% of medical use accounted for cancer patients and glaucoma patients. The other 94% were prescribed for "pain" with the profile of the average medical user being a 31yr old male with "pain", lol. Humorous now, I suppose, but I'm not looking forward to the problems and tragedy we are facing with intoxicated drivers, increased crime etc. I thought one of the fsscinating aspects isthat it is entirely a cash business and because it is still illegal federally, these businesses cannot use regular banking channels from what will be a multi-billion dollar business! These guys in Colorado are actually burying their cash in the ground, lol. They have to ferry thousands of dollars cash a day to undisclosed locations. I hope I never get caught up in that mess. Yikes. If Northern Cal bay area is anything like Denver Metropolitan area we'll have 3 times the business here. Anyway...I forgot about the April start date on Tobacco taxes. I guess we'll have to wait til then to see what kind of monkey business we are in store for there...
  14. Side bar: how ironic is it that California legalizes the weed but then passes 56 "in the interest of health" which adds $2 a pack to ciggy prices and an undetermined amount to ejuice....hmmm And, on to my question... Has anyone been to a B&M in california and does anyone have an idea how this affects ejuice prices locally? I haven't been yet so no clue... And, I'm really curious how this affects on line purchases, whether purchasing out-of-state products are affected. What about DIY nicotine products or other products tobbacky related? Has anyone from California seen any changes yet? ...you know, aside from that really strange smell coming from the neighbor's house...
  15. Yes. I have one and it does have ss mode,. Although I haven't used it with ss yet.
  16. The Tracer is a "subvod style" cylindrical variable voltage mod with I think, 2600mah battery and it will fire a sub ohm (less than 1.0 ohm) coil. Buttons are finicky on these mods. It may be dirty or have juice in the works that is making it stick. It could be a bad button. These buttons dont always last too long and since youve had it from feb, it could be at the end of it's life. I have never owned a Halo so I can't speak for it's quality. At $60 for mod and tank it may be slightly over priced for it's features.
  17. Welcome Hugh. And welcome to the smoke free club. ☺
  18. Have you matched your coil to the proper setting on your device? If you are using a TC coil then match the mode on your device to that coil. If you are using a regular coil set your device to wattage mode (not TC) and set your voltage to 3.7 (voltage, not wattage) and start there.
  19. Gee, Smack. I'm surprised you had so much trouble with the sub tank. It has tons of airflow, is easy to build on, never leaks and gives terrific flavor. It's a very popular tank among veteran vapers. A top seller since it came out.
  20. Nice job. It looks good! I think people who can cut their own hair rock. - that takes talent. I cut my own hair one time and the nice lady at supercuts yelled at me for half an hour!
  21. Nice. Love Alvarez. Here's a pic of the one I have.
