  1. Thought I'd start a new thread on this because I'm looking for specific info from you flavor wizards. im not looking for WHAT flavors you prefer, but what flavor SUPPLIERS you prefer. And I don't mean secondary suppliers but actual manufacturers of the flavoring. I think the main players are Capella, The Flavor Apprentice, Flavor West, and LorAnns. There may be some others. There seems to be quite a jump in price in Capella over the others. Is this a case of "you get what you pay for" or are they over priced? What manufacturers do you prefer and why? Please give details What have you noticed about the different manufacturers as to their quality, or consistency? If you have preferences like "company A has the best banana" or "company A has the better flavor but you need more of it" or "company A tends to be more sweet" etc, I would like to know those details. Are there any manufacturers that you just don't like? Why? Do you find that even though you have picked a flavor that should be "sweet" or is thought of as "sweet" that you have to add additional notes of basic flavors to achieve the flavor you are going for. For example, do you tend to stock a " sweetener" flavor or a "bakery/bread flavor" or a butter/cream" flavor separate from you other flavors to enhance them.? What are you "staples" - flavors added to other flavors to enhance or improve them? Geez, I know am asking a lot. Lol, Please contribute to the best of your ability. I realize this is probably just as subjective as flavors themselves. So feel free to just voice your findings even if you feel they may conflict with what other DIYers have said. This is an open discussion designed to be full of opinion. So let it fly! Also, feel free to add any points I may not have covered or asked for. Thanks!!!
  2. I hate to be contrary. I really do. It's a bit of a mystery to me , as well, that you've had trouble with Kanger stuff. Like earthling I have used Kanger products pretty regularly for close to 4 years and I have to say they have been as close to trouble-free as you can get. Sorry you're having so much trouble.
  3. That right there, is funny.
  4. You may need to drop the nicotine down a little. Nicotine can be a little harsh with higher power devices. If you are used to 12 you may find 6 is enough. Someone here that has the aio can tell you about the drip tip (mouthpiece)
  5. ELeaf iStick TC40W. (2600mah) or TC80W (5000mah) If you want internal battery.
  6. You would probably want the 40watt iStick minimum if you are going to replace it.
  7. Well if that's true then likely you have a device that won't fire a coil that low.
  8. Hmmmmm......that's unusual. You're absolutely sure that is as high as it goes?
  9. If you raise the wattage as high as it will go (without firing it) what does it say?
  10. When i bought my kanger sub tank minis some 2 years ago they came with RBA decks which I use almost exclusively. Shortly after that I bought about 4 or 5 back up decks. I'm still using the originals and they are going strong. But all the original materials are still available today. I don't think there's much risk with name brand popular devices. If the whole thing collapsed tomorrow I'd still be able to vape for years to come!
  11. They both appear to be kanthal coils so generally you'll vape with slightly higher wattage on the .3. The .3 will go through juice quicker. Your battery will run down noticeably faster on the .3. You should get more vapor on the .3. As for taste? That's pretty subjective.
  12. I agree with adversarious1. You mention "burning off stuff to clean it". Dry burning is tricky. If you aren't absolutely careful with it and you don't clean the coil (or aren't able to clean it thoroughly after dry burning) it always gives a funky taste. You have to get rid of any residue at all, which is hard to do. I've done dry burning very lightly in a pinch, but I don't recommend it and I only do it once on a coil. Nothing beats fresh wire and cotton. If your just replacing cotton in a used coil, you are likely getting that residue on the fresh cotton and that is what you are tasting.
  13. Yeah baby.... I'd say today is turning out pretty sweet...hehe.
  14. If you let that sucker go red hot you are guaranteed to burn your cotton. Replace your cotton
  15. If I could remember how old I am I'd be happy to you.
  16. Yeah the button is the only gripe I have with the Heatvape. But that's the price you pay for a nearly indestructible mod, I guess. I love mine too. Tell me do the new ones have a wider range of TC capability? Or still just Ni200?
  17. Im only basing the following opinion on what I know about notch coils. Ive never used them. They are designed for high flow of juice and have more surface area. They are also designed for a quick ramp up of heat. Guess what. Combine those two principles and you have a recipe for spitting. So overwicking could be a factor. But overwicking isn't necessarily a bad thing unless you are underpowered or not enough airflow. Underpowered it may just boil the juice and not immediate vaporize it With enough power and great airflow it should handle overwicking. Having enough airflow is key to producing vapor. You might try ramping up the power but also really pulling harder on that to increase your airflow. It might seem counterintuitive to pull harder on the coil that's spitting but it might work. Just be careful. Try using a drip tip with a screen if necessary. Just a few ideas.
  18. Fair enough. Juices can vary so widely - the contents of which vary brand to brand - it can still be a factor in spitting or popping. I've never used the notch coil so I can't speak to that.
  19. Yeah, that's my guess too. It's the pg content. Below .5 ohms, subohmers tend to use max vg juices. It could be the particular flavorings used too which are likely to be pg based.
  20. Sad to say, you can't trust mainstream media like this report. Even though this report is dated 6 oct 2016, do you notice that they don't cite when the study was done? This report is based on "old" research done years ago which has long since been debunked. For example, they stated that formaldehyde was formed by "high wattage" devices. What they don't tell you is that it was discovered that they jacked the wattage up in testing far higher than a normal device was even capable of producing. This was debunked a couple of few years ago. They are very clever in their language - they say things like "strawberry flavors were the most toxic" but they don't give you any numbers to compare with. Interesting right? Why don't they report the numbers? Because "more toxic" gets you scared and them off the hook for saying something of any substance. In all likelihood, strawberry flavors are insignificantly more toxic than any other flavors. And don't forget, terms like "toxic" are relative terms. These kinds of reports are not meant to be informative from any objective point of view. These are propaganda reports designed to scare you away from THE BEST ALTERNATIVE to smoking ever invented and have you running back to big Pharma for patches or pills. Your health is not their interest. Your wallet is, and damn your health.
  21. What's interesting to me is that we know what factors contribute to a successful coil. As Rich has mentioned the key points - Airflow, coil position, and wicking. But that it seems to differ between tanks is a bit of a mystery to me. All coils operate on the same basic principles. But it seems funny that the tiny difference in airflow between tanks, or the length of a chimney, or that the coil sits a tiny bit further from the air source in one tank or another vs the other makes enough difference to be able to perceive that difference is kind of amazing.
  22. @Earthling789Not to derail this thread - and maybe we should start another one - but that phenomenon of juice tasting different in different tanks is something I haven't quite figured out yet. I've noticed it too. And you get those differences in sometines seemingly similar set ups or tanks. It goes to show how the subtlest of differences can mean the difference between blah and complete satisfaction. I'm still puzzled by why it can be so different.
