  2. What is the difference between a cartomizer and an atomizer? Well an atomizer is meant to be re used and it’s two pieces. One piece is the atomizer, the other is the cartridge that holds the filler. (Though, most just drip liquid right into the atomizer as the filler doesn’t work well) An atomizer can be used for about a month or so. A cartomizer on the other hand contains the cartridge and atomizer all in one. Thus the name CARTomizer. Clever. The advantage to a cartomizer is the ability to add much more liquid, only having to fill every hour or more. The down side is that a cartomizer will only last about 3-4 days at most.   3. I think the question is better asked, is E Liquid safe. The short answer? Nobody really knows. The thing is, cigarettes are so bad that smoking a rolled up dirty newspaper is probably safer than smoking a cigarette. In that respect ecigs probably are better. If nobody knows then why are suppliers selling them? Well in my opinion it’s a step in the right direction. Currently the only alternatives to nicotine on the market are patches and gums. And if your a smoker, like I was, we all know it doesn’t always work in our favor. In my case neither worked at all. It’s been a shock and surprise for ecig users to find that almost every country and government agency is trying their hardest to bury this new technology. (Though the United States and United Kingdom citizens have fought her to defend their right to vape, so far so good) After years of searching and looking for an alternative and even joking “if there is ever a safer alternative that’s one thing but for now this is all we have” bang, out comes electronic cigarettes only to be pushed aside like a stray animal. Amazing isn’t it? So what exactly is inside E Liquid? Well the most popular manufacture in China (DK) gives the following ingredients: 1. Propylene glycol About 80% 2. Tobacco Essential Oil Less than 5% 3. Tobacco Absolute Virginia Less than 5% 4. Tobacco Absolute, Burly Less than 5% 5. Nicotine (From Tobacco Leaf) 1-3.6% 6. 2, 3, 5 Trimethylpyrazine Less than 1% 7. 2, 3 Dimethylpyrazine Less than 1% 8. 2, 5 Dimethylpyrazine Less than 1% 9. 2, Ethylpyrazine Less than 1% The FDA tested E Liquid and found it to be unsafe however companies questioned their testing and we’re all still waiting for the results to be published not only on their findings but their form of method. Not to long ago popular ecig vendor Totally Wicked did their own testing on Chinese E Liquid. Many vendors all purchase their liquid from the same source. The study can be found: Here But for now it’s up to the consumer to make the decision to vape and weigh out the pros and cons. What about the factory, is it sanitary? Well lets take a look at our friend Leaford who actually flew over to DK in China. You can see the logo in the video.
  4. A question often asked is whether or not you can charge your 510 battery on your eGo charger. Similarly asked is whether or not you can charge your eGo battery on a 510 charger. After all the both look the same! While they look similar the internals are not the same. So the answer is no..sort of. You can charge an eGo battery on a 510 charger but not the other way around. The eGo USB charger is a rapid charger designed to quickly charge the large ego battery in about an hour or so. The 510 standard battery simply can’t handle the current. You potentially risk damaging your battery. On the other hand you can charge your ego on a 510 USB charger – it’s going to take much longer. Happy vaping!
  5. There are three possible base carrier liquids in use for e-liquid (the refill liquid used in electronic cigarettes): PG, VG, and PEG. PG is the most common, usually with a proportion of VG as that produces more vapor. PEG is more common in pre-filled cartomizers. 1. PG or propylene glycol or propane-1,2, diol PG is the most common refill liquid base material, normally used with 10% to 30% VG. It is virtually inert in the body and can even be injected into the bloodstream without effect (and it is: it is the carrier liquid for drugs like diazepam that don’t mix with water). It is a powerful bactericide and virucide, and has been used in hospital air spray projects. There is a vast body of research on it going back 70 years that proves it is safe in any reasonable quantity. PG is usually the main constituent in disco fog machines. Due to strict employee health regulations that cannot be subverted, it is approved as safe for extended exposure for employees in discos, bars and theatres. Because it is made from non-organic sources (via chemical processes) allergies are not reported. It presents flavors well and has the best TH of the three choices. 2. VG or vegetable glycerine or glycerol or propane-1,2,3, triol VG is an alternative carrier liquid, though more commonly used as an additive to PG liquids. It is more viscous (thick) than PG. If used as the sole base material, it will need diluting with 10% – 20% DW (distilled water). Other additions seen include alcohol and EM (ethyl maltol). There is little research on inhalation. It is thought to be less inert than PG, and to be treated by the body as a complex carbohydrate – that is, metabolized by being broken down into carbohydrates and/or excreted. VG can be synthesized and made in a similar way to PG and PEG, from other chemicals, or it can be made from vegetable sources – mainly coconut oil and palm oil. For this reason there are a very small number of people who may have an allergy to a specific brand, of the same type of allergy as that to peanuts. Because it does not have the same bactericidal action as PG, preservatives such as sulphites may be added to it to prevent deterioration; therefore, there are questions such as: are the additives the cause of ‘allergies’, or indeed whether VG with additives should be used for inhalation. It produces more vapor than PG. It produces less TH and does not present flavors as well. 3. PEG or polyethylene glycol PEG is the least common carrier liquid. It can be made in many different formulations, the one used for e-liquid is called PEG400. This formulation appears to be chosen as it has the right viscosity, as it can be thinner, thicker, or even in the form of a wax. As far as we know there is little research but it cannot be toxic as it is used in foods and medicines. It is said to present flavors better than any other base liquid. Because it handles flavors so well it is used by several of the major cartomizer-only (2-piece ecig) firms that mainly sell to first-time buyers, as it works well in cartos. We think it comprises 1% or less of bottled eliquid volume but it is far higher in the pre-filled carto market – perhaps as much as 33%. PEG is the most likely of all the three base materials to be contaminated with DEG as the manufacturing process can be carried out using the same equipment, so there is a risk of cross-contamination. Uses All these base liquids are used in medicinal preparations of one sort or another, and are considered non-toxic. They are all used in foods, skin creams and some (if not all) in medical inhalers, so any MSDS warnings can be completely ignored. PG for example is used as the mist carrier in nebulizers for lung transplant patients, so it can be assumed that it is as inert as it is possible for a material to be that is not water. They can be used (especially PG) to make antifreeze or to make it less toxic – for example, to make it less dangerous to livestock or pets, and for winterizing boat and RV lavatory systems that may have human contact by touch or inhalation. PG is used for this purpose because it has a very low freezing point, is non-toxic, and is relatively cheap. There is an important question about safety concerning VG, that does not affect the other two liquids: if taken to over its boiling point it can degrade into acrolein, which is poisonous. However all tests so far indicate that for some reason this does not happen in an e-cigarette although theoretically it might. Acrolein was not detected in tests carried out by Intellicig even when the temperature was raised higher than normal. This may be because the addition of other ingredients such as water changes the boiling point enough that acrolein is not created, and/or due to the fact that if the temperature within an atomizer can rise sufficiently high to produce acrolein, then there is no liquid left to convert. Acrolein apparently has a strong, characteristic odor so it would be noticed in any case. We know less about PEG although it seems, so far, to be inert in the body. DEG Diethylene glycol is a poison that kills by damaging the liver and kidneys among other effects. It is very similar to PG and PEG in appearance, taste and characteristics, and it is produced in the same way from similar raw materials and as a by-product of similar manufacturing processes, although PEG seems especially implicated. It is therefore likely to be found in any materials of this type due to poor manufacturing controls or cross-contamination – for example, using drums for PEG400 that previously contained DEG. For this reason it is the main contaminant that should be tested for. Because PEG is more likely than the others to be contaminated with DEG, and because pre-filled cartomizers are the main area of use for PEG, it follows that such cartos need testing more than other materials. The FDA was formed in 1938 as a direct result of a wide-scale poisoning incident in 1937 in which more than a hundred people died after DEG was used in a medicine.   6. Credit to: ECF Author: Kurt (ECF Member) As a professional chemist, I would recommend storing long term in glass. Nic in high concentration will slowly dissolve plastic, and PG will leach plasticizers from plastic. VG might too. Sun’s fridge issues were with flavored juices stored six months, some of which were not even opened. I believe they were early Johnson Creek. The culprit was probably water in the JC recipe. I think decomp would have happened anyway, regardless. I do not think it was necessarily the fridge itself. A sealed glass bottle of unflavored nic juice will not allow water in. The only reactant here is O2, which if there is little head room is negligible. O2 is very slightly soluble in PG or VG, and will be present in trace quantities in the solution no matter what you do, but it is not enough to make any appreciable change in 100 mg juice, even if it all reacts. I use glass bottles from specialtybottles.com for storage of my unflavored 35-100 mg VG nic juice. The ones with eurodropper inserts, since I use them for syringe dispensing. Just stick an 18 gauge blunt needle through the center hole. With these inserts, accidental spill, which is a DISASTER with 100 mg juice, is eliminated. I use 50 mL bottles (although given how fast I go through them, I should have used 30 mL), fill them almost to the rim, put in the insert and screw on the cap. I store them in the freezer. As long as they are brought to room temp before opening them, the liquid will not absorb much water from the air. I pull out one bottle at a time for juice making. I just pulled out a 100 mg VG bottle stored since January, and it has not even discolored compared to the original very slightly yellow, as in VERY slightly yellow. In my freezer, PG and VG do not freeze (I have some DV PG juice stored too), nor do they expand. VG becomes VERY thick, like rubber cement at the temp of my freezer. I have not tested for nic content, but the juices I make now are in my opinion no less potent than when I got the juice fresh. Cool, dark, and dry is appropriate for a bottle opened and being actively used for DIY. Sealed is sealed, and extreme cold almost eliminates the kinetics of any O2 reactions and mold or bacteria growth, which is also almost eliminated by nic itself, PG or VG. I keep many 50 mL bottles in a sealed container in the freezer (actually a pet food container). From what I know about these chemicals, I expect the juice to last certainly much much longer than 24 months, and probably many years. This long term storage is for unflavored, and undiluted nic-juice only. I do not store flavored DIYs this way. I make them in relatively small quantities and vape them up before making more. Flavors are probably the most unstable part of e-juice, and the presence of water in them will hasten their decomposition into nasty tasting products. Fridge cold does not really change this a lot, it is dependent on the flavor itself. Fruits are especially prone, since they are esters that tend to hydrolyze to organic acids (sour, vinegar, vomit taste) and organic alcohols (wet-dog, funky taste). Even unfrozen, liquid PG nic-juice in the freezer will still have slower reaction kinetics than room temperature liquid. Increased viscosity, such as VG nic-juice, will further lower kinetics of reactions of nic with O2: the molecules do not move around much to find each other. But all reactions slow down with cold regardless of viscosity changes. The fact that neither of these liquids freeze solid in the freezer is good. Solid is chrystalline, and is generally not the same composition as the liquid, in other words, freezing solid will promote separations…although after it melts to room temp, it can be mixed back to original uniform composition. Is freezer storage overkill? Maybe. As I said, sealed is sealed, and the total reactions possible if its sealed are low. But I get a singular pleasure from taking one of those 50 mL bottles out, knowing it will be as fresh and potent as the day I bought it, even years down the line. Based on my decades of chemical knowledge, I do honestly think this is the best option for long-term unflavored nic-juice storage.

VAPOR TEST RESULTS BY KOREA ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE ASSOCIATION The Korea Electronic Cigarette Association (KECA) ordered a test on the vapor produced by an electronic cigarette versus the smoke of a cigarette. In Korea, there have been so many incorrect reports and misinformation about electronic cigarettes. They conducted the test to prove that cigarettes are more harmful than e-cigarettes. The KECA website shows the processes of the test. What was tested: inhaled smoke. How: By a scientific machine that reads the inhaled components. Tested method: assuming 8 puffs per 1 cigarette VS 8 puffs on an e-cigarette, repeated 16 times and 24 times. Condition: 8 puffs per 1 cigarette for a total of 40 cigarettes/e-cigarettes compared resulting in the below detected components and their percentage. Results: Click Here
  8. She's a cutie. And yes I do have a Maltese. 6'1 and just over 215lbs that's the dog I end up with Her names is Pink. She subsequently got the name after some medicine she was given as a pup. It stained her face for about a week. I actually inherited her when the previous owners realized they didn't have the time. Loyal dog and great around the kids. (Tamed kids anyway)

  12. Forever! I think a little sin in your life probably isn't bad. More importantly I think keeping the level of nicotine in check is probably most important. So long as you're living a reasonably healthy life style I don't see vaping having any long term negative effects. The end of this year will mark 4 years of vaping for me
  13. It does make a difference. The strong voltage makes a strong vape. Most of the staff and vets use higher voltage
  14. Not sure honestly. To much work, stress, loosing it. I've had 4 this month. Still waiting to get into the Neurologist. With no insurance and having to pay out of pocked I'm slow boating everything right now and just trying to be careful.
  15. When I used to work Corporate I was able to move up faster simply due to conversations started with smoking.

While I would probably opt to get this shot after it was proven safe, I have to agree with Eonloo, for most of us there is something relaxing about taking a puff and slowing letting the vaper roll off your lips. The act of slowing inhaling itself is relaxing. It's almost a ritual when you think about it after a long day.

  18. I've demoed and used a lot of e Pipes and I have to say for the most part they're crap. Not trying to knock anyone else that uses them but they're good only for very light vaping. They fall apart quite quickly. I actually did a review on the 601 a couple years back you can dig up on Youtube.   19. Life really is a delicate thing. I think sometimes we get caught up in our daily routines and forget how amazing and short it really is. My sympathies to those that have and will leave us early than they should.
  20. Ok so being on and off bed rest I've been reading a lot. I browse Reddit often and a topic came up that I thought I'd start here. What is the most heartbreaking thing you've personally witnessed? Here is a story below that I read, pretty sad. ***** ****, ok here shows my age, but as the cool kids say, whatever. Back in about 1992, I was walking to a friend's place, when with no tire scream, there's a horrific car crash. I ran over to see a car had t-barred another at a roundabout. (Canberra is full of them). Seeing as it was about 1am, and at the time this being nothing more than a sleepy hollow, a few people came out to investigate. At this point, my St. Johns training kicked in and I told someone to go call an ambulance. The situation is thus: the driver who rammed the other car smells like a brewery, and is dead. He's also the driver who caused the accident by pushing through the roundabout. I get to the other car, and there's a girl, she's pretty messed up. The steering column has punched her in the chest, there's blood everywhere, there are no crumple zones so her own car is smooshed against her. I tell her that I know first aid, and that I'm not trying to grope her as a joke - trying to figure out the extent of her ijuries. But I can feel all her ribs on her left side ****** up, and even at the lightest tough, she's hurting. So I start talking to her, saying everything's alright, well it's not, but the ambulance is coming, and start making ****ty jokes at her to keep her awake. Then I hear the ambulance in the distance, and tell her she's gonna be alright. She looks me in the eye, and says, "Why didn't I meet you earlier?" and dies. Turns out, thirty seconds can be an eternity.

  22. That is the correct charger. Don't let the mah confuse you. So long as you use an eGo battery with an eGo charger you're good to go. The mah doesn't make a difference in this case. The exploding issue is less with mainstream e cigarettes. It's more of an issue with the custom mods. And on THAT note it's usually because the user is using the incorrect battery inside the mod or charging a battery in the wrong charger. (stand alone batteries) The eGo batteries have protection systems built into them to prevent things like this from happening. That isn't usually the case with standalone batteries. (See picture below) You can use your eGO without fear. (or KGO, Riva etc for that matter)
