  1. This is from KDmickey on ecigforum ..I really take the FDA issue seriously, and I would appreciate some help from all of you in addressing this issue. I sent this to Dr. Nitzkin of the American Association of Public Health Physicians. The e-mail goes as follows. A few hours later, I received this reply: Still later, Dr. Nitzkin sent me a copy of the fax going to the senator wanting to outlaw e-cigarettes: This is some positive news guys!

  4. Well I think of it this way, if I purchase the liquid and then can no longer sell it, at least I can vape my happy *** for a few years to come. But your right this threat is much more serious than the previous ones we have seen. Those are three big names, and three very powerful names. I doubt they have done any research at all into e-cigs
  5. well this just keeps getting better and better. Thanks for the research vacker, this really is the last thing I want to read when I'm about to purchase a crap ton of liquid

  7. Yes please do send this letter! Puente I think I know what your talking about, I was reading some copyright information and there was a device that was released years ago that tried to imitate cigarette smoking. I think it was large and perhaps a little ahead of its time. It really is sad to see how the country is turning out, however if we can get this turned around, then parhaps not all is dead
  8. A member named Kamanjah from ecig forum wrote this amazing letter to the senator. (By the way I just sent him an email myself. This will mark the first time I've ever contacted a senator:)) "I realize you are anti-smoking and have worked to ban cigarettes in many areas. Smoking is bad for one's health, with over 4000 nasty things being inhaled from a lit cigarette. However, if you succeed in getting electronic cigarettes banned, you will be driving thousands of e-cigarette users back to smoking tobacco. I am sure you are aware of the contents of the liquids used in e-cigarettes: propylene glycol, flavorings and nicotine. Nicotine is not a known carcinogen. Propylene glycol vapor was studied in the 1940s and deemed safe, and it was also discovered that it kills bacteria and viruses. This important health property was also shown in recent studies conducted in New Zealand. NASA has also studied PG vapor and cite one study where monkeys were exposed to PG vapor for 12+ months and showed no adverse effects or biological changes. You can find their report summary at Spacecraft Maximum Allowable Concentrations for Selected Airborne Contaminants: Volume 5 and download the chapter as a pdf file by simply signing in. PG is a common ingredient in many prescription medications and is the sole ingredient of Rhinaris Nasal Spray, which is sold over the counter. The e-cigarette device itself is simply a vaporizer. Wouldn't it be more proactive to enlist existing e-cigarette users (note, we are not smokers any longer) into a clinical study instead of driving us back to smoking burning tobacco? Using nicotine in vapor form simply has to be less harmful than lighting up. I would certainly volunteer to be part of a study. Unlike many drugs the FDA has approved, I feel the vapor from e-cigarettes will prove to have few side effects. Take Vioxx and Bextra for example. They received FDA approval and were subsequently pulled from the market due to deaths they caused. There are no known reports of deaths from use of the e-cigarette. A few people have reported allergies, however allergies are a very common side effect to many drugs, both prescription and OTC. So, if I can get nicotine in patch, gum or inhaler form, and PG in a nose spray, why shouldn't I be able to use the two ingredients mixed together to vaporize when I choose? Please rethink your request to the FDA to ban electronic cigarettes. I haven't smoked a cigarette in 67 days, and have no desire to ever smoke one again. If I have the right to choose to smoke tobacco, I certainly should have the right to choose to use an electronic cigarette, which I prefer to call a personal vaporizer, instead of tobacco. Respectfully Submitted,"
  9. It's the request that scares me, it could just be a start. Then before you know the FDA is pulling these. I know that senator Rep. Cliff Stearns is an E Smoker. (Florida) and I'm aware of the CA Senator as well can't remember is name, it was on a thread over there I think. EDIT: Here is a link to contact the senator, let's send him some emails! Heck invite him on the board http://lautenberg.senate.gov/contact/index1.cfm
  10. I just found this over on ecig forum. Not good guys not good... Senator seeks to halt sales of 'e-cigarettes' By KIMBERLY HEFLING Associated Press Writer Posted: 03/23/2009 12:27:29 AM PDT WASHINGTON—A senator is asking the government to prevent the sale of so-called "electronic cigarettes" until more is known about them. E-cigarettes are marketed as a healthier alternative to smoking and as a way to kick the habit. They are smokeless and battery-powered, releasing a nicotine vapor into the lungs. New Jersey Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg sent the Food and Drug Administration a letter Monday saying that the agency should ensure e-cigarettes are not sold until they've been studied more. An FDA spokeswoman says the agency will respond directly to the senator regarding his concerns. I would post the news link however the page is down. You can read more from this ******* right from his website: http://lautenberg.senate.gov/newsroom/reco...?id=310318& Payoff anyone?
  11. hmm strange. Oh well you have the new account now
  12. ha ha gotcha What happend Sekret did you forget your old password?
  13. Not sure I get the humour, but yea that would make you feel pretty crappy
  14. Well you can do either. It's preference really. However I personally drop right onto the atomizer. This is said to wear our your atomizer faster, however this hasn't really been the case for me. Although I purchase about 1 atomizer a month just because I like a fresh atomizers
  15. YES! Much more cost effective, I forgot who but some figured that you can get about 200 carts from a 10ml bottle I think. Someone will have to search the forum and check that for me. A 30ML bottle costs about 20 bucks. That normally last me a whole month with no problem.
  16. That's not to bad. Most of us no longer use carts. We use bottled liquid and drop directly onto the atomizer. So for me it's hard to judge just how many carts I use. If I had to take a guess I'd say maybe 3?
  17. About 1-2 Years if kept in a cool dry place The chemicals are added later. There are a few reasons they add them, for example, ammonia (I believe) is added to help the nicotine burn efficiently. Most are unaware that nicotine does not burn well. So manufactures have to added various chemicals in order to aid in the process. In the state of California it's law that cigarettes manufactures add a fire retardant to the cigarette. This helps a cigarettes extinguish itself should a a smoker fall asleep etc. It also of course helps to prevent wildfires which is a known problem here.
  18. Wow interesting. I don't know if I would have been brave enough to try that...Then again I'm smoking E-Cigs I think the ability to inhale something is very important. It's just part of smoking. I think E Smokes are the closet thing to a replacement we will ever get. I like it better anyway
  19. I reassuring read... http://www.ashtrayblog.com/2009/03/is-nico...-dangerous.html
  20. Yea I would think so. Also I don't the atomizer would be in the Pepsi long enough to rust. Once it's dry I don't think there should be much worry about that at all. Good point though
  21. Gangs in Henderson? There is a local lodge that I attended out their and it's quite a nice town.
  22. Ok I can understand that especially speaking 3 different languages. So what is the closest translation?
  23. And would you care the share with the whole class just what that means?
  24. Since I discovered electronic cigarettes a couple of months ago, I have been quite intrigued by how they are sweeping the market and the number of brands entering the market. As can be expected a product which is so close to being a medicinal product / electronic gadget / tobacco product, authorities of countries aren’t quite sure how to deal with the e-cig. I compiled an overview of the legal status of the e-cigarette across countries worldwide. Remarkable is the difference between certain countries, ranging from a complete ban in countries such as Hong Kong and Singapore and completely no restrictions in countries like UK. My guess is that the FDA is currently reviewing e-cigs in the USA, so at the moment they’re completely legal but can’t be marketed as smoking cessation devices. Will be interesting to follow these developments and to see the results of the FDA testing of the e-cigarettes! If you have any updates on this list, please let me know and I will edit it! Just leave a comment on this post, thanks! Australia: the sale of e-cigarettes containing nicotine is illegal. Austria: e-cigarettes are considered to be medical devices, whereas nicotine cartridges are considered medicinal products. E-cigarettes therefore need to be CE-marked (as New Smoke is), and nicotine cartridges need to be registered as medicinal products before either can be sold. Canada: authorities are investigating whether or not electronic cigarettes can be used in areas with a smoking ban. Denmark: e-cigarettes are considered to be medical devices, whereas nicotine cartridges are considered medicinal products. E-cigarettes therefore need to be CE-marked (as New Smoke is), and nicotine cartridges need to be registered as medicinal products before either can be sold. Finland: e-cigarettes purchased from overseas is allowed given it is for personal use. The (intended) sale of nicotine cartridges is illegal. Hong Kong: possession or sale of electronic cigarettes is illegal. Jordan: electronic cigarettes are illegal Netherlands: the use of e-cigarettes is allowed, but advertising is forbidden. New Zealand: nicotine cartridges can only be sold as registered medicinal products. Singapore: possession or sale of electronic cigarettes is illegal. Thailand: possession or sale of electronic cigarettes is illegal. United Kingdom: unrestricted use of electronic cigarettes. United States: unrestricted use of electronic cigarettes. FDA is investigating whether the e-cigarette should be classified as a medical device. From: http://quit-smoking-cigs.com/
