Does Anyone Have Cruise E-Cig Experience?
Christopher replied to chrisahx's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Good topic. Both my wife and I cruise often. Royal Caribbean is our favorite, Regent cruise lines are also top notch. I vaped on Royal Caribbean and Carnival with no problem. I always go to the smoking side of the ship but I've never had any issue. Both times I took my Janty stick as I thought it looks a little better going through customs. I vaped on the deck and I vaped in my state room with no issues. I would stay away from the smoke alarm, but other than that your good to go! -
Sb400 Has Been Vetoed!
Christopher replied to Christopher's topic in Vaping Legislation & Regulation News
Interesting find. I'll get the research train going and so what I can dig up on this. I think perhaps it's time we started to email Ms.Corbett don't you? -
That is the women who created the SB400 bill. She wants Electronic Cigarettes banned.
-
For those of you that don't already know, SB400 WAS VETOED!!!!!! http://gov.ca.gov/index.php?/press-release/13564/ From Arnold: To the Members of the California State Senate: I am returning Senate Bill 400 without my signature. While I support restricting access of electronic cigarettes to children under the age of 18, I cannot sign a measure that also declares them a federally regulated drug when the matter is currently being decided through pending litigation. Items defined as “tobacco products” are legal for anyone over the age of 18. If adults want to purchase and consume these products with an understanding of the associated health risks, they should be able to do so unless and until federal law changes the legal status of these tobacco products. For this reason, I am unable to sign this bill. Sincerely, Arnold Schwarzenegger

And by that Jeso means many Ecig users started using passthroughs because not only did it give them a steady charge but also a higher voltage producing a better flavor and more vapor. (Running at around 5 volts) The passthroughs that contain the battery run only at 3.6volts or at the same volt level that most electronic cigarettes run.
-
Hmm I have not tried the manual version from China. In that case I'm sure it will last longer.
-
It's from China lol. Its crap only because it probably will only last about a couple months or so. It works like an automatic battery does. (or is it manual that you have?) Most are automatic and if liquid gets into the passthrough it will die the same way the auto bats do. They also tend to have a 3 seconds cut off. Though I have not tried the 510 passthrough so please correct me if I'm wrong.
-
Well we have done what we can. Today (hopefully) we will find out whether or not SB400 goes into law. If it is not vetoed today it will become law starting January 1st 2010. You can then bet your butt it will start rolling over to other states. If anyone gets info before me please post here with any information. Oh by the way it's this women who wants you smoking tradition tobacco: http://dist10.casen.govoffice.com/ (She created the SB400 Bill) Why not send her a nice Thank You letter, perhaps invite her to your funeral?
-
No not really. And to be honest those Chinese passthroughs are crap. It's why we don't talk about them much on the forum. BUT we will have something for review in a few weeks which I think will really bring light to the Passthrough world, I CAN"T WAIT to show you guys
-
Will be offering both Cola and Grape in the future Grape so far seems to be selling quite well but a little more time will tell. We also don't sweat the extra liquid (We're not cheap ) Glad you like the Grape Juice!

The battery is actually there for older computers. (although it will also hold a charge) Older computers where not designed for the amount of power a USB passthrough needs. For example if you take that battery off then plug it into an older computer you will get a "power surge warning" Jeso could actually really break it down for you. I'll email him this topic.
-
To be honest most of that was copy in paste, I suppose in order to figure out how much nicotine you where taking in you would have to find out how many drops are in a bottle. Then divide the nicotine content by those drops. Again though I'm not a scientist either. I remember reading on another forum that you take in much less nicotine from an ecig than you do from an analog.

Has Anyone Seen This "infomercial" E-Cig Yet?!
Christopher replied to fatalis's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Yup I've seen them before and THAT is why we are having so many issues with the FDA today. -
Why not use something like this for the car: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2366199

A very good topic to get started! The forums are usually slower on Saturday so that's probably why nobody as posted in the new forum yet Anyway, a manufactured cigarette actually contains about 10mg of nicotine, but only one or two milligrams is actually inhaled by the smoker. Let's break it down, in this case we will say the user is puffing on a 901... Average inhale time 3 seconds Volume of inhale 0.4-0.6L 'Air' Flow 10 litres / minute Approx. puffs / day 200 (10 puffs per cig. x 20 cigs) Approx. puffs / ml 2.5 ml is like 20 cigs. 10 puffs per cig so 200 puff / 2.5 ml So about 75 puff / ml Approx. drops / ml 20 drops / ml Approx puffs / drop 3-4 puffs per drop Approx ml / puff About 0.015 ml per puff ml the mesh can hold A standard (901) atty's mesh can hold about 6 drops That's about 0.2 ml ml / dripping top-up People will top-up when mesh is between half and fully depleted, and add about 3-5 drops; about 0.1-0.2 ml Dripping top-ups / day 15-25 ml / cart 901, 501 : 0.5 ml 301 : 0.3 ml 801 : 1 ml Cart refills / day A 901 cart holds about 0.5ml. Will need refilling after about 0.25-0.4 ml is used So about 7-12 times / day (each refilling being about 2 cigs equivalent of vaping) Puffs / cart About 50 Volume of inhale 0.05 - 0.1L. A 'lung inhale' rather than 'mouth inhale' would be 0.05-0.1L through the PV followed by a further 0.1-0.3L of air. Lung capacity. Total capacity of lungs: 5 - 6L; of which about 1.5L always remains inside after maximal exhale. When deep breathing, volume of inhale and exhale can be something like 2-3L. Normal breathing turns over about 5-10% of the air in the lungs: 0.25 - 0.5L. Battery capacity. Manufacturers are likely to provide a figure closer to total capacity than usable capacity (and that depends on current drain and pattern of use etc.). Not all the capacity can be used. I'd say it is reasonable to knock off a third of the stated capacity to get a truer real-life usable figure for vaping. 'Mini' (510, 901) battery capacity. So taking our 150 mAh battery and applying some reality will give us more like 100 mAh. Life of a 'mini' battery between charges Current will be over 1A (initially), let's call it 1A. So about 6 mins (360 sec.s). 5 second puffs: 75 puffs. 3 second puffs (more common): 120 puffs. Even these figures are 'at best' ones, assuming a new battery. 1A+ is somewhat over-spec for this size of battery, so will not last as long as expected (though this depends a bit on how much 'recovery time' the battery has between activations); the battery will really be struggling, get warm etc. So, real figures are more likely to be 5 second puffs: 50 3 second puffs: 80 between recharges. About 1/2 a pack of analogs equivalent. So the average person will need at least two batteries per day and use about 30 drops (1.5ml) per battery. A very light 'smoker' might get by on one. source* http://www.tji-java-ide.com/e-cigarette/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=175:technical-repository-facts-and-figures&catid=50:mod-basics&Itemid=69

You are correct it would be very easy to reproduce the atomizer here in the states, but China holds all the patents. Believe me they are not going to give them up any time soon. That's the reason you see custom battery units being created but not custom atomizers. It sucks I know, but it's all we have for now.
-
Just remember we love the 801 atomizer, BUT NOT THAT 801 KIT! When you hear us talking about the 801, we're talking about the 801 attached to a custom battery unit from http://www.vaprlife.com The 801 batteries tend to crap out pretty fast

My Tecc Discount Code Isn't Working! Anybody?
Christopher replied to fatalis's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Not something Vapor Talk can help you with. You will have to email them directly -
So let me get this part started. I have now created the Campaigning forum so to kick it off let talk about a bill thats in progress many of you may not know about. The PACT Act 2009 (cute name hu) From ecf here is some information: THE SITUATION: Right now there is legislation pending in the United States Senate - the Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking Act of 2009 (“PACT Act”) (S.1147) which contains, among otherbad ideas, a provision to make ALL cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products nonmailable. This legislation has already been passed by the House of Representatives and is currently in a Senate Committee that could send it to the Senate floor at any time for a vote! WHAT THIS MEANS TO YOU: By making all cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products nonmailable, the Senate is ensuring you will no longer be able to purchase these products by mail-order, telephone order, and/or the Internet because the United States Postal Service, along with UPS, Fed-Ex and all other carriers will be prohibited by law from delivering your orders to you. Taking away your options means forcing you back to buying over-priced tobacco products from your local retailer once again. WHAT YOU CAN DO: Contact your Senators and tell them not to pass the PACT Act. Your Senators should be protecting your interests, but it is up to you to let them know what you think about the PACT Act. There are three easy ways to contact your Senators - by telephone, email, or regular mail - all of which are explained below. Every state has two Senators - please remember to contact BOTH Senators for your state. At this point time is crucial, so a phone call is by far the best means to use! THE POSTAL SERVICE: The price of stamps is being raised practically every year. The PACT Act will take an entire class of legal, non-hazardous goods and make them nonmailable. What this means is a huge loss of business (potentially hundreds of millions of dollars) for the Postal Service. Will they continue to raise the price of stamps and other mail services to compensate for their lost income? The United States Postal Service is already suffering a fiscal crisis due to the downturn in the economy. If the PACT Act is passed and millions of dollars of revenue are taken away, there could be serious consequences for consumers, including reducing the number of delivery days from 6 per week down to 5 or perhaps only 4 days per week. COST: When the PACT Act of 2003 (S.1177) passed the Senate, the Congressional Budget Office prepared a Cost Estimate for the Bill. The Congressional Budget Office estimated that the PACT Act of 2003 would cost about $140 MILLION over the 2004-2008 period to enforce. $140 Million over four years - and that estimate is already six years old. How much will the PACT Act of 2009 cost to enforce? Isn’t there a better way to spend our tax dollars?

PG is recognized as general safe by the FDA. The bottom line however is that there are no long term studies done on the long term effects of PG. But I think common sense tells us it's safer than traditional tobacco. I find it humorous how health conscious everyone becomes when the quit smoking. 4000 chemicals and now your down to about 5. Studies have suggested that VG may be an even safer alternative. Again though, there are no long term studies done on the effects of inhaling VG either.
