  4. 1.) Dry Throat and / or Sore Throat - PG is a humectrant and when vaping the back of the throat gets coated. You can find that after sleeping, you wake up with a sore throat. Things that can help are drinking a glass of water before bed, gargling with a mouthwash to cut the PG coating before bed, drinking water throughout the day, using hard candies and drinking liquids with honey liquid thru the day to keep your mouth moist. 2.) Acne breakouts - Many e-smokers find that if they switch completely they experience small breakouts of acne. This seems to be a reaction to the body expelling toxins and is consistent with the symptoms found when quitting smoking. What else have folks experienced ? 3.) Hiccups - Hiccups are common among smokers and tobacco users. They're a result of swallowing nicotine. Hiccups are most common among those who use chewing tobacco, snus, dissolvable tobacco tablets. They swallow tobacco juice and hiccups can result. They are not common among pipe and cigar smokers, who neither swallow nor inhale smoke, or users of nasal snuff. If you tend to "gulp" your vapor or let it sit in your mouth and then inhale sharply - you're sending part of the inhalation to your stomach, part to your lungs. The stomach part produces hiccups from the nicotine you put there. 4.) Headaches, Nausea & Shakiness - These are common nicotine withdrawal symptoms. If you are using a low dose of nicotine and not taking in as much as when you normally smoked, you can experience these withdrawal symptoms. These withdrawal symptoms typically last only a few days to a week. 5.) Muscle Cramps and Aches - some people report increased muscle pains. The PG in most nicotine mixtures breaks down into Lactic Acid, which needs to be eliminated from the body. Increasing water intake usually addresses this problem. Not reported as much when using VG (vegetable glycerin) mixtures. 6.) Night Sweats - a few people have reported this and they have generally found out that they have an intolerance or allergic reaction to PG. There are a few pre-packaged liquids available with VG instead, but most people end up making their own liquid if they suspect a PG reaction. 7.) Diarrhea - this is another symptom that seems to be most commonly reported by people that have a reaction to PG and switching to VG seems to solve the problem. 8.) Coughing - this is very typical, and the severity and duration will depend on how heavy a smoker you were before switching, and how many real smokes you still have while e-smoking. Even when quitting smoking without using e-cigs, people find that their body starts coughing up all the junk they've been putting in - tars, chemicals, etc. When e-smoking, some folks find they start coughing up this junk within a week or two - some faster. The duration will vary, but most people were finding that the morning cough went away in the first week and the rest of the junk came up within the first month - but it's very common. 9.) Mouth Ulcers / Canker Sores - multiple folks have experienced this. Oral ulcers are a common result of ceased cigarette smoking, affecting about two out of five quitters. The nicotine being absorbed through your mouth can also exacerbate this, as folks using nicotine gum also have experienced these mouth sores. After you vap, drink something to rinse your mouth out. This will get the nic out of your mouth and not give it a chance to sit there and irritate your mouth tissue and cause a sore. 10.) Racing Pulse, Dizziness, Slurred Speech - these are very common with a nicotine overdose. Sometimes we overestimate just how much nicotine we were getting with regular cigarettes, and underestimate how much we are vaping - particularly at the beginning. Racing pulse is the most common, slurred speech less so - but usually too much nicotine. Try cutting down the dosage in your cartridges or liquids or vaping less frequently. However, some people experience this even with a low nicotine liquid and find that switching to Vegetable Glycerin (VG) solves their problems. 11.) Heartburn - some folks have reported heartburn / acid symptoms. Not enough information yet to guess why - but these symptoms seem to come after a couple of weeks of e-smoking and then go away again. Could just be an adjustment symptom, but users have reported it happening. ---- AND SOME GOOD "SYMPTOMS" ---- Since we don't want to focus on just the negatives, I wanted to put in some positive words from our experienced users. First, most people adjust in the first week to symptoms. Dry throat and sore throat are easily remedied, and things like headaches or gas tend to go away quickly. Sinuses clearing up - this is a wonderful thing when it starts happening. Your sense of smell starts to come back, stuffiness goes away, etc. You start noticing the smell of other people's smoke, or more subtle smells you've forgotten about as a smoker. The downside is you also start to smell the nastier smells too. Smoker's Morning Cough going away - most people find that the annoying first thing in the morning coughing session goes away. Depending on how bad that was for you as a smoker, this is a definite milestone. Deeper, Clear Breathing - as your body clears all the toxins away, you start breathing deeper. Some folks actually find they get dizzy initially, as they are taking in more oxygen. Many smokers actually breathe really shallow, especially if they've been smoking for a long while - so the change can be quite dramatic. Smoke Smell Begone - no more stale smoke smell in your hair, your clothes, your home, your car. Downside is once your sense of smell comes back, you're prone to go on a massive cleaning spree - especially if you smoked in your home because you suddenly realize how bad it smells. Taken From ECF
  5. I suppose in time this could become an issue, but bright lights and LED's are not very conspicuous. Most people are intrigued when they see the devices that Sean, Royce and I use. I think if some of the custom mods stopped using LEDs then it could become a problem as the unit looks like something a drug addict would use. Hence the reason I'm not a big fan of the prodigy. It just doesn't look like something that's built to be a tobacco alternative. It's something that given time and knowledge will have to become socially accepted. We as e smokers have a duty to make sure that we fulfill questions correctly and help promote social acceptance by being courteous to others and having a positive attitude when asked the same questions over and over. Right now we are setting the bar for social acceptance of these products although many of you may not resize it.
  6. First of all Niki welcome to the forums! Let's take a look at your issues I'm not a big fan of the KR series but they do work pretty well once you get them going. Where did you purchase yours from? The batteries on an ecig are lithium ion. They come 80% charged, you need to put them into the charger until they are 100%. (The light on the charger will turn green) They do NOT need to be charged for 8 hours. This was a misconception that started way back when that I just don't feel like typing out. It ended up making it into instruction manuals. Just ignore it, China doesn't know what it's talking about You are using what's called a Cartomizer model, the atomizer is built into each cart. You have to learn how to use an ecig, it doesn't work the way a normal "analog" does. Rather than take quick hard drags, try taking slower long drags (about 4 seconds worth) That should help you get more vapor. The draw on a cartomizer should feel like your taking soda from a straw. If the draw seems harder, then you have a dud cart. Don't forget to check out the noobie videos and the video review area which should help you out quite a bit Let me know if you have any other questions!
  7. I don't know much about it, but I do know that some people use it to clean their atomizers. I've also heard that if you use to much it will eat away at the glue around the bottom of a penstyle atomizer for example, and the whole thing will fall apart.
  8. Yea I would get the bare bones kit and purchase your atomizers from either Awesome Vapor when he gets them in stock or Dietsmokes. Perhaps some other members can chime in on what the thing are good penstyle atomizers?
  9. Yup I've had the same thing happen. I usually use a new mouth piece every week. Then I get that nice tight seal again.
  10. Well I can tell you he is right about the steamer. I used to have a steamer for my suits that I used and I tried it on my old atomizers. It worked pretty well, but my steamer broke Not looking to buy another one anytime soon.
  11. Vaprlife is going to be coming out with a passthrough that will cost around 50 bucks in the next week or so. You can purchase a cheaper passthrough from other suppliers that are made in china but they are crap. The Puresmoker and Vaprlife passthroughs are made here in the states, so it's going to last you a very long time. The vaprlife passthrough will come with an adapter so you can vape it by plugging it either into a wall socket OR the computer as well as a stand that comes with it to hold your juice and your passthrough when your not using it. Pretty cool actually. It also comes with a built in fuse so you don't have to worry about shorting out your laptop. (Some of the passthroughs from China do not have any protection built in, so if an atomizer shorts out, there goes your computer) Most of the Chinese passthroughs run at 3.7 volts because they have a battery inside of them.
  12. I haven't used my PPC in a while but normally I'll charge one battery while I'm using another then switch it out. That's just the way it is with the Joye510, the thing is you get great amounts of Vapor from such a little unit, but in return you have to accept the crappy battery life. If you want something with long battery life your going to have to switch over to something like the Janty Stick or the VP units.
  13. If you know your going to be habit vaping in front of the computer, try to step it down to 16mg or lower. Also have a look at "Common Symptoms When Vaping" in our info area: http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/index.php?app=custompages&do=show&pageId=3 That should help you become more aware of nicotine overdose symptoms.
  14. Sure do, here you go http://www.amazon.com/Professional-Ultrasonic-Jewelry-Eyeglass-Cleaning/dp/B001DKDAVW/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_0
  15. I think it's the flavor itself but I'm not certain. I just purchased an ultra sonic cleaner from Amazon which I already mentioned on a few other posts. It should be here early next week, fingers crossed this method might work. I talked to a few suppliers and they have all said that the Ultra Sonic cleaner keeps atomizers going for as long as 2-3 months as if new. (Jeso from Vaprlife has had good luck with this as well but he is using a $200 cleaner, I'm getting a $20 cleaner that users have already had good luck with) I'll keep you posted on how well it actually works
  16. Well first let me welcome you to the forum I understand your frustration, companies like Smoke 51 and Smoke Everywhere spend lots of money filling up PR spots and raises their page rank on Google. So of course when you research you end up purchasing a crap product. It's sad that these companies screw people so bad. That being said, this is where Vapor Talk comes in Check out some of these links that will help get you started. Then when you have questions come on back and we'll help you out. Here are the video reviews that myself and Sean do, it's what really gave Vapor Talk it's name: Click Here I suggest the following suppliers http://www.dietsmokes.com/ (This guy has been around for a while and is always in stock, he also offers overnight shipping) http://www.awesomevapor.com/ (Arno from Awesome Vapor doesn't have the best looking website but he's trust worthy, many of the member order from him) http://www.electronicstix.com/ (Another great supplier named Jason. Also a trusted supplier) I suggest you purchase a Joye 510 as your starter ecig. It has a manual battery which will be important later on and the starter kit comes with 2 atomizers rather than one. Hope that helps!
  17. I normally use 24 mg all day. Although I'm going to work on stepping it down to 16mg. Morning are a biggy for me it's usually when cravings are the highest next to perhaps after meals.
  18. You can find the ecig wiki here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_cigarette If you feel there is anything missing there is an "edit page" at the top. You must have an account to edit.
  19. Yes I have the VP1 unit and I use it often on the go. And no it's DEFIANTLY not as dainty as the Penstyle kits at all. It's built just like the VP2 is. Very durable and very sturdy.
  20. Yea redbull is very good, in fact it tastes almost exactly like red bull. One of Seans favorites.
  21. Although the Mini Pipe sucks I've hear some good things about the 601 E Pipe. Never used it though. Keep in mind they are pretty much just PenStyle atomizers with a battery shaped to a pipe. It's more of a look thing.
  22. Just to add to this post I just picked up an Ultra Sonic cleaner from Amazon for 20 bucks. Should be here in a few days, I've been talking to a few suppliers who all say that this really get's that weird taste out that the atomizer gets after a while. Some suppliers are reporting using the same atomizer for over 2 months! I'll keep you updated on how well it works.
  23. I think it would better to update the ecig page that is actually on wikipedia. There is a better chance of people actually seeing it.
  24. Actually the red one is kinda pink. I order a red PPC from widows beak word a while back and when I got it, it was pink too. Kinda of weird to carry around!
  25. I second that, a custom battery unit like the VP1 or VP2 from http://www.vaprlife.com is probably the way to go. The VP1 and VP2 both create the same amount of vapor. The VP1 will last about 4-5 hours and the VP2 will last about 6-8 hours. Give out take and that's on a single battery. (And that's with constant vaping)
