  1. Does it make any type of noise or crackle? If not it's probably dead. You may want to email and get it replaced. Sounds like it was DOA. (it happens sometimes)
  2. Simple short answer? It causes flavors to have more of an “ummph”.
  3. So I said I would pick up an Ultra Sonic cleaner and test things out for you guys. So I did. So far, I'm not feeling it much. I took some really used attys and threw them inside the ultrasonic cleaner for a 6 minutes spin. Then I emptied the water and did it one more time. The result? Same crappy taste. In fact it seemed even worse I'm still messing with it when I have the time. I have a feeling perhaps if you made this a weekly routine it would work. As for trying to bring back old attys, not so much. I'll post back here as I play with it some more
  4. Actually the DSE103 has been around for quite a while. It's pretty much an RN4081 with a raised atomizer. Although I've never actually used one, I'm pretty sure it's the same as the M401 but without the stupid "microphone" switch. In other words it doesn't just turn when it "hears" noise.
  5. Snarkyone nailed it on the head. 3.7 volt = standard ecigs plus the VP1, VP2, and Protoge 5.0 volt = What the new VP3 is going to be as well the Prodigy. Something to note about the VP3 though...Most custom mods are 5 volts because they stick more than one batter inside the unit. However after the battery starts to drain, the unit actually drops off in voltage. So people think they are getting 5 volts most of the time when they are not. The VP3 will remain 5 volts the entire time. How? I was told not to say until the unit is released. The VP passthrough will also be coming out which we will get our hands on next week This of course will be the first 5 volt unit I've tried, so until then I can't give much other feedback. Maybe I'll love it, maybe I'll hate it. We'll see I guess
  6. I don't really watch sports, but go someone! Welcome to VTF!
  7. Steve, good luck and welcome to VTF!
  8. NeRo9k gave an excellent post and I'm sure that will help out quite a bit. One thing to note is that NONE of the tobacco flavors will ever taste exactly like they state. Ever. Why? Because your not burning anything. Part of what gives a cigarette it's taste is the burnt tobacco. This obviously cannot be reproduced with vapor or the ecig because nothing is burning. It's why so many ecig users normally end up using the sweet flavors instead.
  9. Well your going to have to be a little more specific. When you say acting screwed up what do you mean?
  10. +1 for the VP2. The VP1 is great, but the VP2 just lasts FOREVER. I mean the battery life is crazy good and it can take a real beating without having to worry about breaking it. I hear the Silver Bullet is good but I've never used it. As for Pure Smokers mods, I hear great things about the Prodigy, however the Protege has been having some button issues. (The sensor on the button will stick causes the unit to stay on and get very hot. A few people have emailed me about this as well as posts over on ECF)
  11. Unfortunately what many people don't know and what many suppliers don't like to mention is that NOT all Joye 510's are made the same. Let me explain. The Joye 510 is called the JOYE 510 because it's made by a company in China called Joye Tech. This model became very popular VERY fast. So guess what? Other manufactures started creating their own 510 versions. Some suppliers now sell "joye 510's" that are actually not created by Joye. So how do you know? Well you don't. These things look EXACTLY the same. You would have to speak with your supplier/store and ask them. Then you have to hope they are being honest. There are a few things that I've noticed however about the genuine 510. (I've order a few, some I'm pretty sure are fakes) 1. A real Joye 510 atomizer will usually have a 4 digit numeric serial number stamped on the bottom of the atomizer. Where the breath hole is. 2. One way to tell any Joye atomizer is by looking inside the atomizer itself, if it's a Joye it will usually have 2-4 clear looking threads that stick out of the wick. I hope that helps a bit
  12. I'm going to move this to the general discussion area. (this is the "help it broke thread" nothing is broken here )
  13. i think your confusing to terms fatalis. Let me explain each one 1. Prime: The act of puffing on an ecig a few times before taking a drag/hit. This is done to get the atomizer warm. Only ever done on an automatic battery. (You wouldn't prime a manual battery because you can just hold the button down for a second before taking a drag) 2. Break in: The act of using the atomizer for a little while. After being used for say 8 hours, your penstyle atomizer should be broken in, working at it's full potential.
  14. All in the name of children *sigh* To be honest the wheel is already turning. I don't think changing the name would help, but it's something suppliers are working hard on.
  15. Well if he wants something that feels like an analog I don't think I'd go with an 801. It would be to long for him I'd think. Maybe go with the 510 like I always recommend for new ecig users. The M401 would feel more natural in his hand, BUT the "microphone" sensors in those things suck IMO. Also 510's have bigger carts as I doubt he will want to use liquid at first.
  16. Moving to Noobie Area. This area is for feedback only I have not used pepperment oil in my ecig as of yet. But I've heard people talk about it for an extra kick
  17. Well it could be from the throat kick. Some liquids can be harsh because that's what users have asked for. In your case this is obviously causing a problem sooo, yes VG will help a little. Lowering the nicotine will help even more as that's what causes more of the scratchy feeling you get. You may also want to try some of the smoother liquids. For example VT Dulcis will give quite a strong throat kick (which we wanted) however Grape Soda is much much smoother. You don't have to go with VT grape, most grapes flavors are smooth. I think apple is a smooth flavor as well but don't quote me on it
  18. Actually I would hold off to be honest. I picked one up and I cleaned out some really bad attys. They honestly tasted even worse after the ultrasonic bath. I'm going to clean some more as week speak to really test it out. But I have a feeling the ultrasonic cleaner just isn't the way to go.
  19. Will if you already have 510 parts I would go with the VP2510 version. http://vaprlife.com/noname4.html That way you can use your 510 atomizers with the VP unit Besides I don't like the Penstyle attys he sent out so I think the 510 will end up working better for you anyway. I personally use a VP unit with a short bridge penstyle atty from Awesome Vapor. Both work well though
  20. Perhaps the new Vapor Talk body gaurd? Guest "I'm not really liking your juice so much" Chris "ICEDOG!" Guest "who's this?" Chris "VT Body Gaurd" Guest "....." Chris "....." Guest "I'm gonna step right out for a vape...." IceDog "*big smile*
  21. The videos where moved to the new FAQ area which is listed under the Noobie section. (Section can be found right under the Introduce Yourself area) Here is a list of videos and FAQ's: http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/index.php?/topic/1710-what-is-direct-dripping/
  22. A good rule of thumb is to change the carts out every few days. (Then throw them away) I haven't used carts in a while but when I did I would rinse them in water and let them dry. You can also look into the Tea Bag mod for cartridges (do a google on it) That seems to work pretty well for most people. Dietsmokes.com sells empty carts for about 60c a pop. Not bad.
  23. Hmm this is something I've never hard before but definitely something I can relate too! If you notice in some of my videos I have a REALLY bad habit of licking my lips, something I picked up as a kid and have been doing for years. Because of it I often use chapstick (seriously I buy it in bulk) to make sure I don't give myself chapped lips. It's a reoccurring cycle. I have however noticed that since eSmoking I don't tend to get chapped lips like I used to. Is this because of the juice? I dunno. But an interesting topic nevertheless. As a needed note, members, please don't start putting juice on your lips, I don't recommend it at all!
  24. I'll be sure to share back here if I find anything. I've spoken with a few supplier already. The problem is adding the kick without adding taste. Nicotine causes the kick so we have to find something that will do the same without effecting the taste of the juice. One idea thrown out was pepper oil, but again that's something we're unfamiliar with and will have to look into.
