  1. No there is no reason to take apart your electronic cigarette. You just want to try and keep it level. The model that you are using normally comes with a charging case. Be sure that if you notice liquid leak out of your ecig you wipe it up right away. You do not want E Liquid getting into your charger pack
  2. Interesting. They look sort of like the raised coil cartomizers from Royal. Think I'm going to give these a spin. (Also corrected the typo in topic title)
  3. OK Would hate to inadvertently start a lead scare
  4. No no, don't mis read the post. There has never been a case of lead found in atomizers. EVER. This is just for peace of mind for those that are concerned.
  5. Hmmm well if you stop vaping that long before bed I doubt it has anything to do with the nicotine and could perhaps be something else. Have you only had this issue since you started vaping?
  6. I personally don't. I work so much that when I do crash I crash hard. But yes vaping is known to cause sleep issues. Although it's not actually the vaping itself it's the nicotine. The same issues can happen with the patch, cigarettes etc. It's recommended that if you have sleep issues to avoid vaping as long as 2 hours before bed. 1 hour if you really have an urge. You may also want to step down your nicotine strength a couple hours before you know your going to sleep. We all tend to use vaping as a "relaxing time" before we go to bed. This unfortunately can cause unwelcome sleep issues. Vaping right before bed can also cause "strange" dreams. Although reports have shown these tend to be...well naughty dreams. (seriously) I would suggest a little time to unwind before hitting the bed. Read a book, calm music etc. I used to have the same problem. (Could fall asleep fast but would wake up after a few hours) What helped me was to avoid vaping right before bed, limit fast food or anything greasy and no caffeine of course. Having some type of white noise such as a fan also helps. I also picked up a comfy pillow from Walmart. (Cost 20 bucks I think)
  7. Cool post. My brother used his eGO while out in Afghanistan for a little while.
  8. Every so often I get emails about concerns that atomizers may contain lead. Given the lead scare a few years back in children's toys this is understandable. Many of you might not be aware but we test our all of our products for lead. (Yup!) We're not a million dollar company so what we use is quite simple. And something I thought I would share with everyone http://www.amazon.com/Leadcheck®-Lead-Test-Kits-Non-toxic/dp/B000Z8BCAO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1283336831&sr=8-2 These kits are cheap and easy to use. You pop each side of the pen and a yellow liquid is released. I run the liquid through the atomizer. I also scrape the paint off of random eGo batteries and mix it with the liquid. If the liquid was to turn pink, it would be a sign of lead. Of course I've never once seen the liquid turn pink. The kits also come with tester pads so that after your done testing, you can rub the "pen" onto the tester to make sure it's working correctly. (In which case of course, the liquid turns pink) I highly recommend you keep a pack of these at home.
  9. Well the problem is with the no nicotine. Nicotine actually creates much of the throat hit while PG backs it up. So if your going to go 0mg PG is the only way to go, just keep in mind it won't be the same as higher strengths.
  10. If you look at the filament it's actually just a normal atomizer coil. If you have an old 510 atomizer rip of the bridge and look inside so you know what a filament looks like. Then look at the cartomizer. What they've pretty much done is taken an atomizer coil and lifted it higher.
  11. Either way we're glad to have ya here! Don't feel bad even I can't keep up
  12. It could be because VT has a store. Some webmasters don't care for that. (I don't think they realize we're an open forum and none restrictive forum)
  13. We will not have any starter kits in stock for about another week or two due to US customs issues. However you can click on the "suppliers" link above which will show a list of certified suppliers
  14. The chances of this are pretty slim. You have to remember this forum has been around since almost the start of ecigs. We've all sort of learned along the way. There where much higher strengths back then. You'd have to drink e liquid before you'd end up with nicotine poisoning. I know "listening to your body" doesn't seem like it would work but it does. Have you ever gone out drinking, smoked your rear end off only to feel sort of "bleh" You think to yourself "got I can't smoke anymore" The same thing would happen with vaping. I can assure you that if you start with say 12 or 16mg you'd have to really push yourself to ever hit nicotine poisoning. In other words your not going to vape only to wake up 8 hours later and think "what just happened" it doesn't work like that. It takes A LOT of time and you'd end up throwing up before you ever hit a lethal stage. Now if you buy 100ml of 36mg from China and then spilled it all over yourself... well then your on your own.
  15. I'm a pretty heavy vaper and I have to say I usually get about a good 10 hours out of the standard batteries. (Constant Vaping)
  16. Wed Aug 25, 8:49 pm ET Conservative radio host and political commentator Rush Limbaugh spoke about the benefits of e-cigarettes while pointing out the bullying tactics of the FDA, Big Pharma and Big Tobacco on his August 25 radio show. (PRWEB) August 25, 2010 -- Conservative radio host and political commentator Rush Limbaugh spoke about the benefits of e-cigarettes while pointing out the bullying tactics of the FDA, Big Pharma and Big Tobacco on his August 25 radio show. After being spotted recently on his ditto-cam apparently smoking, Rush responded last week to his listeners that he was in fact using a Volcano e-cigarette, not smoking a tobacco cigarette. On today's show, he said that the Aug 25 Wall Street Journal article was an example of how he is on the cutting edge, and how his mention of a new technology immediately brings all sorts of attention to it. Holding up his e-cigarette, he said, “This happens to be one from Volcano, in Hawaii... they're made up of three parts, an atomizer, a battery and a cartridge. Now the cartridge has liquid, has nicotine in it, and when you suck on it the battery powers the atomizer and turns the liquid into a vapor...” Rush then began talking about the FDA's bullying of e-cigarette companies, “...lo and behond, look at this, Wall Street Journal: “E-Cigarettes Spark New Smoking War”. “It's all about how the FDA wants to... in fact, they have been intercepting shipments of these products, the ones that are made overseas, as they come in. “A lot of people now want to have the FDA inspect these, conduct trials and tests and make sure they're safe, and regulate them because they're quote unquote a drug delivery system, i.e. nicotine in the cartridge. “...Now who could possibly be behind trying to shut down the e-cigarette business? Well, yeah, Big Tobacco could be behind it, and maybe, Big Drug? I mean, Big Drug makes nicotine gum and other products. So who can maybe be behind this?” Rush Limbaugh could prove to be a great advocate in the David and Goliath fight that many small e-cigarette companies face. The FDA wants to classify e-cigarettes as a drug delivery device, lumping them in with nicotine patches, nicotine gum, and other smoking cessation devices. If the FDA gets their way, the resulting lengthy and costly trials could be the death of the burgeoning industry, or at the least force “vapers” (as e-cigarette users call themselves) to go underground. The company that Rush Limbaugh uses, Volcano E-Cigs, is one of many companies that does not claim to be providing a product to quit smoking, however. Plainly included on Volcano's homepage is a disclaimer stating that their products are not marketed as a cessation device, but instead are a recreational alternative to traditional tobacco cigarettes. Many other e-cigarette companies are also very careful not to claim that their products are designed to help you quit smoking, however after reading the forums at Volcano and also at Vaportalk.com, it is evident that tens of thousands of people have made the complete switch from tobacco cigarettes to e-cigarettes in the past three years. With battle lines being clearly drawn, the outcome of this pending fight is still very uncertain. What is certain, however, is that the e-cigarette community now has a very powerful ally by the name of Rush Limbaugh. Story: http://news.yahoo.com/s/prweb/20100826/bs_prweb/prweb4430704_1
  17. We would never raise our prices willingly of course. I worry that big pharma will take over. One of two things could happen. 1. Electronic Cigarettes are classed as Tobacco. THIS is what we want. (Out of two options this is better than the next) Most likely regulation will come, which isn't a bad thing. It means a set of standards will need to be followed and licenses will need to obtained. In all honesty, the industry almost needs it at this point. (Just look at Rath. *Shudders* who knows what's being mixed there) This option will bring taxes but not immediately. Remember the FDA cannot create or levy taxes. My guess is prices will not raise by much if this option takes place. 2. The electronic cigarette is classed as a drug delivery device. (Not so good) This would probably require much more testing and the ecig would probably classed as a nicotine cessation device. Liquid would be gone, higher strengths would most likely disappear and your looking at a device that would probably be sold much the same the nicotine inhaler is sold. Again this is all speculation. Another thing to keep in mind is large companies. If ecigs become legal, large companies are most likely going to step in. Your typical Mom and Pop run ecig store will no longer exist. For fear of a lawsuit, most of these large companies will do whatever it takes to keep ecigs as safe as possible. (Not a bad thing) This would most likely include removing bottled liquid from the market. Even if the prices where raised only a little, could you imagine having only the option to purchase pre filled cartos? That alone would bump your monthly cost up quite a bit. It would indirectly become expensive. Right now there is "ok" money in electronic cigarettes. The profit margin isn't quite as large as some would think. If your running the business out of your parents basement sure, you'll do just fine. But once you start adding in employees, office buildings etc your margin shrinks quite quickly. (Something we face) Thus prices would have to raise to cover these costs. I'm not saying everyone should go on a stock up spree but I think we should all pay very close attention to the court case next month. I know we don't plan to disappear and we're already working on backups in case of an all out doom day. (Think American Made E Liquid) Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
  18. We where hit pretty hard these last few weeks
  19. Do you have any links? Maybe I should send Volcano and email and say hello I love it when we make it into articles.
  20. Really wished he'd give the forum a shout out! (seriously Rush I'll send you some e liquid on the house) It's nice to see ecigs go mainstream. It's going to be an interesting couple years ahead.
