Math. Every bit of it is in the sig. The only number I needed to start with was the 40mg LD50, which is widely available. Obviously all the numbers are approximate, and will vary based on body mass, etc. Also the (again approximate) ~10% number was partially derived by some... unintentional experimentation.

Hmm, duly noted, and changed in my sig ;]

P.S. There may be other copy/paste letters around the forum, I just want to make sure whatever I send in has proper wording and context for the current situation.

Ok, so I'm one of the blokes who wants to support the cause, but am far too lost in my understanding of all the details. Perhaps I missed it somewhere, but has anyone posted a formal letter for us to copy/paste to our reps and the gubment? I've seen links all over the place as well. Perhaps a new sticky thread, or an edit of the original post in this thread is in order? I always feel like I'm copping out when I ask for help like this, but I think I represent a fairly large chunk of any forum userbase when I say "just show me where to sign". If you want more action and less talk, help us lower-wits to take that action please!

The downside: I don't dare take it on flights, as it looks like a homemade bomb.

So Sinjhin and I set out to mod our Joye 510 PCC to be more space efficient and easier to carry around. I've never liked the Joye PCC. It's too big, it has sharp corners, and there's a ton of wasted space. After reviewing a number of case options we went with the humble Altoids case, perfect size, easy to work with, durable. Sinjhin made his prototype first and I looked on. He made the interior form from laminated layers of foam. and cut out the spaces he wanted to use for parts. When I went to make mine I took away the pros and minimized on the cons of his prototype design and came up with what you see below. It's a little rough around the edges, but it's fantastically useful. We simply removed the battery, circuit board, and charging mount from the Joye PCC, and resoldered the connections together to suit our new shape. Basically in my design I used electrical tape to insulate the parts, then taped together the battery and circuit board in a convenient arrangement to fit on the bottom of one side of the case, and then mounted the connection point on top of that, adding in a little tubing to help hold the charging battery in place. Then we simply cut a small hole for the USB connection to stick out one side, and I put a bit of a buffer on the other side to keep the USB connection snugly in place. I didn't actually tape or glue the charging assembly into the case. It fits snugly enough as it is. I did have to shave down one of the circuit board corners to save some space, which was nerve-racking, but it turned out alright. After learning from Sinjhin's on-the-fly experience, I made sure to mount the circuit board with the lights facing up so I could easily see them, and I cut out spots in the tape for them to shine through. Then I cut out a small hole in the lid and glued in a small piece of clear plexiglass so I could view the lights with the case closed. Another key feature of the case devised by Sinjhin is a dedicated space for a fully-assembled ecig, for easy access without having to open the case. Sinjhin used foam, but to minimize on wasted surrounding space I went with more of the plastic tubing for easy insertion and removal. You probably can't see it from the pictures, but there is a thin section cut out on the back side for the button on the battery to slide into, and the whole tube has a single slit in it to relax its grip on the battery so I can get the damn thing back out once I put it in. The hole in the side of the case for this tube was made by a series of punches from a regular hole-punch. It's still looks a bit rough, but turned out a lot better than our other attempt at merely punching the hole manually and reaming it out. Aside from that the case is unmodified and the rest of the space is all room for spare parts. Besides the charging battery and the full ecig slot, the case can fit a whole battery + atty in the bottom, another battery + atty on top of that, 3 atty/carts above/behind the full ecig slot, and even two 3ml sample ejuice bottles (the kind Arno gives you). To make everything fit just right I did have to kind of bend the case walls a little bit in all directions, but that actually makes the lid fit a little tighter and more secure, as long as you don't overdo it and bend the lid hinges. So all in all, I can fit: - 4 standard 510 batteries (one of them charging, and one of them can be the extended battery if you use it in the full ecig slot) - 6 or 7 510 attys/carts - 2 3ml bottles of juice Here's the pics, enjoy! Thanks to Sinjhin for making the prototype. We will both probably refine this design in the future. The Joye PCC guts reconnected for testing: The Joye PCC guts assembled into a unit: The charging assembly and the full ecig slot assembled into the case: The case filled to capacity and charging: The case, closed: Closed case from the top: And of course, the lovely mess left behind:

How Much Juice Do You Go Through In A Month?
mmseng replied to mmseng's topic in Polls and Questionnaires
So, to you guys who use 48mg, where do you usually get it? I mostly buy from awesomevapor and electronicstix, but they don't sell 48mg. -
How Much Juice Do You Go Through In A Month?
mmseng replied to mmseng's topic in Polls and Questionnaires
Yeah, that was the intention, although apparently it's not quite as obvious as I thought it was at the time. Personally I tend to carry both a 36mg bottle (unflavored) and random lower-mg flavors, so i can get the hit/flavor combo I want. Incidentally, I've also noticed that doing this makes mixing flavors less annoying, although for the most part I still use fairly compatible flavors anyway. -
How Much Juice Do You Go Through In A Month?
mmseng replied to mmseng's topic in Polls and Questionnaires
FYI, as of this post, the results are: 0-10mg: ~ 140+ml / 13 responses ~ 10ml 10-20mg: ~ 220+ml / 13 responses ~ 16ml 20-30mg: ~ 195ml / 13 responses ~ 15ml 30+mg: ~ 80ml / 13 responses ~ 6ml Albeit a very approximate, rounded-to-hell result, you can still see the bell curve in there. Of course, that's only good for comparing the nic levels, and not so much the average liquid volume per month. If I haven't screwed up my logic somewhere, then I believe you'd find that by simply adding up the results. 10 + 16 + 15 + 6 = 47ml, which is possibly a slightly low figure, accounting for my retrospectively bad decision to lump 1-10ml in with 0ml. The only way to make it much more accurate without having an infinite number of poll options would be to just have everyone post exactly what they vape and then do the math. But I was trying to avoid the necessary paragraph-filtering that would entail. Plus, polls are fun! -
How Much Juice Do You Go Through In A Month?
mmseng replied to mmseng's topic in Polls and Questionnaires
Yeah, I was just trying to get a very approximate answer. Wasn't quite sure how to set it up. Almost failed statistics class. However the way I see it, <10ml per month is probably low enough (for an averagely heavy vaper) to be considered "not very much", so I lumped it in with 0 to cut down on the already large number of answers in the interest of user-readability and to encourage responses. Sure you can, you just pick <10ml in all other categories. Like I say, for the course of a month, for the very general purposes of this poll, <10ml is close enough to 0. The point is, the poll should still give a decent comparison between nic levels. You simply strip out the <10ml answers and add up the rest of the ml amounts for each mg category. -
Hey guys, I'm just posting a curious poll. How much juice and of what strengths do you vape on average? I originally wondered this about myself because I'm taking a month-long trip to China soon and was trying to decide how much to bring with me. Unfortunately I never really kept track of my intake. I'm sure many of you are probably the same way, but I figure those who have been vaping longer might have a better idea. This is not a "public poll", which I assume means that your answers will not be tied to your name, so don't feel bashful about answering. But don't answer if you don't want to either, of course.

Heh, yeah that crossed my mind and now I try to remember to keep them from touching the case, or just make sure their common polar ends are not touching. So a friend and I just finished hacking together custom PCCs out of Altoids cases and the guts from our Joye 510 PCCs. I'm very pleased with how they turned out. Look forward to the pics soon!

Also, as it turns out, the altoids tin couldn't be a better fit for my extended 510 batt and my spade.

I'm going to China in a month FOR a month, and I've been looking for good ways to pack my PV stuff securely. Primarily I was looking for a way to keep my parts neatly together, in a low profile container, protected, and keep the battery buttons from being pushed. I figure, an altoids case would work decently well, but when I went to the store to get one I saw something perhaps even better. It's a pack of Tic Tac "CHILL" mints, more specifically, the plastic case they come in. It fits disassembled 510/901 parts perfectly, small enough to keep the parts from wiggling around or getting their buttons pushed, and just roomy enough to fit the diameter and keep the batts from getting wedged so that their buttons get pushed. Nice, smooth, and low-profile, hell, it's DESIGNED to fit in your pocket. It's just wide enough for 5 batts or attys, Unfortunately, as you can see in the picture, it's not quite big enough for my extended 510 battery, but I did discover that if you pack it right, it will hold an entire generic 510 PT (2nd pic). It opens in three ways, 1) a little dispenser door in the top pops open, 2) that same top pops all the way off, and 3) there's a sliding door in one side. The sliding door is just slightly too small/awkwardly placed to be able to extract parts from it very well. It's semi-transparent, so you can see what inside without opening it. Propbably not as sturdy as an altoids case, but it does the job. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like it may withstand the dishwasher. Its surface is just barely textured so it holds permanent marker perfectly, so you can label your packs of stuff. I think they cost like $2, kinda pricey for mints, but not for a handy carrying PV carrying case ;] Now I wish I'd gotten more when I was at the store. Edit: I bet it would make a decent box for modding into a juicebox-type mod as well.

Electronic Cigarette Sales Banned In New York
mmseng replied to Christopher's topic in General Vape News
Well I copy'n'pasted this post to my gaming forums, which I know has a least a few vapors, as well as a lot of people who feel strongly about keeping their rights. So, as a non-NY resident, what is the best thing to do? I have to admit, when these things come up, I get a little overwhelmed with all the links upon links, and following them, and getting lost, and not knowing who to contact, etc. -
Sinjhin and I experimented with using everclear in our ecigs tonight. We did some initial calculations to make sure we weren't going to hurt ourselves. I'm too tired atm to post the math, but the generalized results lead us to believe that it's almost impossible to get legitimately drunk from the small volume of alcoholic vapor produced from an ecig. There are, in fact, vapor bars out there that provide alcohol vaporizers called AWOLs (Alcohol WithOut Liquid), which provide a much greater volume of vapor than an ecig could possibly produce. So it's certainly possible, but not with a small ecig. We used 95% everclear, and despite the fact that our research told us that a mixture of 40-50% or greater alcohol is flammable, we were able to atomize (we think) pure everclear without any kind of combustion. Presumably the alcohol-to-oxygen ratio inside the atomizer is not ideal for combustion. And even when doing this, we were not able to detect any noticeable buzz. The math adds up. To get "legally drunk" you'd have to somehow get a 0.1% BAC. Based on an average 5.2 liters of blood, this equals around 5-6ml of alcohol in your blood. That's the better part of an entire 10ml bottle of 100% alcohol. So you'd have to vape a whole 6ml of pure alcohol to get legally drunk, and I know I certainly can't vape that much in one night. Also, in our experience the alcohol actually lessened the TH dramatically. I'm not even sure the alcohol was thoroughly atomized, as the resulting vapor was virtually nonexistent, or at least non-visible. It tasted more like hot air with alcohol fumes. Too bad. I was hoping to have an instant drunk-buzz-machine in my pocket.

Hah, at least you have a couple years' worth of teabag mods!

The pictures I've seen online do, in fact, say Pyramid on them. The link in my OP is broken, but here's another: My link

I've actually been curious about the teeth color question. If I'm not mistaken, the discoloration on your teeth (and fingers) is usually attributed to nicotine. Obviously all the other crap in tobacco makes up a huge portion of the color (as can easily be seen by Sinjhin's video), but if nicotine doesn't discolor teeth and skin, then the age-old term "nicotine stain" is complete horse crap. Also you can tell nicotine has at least a little color by comparing a bottle of unflavored 0mg with a bottle of unflavored high-nic juice. The nic juice is quite yellow in comparison.

Well my biggest problem is that after just a couple refills, the carts have so much backed up liquid that I can only put in 2 or 3 drops at most. However, a brand new cart will last me for quite a while before needing a refill, and I'm basically just looking for a material that will maximize the number of refills I can get without fiddling with the filler too much (shake/wash it out). From the look of it, I was hoping the tea bag mod would be a little LESS absorbent, so even if I can't put as many drops in without flooding/leaking, I'm hoping I can get a higher percentage of the drops I DO put in to wick down.
-
Well unless the pyramid tea is somewhere other than the regular tea I'm fairly certain the stores I checked didn't have it. I looked long and hard. I have some filter polishing pads though, for my aquariums. Not fluval brand, but I suppose as long as the consistency is right it should work. I guess I'll play with that until I can find some tea bags.

Hey guys, I've been wanting to try some of the PTB mods as I'm getting frustrated with the generic polyfills. But I've looked in a couple of the local groceries and they don't have these tea bags. They've got plenty of Lipton teas, but none of them say Pyramid on them, and none of them have a picture of the pyramid bag. I searched briefly online and the pictures I found were of boxes that said "Pyramid bags" and had a picture (see: ). Are you guys finding these at your local stores?

Or perhaps chocolate syrup

I just bought some 901 carts from Arno for my 510s because I much prefer the whistle tip shape. But I've noticed that the very end of the tip, the flat face with the hole in it, if you will, occasionally falls out of the cart, leaving the end of the cart open. It's not really a huge deal. It only happens occasionally, I assume it would work fine without this piece, and I haven't actually lost any of these pieces yet, but I assume it will happen eventually. Has anyone experienced this? I was considering super-gluing these pieces onto the cart, but I definitely don't want to ruin any taste or be inhaling superglue fumes lol.
