  1. LOL, I guess it's a case of 'be careful what you wish for.' After the debacles with Smoking Everywhere & Smoke51, I kept wishing for a reliable supplier with good products. Now I'm spoiled for choice and having to figure out how to order from a bunch of deserving businesses... And now I have a really good reason to order from yet another.
  2. <perk> They have Cards?!?! Could I get some? Who do I ask? Now that I know more about what I'm doing with my 801, I'm planning on getting some 'loaner units' for people who ask to smoke in my cab. {no more sweeping out ashes, spraying stuff to counteract the smell or *shudder* looking for burn holes!} The plan is still in the planning phase, so not an urgent need, but at some time... As for convincing someone, my new catchphrase is, "No one should have to freeze for their nicotine." Ok, so maybe it wouldn't work down south or in the summer...
  3. The thoughts started rolling when I read this in the Noobie section: I've seen hand-crank units for charging cell phones. I also have a solar powered flashlight/radio that has a crank option for evening/cloudy days. I wonder what the voltage requirement would be to recharge a battery, at least enough to get a few puffs out so as not to go back to tobacco. Another thing I'd like to see (or please someone tell me if it's out there and I just didn't find it yet) a leak-proof atomizer. I'm talking really leak-proof, taking direct dripping to a whole new level where one can Fill the atomizer and puff away for a long time. The 3rd thing I thought of was kinda a fix for what I see as a design flaw. Does anyone out there know why e-cigs are designed to draw air through the battery? That hole, whether guarded by a manual button or not seems to be a weak point in the unit. Would it be possible to design an atomizer where the air is drawn through it, and have the connection to the battery only for power? I'd think that it could still be designed to have an LED light up when in use. I kinda like that feature. Any techie type people out there want to give these ideas a whirl?
  4. I placed an order with Wordup today. They had everything I wanted in stock. And I wanted to try some of their liquids anyway. Will still be sending Arno some business in the future. He & his family have done right by me thus far. I can tell it's a small business, so having stuff in stock all the time can be difficult. Next time I order, it won't be as time sensitive. I'm saving up to hatch the 'evil plot' of converting all my passengers to vape. I work night shift. Lots of bar runs and people who want to smoke. Since they passed the law to ban smoking in public places, smoking in a taxi is technically illegal. (though no local cop is likely to pull a cab over for people smoking in it, they like us too much) Thinking of getting some 'loaner units' with extra mouthpieces that I can switch out, take them home, sterilize them & use them the next night. Will probably go with the Joye510s for that project.
  5. Tis a thought... Who has them? Now that I've had a 5 hr nap, I think it might have been a 30-something that was compatible with a 510... Always did have a crummy memory for numbers. Haven't memorized a single telephone number since I got my first cell phone that stored numbers. Before that, I kept an address book. In the meantime, I have sent Arno an email and hope to hear from him or his family soon. At least the unit I have is still working & recharging just fine. Just being paranoid every time I have to set it down at an angle. Thanks All for the Info! P.S. Just had a thought: has anyone ever posted a list of compatibilities? Say this model from X will fit these from Y,Z, etc.? If not, is there some knowledgeable helpful, and somewhat obsessive/compulsive person out there who will take up the challenge? *G*
  6. Yeah, I'm planning on cleaning mine regularly, but will 'drag it till it drops.' Though I am going to get several spares. Don't want to have to go back to tobacco. That's what happened to me when I got the set from Smoke51. Was working one night and it died and wouldn't recharge. That's when I realized that the spare battery was Not pre-charged as the kiosk guy had said. And the charger didn't work on it either! Found myself desperately searching convenience stores for something like my regular tobacco smokes. It's a smaller brand and only a few stores locally carry it. Settled for something not nearly as pleasant for my nic fix. An experience I hope to never have to repeat.
  7. I just went to Arno's site but couldn't find manual batteries for the 801. Did I read somewhere recently that the Joye510 batteries were compatible with 801s, or was that just wishful thinking?
  8. Yeah, I have a mild case of OCD too. I've managed to harness most of the tendencies towards either harmless eccentricities or sometimes even helpful activities. But people have learned to get the heck out of my way when it kicks in and I go on a cleaning spree. Have gone on 48 hr cleaning jags after months of clutter & not putting stuff away. LOL
  9. Thanks for all the info folks. Been puffing away for a few days now and am convinced!! Now I'm thinking of customizing a bit. I think I'll order a couple of manual batteries and a low bridge atomizer so I can try direct dripping.
  10. I have no idea what kind of atty I have. I ordered the 'Classic Pen Starter Kit' from awesomevapor.com. But from what I've been reading, it looks like I wouldn't have to worry about it at all if I got a couple of manual type batteries. Did I interpret it right?
  11. Hi All! I'm in the process of switching. After a couple of false starts, I now have an 801 pen style kit that is showing some promise. possibly dumb questions #1 & 2: I've read where it is bad to let the juice get into the battery area, and also bad for it to leak into the mouthpiece. So I've been doing my level best (pun intended) to keep it horizontal. But I'd really like to be able to set it down at an angle or even put it in a pocket like a pen. Would doing so be risky with this type of unit? I've heard of manual type batteries. Would something like that make it safer to store it battery-side down? possibly dumb question #3: How many drops of juice is recommended to start out a blank cartridge? (has anyone ever bothered to count?) possibly dumb question #4: And on a similar note, is there any rough estimate of how often I should top off the juice? As in x number of drops after z number of draws? possibly dumb question #5: Does the atomizer need occasional cleaning? And if so, where would I find instructions to do so? possibly less dumb question #1: I’ve noticed that a number of suppliers sell 801s. Are parts standardized/interchangeable? possibly less dumb question #2: What part of the unit is likely to quit first, as in what should I always have a spare of?
