The right attorney would probably rip them a new one on this. In fact, if the judge in the case was made aware of the FDA stance, he would probably rip them a new one. My reading of his ruling did not specifically single out the litigants in the case. In fact, he said that the FDA had no authority to take the action of stopping shipments...PERIOD!

Overall, I think this makes sense. However, taste can be very subjective. I think this would give a good overall impression, especially if several people give their ratings on the same juice. It would probably give a much better idea than people just trying to describe the juice in words alone.

Retailers, buyers and suppliers need to band together and start inundating elected representatives with as much material and personal appeals as possible. There are physicians and health experts willing to say that e-cigs are a better choice than analogs. They need to be encouraged to speak up against any outright ban. The majority of e-cig sources I am aware of are very explicit in saying these are not for kids. But there are unscrupulous individuals who don't have any such scruples. Where possible these marketers need to be put out of business, and the best way to do that is to boycott their sites. If they're not making sales, they won't stay in business. With the right kind of support, and a reasoned, fact-based appeal to politicians, I think the move to ban e-cigs can be turned around.

Congrats on the first year! That's fantastic! I've only been vaping for about a month, and already I can see some improvements health-wise. One of the biggest is being rid of the crap in my throat and not having the blood pressure shoot sky high with the first cig of the day. I'm trying to control my urges to keep buying stuff. Time will tell how that's going to work out.

Angel, this is not on topic with your original post, but I need to say something. Your posts are extremely difficult to read because you don't use punctuation...or seldom use punctuation. It makes everything in your posts run together, and it's hard to follow your line of thought. You have some interesting things to say, but some are going to miss out because they won't want to wade through the post trying to follow what you are saying.

I'll be watching the VT Store for a new "wet socks" juice flavor in the near future...given your glowing recommendation.

It really doesn't taste much like a cigar, but for some reason it's the closest thing to my Marlboro Ultra-lights that I've tried. I guess it's just enough of a tobacco taste to satisfy me. To be honest, I'm getting to the point where I don't even want my vape to taste like tobacco. Maybe I'm getting past the newbie stage.

Congratulations on making the switch to vaping! But, to borrow a saying from 12-step programs, "One day at a time!" Never is a really long time, and as someone who quit analogs for as long as three years and then started up again, you just never know. I have been analog free now for almost a month, and I don't think about picking up a Marlboro Ultra-light any more. But I'm not ready to say that I never will again. I do know that a lot of the side effects from smoking have started to disappear, and I really do enjoy vaping in front of the T.V., or as I sit and read. Just not having to walk outside in cold or rainy weather is a huge plus for me. And not having the smell from analogs clinging to me is a huge plus. My wife is still smoking, so I get a constant reminder of what that is like. So each day, I make a conscious decision to pick up my e-cig instead of a Marlboro, and I think how happy I am that I did the research and found this forum to support the wisdom of that decision.

Current management at Phillip Morris are pragmatists. Their income from tobacco has fallen steadily for the past couple of decades and they know they need to find new revenue streams. Thus they have diversified into many different areas. I would hope that if they indeed have invested in an e-cig business they will look to exploit that business in the U.S. Just from a positive publicity viewpoint, it would help to improve their image if they offered a less damaging alternative to the millions they helped to hook on nicotine.

I would be curious to know what the hospital's policy is toward the nicotine inhalers that people use to quit smoking. If they are allowed, the hospital and your boss would have a difficult time enforcing the exclusion of vaping. The only difference is the lack of vapor cloud with the nicotine inhalers. Unfortunately, unreasonable people tend to maintain their unreasonable ways even in the face of facts.

For several years now, most of my co-workers and I have adopted the philosophy that it's easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission. That way of thinking fits vaping pretty well, I think. I walked into Starbucks this morning, absently vaping away. I'm not sure if it was the LED glowing, or what, but no one said a thing. Maybe because it was so obvious that the black 510 with the blue LED was not a cigarette.

A 5 volt power supply is a 5 volt power supply, so it will work. The question is in the mAh, or in other words the "strength" of those 5 volts. With lower mAh, the oomph in that 5 volts is going to be a little lacking. Think of it like this: it's not the number of volts that will kill you when you get shocked, but rather the amps behind those volts. With 500mAh coming from the USB to the PT, you may not get the volume of vapor you're looking for, but you will most likely get vapor.

I have started vaping in "no smoking" areas a little more and being somewhat discreet by just holding a little longer when I inhale. The result is almost no vapor on the exhale, and so far I haven't had a single comment. I think it would be different if I was blowing out clouds of vapor. I have only done this during long meetings and I try to be somewhat discreet.

Right now, my favorites are Cuban Cigar and WYS4 from Wet Your Stick. I just placed an order with Ms. T's Bakery Essentials, and I let you know how they are.
-
They're called droppers!

Just for the sake of clarity, the 510 mega is just a battery with a larger capacity than the standard 510 battery. It is not a mod. The Spade and other mods are designed to make use of high capacity, rechargeable batteries. In most cases, the mods also operate at a higher voltage than the "normal" batteries, including the 510 mega. The voltage of the mods runs 5-6 volts, where the regular batteries operate at around 3.5 volts.

I got an order from Wet Your Stick that included Cuban Cigar, Strawberry, WYS4(a caramel/tobacco combo) and Chocolate. I enjoy the Cuban Cigar as an all-day vape, and the others I trade off for after meals and such. I plan to order from here and try the Dulcis when I get through my current supply.

New batteries, I'm told, are usually about 80% charged. So it's entirely possible they were fully charged in a short time. And yes, there is a "break in" period for new atties. Drip a couple of drops of juice to speed up the process. Keep in mind, though, e-cigs will not taste like your analogs. You may get a good tobacco-flavored liquid that comes close, but it is different. You'll have to experiment a bit to find a juice that you like and that meets your nicotine needs. Good luck, and welcome to vaping.

With the automatics, there is air flow that activates the battery to charge the atty. But I think the air hole on most is in the atty itself. Having said that, there is the possibility of juice getting into the battery through the "switch" in the battery that is triggered with the flow of air. That is why dripping can be an issue with the automatics.

If my experience is typical (and I think it is) you're not going to get any juice that is really going to taste like your analogs. It may approach the flavor, but it's going to be different. When you get your e-cigs, I would suggest keeping this in mind and allow a couple of days to adjust to the difference. As a couple of people have said, you'll soon find that tasting like analogs is not all that important. Experimenting and finding a "new" way to get your nic fix is part of the benefit of vaping.

This is an excellent summary of the newbie experience, and I concur completely. I am on my fourth week vaping, having started with a disposable, and I can't imagine going back to analogs. I keep thinking about those days of standing in the rain because I couldn't smoke inside. Even at places where it is not appropriate to smoke in public, I can slip into a stall in the bathroom, satisfy my need for nicotine, and then go back to what I was doing. Even on airplanes, slipping into the bathroom without having to deal with setting off the smoke alarms. Maybe someday I'll get to the point where I don't need the nicotine and go to 0mg just for the pleasure of vaping...maybe that's a little too optimistic. I will offer one warning about the higher nicotine juices. Yesterday, I was hitting some 36mg strawberry a little heavy and ended up breaking in heavy sweats, heart palpitations and shakes. I'm sure I OD'd on the nicotine. Just be careful if you're using the higher levels.

I just received 5 atties for my 510 from ecigsupply.com that arrived three days after placing my order. I'm in NC, so I was pleased with the quick response. At $7 per atty, I couldn't resist the opportunity to stock up. Now, I'm getting ready to place an order for a better PT and a couple more mega batteries to complete my stocks and keep me vaping for a while.

Part of the coughing response is because your body is trying to clear the old residue from your lungs from smoking analogs. You are in the process of getting rid of the old tar and other by-products of inhaling combusted material into your lungs, which you don't get from vaping. And I agree that your craving is the result of not getting as much nicotine as your body is used to getting. I swap between 36mg and 24mg juices. I know that the throat hit I get first thing in the morning is a little harsher than it is later in the day. Good luck, and welcome to vaping.

Welcome to the forum, and vaping in general. For me, there was a "conversion" period because I was expecting the vapor to taste like my Marlboro Ultra Lights, and it just doesn't. Add the break-in period for the atty that someone else mentioned, and you end up with "nasty" first impressions. Give yourself time to adjust to the new experience, and I think you'll adjust fine. It may also take some trial and error to find a juice that appeals to you. Here's to making a successful transition to vapor life.

Thanks for all the replies. It was pretty much as I suspected. I'm thinking I need to get a VT-PT as soon as possible. The laptops are always plugged in at home, so that's not an issue. To be honest, I prefer using the 510 with the Mega Battery I got with my kit. In fact, I'm going to order a couple more of them to have on hand. The PT tends to get too hot for me, which leads to harsh vaping. So far, the Mega lasts about 7-8 hours of fairly heavy use. So, I'm pretty happy with that.
