  1. Welcome to VaporTalk and a big hearty congrats for switching over to vaping from smoking!!! Like was mentioned, there's always a sale going on somewhere, sometime. When you browse the various stores, be sure to subscribe to each store's NewsLetter. They often notify us of coupon codes and sales in those newsletters. Happy surfing!

The lower the resistance, (the fewer coils), the more vapor usually. The higher the resistance, (the more coils), the more the flavor usually. To achieve more flavor: 1. Use twisted wire. (I use 32, some vapers use 30). Twisted wire means you take a length of wire, fold it in half, tie the ends off, hook it onto a hook. Place the other loopy end onto a coat hanger, and twist that hanger around nice and consistantly in tension, until it's twisted nicely all the way down the line. Cut off a piece, and wrap your wick like normal. This doubles the wire, which doubles the juice, which doubles the flavor. A lot of peeps use the drill chuck on lowest speed, which works the best for perfect steady tension. (it twists in a second, so watch out lol!) 2. Use flat ribbon wire. (#6 is popular). The flat ribbon wire covers more wick area, which theoredically(sp) holds more juice. It's also great for having less hot spots for some reason. However, it is a bit trickier to set up.

That is a good OHM to have with the VV type devices. If you were using a mechanical mod, I would definitely lower the resistance (less coils). The higher the number of coil wraps, the higher the resistance. The higher the resistance, the longer it takes to sizzle. BUT, some flavors prefer the cooler, gentler, resistance. Some mods, like the VV, also prefer the higher resistance coils. The lower the number of coil wraps, the lower the resistance. It will sizzle as soon as you hit the button. Recommended with mechanical mods. (mechanical mods don't have an AMP limit like the VV's do. But, the batteries have an AMP limit, so it's wise to know your particular batteries amp output. IMR-MNKE batteries, for instance, can pull 20 amps I believe it is. I'll have to double check the facts, so don't quote me). When you pick up another genny, you can do like the rest of us do, and have one set up with high resistance and another at low resistance, so you can test each out with your particular juices, and mods. Shoot, I rambled, and forgot the question. I should have hit the "quote" button.

The flavor will increase as the wick seasons. That's why we love our well seasoned wicks so much. Give it some time. For a hotter vape, actually a faster sizzle, just remove a coil or two as needed. Have you checked your OHMs since breaking it in? I bet it's increased.

Congrats Rixter!!! Your post brought mist to my eyes, I'm so happy for you. Right on! The tall screw in the first pic, is for Silica wicks, for those who prefer silica. haha, okay, I don't have a clue what they're hoping to accomplish in the second "wtf" pic. That's just crazy. (imho).
  6. Did you pre-season your wick? Sometimes that helps to fast-forward the wicking and flavor. (drip juice on wick, light with bic, let fire die naturally, repeat 2 more times). The wick and coil look nice. I can't tell if there is any airspace around the wick and the wickhole though. Try rolling it just a 100th's of a fraction smaller and see if that helps with the wicking. if it still won't work right, (sometimes this happens even with the pros who've never had it happen before), go ahead and try the silica dangle thread trick. Or the Bluegrass's cotton trick. Good luck! Wish I could help more.

    Igo-L Dripper

Good to know that even the regular bits work for that. I watched the VapingGeek video (Dimitris) where the guy drilled out his cap's airhole and the amount of vapor released afterwards was so sweet. Hopefully they'll make the airholes larger in the future runs, but for now at least there is an easy fix. I know right. I love my Poldiac!! I got it from MMVapors.com. The Drip Tip was a surprise find at DiscountVapors.com (where I got the IGO-L). I must say, though, that DV is really stingy with their silica and wire. Need binoculars to find it lol.

    New to RBA's?

Every once in awhile, no matter how adept and experienced you are with RBA's, there will come a time when you have a bad atty day. When this happens, don't freak. Just get out the cotton ... Quick fix:

    New to RBA's?

Just when you thought you had a good idea of how to do it, someone comes along and shows you yet another way to set up the genny. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the funnest part about the SS mesh Genesis attys. In this next video, we get to watch Scott prepare the SS mesh genesis atty by using the pulsate method, without any preveious oxidizing steps. This method helps to keep your juice cleaner (especially good for those who don't refill their tanks a few times a day). It does have other drawbacks, of course, just like with any thing vape related, such as hot spots if (actually WHEN) your wick slides, jiggles, moves. You'll have to stop, re-pulsate the new area the coils are resting on, etc. I live on a bumpy road, so this method is not for me. Perhaps oxidizing just half the wick, the part that the coils rest on, would be better for my circumstances. This method, by Scott, might be perfect for your circumstances. Without much more ado, I present Scott setting up the Doodlebug: Some vapers like to first scrub the mesh with soap and water, rinse, then boil for 20 minutes, with water changes as needed). This replaces the flame method. Some do both the boil and the flame. Some just do the flame. Have fun!

    Igo-L Dripper

Talk about me being an instigator! Look what's on my Poldiac today, thanks to you. lol. Hopefully my delrin won't melt too soon. Shame they do that. I am liking how easy it is to taste test flavors. I still need to buy a diamond drill bit to enlarge the airhole. (thanks for the tip!). I have a feeling that I'll be saving up for an eBaron Spiral Drip Genny sometime this year.
  11. What type of mod are you using? The electronic ones seem to prefer 1.5 and higher. The mechanical mods prefer even lower. (just be sure to keep track of your battery life level and don't let the life get too low).
  12. Congrats!!! How awesome is this. Sweet! Your wicking is slow? Is the other end of the wick also at a 45% angle? The angle really helps to get the juice slurping. The wick is a little high, above your center post height. When you put the cap on, it might short a bit. Try cutting it either level with or a bit lower than your center post. The OHMs will increase as the coil breaks in. You're going to love how easy it is to just unwrap a coil or two, to get your preferred resistance back. This is so cool. I'm really happy for you!!
  13. Wait.... I didn't read the specs... is this the DNA20???
  14. Let me see.. Kick 40 bucks. Any mech mod. VW Vamo SS 50 bucks. VW/VV Can 70 bucks... decisions decisions
  15. haha, you'll be fine. Lesson learned, and all that jazz. Still.... I'm calling my bookie to place my bet
  16. Jeffb forgot to set his alarm again
  17. When Jeff wakes up, maybe he'll move the RBA threads to the RBA section of the forum.
  18. IGO-L + 3 drip tips on the way from DV. (one is in the shape of a bullet).
  19. Oh!! and always always break in new coils with 3.0 volts, or a dying battery at 3.6v. As it sets nicely, gradually increase your volts. Don't run it at great vape, until it's set in it's ways.
  20. Hang in there, you'll master it yet. Can you post a pic? Being a clone, your wickhole is probably spaced too far away from the positive post (center pole). This distance assures hot spots and popped coils. We want the wick to be as close to the post as possible, without touching. There are ways to achieve this. 1. add 2 washers (as shown in MSE's aga-t+ thread (size 2.5mm I believe, but don't quote me). 2. Wind the top tail wire back towards the wick. Wind it around the lead line that goes towards the center post. Hard to explain. Instead of clipping off the tail of the top coil after tightening it down, just wind it back towards the wick. The washers work the best for most attys, ymmv. Your goal, is to keep the wick straight and true, without touching any metal at all... Hopefully MSE will drop in and help to explain.
  21. Way cool! Welcome to the RBA world. Yours is a silica wick... man, I can't believe we forgot to add the silica wick types to the New to RBA thread lol... okay, dude, this will be your mission, should you choose to accept it. (after you're very comfortable with it all). Youtube is your best friend. There are tons of tutorials on all the various rba's. I haven't tried yours yet, the phoenix, but I do have an A7 that still needs tinkering with, and I have an IGO-L on the way. (it's a dripping atty, holds 20 drops or so, and is silica wick and should be great for tasting juices). I'll come to the thread to learn from ya! Go gettem!!! Igetcha69 is a great teacher, and so is AltPetServ and ... oh you'll see, there's just too many to mention!
  22. Honey, nobody is pushing the "more expensive ones". They push the "safer" & less quirky ones, and they usually cost only a few dollars more. Clones are a great way to learn the curves with. It's everyone's own personal choice, but not everyone is aware of understand the diversity out there. It's worth waiting 5-10 bucks more for one that is usable for a long time, even after the learning curves are mastered. After the curves are mastered, the world is your oyster!! From clones to Hybrids and every genny in between. Life is sweet, yes it is. One of the cheap ones that are better than all the other cheap clone predecessors, is the AGA-T+(2) series. I'm not familiar with what you call "the genesis v2," .. but I'll assume it's the AGA-T+(2) or similar to. Joe!!!! You're brainstorming great! Especially for someone who doesn't even have one yet. You''ve so got to try one. oh, and ps, I'm not a pro LOL, I just have some experience with them & like to help others start theirs. . You're too sweet. Try Joe's tips, and if those don't help, then try rerolling your wick a different way. If you used a paperclip to create a small strawhole, then try a solid wick and leave air around the wickhole itself. As for me, I've had the best luck with a needle sized strawhole in the center of the wick, combined with a slightly snug fit in the wickhole. I leave my refill screws in all the time or they flood. YMmv Make sure: Your wick is straight and true Your coils are not too tight or too lose, just firm snug. Your wick isn't touching any part of the genny. (tank sides, bottom, cap cover, post, screw, base). Season by direct dripping onto the wick. Tilt it at 2:00 position until it's wicking well on it's own perhaps. Tilt it upside down, wait for a drip to drip out, fire the button, make vapor, release button... repeat.... Good luck!

I just stumbled across this e-cig article in Geek.com and thought you might enjoy it too. It's very well written, and would be a good read for the curious in your life. http://www.geek.com/articles/gadgets/what-are-e-cigarettes-and-how-do-they-work-20120726/ (please move or delete if this has been around the corner a few times already. It was published back in July and I just now saw it lol).
