be sure to use the correct amperage. I'm thinking about using a dc transformer that says 6v 1.8 amp. I won't know till I try but it should work. 2 amp is what you want(2000ma) and 5 volt would probably be better. There is a point where you could burn the e-juice. If this happens you mod is to powerfull and try again. Alot of car adapters are 500ma or half an amp and these won't work that well even at 5 volts.

Thanks Chris it all makes more sence to me now. I have several different 510 attys and batteries and I do notice differences with different combinations. I wasn't sure if one of my batteries is stronger than the rest or if it was the atty. I'm still not sure but at least I know there's more than 1 manufacturer and these parts could work to a different degree of quallity. I have had no problems with SLB attys but I agree that suppliers should advertise truthfully.

I find that extracting my own tobacco flavor gives me a slightly "swampy" taste. This is why I put a little pinapple in to sweeten it up and/or butterscotch to smoth it over. I would like to distance myself from tobacco all together that is why I created this topic. I also enjoy flavs like Midnight, Grape Soda, Dulcis, Coffee+Klur just to name a few but I still have a strong urge for tobacco flavors. I'm hoping to find or create something that would keep my mind away from Tobacco.

Dave, I've been looking for tobacco flavorings too. All I could come up with is a product that enhances tobacco flavor for spray-on use for real tobacco. I don't want to try that, it may not be suitable to vape. I am trying to make artificial tobacco flavor using different nut and other flavors. No luck yet. This is what I did do and it works well: I but a good pinch of pipe/cigar tobacco into a tea bag and put it in a very small pot and covered it over with VG; about 30ml. Put it on medium heat for about 20 min until you start to see some color in it. When it cools down just at nic., and water or EC and mabey some additional flavor. This has worked well for me. I have tried to extract the tobacco using just water but I think using VG works better. I've also tried both ways without the t bag and strained it after. That works fine. VG has a higher boiling point than h2o but it is not nescesary to boil it. I get good tobacco flavor doing this but watch out for what kind you use. Alot of tobacco is dipped or sprayed with stuff that may not be healthy to vape(or smoke!)

Days later I am still using the device I described above. It works great but the drawbacks are the "click" button on the end and the fact that I use two dissimilar batteries. This happens to more than 1 of my 510 bats but not to either of my mega bats. Who or what is SLB and why don't they get it right! I can't remember who I got the starter kit from or the other extra bateries but I know the mega's are from TW. I asume TW's are genuine, no problem with them. I thought it may have been my fault for flooding it but it feels good to blame someone else. I too am in the habit of making sure it is off before I put it down.

I always wondered what taste I would get if I mixed all my juices together. If it were colors of paint I would get brown. I'm afraid all flavors together might make sh#t. After all sh*t is usually brown. But if it tastes like chinese I might try it. But seriously, there must be some simple recipes that are worthy to be called good all day vapes. I made one using just butter rum and a little extra artificial butter + PG/VG base. Simple and tasty. All day... mabey not, but still a keeper.

I am a newbie too but I learn fast. I've been vaping since early Dec. and havn't smoked since Dec 30th. I've found that most flavors are novilty flavors that one might like once in a while. Others are good for all day or all night. My list is Dulcis, Midnight, Tobacco, French Pipe, RY4 and variations and modifications of these. I made a homemade French Pipe that is really good. I'd like to know how other people make good juice. How does VT give Dulcic and Midnight that "kick" at only 24mg? Mabey because they use more PG than I use, I don't know. Any additional info would be helpfull and appreciated by us newbies.

I think I've read every topic and all the replies in DIY E-Liquid Forum. I have been mixing with a PG/VG mix. I've also been mixing and modifying store bought juice. I found by adding butterscotch to any tobacco flavor works great. Even better is to add 75% butterscotch + 25% pinapple flaver combo to your tobacco juice. These are CK Products, they seem to work well. So do thier nut flavors but they are strong so don't use too much. Loranne has a bubble gum I like to make 0mg juice. Also good is Loranne brandy and butter rum. I've also made my own tobacco juice. I just read in another post where you can boil tobacco in water and boil it down to usable state. I'll have to try this. What I did was put a good pinch of pipe tobacco into a pyramid T-bag and put it in a glass pudding dish and put just enough VG to cover over it(about 25ml). Then put that in a pan of water and let it come to a boil(kinda like a double boiler). I let it boil for 15 minutes and the flavor went directly to the VG. I got a strong tobacco flavor and probably not much nic. After some 100mg PG I already had some good juice. I usually make high nic, medium nic or 0 nic. I'd like to know if anyone else found some flavors that work well together with or without tobacco, with or without nic. and also if citric acid and/or everclear should be used. I've tried lemon juice and stong vodka. It helped to thin it out and maybe enhance the flavors but no noticible improvement on the throught hit. I'm also looking for a nutty flavor combo(no tobacco) that will be topps. I mixed black walnut, almond and pecan and it was pretty good but to strong. If anyone has a nut recipie or any other that they think is really good, please share.

I got a bottle from Party Cake, a small familly run buisness in my neighborhood. It's from CK products(CK butterscotch is a great compliment to any tobacco flavor) 20 fl oz bottle for $7.98. I'm good for a couple of years!

3 days with my device and all is well, same atty throughout. I put a meter on it and this is what it says: (it was not fully charged but still working good) volts=5.43 The 3.7 alone=3.8 the 1.5 bat=1.33. I don't understand all this especially when I check for amps. both bats read 4.5 the aaa reads 2.5 and the 3.7 reads 14. Once again I'm telling you this could be dangerous and experiment at your own risk but now I know I'm getting good voltage and good vapor this way.

I've just done that and it works. I'm gonna use this for a while and then fully charge the 2 bateries and put a meter on it. I'll let you know what I find out. I'm guessing 5.7v Try this at your own risk and be prepaired to fry an atty. I have to say, this is working as good as ever now that I've jumped one space. I've got alot of hours on this atty, I'm surprised it is still good after all the abuse.(2 days)

The whole idea is to up the voltage a little. I found that 2 aaa and 1 3.7 IS a little too much. I'm gonna jump one aaa and put a rechargeable 1.5 in the last spot. what I have using 2 1.5 and 1 3.7 works because they are weak batteries that came with the flashlight. When I put stronger bats It is too much. I'm no expert but I think one special 3.7 and one reg 1.5 rechargeable would be safe and not higher than 6 volts on a full charge like I have it now. It is wise not to do what I did mixing these bats but what about this idea? By the way, I'm still using my original design and it's working fine after replaced a strong aaa with a weak one. I'll let you know how it turns out but so far so good. I've used the same atty the whole time and haven't killed it yet even though I put too much power through it a few times.

I bought a small led flashlight from Big Lots for $3. It has a round aluminum body and holds 3 AAA bats. I took my junk 510 PT and used the threaded female fitting. placed it in a fender washer and put it in the hollow flashlight. Here's the catch.. It works great if you use 2 AAA batteries and 1 3.7v lithium. I tried using 2 3.7 +1AAA and it bunt the juice. 3AAA and it won't work at all. By replacing that 1 bat with a 3.7 I get a great vape and it lasts for 4 hours. I know I must be around that sweet spot between 5 and 6.5 volts. I've used it heavy all day long with no problems. This is my fist experience with anything over 3.7v and I like it. Anyone handy should be able to make this mod fairly easily. You could probably use a dead bat for the fitting also. This thing works great and it's not to big. I'll try to post a pic later, my PC has a virus. Gotta go.

I just love happiness! This thread nearly brought a tear to my eye. I just thought I'd follow up on my experiments... I used 100mg PG & 99.5%pure Vg (almost 50/50) a couple drops of vodka 22%flavor including loran butter rum and Wilton butter flavor. I get really good vapor and great tasting juice with a kick-but TH. And whoever said it will taste better after a day or so was right. I made something similar with just brandy flavor and that's great too. I made bubble gum today and it tastes like Bazzoka Joe. I can't wait till tomorrow when it is fully dissolved together. I find that PG/VG mix works fine but next time I might try all VG. If anyone was wondering I estimate about 30 mg on what I made. I would have given you the exact drops but I lost the info. I made them in 3ml containers. It's real easy with the online calculator. Thanks to all who posted!

I hear a lot of talk about volts and watts... Where does amps come into play. For instance, I have a usb/car adapter that says 5v +-5%, I understand this. It also says 500mA. which I think is half an amp. This is not enough for a quality vape is it? It works fine because it keeps the in-line bat. charged but I don't know how many volts I am actually getting. What would be the best mA for 5 volt and for 3.7 or 4.whatever. In other words, Where is the sweet spot? P.S. I got my grape soda and midnight in less that 2 days. These guys are on the ball!

Actually the vapor is good. I think I had a week bat. I think I did good on my first attempt. I'm curious about the 5 volt thing and the proper mil.amps. I'm happy with 3.7 but I want to be more happy. I notice a slight difference with my PT and it charges my 701 cigar bat too. If I were to cut out the bat I would get 5v at 500ma max. I think I read somewhere that I need 1500-2000. Does this change with different voltages such as 4.5, 5,6 etc.

I can't wait to vape at a higher voltage. I have a 510 and a PT. The PT has the battery in line and I think I'm not getting more than 4 volts. It doesnt work on my PC but I use it in my car. the usb adapter says 5v and 500ma max. Can someone tell me where the sweet spot is? Especially the amps.

Thanks, you people have been real helpful. Here's another chance for you to be even more helpful. What can you tell me about the base liquid. Do you ever add water or alcohol? Does the VG need to be thinned out or hydrated? I just got my supplies in today and using the calculator I made 24mg "Coffee" and "Brandy". I used 100mg PG the rest non hydrated VG and about 20% flavoring. I made about 3ml each and they came out real good. I was wondering if I could do better with what I have. I also used 3 drops of vodka in each. They vape good and taste good but a little light on the vapor.

Hi Michelle and Dave, This is some really good info. I was wondering how much(if any) nicotine you are using and whether or not you desire a throat hit. Also I understand that PG is a better medium for flavor. Do you use any VG for flavor or vapor? I've got supplies on the way and this info would be helpful. I am getting along good with High or low levels of Nic. I've been off analogs for almost a month(25 year smoker). I'd love to hear about any misc. tips. Thanks,--Mike

Just to clarify this. I charged the original battery in my cigar battery charger. I've used the usb port to charge my ipod and other things so I know it works but It doesn't seem to work with this passthrough.

Now it killed the battery from my cigar. I let the PT battery charge over night and it is in now. It is working but I'm starting to think that my computer isn't charging it or the battery drains when the computer is off or sleeping.
