New Carto Tastes Like Plastic
DAYVAPE replied to Vapmiles's topic in Troubleshooting & Technical Issues
Only thing I would try if you have tried everything else... Once it's filled with juice, stick something down through the center and gently wiggle it back and forth and side to side several times. (I have used a large paperclip with one end bent out... and have also used a small nail as well. The nail works better because of it being more rigid.) I do this a lot to kinda "re-align" that tubing/wire that runs down the center and also clear the airway if I've been using it for a while. Opens it right up, and loosens the filler, so it will absorb juice better next time I top it off. If they don't line up properly they won't vape well... will become clogged easily making it harder to draw on... and will end up 'scorching' the juice giving it that awesome crispy/burnt taste we all love! Other than that... I think you might just have better luck with the ones you've already used... if they survive the cleaning/boiling that is. -
'The Perfumer's Apprentice' flavorings is where it's at!!! Good stuff.

Started Dripping Today. I Think I'm Stopping It Today Too
DAYVAPE replied to Sheff's topic in Modders Forum
Couldn't agree more!! I never let one go dry on me either... I may work one down halfway sometimes, but that's not often. I like the juice tasting as fresh as possible... so that keeps me "POPPIN' AND TOPPIN'" quite often... but it doesn't bother me. It's STILL my preferred method... and even after the eGo "TANK"... SANK! -
Ah, he finally sold off that garbage... I mean flavorings!

Started Dripping Today. I Think I'm Stopping It Today Too

Another vote to stick with cartos w/ drip tip! Just remember to keep em wet and you'll never have to worry about that "burnt atty taste" you are sure to get dripping. At least that's how I treat mine... carry around a bottle drop a few drops every once in a while. I don't even like the taste of a carto that is going dry. -
I feel your pain.

Just to add... I used to NEVER smoke menthol analogs. But now I add a dab of menthol flavoring to nearly every single fruit flavor just to get that extra 'kick in the back of me throat.' Give that a try... you might like it!

Ego Tank Conundrum (And New Carto Issues)
DAYVAPE replied to AimeeG's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I don't feel like the Tanks are all they are cracked up to be honestly. I get that slight burnt taste no matter how many taps or twists I give them! Oh well.... BACK TO OLD FAITHFUL!! -
Most excellent review Todd!

You should definitely give cartos a try! All I use on a daily basis... as some folks on here know.

What To Do When You Loose The Tip Cover To Your Cart/carto
DAYVAPE replied to Sharon's topic in Modders Forum
First thing I toss is the little white part... and insert drip tip ! -
I think a lot of folks are going to realize that they go through more juice than originally thought. I can dry a tank in no time flat... but I'm sure diggin' em! Now I'm hopin' for a little lower resistance atty in the near future.
-
I would highly recommend that you NOT get 100% VG in cartos. It's simply too thick to wick! I would advise you try a blend of PG/VG if at all possible... which most vendors will offer. I do know though, from my experience, that VG ends up being too thick for cartos when I have tried it. I use cartos all the time... and 100% PG all the time.

I have a feeling you will need to purchase online... I've never found them anywhere else at least.
-
My bad, I must have been recalling the "standard resistance" cartos(yeah I know, big shocker there huh?), as they are the 2.8 - 3.0 ohm ones! I did find this though: Joye 510 Atomizer: Low Resistance (approx. 1.5 - 1.7 ohms) Standard Resistance (approx. 2.2 - 2.5 ohms) High Resistance (approx. 3.1 - 3.3 ohms)
-
Well, hell yeah Juliery, if I was going through 5 - 10 a day and THROWING them away, then I'm sure I would have been looking for some way to lengthen the life of them. Just too bad you got swindled into having to buy new/prefilled carts every damn time! That's a total ripoff if you ask me, just my opinion here though. I never once purchased the prefilled ones since I was rather sure I wouldnt like the crap juice they were putting in them. I wanted to have control over what I was putting in my cartos!! At least you have found what works great for you... THATS what it's all about around here.

High voltage atomizers are approx. 4.5 ohms resistance... and they were made for use with 6v+ mods. Standard atomizers are approximately 2.8 - 3.2 ohms resistance... and they are intended for most other vaping anywhere from 3.7 up to 5 volts. The LR version has a resistance somewhere around 1.8 - 2.0 ohms... and, as you now know, were meant for use at 3.7v.

Wow, that sure sounds like a lot of unnecessary work on such an inexpensive little thing. I know, everyone has their own ways of "makin' it happen" for them when it comes to vaping. I just know that I personally wouldn't/don't take the time to clean my cartomizers. Now, on the off chance I decide to use atomizers all of the sudden, I would certainly entertain the idea of cleaning them. I just don't think they were meant to be boiled for some reason... who knows, to each their own I suppose. As long as whatever you are doing is working... GO FOR IT! Thats whats crazy about vaping... being such a new thing everyone comes up with all sorts of crazy methods for doing different things. I love seeing some of the stuff people think up!

What Do You Do With Left Over Flavors?
DAYVAPE replied to easilyamused's topic in DIY e Liquid Discussion
I find myself using up my leftover "just ok" juices when mixing up other stuff. If I think that it will not affect the flavor in a negative way I will often times blend it in to the new ones. Although strong flavors like clove may be sitting alone in my juice box for a long time since it is a strong flavor that will most definitely shine through in whatever it's mixed with. As far as storage... we all start small it seems and end up upgrading to larger "tackle box" type storage containers as they work really well keeping everything organized nicely. I have a couple of small storage containers that have now been upgraded to larger sizes. The only real negative I've found using a tackle box, is that I got that funny little laugh from my wife in the beginning, when I was spending hours just organizing stuff and making sure it was all nice and neatly placed. I guess I kinda looked like a little kid on Christmas... all excited to play with my new toys and stuff. The "new" wears off in due time though... just so ya know. -
For what it's worth... when you get a carto like that again and it has a really hard draw, etc. That typically means that the airflow hole/path is blocked off somewhere. The easiest fix is to bend out the end of a large paperclip and stick it thru the hole in the threaded end and up and out the mouthpiece end. Then you can grab a hold of the end sticking out the top and gently wiggle it around and straighten out the filler so that the hole centers up and then try vaping on it again. Just a thought if you got another one like that in the future. Oh yeah... I placed my order for the eGo Tanks/Atty today! Can't wait to try! I have this funny feeling that I'm immediately going to wish that there was a LR version available! I'm so used to vaping higher voltage, etc. that it's pretty obvious when going back to 3.7 volts. Oh well, we'll see.
-
That's the way I'm understanding it anyway. We'll see how it works once Jolly gets his in and reports back on how it's working out for him.
-
VG is probably too thick to run through the atty and properly clean it I'm guessing? I don't know... sounds like too much work for my lazy !
-
Oh my goodness, O is so right about the analogs. They truly taste horrid after you have been vaping for a couple of weeks! I definitely didn't complain about this or see it as a bad thing. It just made it THAT MUCH easier for me to continue vaping. And, no, it never changes either... analogs will always taste like butt from here on out I firmly believe.
-
Sadly, that 'slightly burnt taste' will be accompanying your juices every time you vape. (I certainly hope that it does go away for you though) That's why everyone is having to mod the things and put a larger tube on it, then re-install the wicks/coil/etc. Supposedly, the wicks are getting pinched up against the sides and not allowing the juice to wick properly. I don't know it that is the true reason... but people are saying that it goes away once you have a larger "tank" to hold the juice/wicks/etc. I'd personally like to grab up one of those MAP TANKS from Bruce... just need to get around to doing it.

To be honest, at least for me anyway, cartos will work much better after all the juice has had a chance to saturate the filler properly. I typically fill up a couple and put the little rubber 'condoms' on and let it sit thread end down overnight (or longer) before I start using it. If you fill one up and try to use it right away, you could very possibly get a 'weak' or 'burnt' kind of taste. I think this happens to alot of people when they first try a carto and then they make a post about how the flavor is crap in cartos vs. atty's, etc. For me personally, it's actually better flavor/vapor! You should just try filling a few in advance and letting them sit until you area ready for them. And it won't hurt them to be sitting there like that for quite some time actually... the longer the better I have found.
