Believe me...I've tried to find a good non-tobacco to go with a good craft IPA. So far, I've been less than successful. Thankfully, my "go-to" flavor preferences are all tobaccos. Interestingly enough, I do enjoy a beverage-flavor after a good meal!!! Citrus, creamy, fruit, and coffee flavors all have their places. However, I really like Cola. It naturally pairs with any meal....especially BBQ!!!

+1 You really don't want to hear about rebuildable atomizers (RBAs)....they've ruined my life, and they'll ruin yours too!!!

No. Generally speaking, eGo setups are proprietary. If you're talking 18650 batteries, you're looking at MODs at this point. Since everyone else is recommending Spinners / Twists, one of the best variable voltage mods you can get is the Provari. However, that thing is EXPENSIVE!!! And, since you're just starting out, I'd recommend a Vamo as they can be found for around $30, and take 18350, 18490 / 500, and 18650 cells. Personally, I prefer mechanical mods with low resistance atomizer heads. But that's just me....I've only been at this Vaping thing for a few months, so what do I know?? Welcome to VaporTalk, and your new life!!!

We don't know that yet.... I once saw an old Camel cigarette advertisement from the 1950's that read, "More Doctors Smoke Camel Cigarettes Than Any Other Brand." Even though all studies done thus far have yielded encouraging results, we need to remember that Vaping is still a relatively new thing. And, just like that Camel ad, we will not know the full extent of the damage Vaping can cause to the human body for at least a couple generations out.

I started vaping 26mg for the first week, but it was too much. With as much as I was vaping (mostly direct-dripping as the old-school cartridges sucked), that high of a nic strength was making me ill. So, I halved that strength (also got a few clearomizers), and went right to 12mg. Now, for the last five months, I've been quite happy with the 12mg strength. It allowed me to vape all I wanted without becoming sick from too much nic. And in my happiness, I picked up a Genesis-style rebuildable atomizer, a mechanical mod, and discovered a whole new world of Vaping!!!! Imagine being comfortable at one particular nic strength for a long time, then all of a sudden taking a vape that bumped your nic to the next level without warning. The Genesis is like that. Even a 1.7 ohm coil build will put you in your place quick enough. Now, the cool thing about rebuilables is that you can control how low of a resistance you want. When your coils go beneath 1 ohm, the power of the device increases exponentially by the 0.1 ohm. That comfortable strength turned "swift kick in the arse" now becomes the very thing that'll knock your d*ck in the dirt. My coil builds are around 0.8 ohms. To put it simply, there is not a variable power device on the market that can match the output of something like that!!! Hence, why I'm gonna stick with 6mg, or none at all. :p

6mg nic....unless I'm not Vaping on a RBA. Then, its 12mg...unless I've rebuilt the coil. Then its back to 6mg. If its a flavor I'm trying out on a RDA, then its 0mg....unless its a tobacco flavor, then its back to 6mg. For an average day, I'll go through around 2ml of liquid.

I am looking for the ultimate setup
CascadianExotics replied to Raven1's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Oh, in case you were wondering: My setup consists of mechanical mods, and rebuildable atomizers. Personally, I have found this setup to be the most cost-effective, and reliable system. For a couple hundred bucks, you can amass enough gear to last you a couple years. And, if anything goes awry, it is almost always easily repaired as the entire system is only as good as you set it up, and maintain it. However, I absolutely DO NOT recommend this setup for beginners. It requires a good deal of research, patience, attention to detail, and some experience vaping under your belt before even THINKING of going down that road!!! When I started, I got a basic eGo / clearomizer combo. I highly recommend this setup to start with, and I still love and use mine to this day!!! -
I am looking for the ultimate setup
CascadianExotics replied to Raven1's topic in General Vaping Discussion
The tricky thing about your question is knowing what you're looking for. That's something you have to answer for yourself. Do you want a basic e-cig, eGo, or mod? Variable voltage or something straight-forward? What are you comfortable with holding in your hands, or carrying around in public? You can ask a dozen vapers what their ultimate setup is, and you're going to receive two dozen answers. Every device has its dedicated fan base....and some of these fans can get quite zealous about their devices. I don't know how many times I see lost newbies looking for advice, only to get a hundred people screaming in favor of their preferred device with little regard to the needs of the person asking. My best advice is to go to YouTube, and look up Pbusardo. He's a pretty big player in the Vaping community, and a trusted source of information. He put out a video at the beginning of this year called "The Beginners Guide to E-Cigarettes." My suggestion is for you to watch that, and let the information sink in. At that point, you'll be armed with a better idea of what is out there, and what questions you should ask with regards to finding your ultimate setup. -
Depending on if the T2 has eGo cone threading like the Kanger T3, or comes 510 native like the Stardust / CE* style clearomizers, and whether or not the mod you wish to use has eGo cone threading. For example: I know most mechanical mods do not use eGo cone threading, and therefore require an adapter. However, the eVic (I also think the newer version Z-max, and maybe the new version of the Vamo) does use eGo cone threading, and will support most devices using that thread system.

One of the coolest things about Vaping nowadays is that it is becoming more accepted. Finally, vaping has found a real presence due to some of the bigger players (Blu, Njoy, and now Fin) running prime-time television advertisements. Of course, there will always be a few people who are still of the "it has the word 'cigarette' in the product title, so it must be bad" mentality. And, just as the sight of an e-cig prompts questions from the curious, it will also draw ire from people....mostly current smokers, and the ex-smokers that quit "the hard way," and view e-cigs as "cheating." Thankfully, that mainstream presence coupled with the dedication of those who take time to educate, and the vapers who abide by societal courtesy, few people even care about being in the proximity of an e-cig anymore. Not to say that being a human fog machine will not attract any attention. Being so comfortable with your Vaping toys at home that you forget to trade out your mod for your less conspicuous eGo when going out in public can have unexpected results. Trust when I say that if you're blowing obnoxiously voluminous clouds off a Genny sitting on a full-size mech right in full public view....you most certainly will immediately become a subject of curiosity. A quick walk to the corner store preceded by a brain-fart is all it takes. Just keep it chill, and eventually we will be allowed the same freedoms smokers were once tolerated!!!

Sounds like you got burdened there, Uma.... If you really can't find room on your mod shelf for that satin poldiac, I'd be happy to take it off your hands!!! :p Seriously, though....Mega Congrats!!! -
Could you post up the link you found?? I'd like to take a look at it, and maybe try to decipher it, or get one of my more scientifically-minded friends to do so.

Great analogy!!!! I'm a bit like that caterpillar, myself. Let me break this down for you. Theoretically, more VG=more vapor. However, you can get little vapor from 100% VG juice, and conversely get a ton of vapor from high % PG....all by using the right (or wrong) combination of equipment. Vapor is made by heating e-liquid, and drawing air across the heating element. Thus, more heat + more air flow = more vapor. Heat is produced by sending electrical power to a coil of resistance wire. More power does not necessarily mean more heat. 5 volts (the maximum a Spinner will put out) across a 3 ohm (standard resistance) coil will only produce around 7 watts of power. However, a fully charged Mod battery (4.2 volts) across a 0.8 ohm coil will produce over 22 watts of power!!!! This power is all for naught if you do not have the proper air flow. More power means you need a more airy draw on order to take advantage of the heat produced. What this means for you is this: If you get a standard eGo (3.5 volts) with a Low-Resistance cartomizer (1.5 ohms), and learn to properly draw off that setup, you will produce a ton of vapor in no time flat!!! Hope this wasn't too confusing for you. :p

Welcome to VaporTalk, and your new addiction!!! You'll thank us later when your wallet recovers. Personally, I recommend keeping things simple and cost-effective. There are a myriad of devices, and Vaping styles out there. Any one variation added to the pot (ie: variable voltage, like on the aforementioned Spinner / Twist) will just add to the confusion for someone just getting into this hobby / lifestyle. The first three things you need to know are: 1) how to properly draw off an e-cig 2) your nicotine strength tolerance 3) your "go-to" flavor Standard eGo kits can be bought cheaply enough just about anywhere. Surevapes.com sells multi-packs of cartomizers at dirt-cheap prices, so you can get boxes with different resistances to play with while on the hunt for a good juice flavor, and nicotine strength that suits you. After mastering the art of the draw, and nailing down a cartomizer resistance, nic strength, and flavor that suits you, the sky (along with the cash in your bank account) is the limit!!!

Came across this video on YouTube. Has anyone tried this yet??? Thinking of getting some to test out. Looks much easier to work with than mesh...

Wow...that is a beautiful piece, Mark!!! I dare say, this would be the perfect display for the vaper who has everything!!!

Woo-Hoo!!!!! With all the site problems, and over-inflated popularity of Alien Visions e-juice, I'm feeling like I won the lottery....I finally get to try Boba's Bounty!!!! There is a 30ml bottle on the way to my doorstep with my name on it.... -
You can also go to http://www.IBtanked.com and look around. They mostly sell DCT (carto) tanks, but also have a selection of glass tubes for a variety of applications (I think they may have one for the ViVi Nova). Or, they can custom make one for you. All of which are sold at very affordable prices.

What's the best website to get Dekang e liquid?
CascadianExotics replied to KimJongUn's topic in General eLiquid Discussion
Don't know why I'm encouraging this, but http://www.vapelite.info has a good selection of DK juice at super cheap prices. -
Getting there, Uma!!! Wish I could say that I were completely confident and comfortable with Gennys, but I know that I've a long road ahead of me. At least I have the cumulative knowledge of people like you and Rix to learn from and make that road much more smooth going....for which I'm eternally grateful!!!!

Thanks again!!! My liquid was getting pretty discoloured. So, I took the unit apart and cleaned everything. The wick took to the new flavor well, and setting up a new coil only took 2 minutes at most due to the existing wick already being pre-oxidized at the top. The coil metered at .8 ohm and looks prettier than the last!!! :

Alien Visions vs. Alien Vapor Boba's Bounty?..

Many thanks, guys!!! Ok....so, I got one more question. I know this sounds totally stupid. And, its probably one of those blatantly obvious "common sense" things that I'm known for just "not getting" even though I know better, and the answer is staring me in the face. But.....um.....how often do you guys clean out the condensation on the top deck, and cap?? Also, how often do you clean your tank and wick??? (See....told you stuff like that tends to escape me, LOL!!!)

"Tanks" usually require cartomizers (exceptions being eGo T & C systems, cartomizers, and Genesis atomizers), and thus, one should know how to prime a carto....which is the same thing as filling one. As for the original question: If my memory serves me correctly, cartos were originally designed to replace the old 3-piece (battery, cartridge, and atomizer) systems. If you're using a 510 or some other penstyle / mini battery, then the cartomizer is a good choices to provide that "seamless" look. You could also use one on a standard eGo with the cone and drip tip, or use a mega carto designed to seamlessly fit on the eGo. Outside of the seamless look, or what they were originally designed for, a cartomizer can also be used in a tank, or on its own for convienience. Some people believe they have a less muted taste than a clearomizer. They are certainly less maintainence than a clearomizer, as you can toss them once they've ran their course. They're a lot cheaper, too.....$1.25 for a carto vs. $2.50 for a new vivi nova head. I guess it comes down to personal preference, and what you're willing to deal with.
