  1. Glad you don't like it.....it's one less person in the AVE queue!!! More Boba's for MEEEEE!!!!! :p On a serious note, I was able to order 100ml no problem. Got it in the mail last week, and its been steeping ever since......sigh...... There is a trick. Memorize the number, expiration, and security code of the card you wish to order with. Log on to AVE about 5 minutes before opening, and get your wishlist ready. Once they open, your wishlist gets put in your cart, so all you have to do is hit the order button. Also, my browser has my card number, so all I have to do is type in the first 4 digits, and BAM!!!! I'm there!!!
  2. It's been attempted many times, but never duplicated. Though, it would be fun to try!!! Since they use naturally extracted tobaccos, anyone ever thought that AVE gets their flavor by extracting a pipe tobacco blended by a professional tobacconist??? I mean, they recently ran out of Boba's flavor for two weeks....and it takes about two weeks to steep tobacco in VG to draw out the full flavor. And (from what I've read of this method), a mere 1oz of tobacco will yield about 30ml of extract, which will yield around 150ml of e-liquid.
  3. For $45 its not a bad start towards an affordable hybrid!!! My finger has been on the trigger since I saw it a couple weeks ago..... But, like Uma, I'm hesitant.....at least until I see a couple reviews. I'm also wary of the anodized aluminum, as some people have had problems with their Octopus caps bleeding the anodized color into the juice they were using. Though, that can be sanded down.....but it leaves the raw, porous metal exposed.
  4. One of the most beautiful songs ever written: Solstafir - "Fjara"
  5. Not necessarily.... It's all in how you use the device in the first place. If you're gonna drip with an HH357, or use a carto tank, or clearomizer, there really isn't much danger in using a mechanical mod. You can also purchase mod fuses, or a Kick that will turn your mech into a regulated device. On the other hand, if you want to use rebuildable attys, then you have to be prepared, and might want to consider building your first coils on a regulated device before going straight mech. My first mod, was a mech. My buddy bought the K100 kit for his first mod. I jumped headlong into sub-ohm genesis builds, and my buddy followed suit. Neither of us have blown our hands off with our mechs, and we sometimes push our batteries pretty hard. In fact, MANY people without engineering degrees start with mechs and gennys, and do just fine. Again, its all in how you use it, and how prepared you are for how you are going to use your device. To summarize....the K100 / K101 are great devices, and provide the best value for the buck. Unless you do not like the look of them, you really cannot go wrong!!!!
  6. My first mod was a mech. But, then again, I am one of the few people who just do not get variable voltage. Variable wattage makes sense...just set it, and let the chip do the calculating for you. But, if you can figure out how to fine-tune your setup by adjusting the volts in 1/10th increments after checking your resistance, and either consulting a chart, or memorizing the table based on what resistances are offered for any given device....then you can most definitely figure out how to rebuild a no-brainer genesis like a RSST using a silica wick, or any dripping setup out there.
  7. Daily Driver #1: 650 mAh standard eGo (the old-school one without the 5-press on/off feature) with Vision 2.0 (CE5) clearomizer. *note: this is my old daily driver, and one I still use when between setups on my regular daily driver posted below.... Pros: simple, easy to use, doesn't require any special tools to fill, the heads can easily be taken apart and rebuilt, and no one questions what you're puffing on. Cons: unit goes off in your pocket, the clearo will leak if it even THINKS it will be going in your pocket, the heads cost $2 a piece to replace and never meter out to their purported resistance, and (possibly a minuscule nit pick for noobs, but a huge one for me) the draw is way too stiff for my liking. Daily Driver #2: Sigelei #8 Mechanical Mod + RSST w/ Igo-L for dripping Pros: simple operation....push the button, and get mad clouds of vapor!!! Plus, the flavor is so much better. And, you can set things up to your EXACT specifications, with duplicatable results....or feel free to experiment. Your vape is only as good as your setup!!! Cons: Your vape is only as good as your setup.....this can be a very bad thing if you have no clue as to what you are doing. You REALLY have to do your homework, and research the hell out of this type of setup just so you don't screw something up, short out your mod, and risk personal injury. Also, this setup increases the effectiveness of the nicotine strength, so you either have to switch to a lower dose, or vape yourself sick. Finally, everywhere you go, people question if your mod / RBA setup really is, in fact, an electronic cigarette.
  8. He could be using old batteries, coupled with low-resistance units, picking up the PV every 5 minutes, and drawing to the battery's max. He's also been Vaping for quite some time, too. Personally, I use up a 2000 mAh 18650 battery in around 8 hours, and go through about 3ml of juice a day.....then again, my atty is at 0.8 ohms, and I take huge pulls thanks to drilling out my airhole to 1.6mm...which is still too tight, IMHO. Whenever I go back to my eGo setup, it feels like I'm trying to drink a super-thick milkshake through a stir-stick.
  9. Uh, oh....Uma's mad!!! Excuse me while I duck and cover... :p Honestly, this is good reading. I'm learning a lot more about batteries. So, please continue!!
  10. After watching at least 3 or 4 videos independent of each other of Panasonic CGR cells being hard-shorted, and only getting warm where the AW IMR cells practically exploded when undergoing the exact same test....I think its safe to say, I'd prefer the ones that merely ran a small fever in my mod!!! :p Besides, all the data from battery review sites confirm that the CGR cells can withstand substantial abuse, and still perform strong.
  11. Note: I'm not a battery-expert, nor do I play one on TV..... All I'm saying is that this is TRULY an exciting time to be Vaping!!! (Sorry for the second post....the forum wouldn't let me edit my previous one for some reason)
  12. Uma is a wealth of knowledge, isn't she?? My only addendum to this thread would be this: KNOW YOUR BATTERY!!!!! I realize the topic of researching your battery's exact manufacture specs has already been covered in this thread. However, I feel it important enough to reinforce the point. Another point that hasn't been covered is that you're using a new-generation battery.....which may account for the strange behavior. With the advent of new technology, the information we currently know about the batteries in the Vaping world is slowly becoming obsolete. From what I understand, Orbtronic batteries perform really, REALLY well. The Panasonic CGR18650CH also outperforms AW-brand batteries on all levels. Their NCR-series look really promising too!!! And, recently, Sony released a 30-amp 18650 cell...putting ultra high-drain batteries into the "affordable" category. AW's have been the gold-standard amongst Vapers for quite some time. However, times and battery chemistry are changing. Safer cells, higher-drain, and more mAh are now of the order.
  13. An 80's Applause?? Nice!!! I have an early-90's model, myself. But, it hasn't been played much since I got my classical a few years back.
  14. *That's what she said* Congrats on your purchase!!! These drippers are great for getting your feet wet into the world of RBA's..... On a side-note, I got my second coil build up and running. Think I'm getting better at it, because it only took me two hours, four attempts, about 6-inches of Eko-Wool, and my Igo didn't go flying across the room more than once!!!!
  15. Yeah, that brings back memories. They still had them at some grocery stores when I was in high school. So, we would go hit those places during our lunch, and get as many packs as we could before the store manager would chase us off. Then, we'd run back to the park, and sell those packs to our friends for an upcharge. True dat!!! My girlfriend keeps urging me to get a "man-bag," as my pockets are usually overloaded these days, LOL!!!
  16. Yeah, here in Oregon, the prices have more than jumped....but are still lower than they are elsewhere in the country. To be honest, I avoid looking at cig prices....it just makes me sad that I wasted so much money all these years that I could have saved, or otherwise appropriated for better use.
  17. Yeah, I've tried it....for the same reason that it was the first one, though their formula has changed. I think Janty's RY4 is supposed to be closest to the original formula. There are honestly better RY4's out there. The Dekang was overwhelmingly full of perfume, and had this chemical taste that triggered something in my brain to question if smoking a cigarette would actually be safer than vaping this juice. Funny thing is that I've recently tried DK again to make sure it wasn't my noobish taste buds, and nothing has changed. The chemical taste is what ultimately puts me off, but others seem to really like the stuff. To each their own, I suppose....
  18. If you're not sure you want to play again (yeah, right....I know its killing you inside), then the El-Cheapo No-Name Craptastic Beginner's Wonderbox will do you just fine until you make the inevitable decision to return to where you belong, and buy the damn Ovation. Honestly, if you can afford to drop the cash for the Ovation, you can afford an extra $150 to "see if you still like playing."
  19. Neither am I.......but, I do want that drip-tip, LOL!!!
  20. My mother taught me to be eclectic, and at least appreciate and respect music from every genre. Pick out the good stuff, and leave the rest. However, Post-Rock, and Post-Metal have been floating my boat recently. Solstafir, Junius, Chasma, and Wolves in the Throne Room have been in my regular rotation for the last few months, combined with a little Doom from Ea and Sabazius, with some Post-Black from Elysian Blaze. Almost like listening to chamber music with a Metal-edge....
  21. I bet your wrap was better than mine, LOL!!!! When it comes to Genny's, it has become so easy to wrap a beautiful coil. But, when it comes to RDA's......I have soooooo much to learn. BTW: the W is SWEET!!!! I almost bought one because it looked so good on my Sigelei #8.....maybe once I master the Igo-L......
  22. Just bit the bullet, and went to my local vapor lounge, and picked up an Igo-L..... Of course, I cannot leave well enough alone, and drilled out the air hole to 5/64".....seems to have cleared up any inflow issues caused by the hole sitting lower than the wick. Honestly, I'm fairly happy with the purchase, and now need to get better at working in such a tight place. My first RDA build vaped well (3/2 wrap of 28awg kanthal for 0.8 ohm), but looks pretty sad, LOL!!!
  23. You really must have gotten your hands onto some REALLY bad / outdated Boba's, or your tastebuds have not returned (it seriously takes a few months, depending on how heavily you smoked)........or, it really could be that you are genuinely in the minority. Sometimes, it takes a tank or two before any accurate judgement can be made.....that one happened to me with VaporTalk's Dulcis. Obviously, foreign made liquid....most of which I detest, but it grew on me after two or three tanks. Sorry to be blunt, but your tastes WILL change as time goes on. And (as I've learned from personal experience), juice should not be judged on one taste early on in your "Vaping career," as it were.
  24. Given that I'm a musician, I'd have to say "yes." You can listen to my band here: http://www.Facebook.com/Aethyrium
  25. Worst flavors I've tried would happen to be Dekang and Vape Station liquids. Both manufacturer's liquids are really perfumey, and VS' tobacco line tastes like analogs. Wicked Vapor (not Totally Wicked) sold by Vapor Pros has that dirty analog flavor in their tobacco line as well. Best flavors would be....Boba's (obviously), Ginger's RY4 from TVR, and I really like the cola & mt. Dew flavors I've tried. Also, TVR has a Sweet Watermelon that tastes spot-on to the real thing!!!
