Me too! About time we had a thread that felt natural! Hodgehound you're right about electric. When I was a kid I built and flew u-control glow plug planes; I loved the dizzy side effect! And rebuilding balsa aircraft, I guess. Electric has made the whole RC thing much more benign and even (depending) much less expensive. I have some old fuel engines though that are wonderful works of engineering and art; I kind of feel like we've lost something flying electric. Well, or not; it's sure fun! You're getting me all worked up to go flying man, and it's been too windy the last six months to even think about it. (Hence the sailboat idea I guess.)

This is cool, I love this forum! You guys all rock. I'll get making some good stuff this weekend. Don't have much hardware, but I do have Girl Scout cookies. And lots and lots of juice stuff. VS, good luck on your mission today, looking forward to hearing from you again. Thanks for all you do.

No kidding man, light electric has changed the whole game! I love that stuff.

Hodgehound! You fly RC? Or drive or sail? For a long time I flew electric heli and loved it; I'm just such a klutz it got very pricy for me. I'm looking for another living room flyer now, then when the weather gets good will get the big bad boy out again... Edit: I've really been thinking about building a nice RC sailboat. I think that would be a blast. Mount a camera in a glass bottom and on the bow, and go to town! So to speak.

Okay, count me in! This is awesome, and VapingSoldier and all your compatriots, we're here for your support as much as we can be. You guys rule. I'll wait to see what to send where (is this stuff going to be collected at one point like Ouster's or sent willy-nilly in a bunch of packages?). I'll send liquid and some cartomizers, for sure, maybe other stuff. I can send a boatload of liquid though. Hm. What strength liquid, VS? I vape the heavy duty stuff, need to know what flavors and strengths to make. You guys are getting some fun stuff, I can't wait to get started!

Once in a while I read a post that makes me wish I could give more than one +1; archangel that was one of them. As far as I'm concerned you're a saint and a magician. We are lucky to have you here. Thanks for your post. Edit: I think that should go in the VT Book. -
What Flavor Are You Vaping Right Now?
ddavelarsen replied to kitsune's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Sounds awesome Prof - this a DIY flavor? You share recipes? -
Yeah, that's what fear does to people. Fear is debilitating. If all humans made their choices based on fear or risk aversion, we'd still be eating carrion. Buncha wussies over there. Thanks for the support GDub.

I just can't let this one go even in someone else's thread, and the stupid forum won't let me use three quotes. There must be a reason for that ... but naturally there's a way around every rule. Pffft! Where'd you hear that bit of folksy logic? Meester, I gotcher "blind squirrel" right heah... -

You don't have to admit anything nana; the cat's out of the bag already. What, you mean I might rub it in? Moi?! Okay you guys, back on topic! Before Jeff gets out the fish too. Archangel, I wish you'd explain to my wife that many devices and attys and flavors is important to getting the full experience and satisfaction from vaping! She doesn't yet understand this, which has a negative impact on my collecting buying habits. Passthrough, you've gotten a lot of good advice, I'm curious how you're feeling about now. Is your head reeling? Mine might be. I think Archangel's advice to try different strengths in your first order is a good idea. If you're rich, you could try different strengths of the same flavor to really see how nic affects liquid. That's something I haven't yet done, but planning to now that I'm DIY almost full time. There are so many experiments to try! Good luck and vape on. -
Wow, that is interesting. This is the kind of secret that the liquid vendors know. Thanks for the insight GDub.

I've seriously been thinking about buying some pure nic from China. That would be a little scary to handle, but proper clothing and protective gear should make it relatively safe. It'd sure be nice to have that much more control. I liter of pure nic is less than $300; about the same as 100mg locally. That's just too inexpensive not to consider. Like GDub, I'm totally digging being able to mix the proportions of all the ingredients to my own hardware and preferences. That makes vaping truly an enjoyable experience, like I used to have mixing my own pipe tobacco flavors. Those were sure the days! It occurred to me today that vaping is very similar in its hands-on nature to smoking a pipe. I really kind of enjoyed that for a few years. Finally gave up my pipes at a garage sale a few years ago. I had some nice ones too! Sigh. Well, someday I'll have a nice collection of working PVs too.

It's the same as every other nic base. I've been using it for a few weeks and there is no difference that I can determine. I'm sure glad I stocked up, but keeping the stocked level is going to be more expensive again. I'll just replace every four oz, which won't be too terribly expensive. For as long as we have a supply...

Way to go Brian! And I have it on good authority that nana also has seen the light with regard to her 510s on the PT. You guys are rockin it on! -
Nope; same here. I carry five or six cartos with me when I go to work, and if one starts getting dry I switch it out for a different flavor. Going between a couple cartos during the day helps immensely.
-
It's gone now but Levy's pink nic was the best deal we'll ever see. Other than that, MFS has had very good prices lately. I probably won't have to buy base for a while though, I have almost two liters of the stuff. No, not just my own use, I'm mixing for a couple vapers. But even so, that should last a couple years even at the high nic level we use.

I saw that coming a mile away BD! Yeah, I think VT grape soda has to be one of the all time favorite flavors, not just grape flavors. I'm kind of with DAYVAPE that most flavors from anywhere could be quite a bit stronger though. Maybe that's just from so many decades of smoking, I can't much taste liquids I haven't made myself. But I have to admit I've never built a satisfying grape flavor; just going to have to rely on Chris for that. (Someday, assuming I get my nic level down enough. )

Since you've gotten such great advice already, I'm just going to disagree with some of it. That's my perogative, and I enjoy exercising it, as those I'm disagreeing with will agree. Let me say that I started with 801/302s and swore that's all anyone needed. But I kept hearing about 510s and finally, to get these people put in their proper places, I tried one. Never looked at another 801 again. I think a 510 atty is the best of all possible worlds. The barrel is tight enough to keep the vapor contained, so it's warmer - more like smoke - than that from an 801. Its vapor production is equal to an 801 easily and might in many cases exceed it. The jury is still out on that in my book I guess. The TH from a 510 far excels that from an 801 as far as I'm concerned, which is why I lean that direction -- even on my VP PT. Brian and nana might say they prefer 801s on their PTs, but don't listen to them if you're wise; I'm right on this one. I don't know how much you smoke but given the brands you mentioned (I'm assuming full flavor) I think you're gonna want to feel the vapor. You won't feel it much from an 801, even, in my opinion, on the PT. You should realize that the VP PT puts out 5V of power; much more than a regular 510 or other standard ecig. So starting with that, you will want to ensure that your eventual battery unit is also a 5V device, or you'll be dissapointed. Trust me on this; after getting acclimated to 5V, nothing less will suffice. You asked about dripping -- I can see you've been doing your homework! Here's the short story on getting juice to the atty coil. Most attys expect that you'll use a cartridge of some form to 'store' liquid to feed gradually to the atomiser. This works very satisfactorily for many people, but most of us direct drip. That's when you drip the liquid straight onto the atomiser, not using a cartridge or any other intervening method for storing liquid. Direct dripping has the advantage of providing a consistent amout of liquid to the atty, along with consistent flavor. The downside is constantly dripping. But that's really no biggie. You will hear about 'drip tips' which I highly recommend. These are simply a mouthpiece with a big enough hole to drip liquid straight through and onto the atty. Get a few to keep around, you'll be glad you did. One thing I won't disagree with is FTJoe's suggestion to consider just quitting smoking. Perhaps you're like me and won't be able to quit very simply, in which case you have made a wise decision to give vaping a try. I'm not sure I would recommend 0 nic unless you plan to smoke in between vaping, as you will probably feel a lack of nicotine without it. But you are in a good position to begin go cut back on the nic quickly, and we all would recommend that. Good luck with your vaping adventure, and let us know any questions you have. You have made a wise choice and found the best possible forum to ask your questions. There's no other place like VT. ------- Hey, great to hear from you again Dr J! -
Roll it out TrueLove! Way to go brother, that is awesome. What a cool thing to do and share, thanks! Paying it forward, saving smokers one at a time.

Oh man, I think 6V is the golden mean for vaping! I can't even vape 5V anymore. I just had to massage my juice to make it work better at the higher voltage, and all is good in ddave-heaven. This almost makes me think I could use the Joker with happiness!
-
You got em from the right places then, I'd say your life will change for the better when you go VP PT. But then I think you're gonna want to motivate around with that carto, so then you'll either be looking for a HV batt unit or a portable power source for the PT. There's no shortage of things we need! Good luck Mainspring, and vape on!

I feel your pain on that one Tek. It took me a couple years to negotiate the learning curve, and switching when I go to work every morning took even longer. My recommendation: Finder is key, F9 is your best friend. F11 is your second best friend. But I don't know how that'd work with dual monitors, you must be a god or something. And yeah, I use OOo because I can't bring myself to give M$ any of my money; not ever. Most people don't realize how deeply corrupt and dishonest they are, but I do and they haven't gotten anything from me but spite for like 12 years. And never will. Okay, soabbox off! Congratulations on joining the good guys!

Where have you gotten yours Mainspring? I'm pretty sure all mine so far have come from ENS, and they've been very consistent. I got one a couple days ago with too tight a draw, but that's the only one out of 20 so far that I've had any issues with, and it works fine other than that. I would tend to say that these are strictly a HV option though; I tried one at 3.7 and I was totally 'meh' about that too.

Great review Tek! Thanks for the heads up. Never used one but often considered the XHaler. Button placement has always been its downfall for me though. I'm really glad to hear how cool NHaler is with their customers; that's very important. Nice Mac you got there! But was that -- gasp! -- M$ Office I saw on there?! Oh, say it ain't so! I do dig Chrome though. We have our docks arranged almost as a mirror image of each other, which I thought was a hoot.
