  1. What a ****! Can I say that here? (Guess not. )
  2. Here's just -- good will to all! Hang in there guys, it will improve. For what it's worth, I've been running Macs for the last 12 or so years and every one I've just given up for a new one, because they never freakin die and nothing ever goes wrong with them. You can get tired of using the same machine year after year. My computing experience has been totally stress-free since I left M$ and commodity hardware behind. People say Apple machines are expensive, but when you can run one 24/7 for five years, the daily cost is pretty low. Not a fanboy, just pragmatic.
  3. I think this is the article: Medicine: Toward Victory If it helps, there's a little "link" icon above the text area, just to the right of the smiley. If you click that it will let you paste in the link and your title for it. Vape on!
  4. Yeah, way to go! All the converts we can get are a good thing for everyone.
  5. Hi nana; actually I've done that a couple of times today. Makes for a much nicer day! But no one (other than that one time) has given me any grief about vaping at my desk, either. Which is kind of nice when I'm feeling really busy.
  6. Yes, the fine motor skills kind of escape me for the first couple hours too. This thread has been very interesting for me. I used a device similar to this for another purpose in my youth and found it very unsatisfactory. So it's nice to know the technology continues to improve. Good luck with your investigation! I look forward to future developments.
  7. I'm too new at this to know when to replace carts or attys yet, and that's something that's been a concern for me too. I guess I'll know when it starts tasting like ... something bad. But how will I know which it is? Guess I'll experiment and find out. Like a lot of other things I do, I kind of kludge the refill part. I usually drop once on the atty (801) and two or three on the cart. That's enough for a solid vaping session of six or eight hits, which is about equivalent to a smoke break for me. I've been smoke free for several days now and I'm digging it! Still, the worst part is not leaving my desk every hour or so to sit in the car smoking and reading ice age archeology papers. I'm afraid I'm going to get dumb again! But nobody really cares a great deal about ice age people anyway. Ever tried breaking into a sports conversation with some slick new insight about Folsom land use? Okay I'll shut up.
  8. Now that's cool. I think McQuinn might have a good idea too; try to offer different flavors until she finds a flavor she likes (though while smoking I can attest the flavors don't come through like you'd think). I was pretty adamant that tobacco was what I wanted, but a couple of the flavors I've tried (still can't really taste them, but I'm patient ) have been kind of interesting. I like the idea of getting my nicotine need filled and having it taste good too. For sure, pushing her to switch is gonna get the opposite effect from what you desire! None of us understand women, but I sure understand that much! Maybe you could try keeping it away from her - yours only. I can say that even after having quit analogs for months, soon as I started vaping my wife was all over it. Good luck! We'll look forward to meeting her here.
  9. I'm sure glad folks are find this a valuable story. Sorry it took me so long to fess up. I admit to being a little embarrassed about it.
  10. Might be time for a little DIY nic reduction. You could actually nail your desired nicotine level pretty accurately if you were of a mind to get into that. I figure that should I ever start reducing it that's how I'll approach it, just to get that custom level I think I'll want. Have fun and vape on!
  11. Ain't that the truth! We have same-age grandkids who spend not-quite-enough time here on the weekends. Between fighting for computer time and keeping the printer full of paper and ink, I stay pretty busy in here. Why do little girls want to print every page from the Barbie site? I finally gave Ashleigh a three-ring binder (is there a theme here?) and turned her loose with the paper punch just to save myself some mess. Or did I? There are paper dots all over the place now...
  12. That looks truly fine, good job guys! I'll wait for the regular stock, let all you experienced folks enjoy the preorders. That's just the kind of guy I am. I watched a few juice reviews too, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I wish VT offered juice in the strength I use, but I can understand concerns about people overdoing it and getting sick or whatever, and blaming the supplier rather than their own dumb selves. I know that's why so many suppliers only go to 24 mg, but that's just far too wimpy for my aged and hard-worn bod. Gotta notch it up to make an impression on this well-used, oft-abused unit. So I'll stick with my happy heavy nicotine level for now and look forward to the future of possibly reduced requirements. Good stuff, thanks to everyone for sharing their experience!
  13. I was about to say "Okay you guys, what's a Spade?" but it sounds like VT store has em, so I'm going looking.
  14. A week or so back I was going out to my car to have an analog - needed to get away from my desk more than I wanted to smoke, actually. Anyway, I laid a three-ring binder down on my desk and got up to leave. When I got back, my immediate coworkers rushed over to me and asked what that "cigarette thing" on my desk was that had caught fire... Yikes! They said a huge cloud of smoke was coming off my desk and when they picked up the binder found the PT underneath. I had obviously laid the binder down and pressed the switch on the PT. The cartomizer was a hollow blackened shell, everything melted out of it with a pool of juice on my desk. The binder has a permanent melted scar. That could have ruined vaping for everyone in the company; might have gotten me in a whole lot of major trouble...perhaps cost my job. So this goes to show that we must be very responsible with our stuff. Nothing can be taken for granted. I personally have much to be thankful for, and getting by in this case is a big one. Thanks for reading.
  15. From everything I've read, I'm sure I'll be adding a 510 to my arsenal sooner than later. Going to have to get and break in my VP2 first though. I've also found that the passthrough is the way to go at work, for sure. If all my USB ports at home weren't crammed with a bunch of other stuff that's what I'd be using now. I guess it's going to be time to invest in a larger USB hub too.
  16. Way to go keenan!!! That's a great story. And Jeff's right, word of mouth between family is a major factor. It's how I learned about ecigs; I had no idea such a thing existed before my brother turned me onto them. So let's keep moving it forward and saving our loved one's lives and money.
  17. Thanks Jeff! I'm rather proud of myself. I quit once for five years and dozens of times for a couple of days, so we'll see how it all goes. But vaping is the answer. I will tell everyone I meet that wishes to quit smoking to give this a try. My VP2 shipped Wednesday, so it should be here tomorrow or for sure on Monday. I used my brother's for a while yesterday and really like it. I'm psyched!
  18. Gotcha, your brief sidebar info indicates that. You sure have to appreciate how the web brings so many people closer together. A lot of people take that for granted but anyone my age who grew up in a small town in the middle of nowhere sure wouldn't...
  19. Welcome to the forum DannyBoy! Yeah man, that would be fun. My brother and I have been wondering whether a local VUG (Vapor User Group) could catch on. Software folks have highly successful user groups all over the world, maybe this would be a good way to exchange info and possibly become a local representation for vaping generally. Living in the state capitol, we have access to our congress critters fairly regularly for one thing. Does anyone know whether there are any similar groups in other cities?
  20. Now that is setting a good example. Started out with Clove from myfreedomsmokes.com but that just wasn't cutting it - so I'm back to my fav 555, also from them.
  21. Just wishing everyone who lives in the US at least, a Happy Thanksgiving! My plan is to not get too bloated, but I'm not making any promises. We have much to be thankful for, and I count you all among the first. Thanks for all you do.
  22. Steve, given the likelihood of the FDA shutting this whole thing down I don't think there's such a thing as too much juice - or any other supplies. While juice does have a shelf life, I think a large stock of your favorites is a reasonable idea. Just my .02. I'm with you on the 555; it has that great nutty flavor that just can't be beat! I dig it. My brother's been vaping a coffee flavor lately and really likes that. I'm going to give it a try today myself. Vape on!
  23. You know, I had a great reply going and messed around and lost it. To summarize, I'm a 555 fan too, my VP2 is on the way, I really dig gadgetry. Oh - and Speakeasy I forgot to mention originally that I smoked those Pall Malls down to the nub. My fingers are still stained. Yikes.
  24. Thank for your concern. But believe me - I've been a high-intake nicotine addict for 40 years. I smoked two packs of non-filter Pall Malls a day, and it was not enough nicotine; it's just all the smoke I could take. Vaping the 48mg is letting me squeak by without analogs, so that's a good thing! But even at that, it's just barely cutting it. I tried 36mg for several weeks and almost threw in the towel; it just wasn't sufficient nicotine. Maybe when I get a PV that generates some real vapor I'll change my mind, but for now I'm happy at 48.
