  1. Major Congratulations nana! That makes my day. I'm looking forward to hearing how you like the LB 801s too. Mark, try to resist the temptation... You know how much sweeter finally making that connection is after waiting, waiting for it...
  2. Jeff that's an interesting question. I agree that ultimately, the ideal hit and volume will be achieved for me; will I then go looking for a more stylish or custom unit? Maybe. I don't have the resources to just buy whatever I want, so find myself thinking long and hard before I buy anything. I don't expect to get another PV for quite some time; first I'm going to get stocked up on essentials for what I have. Next it's going to be a VP PT; maybe two so I don't have to carry the one between work and home. I am looking forward to this technology maturing. I'd like to see quality attys that are consistent and not so finicky. Automatic juice delivery would be so fine! The thought of having to drip while driving is a serious concern. I've tried it, and absolutely do not recommend it. The whole thing just adds a new layer of serious risk that wasn't so extreme as simply firing up an analog - although that's pretty risky too when you remember all the close calls you had. Long-term juice delivery would be my first priority. When that becomes commercially available I'll be first in line.
  3. Can't say I've gotten tired of it, but it's all still very new for me. Like Christopher I get a bit frustrated when things are not working the way I want -- I really want that big throat hit every time. Doesn't work out like that in real life though. And like Sinikal I feel like the whole rigamarole can get to be a bit much occasionally. But I figure I'll eventually get the process down to a nice efficient habit and all will be well. When I went to the grocery store a few minutes ago I was actually thinking about buying a pack of analogs, just so I could get that major throat hit. But by the time I'd left the store I had forgotten all about it and my excellent VP2 gave me happiness on the drive home. I do think changing up the flavors might be a good idea. I'm kind of limited at the moment but will increasingly get in better stock of a lot of stuff. Switched back to 555 this evening and remembered what I like about that stuff all over again. Mmmmm.
  4. Wow Christopher, the thought of reading every new post is a chilling one! But I understand that you'd both want to and need to do that to keep an eye on things. That's one of those issues I'd never thought of going with the responsibility of running a forum. I must say, you and your staff do a fantastic job here. I really mean that.
  5. I suppose that eventually I will try different devices - who doesn't love new gaddets anyway? For now I've settled on just a few drops more often and that's working pretty well to keep the mess down. I was more concerned that I had defective attys than anything, but I no longer think that's necessarily the case.
  6. "Peppery" is a good description of it Jeff. The whole idea of vaping something rich and sweet after meals is very appealing. I'm going to give that a try. Good stuff folks, thanks!
  7. Let me add my little Welcome too Ray! You found a wonderful community. I admit to having gotten a charge out of the language around vaping too but it's quickly becoming my regular mode of speech. You'll find that a lot of the terms used in vaping are interchangeable with the 70s too. Dig it. I was a 1.5 - 2.0 pack-a-day Pall Mall non filter smoker for almost 40 years when I took up vaping about a month ago. I've been smoke-free over a week now and not looking back. What a fantastic change it's made for me. I'm blown away. Starting to feel better already, and no nicotine withdrawal (once I found 48mg juice, which works for me but seems not to be recommended). Good luck, ask questions, try different techniques and combinations of devices, and share your experiences with us. Vape on!
  8. Welcome Galex! I haven't much to add to what's already been said, so just enjoy the experience and ask away. This is a great bunch of dedicated people. (Edited for grammar. )
  9. Hi Travis. This forum does have a "new posts" option, it's a link near the top right of the home page. I've started using that a lot. One of the things that kept me here, or made me feel at home here vs other ecig forums, is that welcoming feeling I get from all the regular posters. I'm a member of a couple of knife maker forums and man is it true - size matters. When forums start getting too large or popular, the abrasive segment somehow seems to take up more space. Not so here though; it's all goodness. That probably is due to quality moderators. My hat's off to you all. I think the one thing that's impressed me the most too is what SmokinHammer said up front - everyone groks grammar around here and knows how to spell! Dig it. It was Christopher's excellent videos that brought me here, and there have been so many more that for me they are one of the most valued parts of the experience. But you folks are all well-spoken, and that sure makes for a more enjoyable place to hang out. Have you noticed though, that it's pretty much the same couple dozen people that do most of the word work here; probably like other forums I guess. I know there must be many lurkers soaking up the experience and knowledge so freely shared, but I always enjoy hearing from diverse people. Everyone has a unique perspective and experience that we can all benefit from. Bring it on, lurkers! I hope I don't get too off topic too often. I have noticed that I tend to share more about my everyday life here than possibly others appreciate. Please, rather than just shrug and let it go, if anyone ever thinks I've gotten too far off track just slap me upside my virtual head and bring me back around. Okay? This is a great community. Thanks to everyone who has been so patient with so many of my dumb questions, and in such a short time! Have no concern; I'm full of them and there will be more to come.
  10. Yeah, well, leave it to me to do everything the hard way.
  11. Okay! I found it on You Tube: VP PT REVIEW BY BUFORD! V 1.2 Buford, that's freakin awesome!
  12. Say man, I'm relatively certain that I haven't seen this one, and I need to. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks!
  13. Hm; great idea! I'm really digging flavors, so I'll fit that in my next order. It never even occurred to me. You folks rock. Thank you seaspine. Keenan and nana, our best friends are special, aren't they? Nana, I think a Great Dane might be our next dog too. I love them, always have. At a recent 'pet expo' locally, I got the business card from a group that does Dane adoptions, and I'm lobbying pretty heavily in that direction. Keenan I've only been around a Dachshund once, and she was the "cuddliest" dog I've ever known. I'm a pushover. Mammals are so cool. Lucy is half Shar Pei and half Lab. Funny looking dog, but so sweet all you can do is love her -- because she loves you. She really is something special, no bias included. When she was just a few weeks old her head was about as big as her body, and her lips were most of her head. She pretty much just walked on her two front feet. Sometimes we had to hold her butt down so she could get traction. Back on topic. Possibly one solution to my vapor-sting after eating is -- not eat! Yeah, that's the ticket! I wish. Food is so good. Probably it's not related to vaping or quitting analogs, but I've had less appetite the last few days too. That is most assuredly a Good Thing. Maybe I'll become all svelte and cool because of vaping! Or not.
  14. That's great! Yeah, one person did ask me if my PV was a medical device. So I just explained what it was and kept on vapin'. End of story, except one more person is fully informed about ecigs and the general benefits to everyone in society. I never ask -- people are far more likely to go negative when they're given a choice; they're far less likely to make any comment if they have to initiate it. And the more common it becomes with the obvious non-issues of using it among other people, the more it'll become recognized and accepted. I have yet to meet anyone who took exception to my using it. Curiosity seems the order of the day. That and honest pleasure that someone has quit smoking.
  15. Yeah, the first one in the morning took me a while to get round to too. Now it's 'old hat.' But this taste thing is throwing me. Most days as I get old I'm becomming more convinced that my body is not my friend. I'll just be a hero and clean the kitchen or something after dinner, before I get to the PV. There's always an angle... On another front, it's amazing how I'm starting to feel better after only a week off the analogs. Happy Days, I say! Next thing you know I'll have more energy than the dog... Or not.
  16. Since I'm at work I'm obviously not going to check this video now, but don't take too long to put the replacement up! I dig video reviews - that's how I found this place to begin with.
  17. Keenan, like everyone else I want to wish your wife and you all the best. Hang in there. My prayers and good vibes are coming your way. I'm really pleased that the medical folks seem to be taking to vaping like they are. I've had similar experiences. Yesterday we took my wife to the Dr and I was vaping away in the waiting room and the consult room while the Dr was doing his thing, and no one said a word. I was rather pleased. I'm not a confrontational sort - in fact, I'm rather uncommunicative - so I'm not thrilled with the idea of explaining what I'm doing to anyone, but I'm also going to act like I have every right to vape wherever and whenever I please. Seems to be working for me so far. Again, all best to you both.
  18. One of the least desireable aspects of vaping for me has been that after-meal vape. Not so good. Maybe it's just me? Unless I wait half an hour or so to vape after I've eaten - anything, doesn't have to have been a meal - the vapor, for lack of a better description, "stings" my mouth. Does anyone else have this experience? I don't know whether it's a taste effect or what, but it's really not pleasant like an analog used to be. Just curious whether I'm alone in this one.
  19. Thanks gents, you have eased my day. I'll get some baby wipes and hide them somewhere around here so no one starts wondering about me any more than they do already. I know I had another question when I came to work this morning but it has escaped me. For now.
  20. I wonder whether this is even a problem but I'll see what you experts have to say. I've noticed that some of the LB 801s I have leak like crazy. More than a couple of drops on the cart, and it runs all down the side of my cool new VP2. Makes for sticky fingers if I don't notice it right off. And a puddle on my desk, etc. So I guess there are a couple of issues. First, is this common? I don't think I'm over filling the cart because it doesn't drip when I hold it upside down. But stick it in the atty and juice starts running out. Second, is there any danger to my VP2? I don't know whether any juice has worked its way into the vent holes but that's a concern I have. Note that this does not occur with the attys that came with the VP2, only with a few that I bought somewhere else (cannot remember the source right off, and that info's at home, which I'm not). My process now is to drip once on the atty and 2-3 drops in the cart. That seems to work for three or four good hits before I need to re-drip. Does this sound right? You can tell I've no freakin clue what I'm doing just yet. I appreciate any advice. Thanks!
  21. Exactly. No primer puff, let it out slow. I did that in the dr office today, and right in front of my wife's dr. I don't think he even noticed. That's how subtle I am.
  22. Actually man, Linux is getting there on the desktop. It's as reliable as OS X. And you can run it on commodity hardware. The GUIs are not quite as pretty or well integrated, and there are some learning curves for OSS software such as Gimp and Blender, but it'll do what you need to do - just a pain in the keester learning the apps all over again. But Linux and all OSS is free - as in beer and freedom. It's a good thing. Whenever this beautiful bad guy gives up its ghost (or maybe when I just get tired of it) I'm gonna get me a Linux box.
  23. I vape everywhere I go, and hope someone contradicts me. No, I'm not in any way combative - I just want an opportunity to explain what's going on. I've had people at work ask about it and they're all for it - everyone knows how hard I've tried to quit smoking over the years. Now I have. Hard to beat a recommendation like that.
  24. I think it's a great idea too. Perhaps it would bring a few more members out of the woodwork and into posting.
