  1. This is the first time I've been to this part of VT and I have to say after reading a while, that I've never felt so 'at home' sitting alone in my office as this moment. You folks - keenan, Speakeasy, SmokingMan, FTJoe, all the rest - are such fine and honest people I feel honored to get to sit here. Wow. So my post will probably feel like vanilla! I was half an hour late to work this morning 'cause I overslept. Anyway, I thought "What the hell" and took off half an hour early this afternoon. With all that extra time and hitting the road before rush hour I was just cruising along watching the telephone polls slide by, listening to Mars Hotel and vaping to my heart's comfort. Ah... Had it been a little warmer I'd have rolled down the window and hung my arm out. Vaping goes great with everything, and hitting that 555 with the tunes full (windows rolled up! no smoke!) was about as good as commuting gets. --------------------- Just side comments on a couple of the other posts I've looked at; I've been using Macs for about 12 years. It was an ethical choice initially but became an issue of security and, well, a 'pretty' GUI. These machines run forever. You'll get sick of looking at the same Mac everyday before you actually need to replace it. That being said, my next machine will run Linux. Apple's gotten a but full of itself lately (just my opinion but I vote with my dollars) and I just don't feel like I need them for the security anymore. I'm a vet and I believe in our soldiers. Not so much their various commanders in chief however. And like Speakeasy, I think we need to do away with the Fed and avoid RFIDs like the plague. I don't know how I'm going to avoid the National Armband Real ID though. Move to New Zealand? I often hear people say that congress needs term limits. BS! They have term limiters; we call them "voters." I vote against every incumbent in every election, and I will continue to do so until we've turned congress over and broken up the good ole boy's club. I wish you all would too. Then we might possibly begin to restore the Constitution to the United States. The two parties are clones in all important respects, so voting along party lines does no service to anyone. If you're interested in political parties that might make sense in this world, check out Modern Whigs. We need to restore the Constitution, and quickly. We have very little time. --------------------- Okay! My favorite Dead album is Wake of the Flood, which is weird because I'm really not fond of brass. Go figure. I love music but have too little time to listen. And even after all these years and so much great music it's still the Dead who play my tune most clearly.
  2. Yeah, that is a heart breaker. If you know any accountants, it can be almost the opposite situation. Try convincing one sometime that graphic design can make numbers more accessible... That white space matters, or that fonts can convey meaning, or that color can organize information. They will look at you like you're an alien. Thanks Christopher, I needed that today.
  3. Brian! Cool man! Thanks, that made my day. And Crepitus I agree - start your own thread so we can wow you with how cool vaping is. Welcome!
  4. As usual I'm pulling up the tail end of this one, but I'm with you too! Congratulations on your first week+ off the analogs. That does feel wonderful. As a heavy smoker myself for over 40 years, I never thought I'd be able to quit successfully. Vaping and everyone here pulled me through too. My hat's off to you, and I wish you all the best in the future as you begin to feel even better than you do today. You won't believe how much it's going to change your life.
  5. That's just what I was thinking. I know the day is coming when someone at my job is going to realize I'm "getting over" and make a stink. I'm going to have to order some 0mg juice to use for a decoy. I like it!
  6. Whoa! Man you are not kidding! That's cool! And yet another forum! Thanks mcquinn, that's great. Brian, I honestly do welcome any input on my little paper. It's meant as an introduction from someone its recipients will know, hence the personal point of view. I just want to be sure not to put any factual errors out there. Or any serious grammatical embarrassments.
  7. Amen... What a great attitude! We have people like that at my employment too. Some one inside the building once complained that they could smell smoke from outside... I don't know where they grow these people but I don't think it's on my planet.
  8. Taking the higher moral ground is always its own reward. I'm glad you had the integrity to pull it off. Now everybody, send me the power vibes so that when my time comes I can respond with as much aplomb.
  9. StringDancer, I too commend you for your consideration of the lady who found herself so agitated over imagined second-hand exposure to nicotine. My first thought was that she must not be so hypersensitive to nicotine that the vapor would affect her, if she wasn't already having a reaction. I suppose I would probably have put the PV away as well, but would certainly have been disgusted over the issue. Possibly have found a gracious way to leave the table. I've absolutely no tolerance for willful ignorance -- at all. Thankfully you are a good ambassador for our cause.
  10. Thanks mcquinn, that's excellent and I added a link to it. The glossary particularly is nice.
  11. I only mention this because I realized how inefficient it was for me to have to navigate to Vapor Talk every time I opened my browser, when it's the first place I always go. This is a good forum; thanks to everyone for all the help and support!
  12. That's pretty much how I felt too. Like it or not, we're going to have to rely on the big companies that have money to support these efforts even if their products don't measure up to what we believe is truly workable. Perhaps one day they will understand that a quality product means ongoing business...
  13. Thanks Steve, that's exactly what I'm looking for!
  14. While it's hard to say anything original after all the good wishes from our fellows, I would like to add my congratulations and added hope for good luck in your new life. I really appreciate your heart-warming story and your conviction to vaping. I know that you'll have great success! Vape on, brother.
  15. I'm working on a short intro to ecigs for coworkers and other people I meet who show an interest in vaping. I'll just make a CD with the document on it to hand out. Anyway, I want to include some data on battery life, along with a description of milliamp hours (mAh) as an objective comparison. So here's my question. Does anyone know where I can find data on mAh for other batteries? I'd like to compare common commercial units to the batts in more practical mods like my VP2. For example, my first ecig was a Vapor King from V4L (who is a great company). I'd like to find out more about the battery. Here's what I originally got, only with manual batteries. But I can't find specs on the batts. Vapor King Kit Does anyone know the model designation of this battery, in addition to its specs? Any specification data is welcomed! I'd also appreciate any feedback on my little paper, which is in the Campaigning subforum. Thanks!
  16. I've noticed some issues in typing and some info I failed to complete. I have a question, which I'll also post on the main forum. Does anyone know where I can find data on mAh for other batteries? I'd like to compare commercial units to the more practical mods like my VP2. For example, my first ecig was a Vapor King from V4L (who is a great company). I'd like to find out more about the battery. Here's what I originally got, only with manual batteries. But I can't find specs on the batts. Vapor King Ultimate Ultimate Kit
  17. Assuming I can do it, attached below is a text document that I prepared to give to a friend who has shown some interest in vaping. She has cut my wife's and my hair for several years and is a truly nice human being who smokes. I'd told her that I would let her try my VP2 the next time I brought my wife to get her haircut, and that was yesterday. Our friend tried vaping for the first time and seemed to find it satisfying. I gave her a couple of copies of a CD with an earlier version of this document to take home, hoping to save her and her boyfriend some of the time and money I spent getting to a satisfying point in my own vaping. I've worked on it some more this morning and would welcome your input in refining it. I plan to carry copies of the CD to give to anyone who shows even a modest interest in vaping, and potentially to the HR dept at my employment, whenever they become aware of e-cigs and decide to ban them out of hand. I'm not a great writer by any means. I'm primarily interested in corrections of my factual information, but I do welcome critical feedback on my questionable writing too! Here is a version in .doc format for windose users: Basic Vaping Info - windose format Here's a politically correct Open Document version for everyone else: Basic Vaping Info - ODT This document is released under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License.
  18. Here's a wonderful FUD-busting video discussing electronic cigarettes. You will enjoy watching this and will share it with everyone you know. Dr David Baron, MD - 12 min I'm sorry if this is a repeat or it should have gone in the Campaigning forum. Maybe we should put it there too.
  19. How cool is that! All this great improvement in our lives and our family time. Not to mention improved production in our jobs. I gotta say, vaping just flat out rules. Congratulations to all you folks too, for the health improvements you're experiencing. These are the kind of things we'll have to tell our congress when the time comes. I hope we will all stand together to throw our collective weight around!
  20. Amen. I'm all about being rational - well mostly. I'm only human, and I'm married. But boy, would congress ever be a better place if it were filled with thinkers rather than self-interested marketeers! I'd live in that world in a heartbeat. I do have one suggestion in that vein though - VOTE INCUMBENTS OUT! If anyone wants one, I have bumper stickers...
  21. Thanks folks! It's the end of the day and yes, I did take the stairs a couple of times more - just to see if it was true or I whether I was still half asleep when I came in. It's true! This is cool, I'm really very happy. Thanks for all the encouragement and help you've given me the last few weeks. My vaping experience is much better than it would have been had I not had your experience to benefit from. High Fives all around!
  22. From the BBC article: "The lung cancer DNA code had more than 23,000 errors largely triggered by cigarette smoke exposure. From this, the experts estimate a typical smoker acquires one new mutation for every 15 cigarettes they smoke." This article describes progress in finding the genetic changes in cancer cells and spells out hope for early detection and potential cures for lung cancer, among others. While this is not about vaping directly, it does show how harmful analog smoke is and gives some hope for our loved ones who may not yet have quit. Scientists crack 'entire genetic code' of cancer
  23. Same here. I'm a bit different in that I make an effort to get smokers to try the VP2. My wife's getting her hair cut tomorrow and the chick that cuts our hair was asking all about vaping the last time I was in. So I'm taking a new cart and a selection of juice tomorrow and turn her onto vaping. Trying to decide whether to make a list of forums and suppliers, or give her a CD or thumb drive with links in it. I hadn't thought about buying and selling starter kits, but that's a great idea!
