  1. May I suggest that you support your vendors by not returning stuff until you find the unit you like? Just suck it up and buy another like everyone else has done. And as others have said, you will want a backup unit. But honestly - that kind of wrenched my gut. I feel like we're more of a community than a mall.
  2. Ah man, my thought exactly! For whatever reason, I get nowhere near the nicotine from vaping that I did from smoke. I'm at 48mg, which seems to me almost as effective as a regular filter analog. But I smoked non-filters until I was about to choke everyday, so vaping even 48mg is a big reduction in nic for me.
  3. I don't know yet man, but I'm on a mission to find out. The PT that came with my KR808 kit was somewhere close to that and even with a lesser atty it worked quite well. It was very nice in fact. Can't wait to get a VP-PT - I just know that's gonna be the golden standard. Then I'm sure I'll start hunting for my own portable 5 or 6V device. I keep coming back to the Chuck on that but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Still waiting to see what all the rumored new units are like I guess. Not my time yet anyway. But that's coming.
  4. Actually, I did that last night too and I agree - it was a much more satisfying hit. I wonder if the atty being cool had anything to do with it? But even so, it's always cool in the morning, and the juice on it overnight did make a difference.
  5. You're totally welcome man!
  6. Somewhere among all my quit-smoking support info crap that never worked, I have a chart showing the changes your body goes through almost hour by hour when one quits smoking. A lot of that is related to quitting nicotine so doesn't equate to vaping, but most of it has to do with ditching the effects of smoke. Our bodies start getting back to normal within minutes of the last smoke, and that effect accelerates for several weeks. After that the rate of change tapers off for a few years but never stops until we're as close to as good as new as we can get. Our bodies are wonderful things, regardless how they may look in our respective stages of life.
  7. That's sure what worked for me Schizophretard - more nic seems to give a better throat hit too though I don't know why the would be true.
  8. Man we could be brothers! In fact, my brother turned me onto that one too and it's what we both started with. V4L's a great company, great service and quick replacement if anything doesn't work right. I liked their flavors too. Congratulations on finding what works for you.
  9. Yep, what they said. This is the one I started with, and my wife still uses it with great satisfaction. She hates messing with the VP2, so she just makes me do that. She totally likes the convenience of the KR -- I refill the cartomizers. Because she was a nurse and we know nurses, I first used a syringe to fill the carts from the battery end. That worked fine but was kind of creepy. Then I heard about popping the white end off and removing the rubbery o ring inside to fill them and that's what I do now. They usually take about 18 drops to fill, and I let them absorb overnight before use. I've saved all the plastic packing stuff, which works just fine to keep them fresh until use. I found that about two pre-filled cartomizers lasted a day for me. That's not much cheaper than smoking but it's a heck of a lot healthier! The refilled carts don't seem to last as long but it's a whole lot cheaper than using pre-filled ones all the time. I've refilled several carts four times and they're all still going strong. Vapor4Life is a great company with excellent customer service. Their flavors are pretty good too. I recommend them all around. The PT that came with my kit worked very well too. I really have been satisfied with the whole thing; just didn't put out sufficient vapor for me to get off the analogs completely. I'd recommend it for any light smoker anytime. Just my .02. Good luck to Mrs jmhester!
  10. This is in no way as crucial or interesting as DannyBoy's great info, but I had a conversation today that I wanted to share here and now have the perfect opportunity. My potential son-in-law is a high-rent welder; he does a lot of welding for flammable gas installations and in hospitals and the like. They often build refrigeration/HVAC equipment. We were talking about vaping and he's very familiar with propylene glycol. He said it's often used in hospitals as a coolant in the AC system because it's far less toxic than other alternatives, though it's more expensive. He said ethylene glycol has a much lower freezing point and is a lot less expensive, but not as safe. Pretty cool guy, actually; one hell of a welder. I used to work in the natural gas fields and knew a lot of pipeline welders; it's a seriously nit-picky job. A lot of their welds have to be x-rayed before they can be approved. Izzy does the same work, and I know enough about that kind of welding to know he's never tried to pull a story on me. I'm adding Danny's PG safety info to my vaping propaganda CD. Thanks!
  11. Hey Esmoker, I know exactly what you're talking about. I started with (what I now know was) a KR808 at 36mg of nic. It was not cutting it - unless I was virtually breathing vapor, and that was a serious pain in the neck. I'd smoked about 25 non-filter Pall Malls a day, sometimes more - and I always wanted more, just couldn't handle it. Anyway, I tried 48mg juice and that did the trick. Finally I was getting a sufficient amount of nicotine. I'm not advocating high doses; what I am suggesting though is that you might need to step it up a notch. You can always titrate down when you're ready. The key is to get vaping successfully. Also, a more powerful battery might well help. My second unit is a VP2; it's the cat's meow. I'm all happy now. Good luck!
  12. Hi Angel, that's a fair question. Too bad I can't give you a good answer! I suspect this can be variable. For me, it seems to be about two days of vaping, or about 4-5 ml of juice direct dripping. I've only used LB 801s and this is probably variable depending on the atty. It might even be different between attys of the same type; I haven't enough experience to say yet. Don't worry though, others who know what they're talking about will step in.
  13. Hi Uma, welcome to Vapor Talk. Sounds like you're having a good time; I'll go look for your decision thread too. I bought a VP2 based on Christopher's video and have loved every minute of it. It's a great device. Actually, it was Christopher's videos that brought me here - and I've loved every minute of that too. This is a good place.
  14. Congratulations man, I'm really pleased that you're pleased. You really stepped up, and that's cool. You cannot go wrong believing what the folks here tell you. Everyone has helped me through a lot of dumb questions and helped to make my vaping experience all it can be. I'm really interested in hearing about your Protege. I came close to making that my big batt too and still like it. I'm glad your wife approves too. We had friends over last night, and my buddy remarked how good the vapor smelled. When was the last time someone said that about a cigarette?
  15. Huh. First post I read at VT this year is this one. You set me up for the whole day keenan, thanks so much. You really are one of a kind, which is too bad for this world. We need many of you! Thanks man.
  16. Maybe you're right. That reminds me of Philip Morris trying to buy one of the big Chinese companies (I feel bad for not being able to remember which it was, but I just woke up and PM was rejected anyway). There's plenty of reasonable speculation that's why the FDA is holding off - to give PM a chance to lock in the market. Heh. Didn't work. I'm sure there'll be more of this too and eventually US made e-cigs that are more reliable and more expensive. But it's the interim period when everything comes to a halt while business and the govt are trying to figure out how they're going to best milk us that concerns me. Maybe though, like you suggest, there won't be that period of total non-availability if a bunch of US business gets involved. That would be great.
  17. You're right of course. But the thing is, it's the nicotine I'm most interested in! Stock up, stock up, stock up. Weather the downtime. It's our only recourse. We'll be back, we just don't know when. And honestly, I seriously doubt the FDA is gonna let us have nicotine juice, to do whatever we want with it. Much more likely we'll only get pre-filled carts when they get done with us. And where will that leave people like me who vape much higher concentrations of nic than the masses? Screwed, that's where... Even so, we'll find a way to not-kill ourselves with tobacco. I'm banking on it, which is why I like this investor so much. These guys are smart and they're thinking ahead.
  18. No way man, I have several I'd love to share. Just PM me your address and I'll get what you need out the next day. That pleases me no end. Happy New Year! Now it's bedtime. Whew...
  19. keenan brother, you have a completely full plate! We're not voting for months so no big hurry. Same goes for you Brian, we're all set for new times all around. Be happy my friends, and Happy New Year to everyone!
  20. Happy New Year DannyBoy! That's true enough; we will surely always find a way around any roadblocks regulators throw in front of us -- which is the only thing that gives me any hope. Between my stockpile and any loopholes we find I'm sure that we'll discover a way to continue saving our lives. How ironic is that?! I'm truly thankful that this investor believes enough in this technology to take such risk. Others will too, which can only help our cause.
  21. Cool Danny, glad you got it and I'm glad you like it. Hopefully other folks will start with similar statements. I hope your weather moderates, but I know what you're into. We've gotten dumped on this year; more snow in December than I've ever seen...
  22. Good point!
  23. Same here. Although I don't think anyone I've sent this way has come by. Or they'd be posting up a storm! I'm always amazed at smoker's resistance to vaping - and that is a real thing. My brother turned me onto it, but he still smokes often and doesn't visit this forum. I've given vaping info to a handful of smokers but they all still smoke, so far as I know. This is one of those things that you have to want to do. Quitting smoking is a heavy decision. Because we've done it with so little pain I think we tend (at least I do) to think everyone ought to. But the path of least resistance is a powerful force. And smoking is a familiar and comforting thing. But I remain convinced that Vapor Talk itself will help to convert many smokers, and I will continue sending them this way.
  24. Well, I've seen at least one grump get dissatisfied here and move on. I think it has everything to do with everyone being just generally nice - grumps feed on grumps. Other places, I've found that if you out a troll, they just go away too. Eventually. Vapor Talk is special, and what makes that true (just my opinion) is that the people who find happiness here are the happy people. I really have to think that's just an accident of nature, like an unusually beautiful sunrise. It happens, but it's not predictable and not replicable. I feel exceptionally blessed to like this place. Thanks Christopher.
  25. ... Well, except for the little droplets left in the eyedropper. There's just no way to get it all - which is just a fact of life, kind of like Murphy's Law or entropy. If you start thinking of all the stuff left behind in containers by juice suppliers it'll surely drive you crazy. But I never think about things like that.
