  1. Yep, it feels great to be giving people the tools to potentially save their lives. Now, if I can only convince my son and his girlfriend to give it a go... But they are stubborn!
  2. Oh man! You're breaking my heart! I wonder if there's any way to up the nic level in KPS without destroying its flavor? (Not that I don't love and honor Ripple, but that's another story.)
  3. Brother I can tell you there ain't no hiring going on, or I'd hire you myself. I was all set to move to a new job (actually, expanded role that have been lobbying for for years) but it got nixed in the 11th hour because they didn't want to backfill my current position. Economy will turn around eventually man, I have to believe it. Hang in there as best you can.
  4. Thanks nana - that was one of my more thoughtfully crafted sentences. Schizophretard, you're probably right about the limited amount of time that takes, and doing it daily would mean that you could probably get most everything that had built up off of it. It's a good idea and I can visualize the pillbox with all your parts in it. Sweet. Keep us posted how that works for the long term. Whenever we get our water heater replaced and get good hot water again, this is something I'll keep in mind. Very straightforward and no worse than filling travel bottles every day or two.
  5. As luck would have it, someone asked me if I'd been out at lunch to smoke (weather-related question), and I got to go off on vaping. I may have made a convert - for sure she asked for more info, and I've pointed her and when she overheard, another coworker, here. I hope we get some traffic from it. Felt good to tell people how successful vaping is in allowing me to quit smoking. I swear, vaping has changed my life.
  6. Why, sure! ... Ooops! Man I miss my Mac's constant spell checker! You got me good Jeff! I'll be smiling the rest of the day. I've never thought about buying 'booster flavor' either but that's a great idea. The vendor I get my juice from sells "extra flavor" juice too, and I've started buying that. It makes a big difference as my sense of taste hasn't completely come back yet either. But I think I'll try Loranns to see what I can find. Thanks kitsune!
  7. It's only getting worse - I'm really becoming quite concerned about our 'democracy.' From the article: “Mr. President, is it true that due to your amendment to Executive Order 12425, INTERPOL may break into a home without a warrant, seize private property of a US citizen, hold a citizen for questioning without the right of legal representation and not be subject to any legal or criminal repercussion?” Yep. Read it and weep: International Police Granted Full Immunity in US So much for "transparency," eh?
  8. I get so jealous when you guys talk about wonderful juice I can't have! I thought you were my friends. Good thing for 555 then, 'cause that's my favorite tobaccoey juice. I never seem to get tired of it either. Good stuff.
  9. That's a plan I could vote for! Particularly since I'm looking down the barrel of no-way-can-I-ever-retire. I was just starting to think about it when my 401K went belly up - for the second time, too. My father retired when he was a year younger than I am now. I'm looking at working another eight years at least. Who knows, maybe I'll just have to work until I die or they kick me out of here. At least I'm working and for a great company. (This morning I was in line at the cafeteria and one of the VPs saw me and bought my breakfast. How often does that happen?) I work four 10-hr days, so I get a three-day weekend every week; I get 23 days of vacation plus about 12 holiday days. I can pretty much take off whenever I need to take my wife to the dr, and if she's so sick I need to stay home, I can telecommute. I really have a good deal, so don't think I'm complaining. I am blessed and I know it. But really - I'd love to retire and have seven-day weekends! If the govt gave me a million bucks and made me pay off my mortgage and buy a car ... well, I'm a good citizen. I'd do it.
  10. Sounds good to me too man. I hope all goes well for you. Sounds like a potentially very interesting job too.
  11. We have to watch these 'wipes very carefully. They want to micromanage every aspect of our lives - right down to what we think and say. H.R. 1966: Offend Someone Online - Go To Prison
  12. Yay for you christiana! Your enthusiasm is contagious. And we all know exactly how you feel. It's only going to get better from here. Vape on!
  13. I like the deionized water idea. Where would one find it? Went looking for distilled water to boil mine in the other day and couldn't find it in the grocery store. Finally I asked someone (!), who sent me to the drinking water aisle... Since my dog was in the car and she hadn't 'stopped' in the yard before hopping in, I didn't want to take too long in the store so I gave up. Will look longer and/or ask an older person next time. I've just boiled mine when they started tasting a little funky. It seems to restore them a bit but they're not like new. I like Schizo's idea of cleaning daily but honestly - no way I have that kind of leisure time. But I think that's right, letting juice dry in it overnight is probably not the best idea. I wonder if just tossing them in a mason jar full of Everclear overnight, and blowing them out & letting them dry during the day would work? But I am really looking forward to the 'last word' on Christopher's sonic experiment. Maybe it's just that I like playing with stuff... Hm. Maybe using grain alcohol in the sonic cleaner? I wouldn't fear vaping that residue, I don't think. If there was any.
  14. mcquinn probably has a point there. I've noticed that if I vape the same flavor too long I lose its taste but switching off I can taste the new one. I rotate between three flavors right now but always trying new ones. I never expected it when I started vaping, but I find I really enjoy the footy ones the best. I was really disappointed in the one clove I could find. Not like clove at all, which you would think should be easy. I may have to try that myself when I get to the DIY stage... Clove just seems like a natural to me.
  15. Just keep voting for their opposite. Eventually some new guy will come along and when he gets elected it will give hope to others. Remember, we hold the cards, not the politicians. They've just convinced us that they do. They're jerks, one and all.
  16. Oh no -- me too! I always mess with that little scratchy end when I clean and restuff them. There's just no end to it is there?
  17. I've tried the Pyramid tea bag mod with great success. I hope that doesn't make me sound too dorky. There's been quite a bit of how-to info on that around here but I can't pinpoint it quickly offhand. Basically, the nylon(?) tea bag is cut apart to make it flat, one edge folded over a couple of times, then it's rolled up and put into the cart with the folded end toward the coil. The dimensions of the rolled-up tea bag are important - too long and the atty will flood, too short it won't wick. Trial and error worked for me though. But then I just gave up carts and direct drip pretty much all the time now - except for my commute, when I do often use a tea bag cart.
  18. Thank you! I've been wondering how to do that but hadn't bothered to do the research yet. I owe you one.
  19. This is a great thread and fantastic discussion. Schecterc1h, thanks for bringing this up; Galex and dlynne, thanks so much for your thoughtful and timely replies. I find that I agree with both of you in every facet. While I'm perfectly happy taking my chances with a relatively unknown process I recognize the risk, whoever slight, that I may have an unpleasant surprise in store down the road. I'm particularly thankful for dlynne's insight from a legal perspective. This helped to mature my view of the agency. (Though I still cannot trust them.) Personally I fully expect FDA regulation. I've given this some thought, since I feel that my wellbeing is dependent on vaping. My expectation is that the FDA will be given jurisdiction (is that the right concept?) over nicotine, rather than simply tobacco. Nicotine is an addictive substance and as such probably 'deserves' oversight. The coffee argument is a good one however. And I'd be much happier knowing what's in my juice at a very granular level. That's just the way I am. Possibly some importers have done a thorough analysis of their components and if so I'd like to read it. But that uncertainty is not preventing me taking what I perceive to be a much safer route to satisfying my nicotine requirement. I'm thankful beyond words for vaping and for all of the wonderful folks here. You all rock. Thanks again everyone!
  20. Oh man, I feel for you. My wife came down with something similar overnight and she's gone to bed too. I hope you both recover quickly! Hang in there man.
  21. This is not a feel-good site, but we should probably all see it once in a while. It takes a minute to load but worth the wait. I think. US Debt Clock
  22. You know, a lot of people just resist change with everything they have. I've noticed that with smokers too. It's their loss though. My biggest concern is for the smokers at my employment - one day soon our campus is going to be non-smoking all the way and no one will be allowed to smoke on the property anywhere anymore. I've approached a few of them with vaping but they just shrug it off. At least they know about vaping generally now and will have an option when that day comes. But it always surprises me when someone looks 'down' on the idea. Too bad for them, I guess.
  23. You know, I struggle with that question too. I believe Jeso at Vaprlife is the designer and manufacturer. I'm never sure what's the best way to spend my money - whether with the originator, who will earn a larger margin on the units he sells, or from a distributor which would help the originator gain sales volume. I guess it's a toss up; either that or the math is too involved for my little brain - micro economics was not my best subject. Any VP2 sale is gonna support its creator one way or the other.
  24. Hey daydripper, Congratulations!!! Even more congratulations given that you've struggled with the analog issue. I have too. Analogs are sneaky; addiction is sneaky. Hang in there and you will overcome even that. Like Christopher said, a lot of it is just habit, and your vaping routine will eventually become as second nature as a pack of smokes and a lighter were. And no smelly mess! Eventually the juice aroma will be familiar and warm to you too. As to the craving, it sounds like you might need higher nic level for a while. I'm not alone in finding that what most vendors call "high" strength is far, far too weak to do anything for me. If I had to use 24mg juice, I'd be back on the analogs in half an hour; no doubt about it. There are a number of vendors who offer 36mg (VT store doesn't, alas), and I found only one so far that has 48mg. Their stuff works for me, but sometimes just barely. Anyway, you're on the right track. Pat yourself on the back! And give those analogs to someone who needs them. That ain't you.
  25. Hey fatalis, good for you for doing so much research and asking all the right questions. Frankly, I'm using your various threads to help my own research, as I'm about to acquire my own 5 or 6v unit too. LOL - "Phallic" I can see your point, though truly it's never occurred to me quite that way. I'll just say that if I saw some chick using a big fat mod my first thought would be, now here's someone who's done her research! (Being all grey and paunchy, my conversations with young women have a much different character now than they once might have. ) Off the top of my head the only mod I know of that you could switch between 3.7 and 6v is the Chuck, with which you'd use an extender for two batts. I like the button placement next to the atty personally, so I wouldn't consider any mod that had the button anywhere else. That excludes a lot of them right off the bat. As to which atty, I can't say. I've only used the 801 with any success. I like it just for its size in fact. If you use a cart, it will hold a lot more liquid than a smaller atty. Since I direct drip I don't know that there's any benefit to that vs a 510 for example. You're the first that I recall saying a 901 gives a better throat hit than a 510. Cripes, I have a lot of experimenting to do yet! In any event, you're probably right that the size of the 810 wouldn't be so obvious on the body of a larger mod; just a scale issue. I think virtually all mods have adaptors available for any atty you wish to use. You may have an added few dollars to buy a 510 or 910 adapter up front. No biggie in the larger picture I don't think. As to the vodka/ice issue - no way! Hot water, that's the ticket. Hot water. Smoooooth... Or so I'm told.
