  1. Yeah, similarly I slowly evolved in to a dripper. First, cartomizers. Then carts, thinking that was the way it had to go because they were designed that way, right? Then I'd started dripping one or two on the atty and one or two on the cart. Then one evening rinsing out carts I wondered why in the world I was rinsing all that good juice down the drain? That's when I gave up the fill and realized how much better and more consistent flavor I got without the polyfill in there getting hot. Yippee! When I think my commute is going to be longer than normal, I'll load up a PTB cart. That does deliver juice a little longer than simply dripping, in my experience. But it's not as satisfactory flavor-wise for me.
  2. Amen to that, brother. People around me start getting edgy if I haven't had my full quota for the most recent 15 minutes... As to whether there is such a thing as a 'vaping addiction' - I'd have to say, "Sure!" We have this wonderfully complex neurological system - the best in the world - that gives us all kinds of side effects. Spirituality, memory, all kinds of stuff. Addiction and mind-bending are right up there in the list. I believe they must all be of some survival benefit or we wouldn't be so successful as a species. People can become addicted to all kinds of things; daydreaming, reading, sex, drugs, whatever. These behaviors are not necessarily destructive; it's the obsession around them that becomes a problem. Physical addiction is an added component. When physically addicted to anything, our minds come to believe that substance is required, like food. When we're feeling a craving for our favorite substance, our mind reacts as if we're starving; and think what starving people will do to each other when they're hungry. This is how addiction can be so destructive. As mentioned, nicotine addiction is probably one of the hardest to break; harder even than heroin or crack, despite that the withdrawal symptoms are not as severe. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know why that is, but I can say from personal experience it's much easier to break about any addiction than nicotine. Smoking is not simply a nicotine addiction, as we have often said. There are ritual aspects, other physiological issues like the throat hit, the who oral gratification thing. There's a lot more to it than just nicotine, which is why I think so many people can go hours without vaping when they couldn't go more than a few minutes without smoking. I'm not that way; I'm a nicotine fiend. Patches and gum didn't work for me for at least two reasons; insufficient nicotine and the loss of the throat hit/lung effect. One quit smoking trial I thought I'd substitute a secondary product to get the throat hit part satisfied, and used patches and gum for the nicotine. That lasted one really loooong day before I gave that up as a bad idea... Vaping is a wonder. I'm not completely comfortable with vaping only, even yet. I'm a serious addict; a dedicated addict. But vaping has done more than any other course to help me stop smoking. Believe me, I've tried everything I could think of including double helpings of intercourse and hot/cold showers to quit smoking. To no avail. Yet here I am with all these non-smoking days under my belt! I'm still addicted though; addicted to vaping. For me it's the nicotine and the throat hit. For others it might be something else; just being cool, maybe. If you took my PV away I'd freak out on somebody. Well, no; before I got really off my rocker I'd just go buy a carton of Pall Mall and resign myself to an ugly death. But I do believe one can be addicted to vaping. We're capable, lucky us, of becoming addicted to about anything we find pleasant. It's just our lovely nature. Just my .02. Great thread. Thanks everyone, this is exactly what I find so valuable about Vapor Talk. You all rock.
  3. You'll like the PT! Your flavors sound good too. Sometimes it's a hassle if you have to move it around all the time, but the simple solution to that is -- multiple PTs. I've only the one myself, and I do get tired of lugging it around from chair to chair all day. And of course, you can't use it in the grocery store or movie theater; still need a big bad batt for that. heh! Congratulations! Keep us posted how it grows on you.
  4. LOL! I can't say whether you look like an alien, but I do know most tobaconists around here are dried-up sour old goats like the antique dealers. (Who also smoke like fiends.) No surprise they wouldn't take kindly to some newfangled danged Chinee invention. "Buncha commies!" they'd say. Maybe a good solid -probe!- would do them some good... In seriousness, I'm sure it's mostly a volume issue at this point. Besides my brother who vacilates between his e cig and analogs every couple of days, I'm the only person I've ever seen outside my home using one. You'd sure never get fresh juice under conditions like that. Probably time will do it, assuming the FDA keeps its fat head out of our lives. Once American know-how kicks in, this industry is going to take off like a rocket!
  5. I'm in favor of inviting obama to VT too! Who knows, maybe he'd actually listen to the serfs... Well, or not. Worth a try though.
  6. That guy's a hoot! "Don't vape to quit, buy my CD!" What a jerk.
  7. I haven't tried it yet, so thanks for the comments. I'll probably just delete it. But it's nice to know someone got something out there quickly, and given the reviews hopefully someone will do a nicer job soon.
  8. Success. That's a good thing all around. You all rock. nana, I'm looking forward to your recipes too!
  9. Brian, you're my hero for today - for what you did for Jeri. The mod is freakin awesome too! Gold star day.
  10. "Maybe" my green foot, big guy! That's freakin awesome! Now I want to see some vapor production. Who knows, maybe we can talk TeriJo into doing her first musical mod review of Brian's Boom Box! You did a super clean job building that Brian. That was your first one? I'm not buying it. Well okay, if you say so, but that means you have a second career in front of you. Better start getting geared up for production. Heh. Way to go man! Vape on!
  11. So Brian, what do you really think of TT? Probably you need to get larger bottles of that stuff, does VT sell them? Perhaps you'll be first in line when Christopher takes VT public? Getting in on the ground floor, your share prices will rocket the first day; then you can sell them and retire to vape on your porch forevermore. What a guy!
  12. I was going to ask whether you smoke full flavor or light Kools, but it sounds like that may be moot. Lights smokers can probably live with normal-voltage e cigs but in my experience, higher voltage is more like the TH I was getting from my analogs. If they made 12V units, that's what I'd be into... But I also think strong menthol juice can help with the TH.
  13. 555 works for me. Has a kind of nutty overtone that I like.
  14. Very cool Knight! I'm a total spreadsheet geek, so it's kind of funny that I didn't do that sooner myself. Finally I did one day though. Mine's quite informal and eventually I'm going to flesh it out. But I'm pretty new and don't have much to show yet - except money spent for juice! Anyway, I'm going to figure out a way to code if for software vs hardware. That is interesting to me. Would graduated cylinders used for mixing juice be hardware or software?
  15. First thing nana, please know that our prayers are with your friends and community. Your son rocks and I'm thankful for people like him every day. I'm so psyched that you got your flavors and are getting ready to start mixing!!! I mean it, psyched outta my shorts. (Not a pretty picture, but heart-felt. ) Today a couple of graduated cylinders I found on eBay got here. 10 ml, they look ideal for mixing without drops. We'll see how that goes once I get some recipes down. I'm so looking forward to your experience! Thank you both so much. And now, g'night; I'm way sleepy.
  16. Brian, "Paranormal Activity" is a really scary movie, but not bloody or gory. Nothing much really happens -- on-screen...
  17. Michelle, thank you. That was a really cool reply and made a whole lot of sense. You're an angel in your own special way; you made the only argument that could have gotten my attention, and in a way that I understand. You are my hero for today. Haven't tried VG at all, but I'm going to now.
  18. Thanks man! That looks like a good opportunity. They have "Electra Glide in Blue"! One of my favorite movies... Wow, what a bonus. Brian I know exactly what you mean in both cases; my wife won't watch scary movies, or doesn't think the truly scary ones are scary.** And if I get sucked into one of the classics there's no going back for me either. Movies are one of my favorite things! We went to see "Book of Eli" last night. We both really liked it but disagree what the ending suggested. District 9 just came out on On Demand. We saw that in the theater; I've watched it twice more since it hit cable and I just think it's one of the best SF movies ever made. And no, I now realize there won't be a sequel. Thankfully; nothing could improve on that. What a great movie. Possibly you can tell that the mainstream movies are not the only thing I watch. There are so many great movies that never make it to the commercial venues that cable is about the only recourse. No one I know could afford to buy all the DVDs of worthy movies that are made; for sure not me. Ever heard of Takashi Miike? Japanese film maker that will make your hair stand on end. I could go on... Some of these guys do get my DVD money. Sukiyaki Western Django is so freakin weird and cool! I love that movie. Edit: **The scariest scary movies are the ones you have to apply your imagination to, to fill in what's really happening. Horror requires a true suspension of disbelief; if one can attain that, movies like 28 Days Later or Paranormal Activity will scare your pants off. If not, well, you've lost a couple hours of your evening.
  19. Hey, there is a free juice app for Droid; it's called "Mixology." Just for those Droid owners who want to know... I'm with KuyaDave and GDub on this one; Apple is the innovator for mobile apps, but they've gotten stuck in a rut. OSS rules; that's just the way it is. One day -- in our lifetimes (even mine) -- the OSS paradigm will come to be the standard. People 20 years from now won't even be able to conceive of proprietary apps or OSes. That's a dead business method that's just in its nervous jerking stage. Even so, there's a place for all these proprietary methods right now. Apple/Jobs should get its/his due from everyone; they're a game-changer. I hope that continues until OSS gets some serious backing. Heaven only knows Apple is the primary innovator in this space. But for those of us who get it, there's so much going on with Linux and OSS generally that the stogy for-profit guys don't have a chance. RMS and Linus gave us real freedom, and the people who can are running with it. Proprietary is a has-run proposition, even if I still rely on a lot of it. That won't be forever.
  20. StringDancer, thanks for the great article about Hon! Now I'm going to save it too. Do you know the source for attribution?
  21. Dang man, I thought I was being clever and here you got it in there a freakin hour ago! Sheesh. That's what I get for taking a nap...
  22. Thanks for the sweet article iMike! I hope you get over your cold quickly; you know they say PG has good benefits for the respiratory tract, so I'm holding out hope it clears up real soon.
  23. Thanks for the update Jeff. This might work quite well for when we're sitting at home, and just switch to a whistle tip for driving. I don't drip and drive anyway.
