No man, but I wish it would! Way to go campaigning for the cause! You are my hero for today. That's awesome!

I think Ray had a great idea to order a small quantity of three common levels of nic. I was going to say 18 or 24mg, which seems the common reply. Ray, for what it's worth I tried 24mg first, quickly moved to 36, and was about to give up until I found a vendor who sells 48mg. That works for me, still a bit of a reduction in the amount of nic I was getting but I've been (mostly) successful with that. I was a quite heavy smoker though. I smoked like one of the legendary toughguys from 40s noir movies. <hack!>

I concur with BirdDog on this one; I believe that like most people you would come to prefer the manual batts, so giving them both a try is a great idea. One other issue with auto batteries is that sometimes juice will leak into the battery compartment and ruin the batt. Because manual batts are sealed, you avoid this risk. Welcome to Vapor Talk! You found a great place. Jump right in with your questions and experiences, we love it.

KR808 was my first unit, and my wife still uses it from time to time. I refill the cartomizers as needed. Some of them are on their fifth refill and still doing well, which kind of surprises me. What Brian said about flavor is true too - but so is the minimal vapor production. I think the real upside to them is the low rate of interaction; they'd be pretty ideal for someone who doesn't want to mess with dripping or topping off carts every few drags. Just my .02.

Michelle, I have a boatload of stuff like that saved as pdfs on a CD, to hand out for that very purpose. I've given several of them away so far. I'd be happy to email the files to you or mail you a copy of the CD. Feel free to PM me if you wish. I don't have links for them though, sorry. Most of them I've found referenced in different threads here and other forums though.

Ah! The first in my collection of notes for HV-specific juice! Brian, you're a veritable fount of good information...
-
I believe they do make 7V attys for use with the big GG. So far they've always been sold out when I looked though.

Yeah Brian, you're a veritable trove of excellent ideas! Thanks, that's a great idea.

Thanks for the heads up Brian! This is a great idea, insulates one's tender lips from the 510's excellent heat. Great pics too. Those hands are not unfamiliar with tools. I'll give this a try, as I have plenty of carts that I never use. I still need to get some 901 carts though for the whistle tip, which is hands down the only way to vape and drive. This is only partly related but thought I'd throw it in here. Presumably it is, but does anyone know whether a PTB mod is workable in a 901 cart? PTB is about the only way I feel even remotely successful using the juice capacity of a cart vs direct dripping, and there are times I drive far enough that I'd have to drip (which I just really avoid if at all possible - dripping and driving I mean). And I've found that for whatever reason I prefer the 510s to 801s. I seem to get more vapor, perhaps because it's coming through a smaller restriction and is more condensed than in the larger tube of the 801?

I think Intersink has a really good point. I do like the TH at 5V vs 3.7, but also agree I seem to get a bit more flavor at 3.7V. It's a trade off. Since my personal overriding issue is replicating the feeling of smoking, flavor has to take a second seat. Some day I'm going to find that perfect juice recipe that delivers it all at 5V and that will be my personal nirvana.

Wow, being so delinquent in the forum I got to read the whole story from frustration to nirvana! I lead a charmed life, and so does Darrin. I'm glad you got that figured out and that your battery wasn't killed by the reversed input. This is all good info I'm packing away in my short-term memory...

Hey ROOR, Congratulations! You're on the right road brother. I'm glad you came to VT, your enthusiasm is contagious.

I Just Had A Truely Stellar Idea!

Very cool pics Prof, thanks! That does help give it some scale too. Screwdriver was the device the guy in the first vaping video I ever saw was not-using. That was his everyday device but he was promoting (if I remember correctly) V4L's KR808. I could be wrong about that; point is, the SD has been around for a long time (in vaping years), which says something quite positive about it in my book.

Uma! We missed you so much! Dang, lady, if there's a downside to you living in the hinterlands, it's that we don't hear from you much. What a nice way to step back in though. I just woke up, so bear with my poor thought stream here, but Wow! so nice to hear from you. I had to go look up The Last Olympian - hadn't heard of it. Now I have, I'll be watching for the books and possibly (here in America's armpit, we don't get many movies; they even closed about half the theaters a few years ago) the movie. Let's hope I can track that down. I'm more a hard-science SF kind of guy, but given the reviews this might be worth digging into. Heaven knows I read faster** than my authors write... I'm sure glad the storm caused you no harm. While I'm confident you guys know your stuff, nature can be a real beast too, sometimes. I'm not sure the geography of where you live naturally, but California doesn't exactly have the best track record for weather safety. Chris sounds like such a super man. I really wish I could meet you two, you just seem so squared away. My son would love you too, you guys live exactly the way he wants to. Some day we're going to build a big straw-bale house and all live in it by the woods. Grow stuff and eat it. Meanwhile you guys can be my proxy for living well. Guess that's all for now. Thanks for the wonderful update! (And yeah, I know exactly what you meant about smoking while you're eating!) I'm so happy that vaping is working out for you. Vape on! **Yet I'm a remarkably slow reader - maybe 10 pages a day if I really get rolling.

That thing is really sexy-looking Prof! I guess I'm going to have to try the bottom button thing to see how I like it. That format is long-lived enough to make me think it must work well and that it's just my brain that hasn't caught up yet. Do you press it with the little finger? Can you carry it in a shirt pocket without the button going off? Quite curious how it works. Thanks for the pointer, I am very tempted. Probably will step on that when I win the lottery this afternoon.

That's a sweet article Matt. I see what you mean about the battery. I couldn't pick up on its specs, but maybe you can find a battery with similar amperage in a more reasonable shape. The shape of the circuit board would still be an issue though. I look forward to your new design -- keep us posted your progress.

Actually I think M$ is far more concerned about Linux than they are Apple. Apple's not really a competitor; completely different customers for the most part. But that ain't true about Linux... Edit: Oh - And I think you're right about M$ being its own worst enemy. The ME Vista debacle aside, I recently "upgraded" to Office 07 at work, and Excel diehard that I am, they really screwed that up in 07. So bad that my dept probably won't be able to use it, because it has behavior that completely negates any kind of audit trail. Dumb dumb dumb.

I need to add my congratulations! I'm excited for you. Tax refund already? Cripes, we haven't even received all of our data yet...
-
Sorry I missed this Brian. I haven't read all the comments, but just know that I'm sending excellent hippie vibes all around the earth on your behalf. I'm sure that will really turn things around! Honestly, I hope all goes well for you. Hang in there and let us know if there's anything we can do to help.

Did she ever make another complaint? If not, you know she wasn't getting any nic to begin with.

NeRo9k (cripes, try typing that three times fast! ), thanks for your very good comments. I know where you're coming from in a way and totally dig your reason. When I saw Blair Witch it scared the bejeezus out of me! I still have a little copper-wire stick man hanging on my wall - I made is sleepwalking one night, I guess. At least, it just appeared there one day... Just Kidding! I made it on purpose, because I dug em so much hanging around in that forest. It's been hanging there a few years, there are spider webs all over it though they're hard to see in that picture. I can't wait to see Zombieland; missed it in the theater. My son's a zombie movie freak too, and he did go. My wife and I went to see Inglorious Basterds. I liked it, Jeanie (a WWII buff) didn't think much of it. Anyway I bet you and I could trade a lot of DVDs with real happiness. I really enjoy movies. Running out of places to stack them. I was taking Sukiyaki Western Django to a buddy's house this morning and dang! my car flipped out on me. Seven hours and $180 later it's good as ... it was this morning. Didn't get to share that movie though. Sigh.

I've had better luck with rinsing them out than with boiling to clean them. (I forgot I had some in the pot once, they boiled for 20 minutes and never gave a wisp again. ) That said, there was no rinsing out the menthol. That just had to burn its way away.

Poll The First - Your Analog Type
ddavelarsen replied to ddavelarsen's topic in Polls and Questionnaires
That theory works for me. I guess I still stand by my original hypothesis, though some heavier smokers do seem to have been able to make the 'cut' to vaping nic levels fairly well. My brother is/was a full flavor guy, can sort of get by on 36mg but is much more relaxed at 48. I was a far heavier smoker than he is/was, and 36 doesn't really cut it for me. It would be better than smoking, but only temporarily. If that's all there was I would have been back on analogs a long time ago. That really only proves that we're all different, and probably that varying levels of commitment come into play with vaping success. Thanks for all your input! -
This is what I do too, though I don't have a menthol one. (I should have though, because I let my brother load some menthol juice into my VP PT once and it took days to get it gone.) I think I got the idea from Brian, now I think about it... Thanks bro!
