I haven't looked but I hope all you guys went to that article and told your vapor success stories in the comments! Patch never even came close to helping me quit smoking; nor did anything else. It's still a struggle sometimes even with my PV, but it does get me through the rough times and it's wonderful for all the rest of the time.

How The News Feeds You Its Content
ddavelarsen replied to Christopher's topic in The Vape Lounge - Off Topic Chat
Man that's great, thanks! Now I know why I don't watch network television. -
Too Late! Too bad about that guy's math though - I think it's because he and I have so much "past" in common... I just retained my minimal math skills better. Four 24mg hits is still 24mg vapor - just a whole hel luva lot of it! Yowza!!! Um, Uma? No, no one else has ever had that dream... But you were right that it blew my mind! Yowza!!! Thank you, that was a total trip and a half. I gotta have me one o' those! ... Say, Brian?... I have a project for you...

This is kind of a toss up - this could also go in the Health forum but since I see it as an opportunity for proselytizing I decided to put it here. I left a comment and I hope thousands of other vapers will too. Check out the paltry specs they quote for patch success! Wearing patch 6 months may help smokers quit Thanks.

You're most welcome Michelle; it's truly my pleasure. Countering nay-sayments is a crucial facet of vaping!

Fda Appeals Electronic Cigarette Ruling
ddavelarsen replied to Phaseman66's topic in General Vape News
Yeah, I think WSJ is pretty even handed. I fully expected the FDA to appeal that ruling; I'm only surprised it took them this long. The fight is only just beginning, but believe it - the FDA will end up with all our lives in its hands. Just stock up as best you can and hope to weather the dry spell. -
Higher Strength Nicotine Than 100Mg?
ddavelarsen replied to fatalis's topic in DIY e Liquid Discussion
Well, just one more comment I guess. I got to thinking about this while I was walking around a while ago. While it may be true that highly concentrated nicotine is a dangerous substance, that's also true for hundreds of common household items we never think twice about - clorine bleach, draino, furniture polish, medications - all kinds of stuff we use all the time, that our kids might be able to get into, can all be totally deadly. We shouldn't succumb to fear of something simply because it's unusual. We should simply treat it with the same respect we do everything else, like driving to work. Hm; how many of us drip and drive? (I don't. ) -
Higher Strength Nicotine Than 100Mg?
ddavelarsen replied to fatalis's topic in DIY e Liquid Discussion
Thanks for your concern folks, I really mean that. I know that sometimes I sound cavalier about relatively high levels of nicotine but there really is something to what John said here - a degree of acquired tolerance. You bet buddy, 48mg all the way. It's all that keeps me vaping. I've never handled 100mg juice but be assured I'd wear gloves. I doubt 8 drops would be dangerous on one's skin but why take a chance? I'm a seriously risk averse person; it's why I'm so dedicated an introvert I guess. (I really am too; you would never believe I'm me in person.) But honestly - people mix juice all the time without dying. If I could find nic in a higher concentration I certainly would use it, just because I'm cheap. Naturally I'd keep it in the safe though; I'd be far too paranoid to leave it where anyone else might get hold of it. Again, thanks for your concern, I appreciate it. -

Poll The First - Your Analog Type
ddavelarsen replied to ddavelarsen's topic in Polls and Questionnaires
Schizo, that make a lot of sense to me. I know that my analog addiction was more than a nicotine one, or I wouldn't still be thinking about smoking. Analogs are sneaky! I think your idea to add some VG is great. I'm planning to try that too here shortly as I begin mixing my own stuff. Your comment about less flavor at higher nic is very interesting; hopefully I'll be able to test that for myself one day. Part of the "problem" with vaping for me is that the vapor is so 'soft' compared to smoke, and hense the perpetual search for throat hit. That's a big one. I've noticed that vapor isn't as warm as smoke, and that's something I'd like to find too; nice warm vapor. But all in all, I'm doing fairly well where I am. Having gone back to my VP2 for a week , I think I got better flavor (but less TH) at lower voltage. Which is most important? I think I'll end up switching between 3.7 and 5V throughout the day now that I recognize a difference and find a benefit in each. So guess what? I find I agree with you throroughly. That makes you my hero for today. I wish you well in your vaping life! -
Higher Strength Nicotine Than 100Mg?
ddavelarsen replied to fatalis's topic in DIY e Liquid Discussion
I've wondered that myself. The 100mg stuff is always cut with PG, sometimes VG - but always cut. So it's available somewhere at higher strength... Probably China. Let us know if you find it, because that would sure be a less expensive way to mix. -
Hi Jen. I'm told that the drops at Tasty Puff are a miracle. Getting ready to snag some for myself in fact. Check this thread for more info. Here's Tasty Puff's site. Hint - click the little speaker in the upper left by the dancing dude to stop the music. Tasty Puff Others have also had success just adding Lorann's or other flavoring to their juice. That will reduce the nic a bit, but just a little depending how much flavor you add. Good luck!

LOL! I can accept that. My wife makes the best spaghetti and chili and potato soup anyone's ever eaten - and she has no freakin clue how she does it. That said, I'm a scientist - er, "control freak." No doubt my intitial mixing attempts are going to be more random than directed, but I sure hope I remember to take notes what I did. The thought that I might convert some perfectly good 100mg base into utter crap - twice - just gives me the willies...

Poll The First - Your Analog Type
ddavelarsen replied to ddavelarsen's topic in Polls and Questionnaires
Thanks for additional input gents. Stirfry, I don't think I implied that "lights smokers have it easier" - you can read about how difficult it is for anyone to quit smoking on this forum all day. My theory - and I'm sticking to it - is that Lights smokers require less nicotine in their juice than heavy smokers do ... generally. There are exceptions, humans are a diverse bunch. But the correlation between 24 mg being the standard "extra high strength" juice and 62% of vapers having smoked Lights or Ultra Lights is undeniable. That said, I also think there's a big commitment component to a vaper's success; nicotine level is not the only ingredient. I started this investigation because so many people freak out about me using 48mg juice. That made me curious. The fact is though, that's a big reduction in the amount of nicotine I was getting from smoking. I'm beginning to think I might start titrating down in the next few months and see how low I can get. It would sure be nice to be able to try some of that legendary Midnight or Dulcis... And it would help stretch out the last of my juice when the FDA decides to regulate it and all anyone can get anymore is 24mg, because that's what most people find "strong." Probably it would have been more effective to combine somehow the type of analogs vapers were using with their initial successful level of nicotine. I'm still working on a nic-level poll idea, just haven't convinced myself how to present it - whether I just want to know what people started out with, or what their nicotine use path has been. Those might be two studies. I welcome suggestions. -

Heh. Got mine in my big hot hands again and boy is it ever sweet... -
You know, that might be worth a try. Thanks mcquinn.

John I'm really glad to hear that as I saved that recipe for my eventual DIY excursion. I have a good stock of Everclear, naturally! (I make my own aftershave too. ) So you used Lorann's Clove?

That takes courage! What if you hit that all-time nirvana juice and can't replicate it? That'd be like losing the map to King Solomon's Mines... I've only done some real off-hand mixing so far but even that I measured. (Didn't write it down though. ) When I do start mixing in earnest, I'll keep a log of everything I make, and try to use that to improve the ones I like (if there end up being any). But I'm sure glad it works out for you. I expect that after measuring a while you would actually get to the point you can count on a good vape every time. I'm far from that personally though.

Cripes and here I thought I was clever... Just been switching off tobacco and fruit attys all weekend. Brian you really know how to live.

You're gonna dig it! 3.7V will never feel the same again (but it will still do the job). Congratulations on buying one of the finest PVs out there. Next you'll be looking for a 5V batt mod... -
LOL! That's just too funny. I've never actually thrown one out the window, but I have 'flicked the ash' out before. And lit the end! Old habits die hard sometimes. Thanks for sharing, that's a good one.

Thanks! I can't wait to try that now...

Poll The First - Your Analog Type
ddavelarsen replied to ddavelarsen's topic in Polls and Questionnaires
I'd sure call that being a heavy smoker Uma! Your success is a wonderful story, congratulations! You're pretty savvy to mix up the strengths too. I've thought about buying or mixing some 36mg juice for the next round to see if I can work it into my 'schedule.' We'll see how that goes. Ultimately it would be great to get off nicotine altogether - any kind of habit is a fence. But I'm not pushing it; I'd rather vape than smoke, any day. Thanks for helping! -
Way to go Kajun! That's just good all around. Since I haven't before, let me also welcome you to Vapor Talk. You've found what a great place this is and before you know it ... not only will have an analog-free year under your belt but you'll be helping a whole bunch of new folks get their arms around this fantastic lifeway. Soon you're going to start realizing all the improvements in your health and senses from quitting smoking too, and that's going to be so fine. Vape on!
