  1. And while you're doing all that, maybe you can open the windows! I do that once in a while still, even though it's single digits outside and my wife screams to high heaven... I hadn't thought of washing the clothes in closets, that's a great idea. So is the coffee trick. We've pretty much got everything else done by now. Except painting, which just ain't gonna happen.
  2. Krissy my heart goes out to you. You're lucky to have such a caring husband to come home to. My wife was a nurse and believe me that story would set her off big time! No way would she have put up with another nurse acting that way. I truly hope they get your problems under control, and quickly. Hang in there, okay? Feel free to vent anytime.
  3. Hard to fault that choice - pretty much Constitutional right down the aisle. There just aren't many Libertarians out there. Modern Whigs are a movement that might get some traction given enough time. That's one view that doesn't get me all riled up. But there aren't any of them out there yet. I'm beginning to understand again why I find the people here so comfortable. We seem to have a lot of shared values. Derrek your arguments are well taken. Personally I really believe in democracy; but general human apathy can sure lead it to ruin.
  4. My brother Gnerd Mike is using me. Here's a corrected link to the petition mentioned above: Corrected Link to Petition Let's use it!
  5. Interesting thought man. My brother is not a forum kinda guy so I don't think we'll ever see him here, but he does do his homework. Text from a recent email from him follows. I haven't yet read the proposed law myself but I think I'm going to have to. 'This is what the push for regulation of ecigs is all about: "There would also be a challenge to ensure that we capture within regulation nicotine containing products without impacting on tobacco products." From paragraph 17 of the British Consultation Letter.'
  6. You've "seen claims elsewhere" Bri? Like, where? Where "else" is there, besides VT? Eh? Okay, chain yankin in back on the hook bro. I'm definitely going to try some VG in my first mixing exploits. In fact, bought some at the grocery store today - my first DIY supplies! Unless you count a couple of blank 6 ml bottles I've squirreled away. And man, I'm sure going to have to try some waffle some day soon!... That stuff's so legendary, and I love eating actual waffles so much, that it seems a no-brainer. But honestly, I haven't yet looked for waffle flavoring anywhere. I bet FF has it though. "Yummy" indeed!
  7. What, FTJoe, a cynic? Now I know the sky is falling!!! You don't have to believe me on this one, but -- I can state with reasonable authority that 98.6% of politicians have only one 'special interest' in mind at any given time: Their Own. Bureaucrats like the FDA now... That surely is a different story. I'm sure the FDA has all of our very best interests at heart. No, really. I mean -- the only studies of the effects of PG vapor that have been made are by the makers of e cigs -- there are no truly objective studies like those big pharma and big tobacco have provided to the FDA about their own products. Oh wait - you mean big pharma and big tobacco PAY THE FDA to send them those oh-so-objective studies? Who'd have thought?! Say it isn't so!
  8. Now that's a trip - goes to show how much I actually pay attention. Thanks again Mr FTJoe, for being the good guy. I'll have to start watching TW now more closely.
  9. Below is the text from an email my brother received from TW. Hopefully some of you will have gotten it too, but I didn't want to wait to put this out here. I Strongly Advise that each and every one of us write the suggested letter. We are going to have to defend our chosen lifeway at every turn, and not just in the US - but worldwide. 10. Oh man, I feel so much like you do! Politicians only say what they want your face to hear. I truly believe the only thing 99% of politicians work for is their own personal wellbeing. There are some good, honest, public servants out there - but they get swept aside for not playing the good ole boy's game. Even so though, I personally believe voting is not only my right but a responsibility. We can't believe in our country or our Constitution if we don't actively support it. Taking that a bit further, I also believe that the status quo in Washington is not what the Constitution provided for. Even though those ... people ... take an oath to uphold the Constitution, I'm convinced that they're just mouthing the words when they take that oath; that they don't even hear the words they're saying. For sure they don't act responsibly to honor it. So by Voting Incumbents Out, and continuing to talk the idea up to everyone who will listen (saddly a very small minority), I hope to begin to make a difference. When we start 'firing' those politiical rats who aren't doing their jobs on our behalf, the new ones coming in might start to notice - and take a slightly different tack. Eventually, and I think it would take 10-15 years if a strong grassroots effort took hold, we could turn congress over and have representation that was again acting like a democracy. So Mr Joe my friend, I'm gonna vote regardless whether my vote counts for anything, and I'm gonna try to get everyone who will listen to me to vote also - even if they vote opposite me. It's about the only freedom we have left and we'd better use it while we still have it - or that will go away too. (Okay, a bit dramatic, I admit it. ) Dang, look here. This is supposed to be fun and maybe a little illuminating and I just took off on my standard tirade! Okay folks, I'll shut the heck up now.
  11. Just FYI - the third selection for the first question should have said "No - what's the point?" There must be a character limit, or I just goofed. Either way, sorry!
  12. This is just for fun, don't get too carried away! I'll go first. All votes are Private in this poll.
  13. Good article, thanks JM. The guy kind of made us out to be geeks, which I guess we cutting edge people kind of are. I hope he decides to go back to vaping before smoke takes his lungs away.
  14. I'm with Chris on that one, but I also don't think nicotine uptake is as efficient with vapor as it was with smoke. Just how it feels to me, I've obviously no scientific evidence to back that up.
  15. Tough cookies there big boy! I used percent for those inputs just because that's how they're always described in discussions about mixing. I think it works okay since the output is in drops and ml. If you PM me with your email I'll send it to you. I tried uploading it to the DIY forum but no enchilada. Actually that goes for anyone; PM me your email and I'll forward it to you.
  16. I don't want to get too off-topic here, but FTJoe you have a good heart man.
  17. Yeah man, I noticed that once too. Then later they were back on. Who knows?
  18. I know exactly where you're coming from. I'm working on a spreadsheet now that will (presumably) give the recipe in both drops and ml. The inputs are: PG base strength in mg/ml (for example, 100mg/ml )desired strength in mg/ml (ex. 24mg)desired quant to make in ml (ex. 30 ml)percent of volume of flavoring (ex. 20% flavoring)percent of volume of 0 nic VG base (ex. 10% 0 nic VG)Y/N alcohol content (if Y, it will give number of drops or mls of Everclear)Y/N distilled water content (if Y, it will give number of drops or mls distilled water)number of drops alcohol+water per 3 ml (ex. 4 drops total alc+water per 3 ml)It assumes that the balance of volume is 0 nic PG base. I'm just having trouble interpolating drops when it calculates fractions of a ml on any of the inputs. I'll get there but it's taking longer than I thought it would. I'm working on that (or reading here) while long macros are running... I got started doing this based on the Clove recipe recently linked in the DIY juice forum. But doing that, or I guess any recipe with oil vs water-based flavoring, will have to be a different calculation altogether. Anyway, I'm stumped right now on this. Not a good enough spreadsheet guy...
  19. What I understood from the second link is that e cigs were included in the language for the ban bill more or less by mistake. Sure. We can't afford not to stand up and support this cause every time it comes before any legislature. So even if e cigs are not under immediate threat of a ban, we will be doing all vapers a favor by speaking out. And I'm sure okay with establishing a legal age for e cig sales. That should help to rein in the unscrupulous sellers who wouldn't otherwise care whether they're selling to a child.
  20. Phaseman, I've had a similar issue with my VP2 (never with the VP PT so far, thank heaven). I don't know whether it's the same issue but I'll describe it. When the light and power on the VP2 just up and stopped one day I ended up taking the atty off and cleaning the contacts on both the PV and the atty with a paper napkin. I used the corner of the napkin to get down in all the little crevases as best I could. When I reassembled it, it worked again. This has happened a couple of times, and drying off the connections has always restored its function. I hope that will help if your PT ever stops again... Good luck! And have backups if you can.
  21. While I'm not in the 'ask first' contingent, I am a very polite person. If anyone anywhere asked me to put my PV away I'd do it with pleasure, and hope for an opportunity to explain what it is.
  22. Jason I'll put something together today. I don't live in Utah, but I do pin all my hopes to quit smoking on e cigs. Wishing all the best of luck to head off this ridiculous legislation.
  23. This is really timely man, thinking about DIY juice. I'm going to apply those principals as I start experimenting. Thanks Schizo!
  24. You bet! We'll have a party! It won't be as classy as Celtic's but it'll sure be ... relaxed.
  25. I know where you're coming from buddy. I use a lot of chemicals in my shop too, and some of them are very efficient at absorbing through one's skin. Or poisoning the air. I have found replacements for most of the most dangerous stuff and finally installed powerful ventilation, but honestly there were days I felt really creepy down there knowing what I was breathing. (I just unconsciously sucked down a deep breath. Weird.) So real caution is the rule of the day whenever we're dealing with concentrated anything. Our bodies evolved for a relatively benign environment quite unlike what we live in today...
