Heh - you'll notice it was the only one ... on sale!

This has been updated with a bug fix and the addition of an idea I got from Interstink's iPhone app. He added a function to combine two bases of different nic levels to find the 'average' for the combined base. What a great idea for you guys who are reducing nic intake and have some higher strength stuff left over. Anyway, here you go, for what it's worth. I don't mean to beat a dead horse. Juice Differences At 3.7V Vs 5V?
ddavelarsen replied to ddavelarsen's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Thanks jm! That's great info. Now I'm beginning to get a handle where to start, and I'm really psyched. -
LMAO! Thanks nana! That put a nice cap on a rather wicked day!

Wow Uma, cool beans! That zebra one would go with my tutu perfectly! Actually, I do kinda like this one. Good shopping!

Aw, that was a righteous laugh! Thanks John!

Ejuice Application For Iphone / Ipod Touch Update
ddavelarsen replied to Interstink's topic in DIY e Liquid Discussion
That's a really nice-looking app! I liked the idea of combining two bases so much that I added that functionality to my own juice calculator. I've PMed you asking whether you'll go along with my posting the updated spreadsheet here. Meanwhile, I'll repeat my request to see this nice app on my droid! Just a thought... -
I sometimes get that too, and attibute it to overfilling. The worst that can happen is that you get sticky fingers - and wipe your eye! Yikes! Don't do that. One nice thing about 510s in my experience is that it's harder to flood them - I still get good vapor even when I've overfilled mine a bit. I'd say not to worry.

My brother (gnerd) and I both added comments to the article. Mike's was: "This study was designed to achieve the specific result the FDA dictated, whether they funded it or not (and I'd bet money they did). Note they used liquid with the lowest possible concentration of nicotine available. As a pack-a-day smoker of full flavor cigarettes, I knew 16mg would be a total waste of time. I started with 32mg. It didn't cut it. I moved to 48mg - nicotine nirvana! Let this guy do a study with useful nicotine concentrations and see how it goes. But the fact is, the FDA doesn't want a safe smoking alternative available for a couple of reasons. 1) They're partially funded by big tobacco and big pharma and 2) They need victims of tobacco-caused cancer to continue beating the anti-addiction drum. The FDA isn't about health, it's about a zealous agenda; an agenda that denies the human nature of addiction. There are multiple studies of nicotine vaporizers that show positive results. Have you ever seen one reported on CNN? Of course not. Can you say, "Government sock puppet?"" Way to go Bro! I wrote: "This article is a complete load of hooey! Paul Courson is not a reporter – he’s merely a gossip spewing whatever someone told him. An actual reporter would have checked his facts. For example, the FDA’s power grab was slapped down in Federal court; they are prevented from trying to stop imports of e-cigs. That’s just the most obvious untruth in this screed. The “study” was anything but. A scientific study would have said “Brand X electronic cigarette” yielded “N” blood level nicotine. We all know that the devices sold in malls and storefronts are worthless. Yet this article presented those as e-cigs generally. More of Courson’s failure to investigate. 16mg per ml is a very low concentration of nicotine; this study did not even apply a standard nic level to determine whether it worked. If Courson had done any investigation whatever he would have questioned this “study.” But he didn’t. What a fool. Or should I say, “Tool”? If Courson or cnn had any courage they would provide an email address to contact the “reporter,” like actual investigative news outlets do. I would be happy to help Courson do his research before again spouting a bunch of idiocy to a generally undiscriminating readership. I welcome him to follow up with the email address in my login. What this really is, is Big Pharma and Big Tobacco pushing more of their propaganda against the first truly working cigarette alternative to come along in history. The "Establishment" is scared, and well they might be. If our govt truly cared about its constituents, they'd be promoting e-cigs day and night. Instead, too much Big Money stands to have its failed products go unused. I, like virtually everyone else who has posted here, have had sufficient help from my e-cig to quit smoking. This writer is an idiot and the “study” was a sham. CNN is in the middle of that, not wanting to anger their Big Money advertisers whose products will either kill you or give you nothing for your money."

Well, obviously Paul Courson isn't a reporter - he's merely a gossip, spouting whatever someone next door told him. What a load of crap. What do you want to bet that "cancer" organization is a tobacco industry mouthpiece? I think we need to do some research and debunk this article. I'm going to start by writing the gossip who wrote this hooey (if cnn has a link for him, which I haven't had time to check yet). I tried to leave a comment but cnn's website apparently only works with M$ browsers.

Indeed. I wonder how much a 50% coffee diet contributes to yellow teeth too?

You guys just warm my heart! Thanks! You made my morning. Can I have three heroes for today? I don't see why not. nana, that's a wonderful idea! And it never occurred to me. Sheesh. See what friends are for? I'm gonna try that. Next time I order from VT, I'm going to get several bottles to taste all these legendary flavors. What a grand idea! NeRo and Derrek thanks very much for your support and encouragement. Yeah, I've tried lower nic level but that's just not a really viable alternative. All I did was vape more trying to make it up. Just going to vaping from the major analogs I was on was a big reduction, and I have been vaping less than when I started. So perhaps giving 36mg a shot would be a possibility -- I'd just be vaping more, but maybe only as much as I did a couple months ago. That wouldn't be so bad, actually. This might be the way I reduce the nic level. Okay, you got me thinking. But to address your questions, I've really never felt any interest in lowering the nic level -- other than possible bans of course. 48mg sounds like a lot to you folks, but really it's like milk in my old and heavily abused body; it's more like a cotton-ball massage in my lungs compared to the steel wool abrasion Pall Malls were doing for me. I laugh at 48mg! But seriously, I think a reduction might simply come naturally, which honestly is a surprise to me. A nice one, admittedly. Thank you all.

I'm not alone among my little circle of friends, coming into the market for a 5V mod. I know it's inevitable, just a question of what and to a lesser extent, when. I wonder what you all suggest along those lines, and importantly, why? I'm interested in something that should last for years rather than months, and while "price" is obviously a serious consideration, I understand "value." Also, please offer links to reviews and videos where possible. Thanks!

Juice Differences At 3.7V Vs 5V?
ddavelarsen replied to ddavelarsen's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Thanks for the input guys! I hope more people keep it coming. But I can sense that there's going to be a lot of experimentation in my future, because I'm determined to figure out how to make juice that works at higher voltage if there's any way at all. I am a voltage freak, it's just that simple. This might be as simple as limiting which flavors are used (like those with no or little sugar for example) and more flavoring in the mix. I also suspect that there could be an interaction between flavor and PG vs VG. Anyway, unless someone here solves this issue for me (which would for sure be my preference ), I'll be working to figure that out. Thanks again! And please keep it coming everyone. -
Whew! Off the hook!

Not positive this is the right venue for this question but I wanted to get the widest audience for it I could, so I started it here. Mods, please move as you see fit, with my apology. Occasionally I've heard you knowledgeable and experienced vapers say that a particular e-liquid tastes better at 5V (or 6) than at 3.7V. Or simply that you prefer some juice at a different voltage. My question addresses this in two ways. First, is this really true? What I think I really mean is, among you folks who have used the same liquids in both devices, have you consistently noticed the same response? Really? And if you have (my personal bias is to hope that you have), which juices, or possibly which constituents in the juice, were different or helped to make the difference? For example, tobacco flavors are better at highter voltage than frooty ones. Or, caramel tastes sweeter at 3.7V and burnt at 5V. See where I'm going? Possibly this is too general a question for too complex of a subject. If the replies (I'm hoping for a Lot!) suggest it, perhaps I'll break this down some more to try to get to what's really going on. Ultimately I'd like to use this info in my own e-liquid experiments... BwaaaHaaahaaaahaaaaaa!

John I keep coming back to this thread. The title is great, but the concept is ... well, harrowing for me. Even so, all I've really done so far is exactly what you describe. And guess what? No disasters yet.

I know where you're coming from snubber; it'd be great if more mods were easily adaptable between 3.7 and 5V. Taking that thought further, I keep thinking there should be a way to incorporate a voltage selector on a mod with two big batts, so that you could pick whatever punch you want in the moment. Large size isn't such an issue with me, but I know that's a major concern for many people - particularly the ladies. And I can sure see their point. The Spade fills this niche perfectly. It's a vastly growing market, and I think as more US designers and manufacturers realize its potential we'll continue to see a boatload of innovation coming through. We're in the very early stage of this technology; the future looks bright! Being patient sure sucks though.

Yeah, I keep hearing that! I'm about to order a bunch of stuff from Jason myself, so yet another happy customer singing ENS praises is good to hear. Way to go Jason! And thanks Jeff!

Mike I'm really looking forward to the responses on this thread. I'm afraid I'm far too much a newbie on this subject to be of any assistance but this is going to be one of those that feeds my needs. So I'll just be lurking.

I looked at the wall adapter for my phone, and it's rated at 5V, 850 mah. Just for grins I plugged my VP PT into it and -- no joy. Nowhere near enough oomph.

Quote of the day!!!

You know, I'm not a jealous sort of person, but you guys getting to vape VT juice just get under my skin... Sheesh. Well, enjoy it my brother! Some day maybe I'll get to join you in tasty vapor heaven. Sigh.

Glad I'm not the only one! Just on the topic of how much juice a week, which has been beat pretty well around here many times, one thing that I've noticed is that I don't use as much juice anymore as I initially did. I think maybe there's an adjustment period going from analogs to vaping (for me, for sure), and backing off might just be part of the deal. If so, that's a major +1 for me! I've gone from 20ml per week to about 12-15 max. Dang, one of these days I might actually start vaping 36mg!

-0- Mg Nic All Natural Coffee And Other Flavors
ddavelarsen replied to Compenstine's topic in DIY e Liquid Discussion
Wow, that does sound good. Actually I've been thinking about the hazelnut all afternoon; doesn't sound too bad at all. Probably will include both hazelnut and almond when I order flavorings. We were in the health food store earlier so I asked if they had any baking flavorings. They had almond and vanilla, but it was oil. I was so disappointed! If anyone else in this town ever starts vaping, I'm going to be the DIY juice guy. This is just too danged hard, getting all this stuff together...
