JOT I'll be very interested in seeing what you come up with, thanks. Great link nana! Perfect for us cheapskates.

Thanks gents, I will. If I come up with any mixes that scale up well I'll post them here. Mostly at first though, I'm just planning to recreate the regular fruity flavors I vape, and see if I can estimate that 555 I love some much. I got two or three tobacco flavors from LF, will see how those do. Mark, I haven't bought it yet but I've been thinking of just getting a journal to record this stuff in. It'll either be that or -- a spreadsheet! I've made my own aftershave for a couple of years and just used the back of a piece of scratch paper to keep track of mixes - it's getting kind of klugey...

Man that made me laugh out loud! They're not even that bad in New Mexico. I'm still grinning. But we must be getting soft out here - they've cancelled school quite a few times this year, and my work was closed one day and closed early another; that's just unheard of.

Rub it in! You wouldn't believe how many people around here wish they were in San Diego!

I haven't much to add to what Brian and Chris said, except there really is a fairly steep learning curve. And it's very personal. If you find yourself looking for the occasional yucky, as Uma so succinctly put it D:, just do that. Some people want you to avoid analogs at any cost but for me at least, vaping is much more pleasant if I just leave it being pleasant. The couple times I've tried a yucky after I quit, I was quickly reminded how much more satisfying overall vaping is compared to smoking. Smoking really tastes like ... ash. Try to just relax, appreciate what's good about vaping, experiment. Different liquids is a good idea, and finding that one device that trips all your esthetic triggers is another good one. I like 5V personally but sometimes 3.7 is more relaxing. In any event, don't think you "have" to do anything in particular, even vape vs smoke. It's your choice. Vaping is not smoking. The more you vape in a confident and relaxed manner, the more you'll come to like it and find it satisfying. Anymore, I can't imagine my life without it. Have fun and vape on!

Those look quite nice. When you decide on something it'd be great to see a pic how you lay your stuff out in it and hear how it works for you in practice. You guys always find great stuff to carry your vaping essentials around in; I just use a leather WWI Swedish ammo pouch. Yeah, I get questions about it but it's pretty good for my VP2, batts, juice and a couple attys. Never have found a good way to carry my VP PT between home and work though. I think I'm just gonna have to get another one.

Cool beans BirdDog, that was fun! I'll have to check back occasionally. I've always wanted to see a UFO, but never have. Never seen a alien either but I've met a few, I'm pretty sure, online.

Well, this is equivalent to what pretty much all of us started out with and it'll do its job of introducing people to the potential satisfaction of vaping. Hopefully folks will do more research after they've tried it and find options that increase their likelihood of continuing. That was another even-handed article; maybe the media is getting a clue? That would sure be pleasant. Of course, this might also be more in the realm of "news release" than actual reporting but it did carry some credibility. I wish them all the luck in the world!

Good find Brian. I've never had anyone say anything when I've vaped in a restaurant - I'm sure because they can't smell it, like one of Dean-O's patrons said. I really believe that people--even most of the anti-smokers, despite that wingnut in the video--will be able to coexist with vaping with no problems. I thought the reporting here was very even-handed, which I appreciate a great deal.

Higher Strength Nicotine Than 100Mg?

Thanks for the info Cade. -
Wow, that's awesome - felt lined and cheap too! That's our nana, on the job!

You could check an office supply store for those pencil clips, I'm sure they're still around somewhere. I think it's FTJoe who uses a reading glasses case to carry his around. You might have to get button shirt pockets to keep it in there though.

I hear you Michelle! We've had about 54" since Dec 1 and haven't seen ground since. And it's snowing as we speak, another 5" expected. At least it's not blowing ... yet. That comes this evening. I'll be out there either late tonight or in the morning shoveling that crap so I don't pack it down in the driveway when I back out. I'm getting kinda tired of it too. There's a 6-ft pile of snow at the sides of the driveway I can't see around. Sigh. Edit: But I taught my dog to just lumber through the snow and use the white surface. I told her it was that or hold it until April.

Yeah, that and Untouchables are great! Haven't thought about either for a while. I'll give either a shot next time they roll through. Good recommendations!

Ah man, we just gotta love our women. I'm really fortunate in this regard; my wife and I have most book and movie tastes in common. But she likes 40s movies and I like B movies - those don't mix too well. That's why we have two TV rooms.

I have a boxful of flavors that didn't work out too. That must be one of the costs of starting vaping. It's also one of the reasons I think mixing my own is going to be so swell; I've learned at least some of what I like so can keep that going pretty inexpensively, and as I build up more flavor inventory will be able to do some serious experimenting. Who knows, maybe someday I'll stumble on the next Midnight... As for mixing them all together - well, why not? Unless they're maybe tradable? You might find something to trade for that you really like. And man, you don't want to get down the the last two drops of anything!!! Yikes! That's living on the edge, man.

Wow man, thanks! You're making me blush.

Is there a reason not to refrigerate them? The humidity issue is a problem here - it's always over 60% humidity around here even in the winter. The fridge is about the only place I can think of with a controlled humidity environment. I just wonder about condensation. I just keep them all in a box on a closet shelf now. As for the empties... I toss em; the labels are always misleading and I'm easily confused. Little plastic bottles are cheap! For what it's worth, I store larger quantities of liquid in amber or cobalt glass - there are too many chemicals in plastic for long-term storage as far as I'm concerned, and the dark glass should help protect against light.

Okay well I'm officially jealous, even if I'm no gamer. That's some serious freakin hardware hangin out round here. I took a picture of my lair, does that count?

Thanks for the input folks, you were a great help. And I promise this is the last time I'll put this out here! In the end I had to make a separate version that would render well in Open Office, so I'm going to put both versions here; one that's "prettyfied" for Excel and one that works in Open Office but doesn't have any gradients. That just did not work out well at all. JuiceCalculator8bExcel.xls.zip JuiceCalculator8b-OOo.xls.zip JuiceCalculator8bExcel.xls.zip JuiceCalculator8b-OOo.xls.zip

Wow, we went to see Wolfman last night and I was absolutely freakin pleased with del Toro's treatment. The original Wolfman movie was one of the movies that really shaped my childhood -- which might explain a lot to some of you. I'd read that del Toro had a similar feeling about the original and wanted to essentially remake the same movie, updated for the 21st century. Well I'm here to tell you: He nailed it. That's the werewolf movie I've always wanted to see, the first that even came close to the tragedy and humanity of the Lon Chaney film. If you love the Wolfman you owe it to yourself to give this one a try. It's beautiful, scary and heart breaking.

Totally agreed snubber, right on! Another +1, and one for our Daddy too. One thing that's always impressed me is the quality of the people who have taken up with VT. We can thank Chris for the feeling of welcome and community that has grown in Vapor Talk. I believe that largely comes from Chris's own generous involvement with the members, and his undying quest for unique additions to the content here. I don't think Chris ever sleeps - I've seen him in action at truly all hours of the day and night. We really are lucky to have found VT and to have a man like Chris behind the wheel.

Well, just so the next person doesn't get ripped off, the correct coupon code for Flavour Art at Liberty Flights is ECR69. I copied the wrong code out of some coupon code website, and that was just too bad for me as far as LF is concerned. I can see their point of course, but they don't know how much of my money they stood to gain. Now that's up for grabs. Anyway, you guys can sure take advantage of the right code. It's good for 15% off (if the website I took the original code from had that right either...). I'll let you know how well I like the Flavour Art flavorings (I still can't bring myself to use the popular abbreviation, "FArt." )
-
Hi snubber; I did some reading on Liberty Flights' forum and it seems the normal usage for Flavour Art (or, as they call it, FArt) is 1-3 drops per ml. Or maybe less. Some of the flavors are apparently much stronger than others. I ordered a few and will someday post my experiences here. I ordered a bunch of stuff today, from LF, Fairy's Finest, Tasty Puff and ENS. I'm pretty psyched; this time next week I should be vaping my first very own from-scratch DIY liquid.

Getting ready to order some flavorings this weekend and the suppliers I'm considering for now are narrowed down to two. Flavour Art is clearly high-rent stuff. Made in Italy and sold in the US by Liberty Flights, Flavour Art is seriously professional and scientific. At least that's the vibe I get reading their site. It seems, but this is my question, that their flavorings are highly concentrated. They're relatively pricey - about $5 for 5 ml from Liberty Flights. The site suggests percentage of flavor from .01% to .5% - which is far less than the 20% typically recommended for juice. So does anyone know whether these are to be used in the customary 20% mix or at .01 - .5% as recommended for food? I just don't know. Fairy's Finest comes highly recommended by our own MickiO. She's made such a good case for them in Celtic's Fruity Flavors thread that they pretty much displaced the normal alternatives for me. But the price is very different; about $4 for 2 oz. Big difference and MickiO does suggest (IIRC) that these are used in the customary ratio. So really, my question is whether anyone knows the proper proportion of Flavour Art flavorings to use in e-liquid? Thanks for any ideas. Now I gotta go get a haircut. Bye!
