Sorry, Redundant Question - Lorann's?
ddavelarsen replied to ddavelarsen's topic in DIY e Liquid Discussion
Thanks BirdDog - you know I was right across the street from Hobby Lobby Sunday, thought about checking there, and then just blew it off. That's me, all the way... I'll check Michael's first, and then make a run to Hobby Lobby if no joy. Thanks! -
I apologize for the redundant question here folks but I can't find the thread where I saw the answer and I'm on kind of a short timeframe here. What were the local stores where people bought Lorann's flavorings? Seems like Michaels might have been one, maybe Walmart? I'm going to be running around for a short time this morning and thought I'd try to track some down if possible. But I don't have time to go many places. Thanks for any help!

New Awesome Calculator By Scubabatdan
ddavelarsen replied to icarus's topic in DIY e Liquid Discussion
The calculator has a lot of invaluable information in it that the developer put a lot of time and love into. I'm sure it was built to suit a specific use/platform, which is fine for everyone who's using the same platform, and the developer should be commended for sharing his work. This is where building really involved apps gets difficult, keeping them open enough to work across all the potential OSes and, in this case, spreadsheets. I've mined it for as much of its wonderful info as I can and am just implementing those ideas in my own as I can. The recipe cards are great! All the flavoring info is incredibly useful. This is a fantastic tool, just not everyone will be able to run it. Most people should be able to though. Anecdotally, when it crashed OOo on my mac, I played hell getting OOo running smoothly again. Not sure what it did, but whatever it was, open office didn't feel good for a while afterwards. I actually had to reboot my machine to clear it up, which is like the fifth or sixth time in three years I've done that. (The other times were when Apple's Mail client got hung up, and that was a hard reboot.) -
I think you'd be doing him a favor Brian.

That's real progress Mike, thanks for the suggestions. Cripes, am I ever going to get all the flavors I need?! I haven't looked around for Lorann's locally but that's on my list for this weekend. At least that would save postage.

Just as an FYI, I've been playing with this fine calculator today at work. Unfortunately, Office 07 as configured here won't allow excel to run the macros. Freakin control freaks! I don't know whether to blame IT for being so compulsive, or M$ for providing for it. I'll blame M$ since I have a chip on my shoulder for them. But there's a lot of great info in this thing! Highly recommended for serious mixers, no doubt about it. Thanks! -
Mike I'm trying to get a handle on that too. I used a bit of Everclear while mixing last night and didn't get a lot of action. I didn't use much though, 4 drops EC in 2.5ml. I think doubling that might do something, which I'm probably going to test this evening. I don't bring Everclear to work... On a related note, would alcohol evaporate in a small plastic bottle? Can juice with alcohol in it be stored successfully?

"Master of Suspense..." If I'm lucky, release date for the Joker will coincide with money to blow.

2 Months And Not Even A Draw Off An Analog
ddavelarsen replied to Lordvapor's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Hey LV! Did you catch that part - you've been missed? Congratulations on two beautiful months and for how well your job is going. I'm really happy to hear that. So happy, in fact, I'll accept shipping on that sad old 60" TV. Just to help you get it out of the way. -
Well that will be tempting... Though then we'd have to choose between the V2 and the Joker. That would just be cruel! But I'll keep my eye on that space when the Joker comes out in case I don't just jump on the Joker immediately. Cripes, this is just not my day for writing, is it?

That's sure the truth. I quit joining the smokers when the company moved the approved smoking area out into the middle of nowhere, and started smoking in my car. But I still miss those folks sometimes. There are always rumors around here that there's going to be a total ban of smoking on the property, but in the company's favor they haven't done it yet. I think that's pretty awesome, actually. Someday though, it's inevitable and I keep vaping in the minds of all the smokers as much as I can without being a jerk. Maybe when they disallow smoking they'll allow a vaping area? That's a lame joke, I know. In the next few weeks I'm probably going to find out what the company's official position will be on vaping. Right now as far as I've ever heard I'm the only vaper in a building with 900 employees. I'm going to start working a couple days a week at a workstation right next to HR. And since I don't stealth vape, someone's bound to notice. I hope they are as rational about vaping as they've been about smoking. And we can never find a freakin lighter either! I finally bought one of those giant ridiculous-looking ones for the grill.

Personally I prefer more PG, but some VG is nice - it adds clouds of soft vapor. I like a bit more kick, and have tried adding a little Everclear to the high-VG mixes, which helps a little. Unfortunately I only have plain VG right now, no plain PG so can't quite answer your question. But I'm using high-nic-level PG base, so still get a good proportion of PG. I'm leaning towards 20-25% plain VG so far. I hope this makes some sense.

That's a start, thanks kitsune. I'm keeping track of everything I do, and if I ever make anything vapable I'll post it here. But that is a lot trickier than one might expect. Probably a good baker would be a good liquid DIYer. But that's not me. Yet.

Thanks man. It probably is the VBA that's doing it but I don't know how to test things like that. Brian removed the dropdowns and sent it to me, but it still crashed OO (on a Mac) on opening. But Brian made pdfs of all the tabs, so I got to see the fantastic functionality and info in that thing - it's a wonder! I sent it to my work and will play with it in excel today. Thanks, that's really a nice piece of work. That cat is dedicated. -
Because it's so thick the drops are much larger than other mix components. That's my interest. I've also noticed that juice freezes very easily, which suggests to me that commercial liquids include at least some water.

Thanks Gary, I've been wondering that myself so was watching your thread.

Well I knew I wouldn't do as well as I did when I was 20, but I didn't do as well as I expected. Not as smart as I think I am!

Thanks tiempo, I'll give em a try. Probably just as quick to order online. I appreciate the links. They're generally cheaper than other places I've looked.

Well, too bad. It crashes Open Office. -
Similar experience for me Glitzy. I went to the local Tractor Supply, and they acted like they thought I was crazy or making drugs or something. Guess I'm just going to have to pay shipping + outrageous prices and order online. That bugs me, but I don't really need a gallon anyway, do I?
