  1. I've been thinking about this thread for a couple days and today coming back to work after lunch I was listening to probably the greatest bass lead ever - "Jump Into the Fire" by Harry Nillson. WooHoo! It just doesn't get much better than that. Y'all are probably too young to know that one though. But it bloody kicks.
  2. Hey Mike, Surrogates is a great movie! We got a real kick out of it, even had a positive ending. Iowa went through a period of enticing movie productions with tax breaks, then started reneging. Our governor is a real piece of work ... as in J-E-R-K. Anyway, it is cool to have movie production going on around; makes you feel like your town is on the map.
  3. Mcquinn I wish you all the best and my prayers and happy vibes are headed your way. My wife has had both knees replaced and it sure made a world of difference for her. Don't try to be a hard guy after your surgery - take the pain meds, you'll heal faster. Same goes for PT after - if you medicate a bit you'll do better therapy. I hope you recover quickly and enjoy being on the 'other side' while in the hospital, that can be 'fun.' Good luck!
  4. Good thread Mike. In all my dealings with any vaping supplier I've had nothing but gold standard service. In my life before vaping I had only given kudos to Apple customer service, which was (and still is) one of the best companies there is for great service after the sale. And every experience I've had with any e cig supplier has been exemplary. The couple of times orders weren't exactly perfect, the resolution went far beyond expectations. My hat is off to all our suppliers; the rest of the commercial world could take notes from these guys - maybe the economy would start to turn around if more people were happy with their purchases.
  5. I'll go out on a limb here and say that TH is usually attributed to two things - PG offers greater throat hit than VG, so a higher proportion of PG in the liquid should help. Also, higher levels of nic enhance throat hit. That's not for everybody. If you wanted to add PG to a liquid that had a VG component, the doublers Snubber suggested would be one way to do that, keeping in mind this will reduce your nicotine level. Hope that makes sense. One final thought is that some attys tend to give a better TH than others. For me, the 510 seems to deliver the best, very slightly better than an 801/302 which would be another option. Don't know what you're using, so you might already have one or both of those. Good luck and have fun!
  6. We're here with you man. Prayers sent, and will be ongoing.
  7. Yeah man, I think about that a lot. We're in the innovation stage, very immature industry. That's why so many attys and stuff give out too soon; just not fully developed yet. In a few years we'll be buying expensive but semi-permanent attys, small batts that last days, the works. It's gonna be great! Assuming we can still get juice...
  8. You know what? That just made me feel good. Thanks! And I didn't even help. One thing that others have mentioned kind of in passing is to buy juice in small quantities until you find out what you like. One of the big surprises for me was that - vaping doesn't have to taste like smoke! That sent me off on a wild juice ride that's still going on. I found that I really like 555 for a tobacco flavor, and many fruit flavors after that. Soon I'll be trying some weird stuff like mocha and cheescake. That sounds weird, but I bet it's going to vape great! Vaping is so different from smoking that you're just going to be blown away. And just think - some day you might start mixing your own flavors and discover your nirvana all-day vape. It happens. You're in for a real joyride. Oh - like everyone else let me point out, we love questions! We all had them, still have them and probably always will. There is so much opportunity in vaping that it would be very hard to exhaust all the possibilities. Have fun and vape on! PS - don't worry about having a couple analogs if the mailman is dragging his feet getting your juice order to you. Waiting on the mailman is just part of the "fun." You'll see.
  9. Thanks Brian (still typing "Brain"), looks like DIY Flavorshack may be closed for a while but your suggestion got me googling. I found 555 flavoring at LiquidExpress, so I think I'll snag some of it there along with good ole Atomic Fireball and see how they are. Thanks for a good idea! Although I'm still going to try to recreate it as I get more flavors to try... Can't help myself; it's a sickness I think.
  10. I thought about just subscribing to this thread because I'm interested in the responses too, but thought I'd just say that in my experience so far, 510s seem like the best all-around atty out there. I use them at 3.7 and 5 volts, and always have had excellent luck. Not sure the manufacturer, they're not marked that I can see. Looking forward to 6V soon! Hense my interest in the outcome here.
  11. John I'm so slow! I just realized why your subject line rang a bell for me ... "Nick at Night." Cripes man, you're flying way over my head half the time. I hope you recover soon, but not so soon you haven't gotten full enjoyment of staying up late with the movies. Thanks for my morning amusment!
  12. Prof that's a great review; I always enjoy reading your stuff -- concise and to the point (despite your claim to wordiness ). My brother recently ordered an S6 based mostly on your previous recommendations here. So far, since he and I have always ended up with exactly the same devices, I'm probably not going to buy this one when I get around to ordering another. But the fact you were able to vape an 808 carto on this does make it appealing as my wife won't vape anything but cartomizers. Not easy, vaping, is it? But it's sure interesting and fun.
  13. Thanks gents. There are some recipes in the calculator Icarus posted and I have those, so thanks! I'm sure there's a "secret" book out there somewhere - maybe in Chinese - that tells how to make these flavors - like 555, RY4 and such. Snubber you're probably right that part is more like chemistry than baking. But I'd sure like to find it.
  14. I should also add that I'd be perfectly happy buying a bunch of just 555 flavoring; I'm not committed to mixing it myself; I just want to get the base nailed down and if I could buy it I'd be all over that...
  15. Obviously, specialty mixes are trade secrets, but all of our successful juice innovators/vendors had to have started somewhere more concise than a bunch of random forum posts... Surely. I know that part of my own problem is that I'm no kind of baker to begin with. I think baking and mixing e liquid must have a lot in common. So presumably there's a good, basic 'what goes together well' kind of source somewhere. Anyone know of one?
  16. Why I never asked this here before now is beyond me... Anyone have a good 555 recipe? Or any ideas what the likely components/proportions are? I don't have any caramel yet but I think that is probably one part of it; I've tried toffee and butter rum as alternatives to caramel and they didn't quite cut it. Which nut flavor? I've tried pistachio and hazelnut, neither was quite right. Macadamia? Maybe. I wonder actually, how many component flavors there are in 555. It's a pretty complex vape. Your ideas are most welcomed. Thanks!
  17. Well Sarge, I better add my 2 cents. Since you're a heavy vaper, I'd suggest starting to check out big-batt mods now. Some that come immediately to mind are eGo, VP2, Silver Bullet, Super Six. There are many, many others. I routinely get 8-9 hours or more vaping on my VP2, and I'm a pretty steady vaper. And these good folks talking about backup attys and batteries are right on; you can't have too many spares. Trying to get fully stocked up immediately might be daunting, but it's relatively easy to plan some stock-up purchases for paydays. Just spending the amount of money you would have spent on analogs for vaping supplies will get you set up pretty quickly. One other note. There's always the risk that the FDA will step in and supplies of e liquid will dry up for a time while they sort out how they're going to regulate this, and the various tax agencies determine how they're going to get their slice of the pie. With that in mind, I'm making a concerted effort to get at least a one-year supply of juice on hand. That is not easy! I keep vaping the stuff.
  18. Okay Pam, saying you love Nebraska is almost as bad as saying you love Iowa! It is easy to appreciate nana though. I think the viscosity of different juices might make it easier to flood the atty if you're used to something that's a bit 'thicker.' I do notice sometimes that a thinner juice will drip pretty fast and I might get a lot more in the atty than I meant to if not careful. I've also found that juice tends to 'thicken up' after I've carried the same small bottle for a couple of days. I suspect there's some evaporation going on but don't know whether that's really true. Only that juice does seem to get thicker over time, and is easier to drip slowly. Have fun and vape on!
  19. This is timely as I'm not very good at rotating attys and tend to get that nasty taste once in a while too. I'll try the flush trick when that happens, thanks McQuinn.
  20. Thanks for the good info McQuinn. So far I've been lucky in not breaking the protection off my batts but since my brother has done and warned me, I've been very careful how I handle them. Not to say it won't happen eventually though, the AA battery case I use to carry stuff around is a tight fit on those things - because of the protection circuit I guess.
  21. Well, that's enough to make me willing to put a new 302 on mine. I had one die the other day - first atty I've had that just up and died. Usually I've done something stupid to them like boil em for 20 minutes... So I'll break out a new 302 and put this excellent 510 on the VP2. (Another great machine!) Pam I'm betting that you'll find you like all that voltage when you get your VP PT. It's a wonder, and beautiful too.
  22. Yeah that is a cool demo. You have great presence on the camera too.
  23. Yeah, well, don't hold your breath brother. The double barrels might not be available yet when I finally get my own SB. 'Course, what's to stop me making yet another SB review? Redundancy? Inertia? That might do it.
  24. Yep, got em both in my wishlist, I almost broke down and ordered the SB already... I need to be careful which links I follow!
